Fear. She could see it in his movements and she could smell it in her nose. The cat met his gaze easily, but as soon as he'd stared deeper, he backed away, before running wildly.

As the arrow flew, she growled loudly, a small anger reverberating through her maw. But, it landed before her, with a glow.. Then, the plant life before her began to change. The cat stepped back and away from the growths, watching with large eyes. As they bloomed, the cat side stepped through the growth, her head poking through the large plants. Her ears flicked as he exclaimed, his voice dripping with fear.

It was good that the man was capable of fear. Perhaps she could scare him out of the forest, so that he couldn't behave so rashly toward it's natural creature again. However, something told her that wasn't his usual behavior..

Rendus
Bard and Storyteller

All of the sudden, as if he was struck by an arrow of courage, Rendus' fear dissipated. Instead, his earlier feeling (which was fear) was replaced by curiosity and query. He didn't know where the feelings came from but it did made him stop packing and think. A lot questions popped in his mind like: how was the animal able to react like that? Was the animal, in fact, an person in disguise? Was animal-transformation that possible?

Turning back at the direction of the panther, he dashed back to where they met and saw the animal still there, as if deep in thought. Subconsciously, his ,ind was preparing for the worst. Instinctively, his arms reached out to his bow, ready to strike once again for sudden movements. "You... You're not a real animal, are you?" Rendus asked, thinking of hi,self to be mad to be talking to an animal. If this was not an animal, he must be some kind of psychic: If not, then he would say the animal was incredibly talented or something.

Plans filled her head. Perhaps she would do as he desired, and leave. He was already scared out of his mind, after all. But something in her told her to stay. Perhaps she could follow him out, ensure he did not do anything else so.. rash. But her thoughts were cut short as he dashed back to look upon her, as she stepped through his magically induced hedge of plants.

Luciel's eyes fell upon Rendus as he turned around, staring at her. His hands fell to his bow, as he spoke. Luciel let a small chuckle reverberate from her maw. The cat stepped forward calmly, smoothly. The cat's form was of elegance and beauty, nothing seemed out of place or fearful of the weapon before her. Her head floated up on her neck to look at him, her eyes glowing with some delight.

The cat sat down a few feet before him, her massive head looking up at him. "What constitutes a real animal.. and a fake animal? Do you not see? I am of fur and flesh, bone and sinew like a real animal." the cat's tongue rasped against hew maw as she awaited his response.

Era Aerialis

Era raised a brow and looked around for the people once again. She titled her head to the side and frowned at him. "Vernek?" She shook her head. "Others?" she asked. She wasn't sure what a 'shaman' was. She hadn't heard of such a thing before. She studied him for a few moments trying to decide if he would be any danger. Her gaze shifted to his hand and she stared at it for a few moments. She then slowly reached out to take it.. "I'm Era." She said then gave his hand a firm shake before letting go and quickly pulling it back. Brother always told her that she was to be polite to those who are willing to be the same way in return. She sighed at the thought and shook her head.

She then started to look about for the others that he was talking to. This confused her. She swore that he was speaking to people. "Now..who are these people?" she mumbled to herself in her elven tongue. Her eyes fell back on him and she looked out into the forest. In the distant she heard a inhuman shriek that made her skin crawl. A demon...not a dangerous one..it sounded like one of the large mindless ones that she had ran into several times. It was far off and she figured that there was no danger with one yet.

Vernek
The Spirit Talker

"Pleasure to meet you, Miss Era." He smiled lightly. He then started pointing to his invisible entourage. "These are my companions... Oh, wait... I forgot, you can't see them, can you?" The Shaman scratched behind his head and laughed a bit. "Well... I suppose you'd need a demonstration of their pres-" Then suddenly, the shriek rang out through the forest.

Vernek looked around and raised an eyebrow as he heard the screaming. He then looked over to his side, then up. "Hey, Aero, could you go check that out for us...?" His sleepy voice was accompanied by a half-lidded gaze at his friend... The Wind suddenly shifted, Vernek looking off in the distance in the direction the wind blew in. "Aaah, off he goes..." He looked back at Era, a gentle smile on his face. "I can explain later."

Rendus
Bard and Storyteller

Rendus let out a cry of shock as soon as the words came out of the animal's mouth. Struck by panic and shock, he backed a bit slowly and then snagged at a tree root and fell down. He gasped for air as he scrambled back to his feet, his eyes not cutting its gaze upon the panther. "Yo-You could talk!" Rendus exclaimed the obvious, unbelieving of what he heard. "A panther could ta-talk!" Adding more to the obvious. Rendus scoffed as he scanned area around him.

And after all the shock and horror that an animal is speaking, Rendus heard from a distance a horrible shriek that seemed unfamiliar to him. But much to someone's-not-surprise, Rendus' stare did not linger off the animal, thinking that it would change into a human or faerie or something.

He'd reacted in a different way than she'd hoped. Instead of engaging in her banter, he cried out in shock. He attempted to gain distance, falling upon the ground as he back into a tree's roots. The cat let out a smooth chuckle of amusement as he got back up, restating his previous exclamation.

"Are you sure? Last time you said I was a fake panther! You seem to be such a confused man.." She let out another graceful chuckle, as she padded softly after him. Her head jutted upright on her neck as her ears stood tall upon her head, as the shriek tore through the forest. Her eyes grew larger with feline curiosity, before she seemed to disregard it.

"So, Human. What brings such a fear-driven person to the Forest of the Heart..? It almost feels as if yours will give out any moment.."

