"Mm...." It was an issue she knew would be risen at some point. She had been thinking about this issue herself for days.
"We can not know what the future holds for us....the roads may change as then i will just have to show him a new route back to here....." She looked at Boni, then her Elder. "I'll do whatever i have to so we don't have to be separated...."
Blushing at the second question she looked down at the ground, "Children...." The thought was a pleasant one. She couldn't wait to have babies with her mate, but that would have to wait until things were more stable. "I could go visit him...and he could visit me....and maybe the kits could switch off every once and awhile to see their other parent." She looked at Boni, wanting his input.

Boniface's eyes stared off in the distance, his head tilted ever so slightly in Embry's direction as she talked. When she finished he straightened back up. "If I can make here and back on my own it will be similar to expanding my sense of territory. It's in my nature to slowly explore. Excepting a major disaster for a sudden change, I will begin to learn the land between our homes. A change in route would be possible for me to make."
He fell silent for a moment, thinking. He knew children were part of a hazy one day and from time to time he'd thought about it. He didn't have a definte answer he could give, but he gave Kithara his answer for as far as he'd thought it out.
"It would be in their best interest perhaps to stay with their mother. If any wish to come live with me they may, I am well able to look after one." He was positive he could too, but the difficulty would come in the aspect of his blindness. Not in looking after the kits, with their noisy nature and scent he'd always be able to watch after them. It was just little things that made Boniface prefer they grow up with their mother in a tribe.
"I can come to visit, perhaps even live in the area at the edge of the tribe until the children are grown, so that they will not have to travel so far to come see me. My living situation might even change before then. However it is decided we will make sure any children we have will know both of their parents."

Kithara eyed Boniface, noting that he spoke the most between the two. She wrapped her tail around her body, ears flicking in silence. If Boniface learned the route and alternate routes than it should be fine, yes? And he seemed devoted. Though was that enough? Her eyes flicked between the two yet again.
"Yet is that fair to the kits? Why should they have to choose between parents? Kits should not be stuck with just one parent, but both, don't you think? How will you compensate for the lost time? Though kits are a blessing, I worry about how they would feel if they hardly saw one parent, or never saw them both together."

"I grew up without my mother, never met her once," Boniface replied. He didn't go much detail about it, it wasn't a story he liked to just hand out to anyone. "I believe Embry grew up alone," he continued, tilting his head towards his mate with his face scrunched in recall. "Forgive me, but it is common for our kind to grow up with a single parent, or alone. To know both can be rare, to have a tangible bond with both even rarer."
Boniface sighed, a weary sound as though he could feel the a heavy weight upon his shoulders. "As I said before I am able to find a way to be physically closer to your lands so they would not have to choose." He hoped he wasn't being to straightforward, and that he wasn't upsetting Embry by speaking somewhat out of turn. He was willing to bet Kithara was one of the rare foxes that had grown up with both parents though, and wondered if she would truly be able to understand.

Embry nodded her head, "That's right....I grew up without either of my parents....and while I would love to have me and Boni raise our children together it is unlucky that it will happen....At least not all the time....We can really only try to do our best, right?" She looked at Boni, "He has agreed to move closer to the tribe while the kits are being raised, what more could we do Elder..." She stated frankly, hoping she didn't upset her Elder.
"Even if Boni was a member of the tribe, I still have my duties to attend to which would take me away from the kits.....So i believe when that happens they should be with their father....Kits can't remain with both parents all the time or when would they ever learn to be self-suficient....No children of mine would ever grow up with a loss for love....from their mother of his father, i will see to that. I know all too well what it is like to grow up with neither parents and I would never let that happen to my kits. Boni and I will always find a way to be together, Elder."

