"I think you have too much faith in me," Paris said, but he was still smiling. It was nice to sit here and just talk. He didn't really do that with people. "It's one thing to be talented, and I don't act modest and pretend like I'm not, but making it big requires more than just talent. If someone really doesn't want to work with me because of how I think or act, or even because I'm gay, they won't give me a role no matter how talented I am. I'll try. I'm not going to say I won't. I love dancing. I've been doing it since I was small, so it's not something I'm just going to give up, but at the same time I don't expect much. Too many expectations always end up leading to disappointment."

Which was why he tried so hard not to expect so much out of anyone. It was growing harder and harder to keep that distance with Ladon, though. He felt comfortable enough with him to open up about his life more than blunt comments about his sex life, to share more than gossip and random stories about his many exploits. With Ladon he could actually talk about things that mattered, the sorts of things that normal people discussed and planned for when they talked about the future.

"I'm surprised you don't want to go to college," he commented, finishing his soup, pausing to tip the bowl toward his mouth so that he could drink the last of the broth before setting the bowl aside. "Isn't that the thing to do nowadays? Go to college and get a good degree so you can get a good job? It seems like something you'd do, seeing as how proper you are. You know, you always have to do things the right way. Not that I don't agree with you about the school thing. I guess college isn't for every one."

After Hillworth, he couldn't see himself continuing with school, if he even managed to make it all the way through high school. He could hardly sit through a single class without feeling like it was a waste of his time, and even though he could study things more to his interests in college, the whole idea of taking the time and spending the money to do so just didn't appeal to him. He'd much rather go ahead and try to make his way in the world, however he ended up doing it.

"Your house sounds nice," Paris said, shifting a little closer to Ladon. He tugged a bit of the blanket away from him so they could share, not bothering to ask before doing so. "You're probably more likely to have something like that than I am. I bet you'll be the more successful one, the one who actually does something to be proud of. Me, I'll just keep drifting from here to there. Maybe I'll catch a break, maybe I won't. I'm more the type to live in the moment anyway."

Usually he valued his space and even felt tense around anyone who came to close, but in a sleepy, now-full state, he was happily content, warm, and even calm. Less self-conscious of himself and others, he leaned back, and adjusted himself to be considerate and offered Paris' more blankets as if it was natural that Paris would demand some. Of course it was. It was winter and he was probably cold.

As he sank more into his seat, he started to lean, and his eyes started to drift shut again. Barely open, he nodded. "Who knows? You could hit it big and I'll bet the one finding it hard. You should still look ahead to the future. It's nice to set your eyes on something. It drives you. Keeps hope up and keeps your focus." He nudged Paris a little. "Don’t be such a downer. Think good thoughts."

Lapsing into a moment of silence, he leaned a little more in Paris' direction, before stopping. "You could always stay at my place if you wind up homeless. Bring your cats." He offered, smiling that he would at least provide a stable haven in case Paris wound up bouncing around and just wound up without a place to plop down. He already saw the boy around fighting guys and drunk, and had a pretty good idea that he was rather okay with whatever else the boy got up to – as long as he didn't hear the details. "...just like now. You know where I live and it's better than a ditch or a sleazy hotel." And better if it kept him away from sleazy people.

"You have such high hopes for me, Lady," Paris said, laughing lightly. He inched closer again when Ladon didn't seem all that opposed to sharing a blanket, his arm brushing lightly against one of Ladon's pajama clad ones. "But I might take you up on your offer. You'll just have to get used to seeing me walk around in my underwear."

Although Paris might find it in himself to be kind and restrict himself to panties that were a little less revealing than some of the ones he owned.

"Even if it'd be kinda sad to be homeless, I kinda like the idea the way you say it," he admitted. "You and me, together. It'd be fun, wouldn't it? Better than living in the dormitories. I'd rather stay here with you than go back to school." There was the problem of Ladon's mother, of course. Paris still wasn't too sure how well she'd respond to him. He supposed he could always pretend to be a girl, but then he didn't know if she'd like the idea of Ladon spending time at home alone with a girl, and if he revealed himself to be a boy right off the bat, well... she might find his cross-dressing a little hard to handle.

Not that it mattered at the moment. He was content to sit on the couch with Ladon and forget about such complicated matters. "You should try to take a nap or something. Do you need more medicine? You should be taking some every few hours. I brought some with me if you're running out."

The idea was nice, and it was a happy, pleasant image to drift him to sleep. Ever since Paris came, he had felt content with his company, and no longer bored and frustrated with being alone. Being warm, with pleasant talk and company, dreaming dreams of the future and heavy with some hearty soup, Ladon was now loosing the good fight against sleep, and was on the borderland only enough to nod and mutter responses to his friend. I'm up. I'm up! He tried, showing he was listening and not being rude, but soon he barely moved his head.

At the mention of medicine, he slowly, just barely, shook his head. "…no medicine…." He whispered, not liking the idea of getting up to get it, moving to take it, or having Paris leave to get it. Shuffling a little, he turned and rested his head against Paris' side, making his friend into a makeshift pillow. Paris had suggested a nap, and Ladon was now two steps ahead of him. The boy's warm sweater made an excellent pillow, and both under the covers, they could contribute and share the heat.

It seemed Elliot, the dog plush he kept with him when dozing, was forgotten on the other end of the couch in favor of a warmer friend to nap and cuddle with.

Oh, well, if Ladon was just going to rest against him like that... Paris was a little surprised, but he didn't show it, slowly sliding an arm behind his friend to grant him a little more support... and maybe to pull him just a little bit closer, because it felt nice. Ladon was so warm. Of course, that was probably the fault of the fever, but he was confident he wouldn't catch whatever the other boy had. Considering all the dirty, unseemly things he got himself into, Paris had developed quite a good immune system.

He couldn't tell if Ladon's 'no medicine' meant he hadn't taken some in a while or he didn't need anymore, but he decided not to question and fight him on it, smiling serenely at him instead. He shifted a bit to get more comfortable, sinking a little more onto the couch so he was half laying, half sitting. He had no problems being used as a teddy bear or plush toy, though he had a strong feeling Ladon would be a little freaked out and embarrassed the next time he woke up.

When it seemed Ladon had drifted off to sleep, Paris considered getting up to take the bowls and cups back into the kitchen to wash them, before deciding it could wait. He liked this, feeling like he belonged; he thought he could stay like this all afternoon and be happy, without feeling as if the day had been wasted.

Sighing softly in contentment, Paris leaned a little more of his weight against Ladon, curling up on the couch with him and closing his eyes. Not long after, he joined Ladon in the land of dreams, a small smile still decorating his face.
