"It's because I've got skinny arms," he laughed, wiggling one of them about as he dropped the rest of his catch on top of hers. Weird, don't do that again he told himself, remembering that many of the cheetahs he associated with would find his actions repugnant. She seemed to like them though, that had to count for something. With a bit of a huff he wiped his claws on the dirt to clean off the blood. It wasn't that bad just to relax, not try to con anyone, was it? The little cub liked meerkat. For a reason he couldn't quite place he found himself feeling very heavy again and he stared at the pile, trying to decide what to do now. He didn't want to run another con and upset her, surely it couldn't work twice. "So," he said, "Are you headed somewhere?"

Sitting down beside him as he cleaned his claws, she giggled softly at his antics. Tilting her head as he went quiet, she looked up at him with a gentle, concerned expression. He seemed sad and she didn't know what had put the expression on his face. Moving closer she gently touched her shoulder against his own, lilac eyes soft.
"No where in particular, I just wander about.. I have no family or pride, so I just follow the winds ad the herds... " Dropping her gaze to the meerkat pile she bent down, carefully catching the biggest one up in her jaw and lifted it, offering it to Shambe with a small smile.

To tell her or not? He didn't imagine that any female could appreciate his reasons for leaving his daughter with Nyoka, and he didn't want to upset her. He decided not, surely it wasn't her business to know about his cubs anyway. She didn't have any, so it was almost certain she'd want to know more than he was willing to tell. And yet he wanted to tell her, to tell someone at least, and she was better than most. He took the meerkat carefully, setting it down on the ground as he began to pick at it with a claw. "I feel like I'm going somewhere, I just don't know where yet," he admitted, pulling off a bit of the prey's fur absently, "I want something."

Smiling as he accepted the meerkat, she lifted one off the pile for herself, but tipped her head to listen to him, forgetting about the meal at her feet.His comment puzzled her and she studied him thoughtfully for a moment, absently stripping her meal with her claws as she considered his comment. "Like something is pulling you towards a certain place?" She had followed scents before, but what she was thinking off was te call of an open path.. the sense of going somewhere to find out what it was like, of discovering new views and experiences...
Lifting her gaze to him once more she flicked an ear in thought. "Do you know what it is your looking for?" She asked softly, gaze gentled.

"Family maybe?" he said as he ripped a piece of the meerkat off with his teeth, "Love, power, what everyone wants I guess." He'd been promised all those things before and like an idiot he had turned them down. Cashile was waiting there for him, all he had to do was find it. But did he really want to? Nyoka had told him that once he came in he wouldn't be able to leave so easily and he still wanted to be able to travel at his leisure. It was a bargain he couldn't find a victory in, but one he knew he would have to make eventually. "Do you ever get lonely?" he asked, looking at her curiously. She was like him but different, not just her species but her reasons for moving as she did.

Thoughtful now, all her usual hyper cheer gone in the face of such seriousness, she revealed a side to her that was far more mature, someone who had seen the darker aspects of life and understood the implications of it.
Nodding softly to his words she bent her head, pulling strips of meat from her meal as he spoke, giving him time to think through his words. Swallowing a mouthful she lifted her head and gazed out across the savannah. "Family..." She considered that a moment, though she didn't have any of her own, she thought it might be nice to start one some day... His question pulled her back from her wandering thoughts and she glanced at him, lilac eyes thoughtful.
"I do sometimes... I meet a lot of folks wandering around, but its rare I see them again, like we met today... they are usually on there way somewhere specific.. I think, I might like that, one day. Though Im happy wandering for now, I do sometimes wish I had someone to wander with... I guess..." She added, glancing down a little shyly.

Before he realized what was going on he was telling her, tripping over his tongue as his voice caught in his throat. "I had someone, but I messed it up," he said quietly, trying not to look at her, "She was so beautiful, so sweet." It wasn't like him to whimper like this, something had changed when the cub was born, it was why he had taken her in the first place. There was something about this particular leopardess, she had set him off before and she was doing it now too. Maybe it was because she didn't question, didn't dig deeper than what he said. It was comforting in the same vein as it was frustrating.

His sudden confession was surprising, but she didn't think any less of him as he spilled out the story, instead, she shifted a little closer, dipping her head to rest her cheek against his shoulder, wanting to comfort him and ease the tone of loss and sadness from his voice. Though she had never loved another herself, she understood the emotions and wished there was something she could do to ease it.
"Maybe she will forgive you.... there is always hope..." Looking up she touched her paw to his own, lilac eyes soft and trusting. He was such a nice cheetah, gentle and kind and helpful, as well as smart and fun and great to spend time with. She was certain his lady would forgive him whatever it was he had done, or thought he had done.

"She's going to wonder," he choked, "Why I took her and not her siblings, and why I left her somewhere anyway." His mind hadn't registered what it might sound like to her, he was tired. It felt nice to have her leaning against him, the usual sense of revulsion that existed when he was around other species seemed to have faded away with her comfort. He didn't want to be forgiven, he wanted a whole new chance. He might not screw up if he tried again. His mind was acting strange, it was too deep. He didn't like it, it was much easier to think only about himself.

Feeling him relax and lean into her, she gently settled close against him, offering her warmth and touch in the hopes it would ease some of his burden, at least for a little while. "I am sure if you explained, she would understand..." She replied softly, gently nuzzling his cheek with her own in comfort.
She didn't really understand what he had said, but the fact that it was important to him, and clearly painful, was far more relevant in her eyes. She was sure there was a story behind the comments that made sense, but er concern was the pain in his voice. Ne female, who was loved as much as his obviously was, would want that pain to be there.
Gently, she looped her tail round his back, and began to purr very faintly in her throat, hoping to reassure and sooth him. "It will work out.. you will see..." She murmured softly.
