As Klyde started to move, Riyo weakly lifted a hand to clutch his shirt, eyes clenching shut. Where was he taking her? She really didn't care.
Trickles of blood continued to flow out of Riyo's mouth as they got farther away from the school and closer to town, her consciousness slipping in and out as her vision on his face blurred. Would this be it? Would she finally kick the bucket after all that? It wasn't like she could be any more miserable...
Desmond could smell the girls fear. Such a sweet and beckoning smell. One that stirred him into action. Free hand creeping up, he grabbed the hood and yanked it off...
Only to be shaken by what he saw.
White hair.
In a little bit of shock, his hand dropped from around the girls mouth, a much more gentle grasp reaching down to touch her shoulders and turn her around.
Oh God.
It was Mitsu.
He'd almost...
The thought of what he'd almost did to the girl he cared about the most made his heart sink to the bottom of the barrel, legs trying to back up but immediately slipping and leaving him flat on his rear. The vampire looked... Terrified. "W-what have I done?"
He'd made her cry again. Those precious tears falling from her eyes...
He'd scared her... When all he wanted to do was hold her and tell her it's okay.
"I'm so sorry..." He whispered, hands grasping his head in a sad attempt to shelter himself from the cold reality of what had just happened.

It took a moment for Klyde to get his barrings once he was in town, the staring he got barely registering. He only vaguely knew where the hospital was since he had never gone himself. Taking off in the direction he was fairly certain it was in, it took him a few more minutes to get there, wading through the crowds of last minute Christmas shoppers. How he wanted to yell at them, scream for them to get out of his way, but it would only waste time so instead he just pushed people aside.
When the hospital finally came into view, Klyde pushed to move a little faster until he was at the emergency door. "Help, please!" He called immediately as soon as he was inside.
Almost immediately there was staff swarming him from all sides, a gurney being rolled out as a pair of nurses tried to help ease Riyo out of Klyde's arms onto the rolling bed. Once she was in place they went to work pushing her in the back to take care of the problem.
Like a lost puppy Klyde started to follow, but two nurses stood in his way. "I'm sorry, Sir. You can't come back here."
"B...but..." Klyde continued to try and push his way forward, not wanting to leave Riyo alone, yearning to know if she would be okay, but a few more people gathered in his way. Apparently they knew what he was because they had a sedative ready if need be.
"You can't come back this way," The nurse said again, trying to be calm and soothing. "Take a seat, we've got everything under control."
Mitsu clenched her eyes closed when she felt the hood being jerked back, her body trembling, waiting for the end. Instead she felt his hands grasp her shoulders gently to turn her around, hearing his staggered words. Red teary eyes opening slightly she watched as Desmond backed off falling on his rear in the process. Why couldn't he have just ended it?
Eyes falling to the ground she couldn't help but not see his pain, his remorse. She was too consumed with her own. Clenching her blood soaked hands she choked on a sob, "Why? Why couldn't you have just ended me?" She questioned softly, the words hardly clear through her crying.
Not able to face him any longer, Mitsu took off again into the streets, her mind having no real idea where she wanted to go. It was lost in the turmoil and nothing made sense.

