Only one of Manuku's full siblings were not in the Pridelands right now, and that was Kikimu. And she didn't look like him or mom, she looked like dad. The closest one to him and mom would be.. Mab. She if she had a cub, he'd know about it. He knew how much Zi supposedly looked like maternal family but really.. the only problem he saw with believing his mother had more cubs and was around here was.. why would she come back here like this after abandoning them like she did?
"Maybe," he murmured, not willing to verbalize his thoughts on that.
"Haha!" Marini said, mostly to herself since nobody was really talking to her-- but she looked off to Manny with a smile, "And we were just talking about how unusually gigantic your family is. Maybe it's a little bigger than you thought!"
She decided it couldn't be another child or grandchild of his, she was quite sure none of his daughters looked too much like him and if he had another mate it wouldn't have looked like him, too. She could work that much out! She did, however, think of siblings.
"Maybe you have twenty-two siblings," she said impressively, "Or twenty-eight or however you want to count it."

Liyana was momentarily distracted from the confusing topic at hand by the astoundingly large number of siblings Manuku had. "Woooow." She stared at Marini. "Twenty-two? That's crazy." She shook her head, trying to imagine what it would be like back at home with twenty-two cubs running around. She hadn't caught on to the meaning that Marini was putting into it. Instead, she was only focused on the number. It was beyond comprehension for her. "I have seven siblings, you know. Se-Ven." She had originally thought that was quite a lot. Her mother had made plenty of comments about how many little ones she had. Perhaps seven was a SMALL amount? Having never actually seen another litter before, she was now questioning it. "How did your mom have twenty-two babies. That is nuts."

Marini had too easy of a time suggesting that-- but he was overreacting, he shouldn't care so much what his mother did, especially when he wasn't sure. He stared as Liyana explained that she had seven siblings, mentally noting that that would take him up to twenty-nine if he and Marini were right. Liyana's childish question about having twenty-two babies distracted him.
"My mom didn't have twenty-two babies," he said, his voice almost finding a less stunned and more appropriate tone, "My dad had babies with other moms, that's how the number got so big."
"Wow, that'd be .. twenty-nine!"
Marini was keeping up with the math, too, though Manny didn't seem to be paying her much attention now. She didn't think he should be so surprised, his dad had a bunch of his siblings with other lionesses, why wouldn't his mother ever have more? He hadn't said much about his mother but she had left, not died. So it was completely reasonable!

"OH." She giggled for the first time since she had seen Manuku and Marini, laughing at the idea of a lioness having twenty-two babies. How silly of her. "I get it." If she could've, she would've blushed. Absently, she wondered if her own dad had more kids out there. It didn't occur to her to wonder if her mom had more cubs out there, since they had only discussed that Manuku's father was the one with multiple litters. The idea of her parents not being solely with eachother did not even remotely bother her, since her parents weren't really a cutesy couple anyway. They were nice with eachother, they were friends, but there wasn't a whole lot of affection. Only in a flirty way. Not that Li truly understood any of this, but it was just that the general feeling at home was a friendly one. It didn't seem like much of an issue if there were other litters out there.
"Twenty-nine. That is something! Hold on, wait. Didn't you say twenty-two before?" Simple math evaded the youngster. She was completely oblivious that Marini was adding the number she had said to what was said before.

Manny couldn't help but glare when Marini announced her mathematical findings and brought the question up with the cub. There was no way to avoid finding this out, now, so he had to ask.
"What's your mother's name, Liyana?" he asked, "Do you know it?"
For how reluctant he felt, it didn't show in his voice. Maybe he did want to know for sure, if it was a simple fact he'd have to deal with it being a reality that his mother was not only around here somewhere but also having more cubs.
Marini opened her mouth to explain her math but Manuku cut in and asked about the cub's mother before she could say what she was thinking. Had she the chance, she wouldn't have bothered keeping any secrets from the little one- she hadn't yet been doing it intentionally. It seemed obvious to her but whatever.. if Manny needed to hear it for sure.. sure.

"Intombi." Liyana was unawares that her mother had a full, official name, but it didn't really matter. She was a little surprised at the question, but it brought her back to the idea that her mother and Manuku's mother may be related. What would that make Manny to her? She didn't know the title for her mother's sibling's children. She also didn't have any idea what was going on, aside from the fact that she and this lion shared a resemblance and that this lion and her mother shared an even greater resemblance. Enough to have caught her off guard.
She just KNEW she'd find something interesting digging holes today.

He wasn't surprised by her answer in the least but he didn't like it being confirmed either. There couldn't be many Intombis that he looked like, that would be more ridiculous. But this was still ridiculous! He could feel a variety of emotions bubbling up in him but he knew he had to keep himself under control, especially in front of .. his little sister.
He opened his mouth to say something but Liyana wasn't making the connection or asking questions and he wasn't sure what to say now that she had confirmed it. Clearly mom hadn't told her about him and his siblings, was it really his place to do that? He looked to Marini for help- though he realized quickly that probably wouldn't be good and that she was about ready to say something so he acted quickly.
"Marini, we should get going," he said.
Just as Marini had introduced Manuku when he was silent before, she was about ready to interrupt and take charge of the conversation again- she didn't know his mother's name but she already figured her guess was right and Manuku's reaction had confirmed it for her.
"Wel--"
Her ears perked up and she looked at Manny, confused.
"We're leaving?"

"Oh." She looked down at her toes, wondering if she had done or said something incorrect. Perhaps Intombi was not related to this lion after all, and he was no longer interested. How bizarre that he was her clone, then. "Alright. I guess I better be going, too." Really, she didn't have to get going any time soon, but she felt that since they were leaving she should as well. She quickly decided she would drag her new prize bone with her back home and get cleaned up. That would work.
She suddenly realized that she might never see these two again. "Do you think I'll see you again?" She sounded a little hopeful. Though Manny somewhat weirded her out with is bizarre behavior and the fact that he was her mother's clone, she did very much like Marini, though she wasn't certain why.

"Sure thing, kiddo!" Marini's attention was back on Liyana before Manny could cut her off again. She seemed so disappointed that they were leaving and she was so adorable, she shouldn't be sad! Too bad they had to leave- there had to be a reason, even if Manny wasn't saying it.
"We're all friendly here, you could come right in and find us anytime!"
"Marini, let's go," he said, staring as she invited Liyana to drop by anytime. He wasn't about to say no but he wasn't eager to make it easier, either. He was aware he was freaking her out a little bit but he didn't want to stay there now. He was still several paces away from Marini so he had to wait for her to come to him before he could turn and leave. His eyes stayed fixed on her, willing her to give in.
"Oh, fine," she sighed, glancing back at Liyana, "Take care, Liyana!" She smiled at her and then walked back over to Manny and they started on their way back home.

"Ok, bye!" She called after Marini, and very less to Manny. He sure was a grump! He may LOOK like her mother, but he wasn't acting like her. With a shrug, Liyana worked on picking up an end of her bone and dragged it a couple feet. Whenever she finally got this thing home, she sure had a story to tell. Who she'd tell first she didn't know. Maybe she'd go straight to her mama! Or maybe she'd stick a safer sibling first, test out the water with the story. It was a little weird, after all.
Either way, she now had the story of the Intombi-clone and a bone to show off tonight.
