Iolanthe sighed and rolled her eyes a little when Gabrian started to whine about there being water down the other path. "Snow is water, Gabe," she said pointing at it with one clawed finger. "Besides, it's not like you could probably enjoy the water or cuddling once you got there. We don't know what kind of monsters are in either place and getting distracted isn't a good idea." She glanced at Livi, Aksaja, and Corbin - they all knew this, they'd discussed it with Braum. Comfort could be risked for the sake of safety.

She glanced towards Eracs, one brow raised a little at his reaction. Corbin didn't seem particularly scary to her but maybe it was some kind of bird phobia. She nodded her head in turn to each new arrival, muttering a hello - until she saw the bunny. She resisted the urge to laugh at the poor girl's alternate form, managed to stifle it into a strange, amused smiled. "Hi there," she said, proud of herself for not saying anything derogatory. Maybe Livi's polite nature was rubbing off on her.

"So what do you think is keeping Braum so long?" she turned to look back at Livi and Corbin, her frown returning. "You don't think he's hurt or something do you?"

Gabrian had been about to say something when he heard a horribly familiar voice calling out towards the group; his gaze turned towards it, fully expecting Alessa's human form to be approaching, but... he saw nothing. Blinking, he lowered his gaze to the ground, where he found the familiar auburn bunny rabbit jumping towards them, "That's ironic," he drawled out, and that said, stepped away from his sister and the group to crouch down near the bunny, where he offered her an arm, arching a brow up.

It was a clear invitation for him to carry her. In fact, his initial instinct had been to grab her right off the ground without permission, but he honestly didn't want a repeat of their first meeting, so the nix decided to play this off more intelligently, "Well, well. Look whose here..." he kept the crouched pose, pondering what in the world he could say to rile her up enough to WANT to be picked up, "You look like hell, Alessa. What the hell did you even do? Get your fuzzy little tail kicked by a tree down there? I'd hate to see my... investment killed dead. Would you consider a ride? If only because honestly, you're looking like you're about to faint," he figured that if he was enough of a jerk about it, she'd actually take his helping offer and banter right back at him, thus lessening the awkwardness of the situation tenfold.

Or something.

He was winging it at this point, really.

His head turned to look at Corbin only briefly, and he nodded, apparently unperturbed with his appearence, really. But then again, serpents didn't really have an aversion to birds, "Snow is bloody well frozen, Io," he tried not to sound sulky, but he was doing a poor job at it, "I can't SWIM through the snow. I swear, if I shift, you're going to bloody well carry, me," a snort followed his words and then he shook his head, "Warmth keeps you alert as well - I don't know you guys, but /I/ am of very little use if I'm frozen stiff and dormant due to lack of heat," a pause followed as his tail curled around his legs, amusingly enough, seeking his own bodily heat at this point, "Though I do agree; distractions are of no use to us... I just hope we're not going to regret out choice of path."

Doom. They were just headed off to their doom, he knew it. The more cynical side of him kept on nagging at the back of his skull that they were all going to die. But then again... Gabrian was a bit melodramatic by nature.

Ah! They were students, thank Jack! For the briefest moment she looked delighted, her little whiskers rising with her smile. "So you guys are students, I'm so glad. I swear, I've been hoping around in circles for Jack knows how-" She stopped, craning her neck with a feeling of dread to look up at a familiar face. Her ears immediately dropped and a look a irritation spread across her little face. Well, as irritated as a rabbit could look, anyway.

"You try attacking anything when you're stuck like this!" She huffed, wrinkling her little nose and looking away from him. "At least I killed the drunken thing. And I can't believe you're thinking about cooking lessons at a time like this. Really, I hardly think that's important." When he offered her an arm she did look back at him, but it was only to scowl. She was obviously not amused by the idea. "I'm just fine," she insisted, her fur fluffing up a little.

It wasn't true, of course. The tree had really gotten her good, but she was hardly going to admit it. "In fact I feel so fine I think I'll go back, now that I know I went the wrong way," she took a tentative hop backwards. In all honesty she didn't want to go back just because...gosh everything felt so far away. But she hadn't been trying to come to the mountains. Most of her group was heading toward the island last time she'd checked...