By the time they'd reached the hospital, Riyo barely registered the noises or smells around her. The air was thick with sick and disinfectant. It was something she strongly remembered from her childhood.
She did, however, notice being lifted.
Her gaze turned to the vampire as she was being rolled away, an almost limp hand reaching out for him as she disappeared around a corner. Why did she want him to be around? She didn't know. She didn't know a lot of things right now. Helpless? Was she feeling helpless?
No. It wasn't helplessness that plagued her. She didn't even think it was sadness...
It was a lack of everything thereof.
"What's your name?" One of the doctors asked as they moved the gurney quickly. "Can you tell me that?"
She didn't say anything.
"We're gonna fix you up, don't you worry." One of the nurses tried to assure, though it didn't do much good.
they went through the usual process. Stripped her, cut her open, stitched, resealed, and called it a day. Same old thing. Same old 'close call', and same old result. two hours later, she was staring at a desolate ceiling in a room with one window on the most uncomfortable bed adorned with a wretched hospital gown. At least these people had the decency to leave her with underwear.
What? Ended her?
She... She had really wanted that?
There had to be more wrong with her... No way had he caused that by himself.
So, what did he do now? Let her go? Possibly try to off herself somewhere else? Then he could go continue to sulk.
But his mind seemed to come upon a shocking revelation.
'What do you have to lose?'
He had nothing to lose, and a slim chance to gain what he had lost or at least something like it. She needed somebody. Mitsu needed somebody right now... And if the stars were in line, though all the terrible stuff that had happened, maybe he could coax her back.
"Mitsu!" He called out, forcing himself back on his feet as much as he didn't want to and chasing after her. It wasn't hard. All he had to do was follow the smell of blood. "Please Mitsu! I need to talk to you!" he shouted desperately, reaching out to try and take her hand in his like he had so many times before. "Just a minute of your time, then you can leave me behind forever if you want!"

For the entire time Klyde waited he had paced unable to sit idly. It seemed to have the staff on edge because they continued to cluster in the room, a few armed with sedatives encase it would be of use. He wasn't honestly sure if it would work on him but he knew better than to test it. If he wanted them to help Riyo he couldn't bother them now. So he played the good vampire and waited and finally after so many hours a nurse emerged to give him some news. Keep him updated? Right, what a lie.
"She seems to be doing okay. I don't know if she's up to having visitors....but if you promise to behave you can see-"
As soon as the 'you can see' came out of the old lady's mouth Klyde was gone. He pushed passed the nurse getting the room number Riyo was in and immediately searching for it. It took him a couple of minutes to find it. He had managed to get turned around twice heading the wrong direction and in his rush he nearly ran by her room.
Coming to a halt he came back to her door, worried violet eyes peeking in at her. Would she tell him to leave he wondered? He had been so keen on getting to this room he had completely forgotten the current situation they were in. He was the bad guy. A nervous hand came to rest on the door handle before he finally pushed it open. What did he have to lose?
Coming in rather tentatively he closed the door behind himself before slowly approaching. Thankfully the smell of the hospital, cleaner, and looming death was overpowering enough that he couldn't smell the blood. "H...hey. How are you doing?" He asked softly eyes focused on her face. His general demeanor was very submissive as he stood hoping to get an answer and not a demand to leave.
Mitsu had managed to make it a fair distance before Desmond had caught up with her, though his pleas didn't make her slow in the slightest. She made it halfway through the park before his speed had closed the distance and he caught her hand in his. Letting out a cry Mitsu tugged on her arm to pull herself free.
"N...no! Let go!" Her voice sounded panicked as she continued to thrash, her movements only managing to hurt herself as she pulled and tugged on her arm. "P...please let go." She sobbed. "I've done something horrible....unforgivable....please....let me go." If the blood on her hands wasn't evidence enough then Mitsu didn't know what was.

As footsteps came in and the noise of the door closing hit her ears, Riyo's eyes glanced to the side, only mildly surprised to see Klyde.
Slowly, she forced herself to sit up, cringing slightly at the jolts of pain shot up her back. The hospital gown wasn't exactly covering, since her backside was partially visible, along with her black underwear.
"How's it look like I'm doing?" It sounded like a genuine question with no malice attached to it... But it was hard to tell.
Lifting up her arm, she stared at the IV piercing her skin, her other hand slowly coming up to touch it.
"Up 'till this, I took solace in the fact that... As bad as I was, as hopeless as everything seemed, at least Mitsu was there with me going through the same thing, and maybe we could both get through it."
Pausing, she looked out the window. There was no scenery, just more buildings. What a view. "I didn't really know the extent of that. Didn't think I had to worry about keeping a guard up around her. I suppose it serves me right. She did to me what I've done to others..."
So why did she feel so cold?
"I don't blame Mitsu. I'm just..." She started shaking her head, looking back down at her arm. "So tired of everything."
As he finally got ahold of her, Desmond refused to let go. "If you think for a minute I'm going to shake my head and scold you for doing something horrible, then you really don't know me. Mitsu, I could give less than a s**t if you killed the president or destroyed each and every one of these buildings."
He started off yelling, but forced himself to grow softer, his eyes looking strangely watery. "Mitsu. What I did to you was terrible. I took your trust into my hands only to crush it right in front of you. No amount of apology will ever fix that. So instead of approaching you again, I hoped to any and every god I could think of that you'd heal. That you'd forget about me and smile for somebody else, because it's what you deserve goddammit..."
Nervously, he reached for her other hand to hold them to him, shaky hands afraid to force her any closer. All the thinking he'd done for this moment didn't seem to amount to much. The words had jumbled in his head. He was so scared of ******** up...
"I would gladly cut myself open... And put my still heart in these delicate little hands so you could crush it in those beautiful fingers... If it would make you smile again..."