Kithara stared at the two, tail flicking as she thought. True, she had been blessed with two parents, now that she thought about Amy was raised by only her mother, and she was fine. Blind, yes, but that was not her mothers fault. She knew a few foxes who were fine and hadn't had parents. The kits would have both parents, though in different areas. Her eyes narrowed as the two spoke about who the kits would stay with. Embry said the father, Boniface said the mother.
This would need to be dealt with.
"If you two were to want to try to have kits, I want you both back here to discuss it with me." She decided this was best, right now the two didn't seem interested in kits, and she needed to see how they worked together. "Until then, you two will be on trial. I would happily agree to you two being lifemates, but in two months I'd like to meet with you both and ask about how things are. If you both are happy then you both pass. If not...well...then things will have to change."

"That sounds quite reasonable," Boniface said, shifting his body to a more comfortable position. He turned one of his ears towards Embry to hear her reaction. The whole subject of kits was a moot point to him at the moment, though he supposed Kithara was perfectly in her rights to ask. He couldn't see it happening anytime soon though, plently of time for that. And who knew what life would be like then? Wasn't that a saying of some kind, that the only thing constant in life was change?

Embry beamed, "Thank you Kithara!" Over enthused she tackled the Elder and licked her face happily, her tail wagging in the air. Then she realized what she had done and blushed prettily. "O....Oh....I'm sorry..." She pulled away, "I just....got so excited that I didn't realize...." She went back over to Boni and nuzzled his neck. "Thank you Elder...I promise you nothing will happen in two months.....You'll see that Boni and me are meant to be together....and when the time comes to have kits....We'll figure out what to do..." She smiled and licked Boni's muzzle, "Everything is going to work out."

Kithara laughed as she was tackled, not the kind of elder to be angered by the show of affection. She raised herself as Embry leapt off, nodding at the two. "I hope so." She said, nodding. She would to force the two apart, they were both good for one another. She knew Amy was blind, and so she didn't doubt Boni much. Amy was able to move about on her own just fine, stumbling once in awhile but that was it. She was merely worried about the fact of Boni traveling to Yasashii lands, but time would tell.
"Do you two have any questions?"

Embry shook her head, "No Elder.....I am content..." She snuggled up to her mate, knowing that nothing would change in the next two months and they were as good as mates.

The smallest of thoughtful frowns creased Boniface's brow. "I can think of only one for the time being. Tribes, and even individual foxes can be territorial. Is there a limit to how far I may enter your lands? Otherwise I will track Embry until I find her and I would not like to trespass."

"Our tribe actually wants travelers, we want people to approach us because Yasashii is a place to give travelers a home, medicine, and care until they are ready to leave. So no, you can walk up to our camp. We do not mind. Do not worry if one of our members stops you, it's just to bring you to our camp and make sure you're not a threat."
She shook her head, crossing her paws before smiling at Boni, even if he couldn't see it. "We welcome travelers."

Boniface nodded, a small smile crossing in face in response to Kithara's smile. He couldn't see it, but he could hear it. A lot of others had asked how one could hear a smile, but it wasn't something you could really explain. If you knew how someone talked, you could easily tell when a person was smiling, frowing, or most other facial expressions.
"Thank you, Elder Kithara. For everything." Answering his question, not judging him because he was blind, allowing him and Embry to be together. There was a lot to thank her for.

"You have made us so happy Kithara...." She nuzzled her mate with the most content smile on her face. "I could never thank you enough for this...." She smiled at Boni and licked his cheek.

Kithara watched the two, smiling fondly. "Of course." She said simply, watching the two snuggle and cuddle. Really, she wondered what it was about having a mate that made someone happy. Herself? She doubted it. She didn't have time for a mate, right? Right. Though, there had been a male she had liked once. But that hardly mattered. Her own affairs with love were trivial and pointless, they wouldn't last long. Kithara was a busy fox, and she looked out for her tribe. She wasn't going to sacrifice her tribe for some love, it needed her full attention.
However, she was happy that Embry was happy. Boniface hardly seemed the fox to hurt her, and if Kithara was wrong, well, she'd take it hard. Though, she prayed to Dahlia that she wasn't wrong. She had always thought herself a good judge on character.