Gabrian was vastly amusing to Livi, though the only signs of it showing with faint twitches of his lips. It was an odd sibling interaction he was watching, since there was nothing of the sort in his family, so he wanted to learn. In his own fashion. He wasn't quite sure why, maybe it was because he was tired and not thinking clearly, but her brother was green tinted... and he had a very nice way of dressing himself. His brain MUST be fried to not notice something that obvious! Maybe that would explain why the other boil seemed pleased with Livi somehow? They shared the green motif and fashion thing? This could prove useful.

Everyone's attention shifting to another made him turn around to see what was going on. A bunny? Ghoul? What? Gabrian seemed to know her just fine, so she must be from his cabin. He felt a bit sorry for her, since to be in such a form had to be difficult. Was she going to always be stuck that way while traveling the mountain pass? But all the same, he bowed deeply before the said bunny ghoul. "Greetings, small bunny."

"Hmm... I'm not sure. I would have figured he'd be here by now." Straightening and rubbing his bare neck a bit, he looked back the way they had come. No signs of Braum and West still. "West must have gone another way or something... it doesn't make sense that he's not here when he left before us. Braum... he seemed to have some discomfort with his shoulder... or a wing or something on the train. I'm sure the crash hadn't helped any. So I hope nothing worse happened. Maybe he just pitched his tent and is napping?" That didn't readily mean he was going to leave without him, however. He felt bad enough shifting to this new zone. So he wasn't going to leave this area til Braum appeared.

Braum swooped down upon Iolanthe, landing soundlessly behind her, a cavalier smirk on his face to cover up his inner turmoil, worry, and just plain HURT. All that heaving had truly hurt his stomach, and if he were a weaker-willed being, he'd have keeled over sobbing by now simply from the vision alone, never mind the painful flight up here. Placing a hand on her shoulder, he chuckled darkly.

"What? Hoping to be rid of me, Miss Iolanthe?"
he teased darkly, coming to stand by his group. He was actually quite pleased to see they had waited for him at all. Perhaps he'd needed less prayer for guidance than he'd thought, he must be doing SOMETHING right to have gained their confidence. He gave his previous group a reassuring grin, trying to convey that he was the same arrogantly fine Braum they'd come to know in these few short hours. His heart tugged as he noticed that Belladonna and Hadiyya were not among this new group, though, and the emotion of regret flitted past his eyes before he masked it.

"Forgive my lapse in responsibility.......I was hav---..........No, nevermind, it's not a big deal.....I was simply indisposed longer than I'd anticipated." he explained cordially, keeping his tone light and jovial, or at least as light as he ever got, which was still quite devilish, and his naturally dark laugh didn't help lighten the slightly menacing effect. Looking around, he nodded politely to the newcomers.

"So, is this our newly formed band of merry misfits, then?" he questioned curiously, trying to keep a stiff upper lip and pushing himself to be more cheerful than he felt. If a leader wavered and showed worry, the group would worry. If a leader showed weakness, the group would splinter and fall into chaos. He could not afford to let so many souls down.

"Hey! Good to see you made it!" Though he didn't look too good and the smile that had been about to show faded into a bit of a frown. "You all right? Take a breather if you need one. Right now, it seems the others are waiting for their cabin mates to show as well." He was hoping the same, in his own way. "And don't apologize. I'm sorry for not waiting longer myself... and yes, this seems to be it. The others took the other route, I'm figuring."

It did good to see that Braum was there. So, other than West, it meant that their scout group was now all together. And that was good in his book.

Eracs was having a difficult time keeping all the excitement bottled up. So many others were around and some even talking to him! This was the much interaction that he had since, well, ever! Living in sheds do you no good obviously. He took the hand of Corbin reluctently. "Thanks and I wouldn't think of attacking you at all, promise. I'm Eracs."

Both of his newest friends from the train seemed to have caught up too! "Hi guys!"

"And hello all!" The scarecrow smiled. Which was slightly creepy looking still do to all the stitches around his mouth. "I'm-a a sorry. I just don't like birds at all so I get kind of flinchy around any..." Heck it took the last few days to fully stand Draven and that was before he surprisingly turned into his raven form.