"I guess...that was a stupid question." Since she hadn't told him to leave he ventured in a little further but didn't dare to sit. Instead he stared at Riyo in disbelief. "S...so Mitsu did this to you?" Klyde hadn't seen for himself what Mitsu had done on Halloween but Desmond had told him a little. Not that they enjoyed talking about it. But it was still hard to believe she would turn on Riyo...they seemed so close. That and he hadn't actually seen what had happened.
"I'm....sorry, Riyo." Klyde said softly, his violet eyes full of sadness. "I know my words don't mean much, but I really am...so very very sorry." His voice started to strain at the end suddenly sounding raspy. His sadness wasn't entirely the cause but it was a big reason for it. "I hurt you...so badly and I wish I could take it back."
Finally Mitsu's jerking came to a halt though she leaned away from Desmond, her eyes clenched shut like she was in pain. His words didn't help the tears and she only shook her head. When he took her other hand her crying continued all the more. He didn't understand what she had done. This wasn't what she wanted.
"I...I think I killed Riyo," Mitsu choked, unable to coop with the idea. "I don't know what happened..." She continued though her words were nearly lost in her tears. "She sat down beside me one moment and the next I was standing ready to finish her off." Since she couldn't cover her face with her hands, she dropped her head enough so that her hair was covering her face. "T...there was so much blood..." Her legs were suddenly shaky as she remembered the scene, her stance threatening to give way. If Riyo had survived...she would never trust her again.
"I don't want to keep hurting people," She sobbed, her tears rolling off her cheeks into the snow at her feet. "I don't want to be the cause of more people leaving me..." Tilting her head back up she looked at Desmond, her teary confessions pouring from her mouth like a fountain. "Because of what you did....I know I should hate you....but I can't bring myself to do it. I can't get you out of my head.....I'm so confused and lost I can't think straight anymore. I don't want to hurt anyone else...." Her eyes were rather pleading as she looked up at Desmond, hoping he would have pity on the monster before him and just end it.

"Yes." The simple answer meant Riyo didn't really want to reflect on it. Rather, everything he said afterwards.
Looking up at him as he continued to apologize, her eyes narrowed. "I really don't understand you. You knew what was going to happen ahead of time, ample amount of opportunities to warn me, yet you didn't."
Scooting herself slowly off the bed, Riyo stood to her feet, a little wobbly at first but in no time she was up straight. "Do you care? Or do you just feel guilty? I'm leaning towards the ladder since I doubt you would've gone through with it had the prior been true." How could they possibly threaten him? He's a vampire. Yeah. Nami had a cross, but if he hadn't wanted to, Klyde could've simply not showed up.
Lifting her I.V. less arm, she weakly shoved him. "If you're so sorry, prove it. If you actually care, prove it. Because I don't believe what anybody says anymore."
Desmond's eyes widened at Mitsu's confession, his heart dropping. She...
Christ...
Without a second thought, his hands let go of hers only to wrap around her middle and bring the girl to him. What could he say to make that better?
Nothing. There were no words for that. "Mitsu... I'm sure Riyo's fine. You're not giving her enough credit." He hadn't seen the situation, but that girl was like some kind of cancerous tumor that just kept coming back no matter how many times you tried getting rid of it.
"If you don't want to hurt people, then don't." Easier said than done, he knew. "Mitsu, this body is yours. This is apart of you, and the sooner you realize that, the sooner you can fight to control whatever the hell is happening to you. All of your friends love you. And I'm sure if any one of them was here right now listening to what you were saying, not one of them would even think of leaving. Not even Riyo." He really didn't know for sure. Maybe he was giving the blonde girl too much credit, but it at least sounded nice.
"Me and Klyde. We have to fight ourselves all the time." Though in all honesty, Desmond hadn't been fighting himself much since the incident. "Even then, sometimes we lose... But... If you remember who you are and visualize who you want to be... It gets easier slowly but surely."

