"All part of the plan...?" She echoed. Riiiight, of course it was! Stagger across the desert, pick fights with some warrior ladies and then get batted around the head for your trouble. If that was the plan then he really needed to get a new one. On the plus side, it looked like she was winning despite his lucky strike a moment ago and she could not help the tinge of pride settle in her chest at the knowledge.

"Kidding? No. Do I look like the 'kidding' type to you?" She rolled her eyes, deciding best to let him think her the all powerful and in control female that she appeared to be, instead of the somewhat rebellious historian she was in reality.

And then just as quick as before, he came at her again, landing another good strike across her cheek even as she tried to bounce away from it. With a snarl or barely concealed outrage, she pushed forward - against her better judgement - aiming to fully tackle him this time and hopefully knock him back to the ground where he belonged!

It had been worth it!

Fia slammed into him, knocking him clear off his feet and into the hot sand. He flailed for a moment as all the world continued to spin, attempting to latch onto her face as a point of reference. Her eyes made for a strange grounding point however, and he continued to see double until her jagged insults were coherent. He swallowed, his bright eyes blinking.

"Haha... something tells me you aren't the kidding type?" He winced, raising up one of his paws to deflect a blow. Veru seemed to be out of energy at this point, and after getting another faceful of sand, he had a feeling the battle had been sufficiently won. And not by him!

This made for a somewhat awkward predicament. What exactly happened to poor, unprotected males that were absolutely wiped across the floor by beautiful, desert amazons? Somehow he had a feeling his fantasies might have been a bit more exciting then the reality...

They'll leave you to die, perhaps.
The crow flatly remarked. You'd better try to get up again.

Veru just smiled.

She snorted loudly and took a step back, smiling. Well, that went a lot better than she had ever thought! If only Ea had been here instead of Naar. She didn't think the big red female was really going to be very appreciative of her win, especially after she'd made her so angry just before.

She glanced the other female out of the corner of her eye and noted that she was drawing closer to them, keeping low to the ground. It was rather pitiful to see her like that. Had she no pride? Fia shook her head and refocused her gaze on the male who was seemingly gaining his bearings again.

"So, any fight left in you, or shall we just call it a day and proclaim me the winner?" She made no further move to approach him, nor back away, standing her ground until she was sure he'd surrendered. The last thing she wanted was to turn around and end up with claws in her back. Somehow she didn't think Naar would be quick to help her if that happened.

Would it be worth it...

...no, probably not. The white lion sunk his shoulders and seemingly melded into the sand in exhaustion. "No my good amazon, I believe you have won!" He chuckled dryly. Mostly because his face was pressed in the sand. This was... a very ill thought out plan, indeed! What happened to lions that were defeated, he wondered? He doubted they were carried back into the pride!

What a miserable show, the crow cawed. She skitter hopped across the sand, shooting a glassy-eyed glare at all present. This wouldn't work at all! Now she'd have to take matters into her own hands, and if there was anything Amaret hated, it was having her hands moved for her.

"Well, next time you can fight-" Veru mumbled.

The crow didn't wait for another line. She lifted one of her claws and seemed to paw at the air. A second later, the white lion fell unconscious, and the inky crow fluttered away. If the lioness's investigated further, they'd find the young male to be burning with fever.

She growled, curling a lip to reveal one yellowing fang. At least he wasn't going to prolong things. He might not have much brains but he knew when to give up and admit defeat.

She glanced back at Naar and huffed. "Well, I'll leave you to show him to the water. Do you think you can handle that?"

The red female crawled forwards, growling but seemingly content to comply, after all, she felt a bond with this male through the joint loss of a sister and she would not abandon him to die of thirst in this land. No, better to help him recover a little and maybe help him on his way. Naar wasn't certain whether the male would want to stick around for much longer than that, particularly after the less than warm welcome he had received from them both. Well, mainly from Fia, actually.

"I'll--" She paused, tilting her head towards the lion. "Um, Fia..." She trailed, taking a side-step away from her kin and closer towards the white and red lion who was lying face-down in the sand. "He doesn't look so good."

Fia snorted in a rather unladylike fashion. "He's just faking so that we'll feel sorry for him. If he's going to play the sad little victim, leave him there. It'll serve him right." Frustrated now, the historian turned and began to lope away, shaking her head as the bruises from their clash began to make themselves known. She'd probably have a headache later from her efforts here.

"Wait, Fia! He's burning up!" Naar had her paw on the male's nose. "I think he's really unwell. If he was sick then that means the duel doesn't count. Not if he was weakened because of illness. If he wants to fight again, we should let him, but only after he's healed." Naar-ehuka seemed quite ready to fight Fia to get her point across. "Are you listening? He's not well. It's not fair!!"

"What are you talking about? You're ranting like a lunatic! He was fine just a moment ago." The young female was stomping back across the sand and giving Veru a less than gentle nudge. "Come on, boy, stand up. Do you really expect us to drag you across the dunes? I'd sooner leave you here to die."

"No you won't!" Naar insisted, hissing madly. She reached out with a paw to swipe at the dark lioness. "We won't leave him here to die."

"And since when did you start giving me orders, Naar-ehuka?"

The red female flinched and looked ashamed, but only briefly. "We shouldn't leave him here to die. He's not just a rogue. He has our blood." And now she was talking sense, apparently. Fia knew that if it had been her father here, he would have seen fit to help the lion. After all, there was some potential in him, even if it was just a little, and it did seem a shame to waste it...

"Fia..."

"Okay, okay, we'll move him..."

This was going to be a long day.