Did that rabbit just talk? This day kept getting better! "This is all just so exciting!"
PostPosted: Fri Dec 17, 2010 7:05 pm

"Oh, for Jack's sake, Alessa!" he rolled his eyes and merely leaned in to scoop the rabbit into his arms, "Is your ego honestly important enough to get yourself killed over? You're obviously not fine, and you're not going back," that said, he straightened up with the rabbit in his arms and padded back to the main group, looking completely unperturbed. In fact, he looked quite natural as he finally reached his sister's side again, almost as if picking up cute little things and holding them were quite the norm for him.

"So. We were saying," he drawled out to the other boils, "Which way were we headed then? Or are we still waiting for some other poor, insane soul like us?" he turned to Livi, arching a brow, "Meet Alessa. She's stubborn to the point of stupidity, as you've probably noticed," of course, what the bunny didn't know was that Gabrian was not worried over the stupid cooking lessons - he was worried for... well, other reasons. One of which being the fact she, unknowingly owed him a favor; they'd shook on it, and she bore the mark to prove it. He felt it was horribly counter productive to his interests if the ghoul got herself killed off without returning the favor.

It was right about then that Braum landed, and Gabrian's brows lifted to hide under his bangs, his gaze sliiiiiiding over towards Iolanthe questionably, "Yes well," he drawled out as Braum spoke up, "Apparently, we're the insane ones, yes."

((I need to run off to bed! I'll be backish in a few hours :> woosh!))

Each and every step the djinn took was laborious. Exhausted, cold down to the bone, jogging through ankle deep snow was no easy task. Her legs from the knees down were numb, skirts and silk slippers thoroughly soaked and offering zero protection from the biting cold of the environment. If she'd been creature of a warmer element she'd have long since frozen by now, but her connection lay in water, and even in the dead of winter water flowed, up to a point. The borrowed coat offered some protection, keeping her core and upper body warm, shielding her thighs from the wind. The band of black fabric wrapping her head wound was actually doing a lovely job of keeping her brow protected from the cold.

She'd retrieved her pack, slinging it back over a slender shoulder, though it's weight was certainly not helping her progress any. She would swear the thing was getting heavier if logic didn't argue against the possibility of that. If not for the tent she would have likely left the damn thing behind, having more then enough pockets now for the Carol of the Bells and pumpkin pills, but at some point, hopefully soon, she was going to have to sleep, and she would need that damn tent.

As the tree line started to thin and give way to snow covered boulders and rocky out crops she knew she was getting closer. Closer to their goal, closer to -Braum-. He'd promised to take care of her and Belle, and she had every confidence in him keeping his word. If only she could get to him.

Digging deep, Yaya drew on the last of her energy reserves, putting on a final burst of speed so she could catch up with the weak outlines of students speckling the distance. Close, so close. "Braum!"

Something flies at you out of nowhere! A snow...bullet? "That was a warning, shot, see?" Sneer what you had thought was just a random pile of snow. "But these here parts belong to me, and I don't take kindly to strangers." It cocks it's arm and aims.

Iolanthe jumped as Braum suddenly placed a hand on her shoulder and spoke. She managed to stifle the yelp that seemed to be her go-to response for surprises but her hair flared out dramatically and stayed that way until she realized who it was. With a small huff and a frown, she slowly lowered the prehensile tendrils back to her shoulders and crossed her arms over her chest.

"No!" she said, defending herself. For once she actually wasn't trying to be mean or insulting to anyone, she had actually been genuinely concerned about him - even if her concern lay primarily in the fact that he was a good leader and she wanted him here to guide everyone (and most importantly keep herself alive). "I just wanted to know what happened, especially since you're a little late to the party." She noticed the small flicker of emotion across his face but she couldn't have said what it was, or why, so she just turned to look at her brother and the commotion he was causing as a means of ignoring it. She loved good gossip, but she didn't want to kick Braum while he was down - especially since she was so dependent on him at the moment.

"This is my brother Gabrian," she used one tentacle-like strand of hair to point out her brother to Braum. Any other time she would have commented on how very not masculine it was for a big snake demon to be toting around a tiny bunny, but it looked like the bunny was holding her own. "He likes to complain about the snow because it's not thawed enough for his tastes." She smirked and turned her attention back to Braum, pleased with the way she had acknowledged Gabe's incessant whining.