Klyde's eyes down cast to the floor, "No...I didn't warn you. I tried....but could never quite do it. If I had they...." The reason, while valid to him, probably wouldn't stand in the same light for Riyo. He had tried to think of other ways but nothing had come to mind other than making her hate him and turn away....and he was too selfish for that.
He was about to continue but Riyo had started to stand from her bed. "H..hey you shouldn't be..." Did he care or feel guilty? Those questions led him off track. "It may not seem like it but I do care..." But she wanted him to prove it. How was he supposed to do that? "I'm here...with you right now. I know that doesn't mean much but I will do anything for you. Just..please...tell me what you want." His voice was starting to get raspy and horse the more he talked, a problem he had been facing since Halloween.
As Desmond's arms came to wrap around her middle Mitsu flinched trying to pull away. She didn't deserve the comfort despite how she craved for it. "Desmond, please stop..." She tried to push against him but his arms were already around her middle and she could feel herself caving in wanting to be held. When he tried to assure her Riyo was probably fine she merely shook her head. "I hurt her bad, Desmond. She couldn't even stand...and I left her there....bleeding."
Looking up toward Desmond as he mentioned her friends wouldn't leave her, her facial expression looked even more hurt. "You left me...." It had been the most painful thing she had yet to endure...and she had experienced quite a few things in this one year, though what she had done to Riyo topped it by far. She was full of regret about what had happened, wishing that it hadn't, but unable to fix it and make it go away. It was hard to imagine Riyo would forgive her or even trust her again.
Slowly the bloody hands she was trying to use to push against him grabbed hold of his hoodie, clinging. "I feel like my mind is breaking....I don't...even feel like a person anymore." Of course, Suto would reassure her that she wasn't a person, merely a thing. "I just...want to go home....and I can't even do that." No, there would be no one at home waiting for her...just an empty house.

They what? He was hiding something from her, and she aimed to find out what.
She was about to move farther, but the blasted thing stuck in her arm prevented it. Taking a step back, Riyo held up her practically shackled arm and tore the I.V. out without a flinch. "I hate these things."
Very little blood trickled out of the hole before it just stopped. Seemed like she had a handle on it.
"Alright. You can start by being honest with me.. Assuming what I heard before you trailed off is right, what were 'they' going to do?" Never have sex with him again? Release embarrassing photos of him drunk? All of her assumptions were rather shallow.
"You left me."
Those words practically shot him through the heart. Seeing the pain in her eyes... He'd really ******** things up. Not that he didn't already realize it... But actually seeing the hurt he'd put her in made things so much worse.
"Mitsu... I..." Should he tell her? Would it make things any better?
Moving one of his arms up, he removed it from around her torso to run his fingers through her hair softly, trying with all his might to find the right words. Though it seemed none of his 'right words' had worked so far. "Mitsu... Nami and Tessa threatened us." It already sounded pretty stupid... "Tessa told me that if I didn't do it, she would... And she would've made it 10x worse. I thought... That if I was the one to go through with it... Things wouldn't be as bad for you. Even if you ended up hating me, I could have some sort of meager relief that I'd done some kind of good... But..."
He faltered for a moment, choking on his words. "I see now that all I've done is cause a chain reaction of bad things for the only girl I ever cared about. I will never find any comfort in that."
Sighing miserably, he glanced away. "You didn't know what you were doing, Mitsu. It's not much of an excuse for some people, but intentions are a big part of an action. You're a person. More of a person than Tessa or Nami. When you do something bad, you cry and practically beat yourself up. When they do something bad, they smile and shrug, figuring it's not their problem."
He really didn't understand the comment about going home... But it could wait. Something told him that acknowledging it would open another can of worms. "That doesn't change what you've done. Nothing will. That's life. But that doesn't mean you can't try to make things right again."