Rendus
Bard and Storyteller

"Fi-First of all, I have never met a panther that could talk!" Rendus exclaimed in frustration. "This forest is a neighboring forest of the forest in which my father and I used to hunt together. I just happened to cross by since I have never been here." He added, his confidence rising by the minute.

By now, the human was back on his own fullest height. Although, the feeling of suspicion that the animal might attack sooner or later was still existent. "I don't know anything about this forest, animal. Do you?" Even though it was really annoying to call anyone 'animal', Rendus found no other way to call the animal. After all, the figure before him was in the shape of a panther, he doubted if the animal had a name at all. He hoped that this estranged-responding animal was too cool-headed to attack him or what.

The feline was seated upon the grass again, her tail flicking nonchalantly beside her. Her eyes fixated upon him, she listened to his frustration. Well, it was to be expected, most couldn't talk with a panther. She resisted a smile--due to the fact that it'd appear more of a snarl than a smile--and continued to listen.

"I see.. But you were hunting in here regardless! First the stag, then an attempt on my own head! Usually passerbys do not do such things, ah?" She licked her maw as a force of habit, as she felt the dry, crackled spot atop her head, where the arrow had grazed and slice her.

"Yes, of course. I live here.."

Era Aerialis

Era stared at the man for a moment then looked about for his friends. It confused her even more now. Who was he talking to? 'You are a silly man..' she said to him in her elven tongue. 'There is no one here.' she paused and frowned when she realized that she was speaking in her language. "No one here...who speaking to? What is 'Shaman'? " she asked with a raise of a brow. "Era can not see these Aero....Vernek is odd man.."

She turned away from him and looked towards the forest. She let out a soft sigh and ran her hand through her hair. She let out a soft sigh and crossed her arms. "Does Vernek know forest well?" she asked. "Era needs to see the heart...can Vernek help?" Era knew that she was being rather forward with him but she had been running through this forest for days and it had gotten to a point where she can no long stand this place. If she finds the heart then perhaps it could give her some sort of clue to what happened to her brother.

Vernek
The Spirit Talker

He tilted his head at the woman's query, thinking over the question for a few moments. He never thought much about what exactly he was... He racked his brain together and produced an answer.

"Well... A Shaman is... I guess the best way to put it is that we're a go-between for People and Spirits. You know, Ghosts, Elementals, Animal Spirits... Well, not human ghosts. I can't talk to those for some reason. I guess they don't find me interesting." He snickered a bit despite himself.

"I'm rather familiar with the forests here, but Aero knows it better... Silly as this might sound, Aero is an embodiment of the Wind." He looked over to the direction of the scream from earlier, furrowing his brow. He rubbed the backs of his head. He then looked over to Era and smiled gently.

"But I'm pretty good at finding stuff too... See, I'm usually hired as a Diviner, someone who finds things for people... I think I can help you find this heart. Er... What is it, exactly? Tell me more about it." He smiled and sat down, looking up at the elven woman.

((OH GOD! Sorry for not posting. Well, I did not forget. I was waiting for the development of Vernek and Era's conversation because of the sounds...))

Rendus
Bard and Storyteller

"I've heard about the legend of this forest, to tell you the truth." Rendus said at once, his emotions suddenly serious. His grip of his bow tightened as he tried to recall about the story of the forest. If this panther lived here, then, she would know what he was pertaining to. Was it true? Was the legend true? What did she know about it? He kept his silence for a moment and allowed those questions to sink in his head.

"Do you know of it, panther?"

Her eyes floated to look at him with a nonchalant, almost bored gaze. After a moment or two after he spoke, she'd noted his tone change. Of course. He wanted to get to the heart like everyone else did. She let out a odd sound, almost like a snort of irritation. "Yes, Outsider. I do know of the legends of this forest.."

Rendus
Bard and Storyteller

Rendus looked at the animal with utmost apprehension. "The story told of the Sun and the Moon..." He said, implying the common element of the legend. "And the legend of the Sun's heart." He stated. If the legend was true, then, there would be a source of power enough to make a mere mortal extremely powerful. But the question still lingers: was the legend true? If it was, then the hearts must be some kind of item that can be obtained. The heart would be hidden, extremely hidden, so to say.

Even though he did not want to reveal his plans to the animal, he thought it would be extremely useful. Then, he pulled out a large book from his bag and then revealed it to the animal. "I am a collector of stories, panther." Rendus said, pulling out a quill from his other hand and then made one great stroke at the page he opened upon. Inks and scribbles suddenly appeared at the page and then formed; the page told a one-page story about a man meeting a talking panther. "I am here to look for real stories to tell the world about. I am here to explore the unexplored. I am here to discover the legends. I am here to collect real stories."

The Panther licked her maw idly as he gave her the look of utmost apprehension. He began, with the most common story. The feline resisted a loud snort, though her tail flicked with slight irritation. So, he was here to get a hold of the Heart. Not too surprising, was it? Her ears swiveled atop her head slightly, as if to beg for another scream to tear him away from her attention. No such gift was bestowed..

He produced a large book, and she peered at it. It seemed aged,a s with it came the scent of dust. She pulled her head back slowly, in time to watch the scribbles. Her ears perked, her eyes widened with fascination. She wanted to see that again! However, her eyes floated back to his face, the light fading away.

"I see. The story is real, Mortal. Now, I sense that you are not here for this story--you already seem to know it well.. I am not sure, myself, if I know the location. I've a few guesses.." She paused, her pupils widening n a feral anger, as she looked into his eyes sternly. Her voice deepened as she got more serious. " It is meant to be a secret kept by these lands, from those whom would manipulate it."