"Is there anyone else coming?" She turned from Braum to all the other members, the new-comers from Gromble included. It seemed everyone was going to be moving on in one big group and she supposed it would be inconsiderate to not ask if they were waiting on more friends. What a change of heart Io had - she was actually trying to be considerate.

Then, from behind her somewhere, someone called out Braum's name. Just as she turned to look at the newcomer, she saw something flying at her. "Great," she breathed under her breath, "that break from this crazy place didn't last very long." She glanced up at Braum expectantly - maybe because the new girl seemed to know him or because she wanted to see what he thought of the new enemy they were about to face.

Alessa squeaked and struggled for the first few moments in the air, but once she was in his arms she stopped. She had trashed about last time for all the good it did her and she hadn't been worn out then either. This time she didn't even have the ability to change back. So instead she settled for looking extremely grumpy, mumbling bitterly at him, "You are terrible. Do you have a compulsive need to grab onto small animals or something? I said I was fine." She only hoped she shifted at an inconvenient time. It would serve him right.

"I can introduce myself," she hissed at Gabe, before passing a glance at Livi and the others. She tried to brighten up a little, after all she wasn't frustrated with him or any of the other students there. "Yes, I'm Alessa! My shifting is rather messed up right now, so I don't really have any control..." Her ears twitched a little and she decided it was best to leave it at that. "Um...I assume we're going through the mountains? I was trying to get to the island but obviously...that didn't happen."

She tensed a little at the sight of one of the ghouls coming over to the group suddenly being hit with a ball of snow. "You've got to be kidding me..." she half sighed, half groaned. There were things up there to attack them too? First booze, now smoking, these monsters had terrible habits.

A mountain in the distance grumbles deeply and starts moving toward you. Oh wait, it's not a mountain in the distance, it's a yeti that's getting really very close. "Cousin Maynard?" It asks as it approaches you. It seems kind of friendly? You hope. "You owing me twelve peppermint points..." Maybe not.

Braum chuckled at Iolanthe's recovery, patting her shoulder to let her know he was simply teasing. Giving a polite nod to Gabrian, and then a gracious bow of the head to the rabbit apparently named Alessa.

"A pleasure. My name is Braumithras, and please, do not apologize. Quite a few of us have certain........misgivings as far as traveling is concerned. I'm sure we can work around it,"
he assured, opening his mouth to continue speaking to the new group, before he heard something that made his heart leap.

Almost immediately, the raum turned as soon as he heard his name called out. His eyes widened, seeing Hadiyya's state. How could he have left her? The weight of his guilt for breaking his promise to her came crashing down on him. She looked so cold and frozen, her skintone had lost so much color, not an easy feat. His heart froze itself, and his face instantly dropped as he saw SOMETHING ambush her. He had no idea what it was, but fear was clear on his face, and he lurched forward, stumbling and forgetting to be graceful in front of so many people out of his frenzy to get to the marid in danger.

"That's no way to introduce a ghoul, Gabrian." That was murmured lowly more to himself than anyone else but his brows knit together a bit in disappointment. No matter what, never insult a female. It just wasn't done. Or, in his opinion, shouldn't be done. Unless they have no fashion sense or truly deserved it but even so; such negative things were kept for inner monologues... not for out loud. His arms folded over his chest a bit as he watched this interaction with mild displeasure. Really now, distasteful.

But it faded as the bunny ghoul spoke up and introduced herself again, regardless. "Pleasure to meet you, Alessa. I'm Livi, of Ickis cabin." He wasn't sure if he should introduce the others so he looked at them curiously, like asking for permission. "I don't think you're the only one with shifting issues. There had been a few in our cabin who switched back and forth quite often. I bet it's all this... JOY... that is to blame for it." Placing a hand on his chest, he bowed before her as he had with Iolanthe. "We are to go through the mountains. The faster... the better. Before anything untoward..." Before he could even finish his sentence, he heard Braum's name being called and saw the sight of another creature. Hecate! They really didn't believe in wasting time, now did they.

"Already? Smoking... snowmen." A heavy sigh left him as he shook his head. But Braum's reaction had him blinking in bafflement, his eyebrows jacking up. Seems the raum forgot all about standing strongly when he saw the ghoul in danger. The cogs churned a bit before he got it. Had she been one of the two ringtones from before? She had to be important for Braum to just not care and rush to her side like that...