Klyde took in a deep breath, his eyes suddenly watery. "They were....going to hurt Claire." He said softly. "Make sure she grew up...dealing with people like them...and me. I can't protect her all the time. I didn't know what to do." Running his hand through his hair nervously, he shook his head. "I know its still a selfish excuse....and I'm sorry." His voice was getting quieter as he spoke, his throat unable to keep up with this long winded talking.
"If it had been just me they were threatening....I would have told you long ago." His eyes finally turned back up toward Riyo, not expecting any kind of forgiveness.
It seemed that Desmond's words were breaking through, if only a little. Mitsu was no longer sobbing, though the tears continued to stream down her face. His confession on why he had done what he did was met with sad eyes. She had meant it when she had told him she would have forgiven him if he had beaten her instead. If that had happened....she might not have snapped, the hive kids wouldn't be throwing rumors around like seeds to sow....and her brother might still be here. Suto had been less than pleased to hear the rumors around school...and the video. She hadn't even realized they were filming. Her sin was forever caught on tape.
What would he do...when he found out about Riyo? That she had snapped again. While Desmond's words were breaking through the sorrow she felt it was quickly being replaced by something else. Fear. He had warned her about messing up again. What would he do? Would he do something to the only friend's she had left? "I think the only way I can make it right...is to not be here to make it worse." Her voice was surprisingly calm now as she closed her eyes trying to stop the tears.

Riyo was... Shocked... To say the least.
Her eyes turned from surprise to sadness in a quick snap of a finger. Looking down at the bed, she returned to sitting and patted the space beside her. "Sit down." She said softly, her voice calm.
"Klyde... You're right. You can't protect her all the time. Like it or not, there are going to be people your sister meets who aren't going to like her no matter what she does. That's just how it is..."
Why was she giving him a talk about this? Honestly it wasn't her place, but it was somewhat humbling to know he was just trying to look out for his sister... Even if he practically threw her to the wolves in the process.
"But ... You can be there for her when that does happen. If you do that, she won't... End up like me." It hurt to admit that. To know that her whole life could've possibly been turned around if only someone had been there to pat her on the back and tell her things would be alright. And that being like her was a negative thing.
"No, the way you can make it right is go up to Riyo and say you're sorry." Desmond said clearly, looking down at her with serious eyes. "How do you think she'd feel if you just up and disappeared after all that?" Probably about how Mitsu felt when he did. Terrible.

Submissively Klyde walked over to the bed and had a seat. He sat down in a rather deflated manner, staring down at his hands as Riyo spoke. "I know that. I know she'll have people that won't like her or will even hate her...for what she is or who she is or for no reason at all. I've gone through it all before....I just didn't want to be the cause. I didn't want to guarantee that every time she turned a corner there would be someone there waiting to make her life miserable."
Closing his eyes he tried to will back the tears. He didn't want to cry in front of Riyo but it was becoming harder and harder to keep that from happening. Her ending phrase only hurt all the more. End up like her..."There's nothing wrong with you....and everything wrong with what has happened to you. I hate...that I was apart of your suffering. I never wanted to have to choose...it was the worse decision I ever had to make." His voice began to strain threatening to give out as he spoke. Unable to hold back any longer, the tears started to leak from his eyes, though he was quick to wipe at them and brush them away.
Mitsu didn't know what to say anymore. She was emotionally and physically drained. So much so her legs began to give and she teetered forward so that she was leaning against the vampire for support. Clinging to his hoodie all the more Mitsu just rested her forehead against his chest wishing it was as simple as just apologizing. That everything could go back to the way it was before Halloween. Her physical suffering wasn't all the great but at least she was somewhat mentally sound.
She had only snapped that one time and while her thoughts wandered and shifted she never felt like she was on the brink of insanity like she was now. It felt like a hole was opening at her feet and the walls were closing in. Eventually the two would meet and she would have no where to go but down, no choice but to fall into the depths of madness....and she had hurt the only person who probably understood.

