There were others! Even more!
She realised that there were several adult Pae's and a group consisting of two young ones too, quite similar to her, but had the leathery wings and tail instead of her halo and feathers. She was so shocked to see everyone, and so comfortable in this hot and scratchy place, that for a moment she didn't hear the Merion and had instead plunged one foot into the water, soaking herself.
"Ow..." she uttered softly, fumbling with her hands. The she looked up, her face all serious, "what are parents...?"
Draei moved closer towards Dax behind the comforting rocks. She wasn't at all sure she wanted to meet the others.....
Then she blinked..."You have a tail..." and her voice trailed off. In the shallow pool, a large blue finned tail laid calmly in attached to the Pae Dax.
"Parents are...well, the ones that look after you. You can't be out here all alone...can you?" He watched Draei, wondering if she really did live by herself. He knew how that was; after all, he had grown up by himself. He didn't think Aions spent much timewith parents anyway, but for Pae, he had thought it was different. Well, maybe it was different only for some.
"What are you doing? Are you scared of them?" he asked, realization dawning on him. Perhaps she had never seen these Pae before and was just about as eager to march right up to them as he was. He wondered with a shock if maybe this was her first time seeing other Pae too.
"Huh?" He glanced down. "Oh...yeah, that...well, I didn't always look like this...but my tail is almost the only thing left of the old me. I wasn't a pae, like you or them," he gestured carelessly at the group on the beach. "I was what you might call an Aion." He smiled bitterly at her, not wanting her to see the pain in his eyes. He had never asked to become this. He was happy living as an ordinary Aion. And now...now he wasn't sure what he was.

Woobie smiled as he watched the two hug. "How sweet." He then turned to Bob. "Yeah, how is everything these days?"
Regan stepped back from the hug at first then hugged back. "Choke me!" He teased his sister and then ran around Woobie's legs. He really wanted to play.

She tilted her head slightly, before making her way next to the Merion, and getting her feet all wet now. The sand no longer felt gritty beneath the water, in fact it was now pleasantly cool and swishy. She sat down next to him, on a jutting rock so the rest of her stayed dry, with only her halo peeping out above, so she was relatively hidden from the other Pae's.
Draie was not completely sure she wanted to meet the others, they seem loud, and to say the truth, she was fasinated by this new pae with a fish tail. The one other Pae she has seen looked like the ones with leather wings on those children.
"I dont know..." she said, thinking for awhile, "I've always been alone, except for him" gesturing gently to the floating orb flitting about her. "Is he my parent then? He's always around..."
The young angelic child soon lost interest though and went back to the tail. She didn't notice his bitter smile, but could tell from his voice that he wasn't very happy. Draei however was delighted, it looked cool! All flowy and shiny.....
Happily, she splashed some water with her tiny feet and watched the sprinkles create more colors over the Merion's gills. "What do you do with it?" she asked, beaming up at him with a happy smile.

"Things are great. My kids are grown, they have a band at the bar called Jazz and the Beach Bums. Nice to meet you both." He smield and waved to the two little ones.

"And nice meeting you too!" Kymo replied. "I'd really like to come over to listen to your band sometime." She clung to Woobie's arm and rested her head on his shoulder, her expression one of pure bliss. The sunshine felt so good.
Aislinn giggled and chased her brother, her tail nearly tripping her once, and her wings getting in the way, but she didn't mind. She was having too much fun to care. However, just as she close enough to touch him, she stumbled over a crab and fell.
"I suppose he could be your parent," Dax replied to the little Pae uncertainly, eyeing the little floating orb, "But he doesn't seem like much company...and I don't know how he'd be able to look after you. Ahh! Hey, cut it out!" He yelped, putting his hands up as she splashed water on him. "I surrender!"
He fell backward into the water like a fallen soldier, then twirled onto his stomach and swam around the boulder like a torpedo, his tail flashing under the clear water. Finally, he emerged, his hair and skin how drenched, and his tail partway out of the water, flicking a few drops at Draei. "That," he told her proudly, "is what I do with it. Swimming is, of course, one of my favoirte hobbies, and I'm glad I still have my tail to do it. I knew all these awesome tricks and stunts, but I'm not sure how well I can do them in this body."
He had hoped to take the little one's mind off of anything awkward or sad that may have been troubling her, as well as himself.

Woobie smiled, "Yes, that sounds nice. What kind of music do you play?" Woobie watched the children played and chuckled, they were so cute. He never thought he could be so happy.
Regan turned around and laughed at his sister, but when he saw her fall over he ran to her side. "You kay?" He didn't want his sister to be hurt.

Hula Bob smiled and nodded. "There is a Valentine's Day Dance on Valentine's day. I'm sure they will play then." he told Kymo. "I make them play Hawaiian and island music, but Jet writes his own music. Jet is Jazz's son." Hula bob explained to Woobie with a smile.

"Oww..." she moaned, sitting up. Then she looked at Regan. "Yeah, me okay."
Then with a wide grin, she touched him lightly on the shoulder and said, "Tag!" and got up, nimbly leaping over the crab this time. It was a good thing the sand was so soft.
"That sounds amazing!" Kymo exclaimed, after she was sure the children were alright. "I think it'd be wonderful to go. What do you think, Woobie? We could take Regan and Aislinn. I think they'd enjoy that."

Regan giggled, "I get you!" He scrambled after his sister, trying his hardest to catch up. He went aroudn the crab that she had tripped on, no way would he make the same mistake.
"Oh, yeah, I would love to go. I think the kids would love it as well." He smiled, "We love it there, Bob. You are a great grill owner."

"Awesome, awesome. I hope to see the King and Queen there. With the little prince and princess." Hula Bob watched the little ones with a smile. It seemed like only yesterday Luau LuLu and Jet were that little.

Her eyes widened in surprise, and an unexpected giggle came out of her. Even more surprised, she clamped her hands over her mouth and slid further down. What a sound!
She had momentarily forgotten there were others around, but their voices had been getting louder...she hope they didn't hear her!
Slowly she waded back into the pool, eyes intent on the tail, "can you teach me how to do that?"

Aislinn giggled as her brother caught up to her. "No fair!" she cried, and turned around to catch him again.
"Aislinn, Regan, don't go to close to the water!" Kymo warned them, concern written on her face.
Aislinn paused in her tracks and asked Regan curiously, "Why mommy no want us in water?" though she thought she had seen the answer before, there, in her mother's eyes. She was distracted temproarily when she noticed the Pae adult called 'Uncle Hula Bob' smiling at them, and waved to him, returning his smile. She was really curious about that long thing in his hand.
Dax grinned crookedly at her. "Well, Draei, I could try, but I don't want you to drown...I suppose I could hold you up when you're learning how to swim. You look like you've got swimming legs, so I'm sure you'll learn quickly enough," he said, winking.

Woobie smiled, "That would be great." He looked down at the children, "Listen to your mother." He knew her fear and flet a pang of it himself.
"Yes, fair!" Regan giggled and then stopped at his Mom's voice. "Ok!" He wasn't one to question his parents, unlike his sister.

Hula Bob sat down and laid the surf board near him. It seemed like the little Aislinn was looking at it. He winked at her and her brother. Hula Bob wasn't sure why they were worried about the water, he had taken Luau LuLu surfing as soon as she was a child. Still, different paes do different things.

Draei smiled, very sweetly too. She toddled closer, then peeped out from beside the rock at the other Paes who are all gathering together and laughing.
Half wondering what they were doing, her thoughts quickly disappeared when the zesty Orb flew around her head and darted away.
Silently giggling, she peered back at Dax, "How do I get a tail like you?"