"Alright. Well think about this. They're going to graduate in a year and have bigger fish to fry in college... If they decide to go instead of taking up a career in prostitution." Riyo couldn't really say. Nami didn't get good grades by herself anyways, but money was a good way to get through a university, she supposed.
Her brow furrowed when she saw the tears building up in Klyde's eyes. Was he... Was he really about to cry? She could safely say she'd never seen a man cry... And she wasn't sure how it made her feel.
Nervous? A little. Did she feel bad for him? Well, kinda. It didn't really change the fact that he'd hurt her, but at least he hadn't done it for the sadistic pleasure of seeing her writhe.
With an exasperated sigh, she leaned over to grab a tissue from the box on the stand, using it to dab his face like he was a child. "C'mon. Time to build a bridge and get over it. Seeing you cry creeps me out." Which was saying something. At least it took her mind off of the day she'd had.
"When I said I'd forgive you for just about anything, I wasn't lying." Like he apparently was about a lot of things. "But I never said how long it'd take. So..." Placing a hand on his, she squeezed it gently. "If you really want things back to the way they were, you're gonna have to work for it." And she would make him work harder than he probably had in his entire life. Half of her was sure Klyde would give up because he didn't feel like it was worth it, because she already had some... Rather cruel things in mind.
As Desmond was greeted with silence, he frowned. What should he do now? Couldn't rightfully stand here all night, as much as he wouldn't mind.
Silently, he bent down to scoop the girl up, knowing full well that little body was probably worn out from the physical and emotional strain. "Mitsu. Where would you like to go right now? I'll take you anywhere."

Klyde smiled slightly when Riyo said his crying creeped her out. He suppose it would. Who ever saw a guy cry after all? He felt like a three year old unable to wipe his own nose when she started dabbing at his face...but he allowed it none the less.
He was a little surprized to hear her tell him she would forgive him. It wouldn't be immediate, but there was hope. "I'll do whatever it takes...for as long as it takes." Squeezing her hand a little in return his eyes had a set look of determination. He wasn't going to give up.
"Riyo I ha-" But his voice finally gave out on him, his mouth moving but it issued only silence. Frowning now that he was going to have to wait a time to talk again he reached into the pocket of his jacket. He still wasn't sure if Riyo would take this from him but it was worth a shot. Holding out his hand he offered her the small box he had pulled from his pocket. It was wrapped in a way that said he had tried and gave up half way through covering it in tape to hold it together and covering the mess of bunched up paper with a bow.
When Desmond bent down to scoop her up Mitsu didn't fight it, any fight she had was long gone. Her body went nearly limp as soon as she was off her feet, her head resting against his shoulder. Hearing his question an answer she normally wouldn't come up with came to mind...and she was torn on voicing it.
She decided against it. "I...don't know." She said softly. "W...will you take me to Riyo?" If anything he was right about one thing. She need to apologize and she needed to do it right. Even if Riyo was mad and ready to return the favor she needed to face her. She just hoped...Riyo was alive to do just that. She would willingly take a beating if it meant Riyo was alive to do it.

Well, Riyo hoped he meant that. It would be nice if he did, but if it was just guilt he was feeling, she was sure it wouldn't last.
As his voice just dropped off the face of the earth, she looked confused, then a twinge of worry. The connection between his voice and the injury she'd given him wasn't there yet.
The small box he produced caught her attention, a little apprehensive about taking it. He'd gotten her something for Christmas? Did he think it'd be a fix-all?
Riyo wasn't used to getting gifts, so her reaction was a little strange. Nervously taking it out of his hands, she examined the box. It was obvious who had wrapped it. "S-should I go ahead and open it?" Was she supposed to wait 'till Christmas? Riyo didn't know how this stuff went.
Desmond figured she'd say something like that. "I will." He said softly, not that he particularly knew where she was.
