Ewan Sheilds
Trapped like rats.

Leaning forward to take a drink of whatever was being offered, Ewan found himself to be somewhat relieved as the blond took the bottle instead. As soon as Corey got the bottle back he stashed it so that wasn't going to be an option till later. Turning to see yet another girl swagger into the room like she owned the place, Ewan was sure that she would eventually bite off more than she could chew, posibly taking the rest of the collected group with her. Corey on the other hand seemed to be that bit more realistic about things. His small rant about setting Them on fire sounded like he had tried already. "I've got a bat here. There are brooms in the cupboard over there. Anyone that doesn't already have something to use can take the poles out of them. at least something was looking good since he had reached the room. Now he would be able to defend himself when those things came. Standing on the head, Ewan snapped the pole off of the broom and smiled at the spiked end that was left. "I don't think that a hairspray flamethrower would do much. They don't have that great a reach and as Corey said, do you really want one of Them coming at you on fire? I say get a pole or something similar."

A loud thump at the door was enough to catch everyones attention. As the hand streaked across the high up window, red tracks were left where the fingers dragged. Two gueeses what it was. "You gothy b***h! You led one right to us! Why didn't you use that ******** brain of yours and check to see if you were being followed or not. ********> "Whoa, take it easy. It's hardly her fault. The place is filled with them. Wait. Quiet for a second." Straining his ears, Ewan got as close to the door as he dared. The screaming had stopped. There were no more voices outside other than the inhuman groans from whatever the school had turned into. And one was snuffling right outside the door, no doubt following their voices. The question was, Now what?

Becca Friedrich

Becca felt a bit unnerved when Corey had looked over at her. What was he, a senior? She didn't dwell on it long, though. Probably too quickly, two girls had joined up with their group. Out of the two, she was probably more scared of the one with all the tattoos. She also seemed a little old to still be in high school. But that didn't really matter now. As long as they weren't infected, anyone would be welcome company.

When the topic of weapons was brought up, she almost began to panic. There was finally a drawback to being a pacifist. They were facing what was most likely the end of all humanity as they knew it, and she had nothing to protect herself with. Wait, now was definitely not the time to be freaking out. She had to think about what else she might have. She had pencils, they were sharp, and she had a good amount of them, but they probably wouldn't do much. There were textbooks, if Becca anywhere near brave enough to be within a five-foot radius of those 'things', she could probably gain enough momentum to knock of a head or something. Holy Einstein, she was actually thinking of decapitation!

There was a chance she had something else, but the odds were against her for actually having it. Despite the improbabilities, she closed up the textbook she had been writing in, put her pencil behind her ear, and cautiously unfurled herself from the corner to remove her pack from her back. Hastily and with little hope, she rummaged through the contents. Pencils, textbooks, more pencils...Aha! With her left hand, she pulled out what looked to be a handhled shovel with a very pointed end. Out of all the times she had accidentally brought her gardening trowel to school, this was most fortunate.

The sudden thump on the door shook through Becca's system, causing her to jump up and plaster herself against the wall. Biting back a yelp of fear as her heart began to race. Oh Darwin, why did this have to happen to her? Shakily, she held onto the trowel with both hands and held it out in front of her. If that...thing got in here - she really didn't have the heart to call it human - she at least wanted to make some form of effort to stay alive.

Lorne Martinez
Lone Wolf? Maybe not for long.

The phone call to the police had visibly shaken Lorne. Understandable. Even if it was implied, when he called home at least he didn't get any sure-fire signs of this illness, this disease, spreading outside the confines of the school. How far it reached out, he couldn't say, but he did know that it was at least up to the police station. Lorne was at a loss for action. What else was he supposed to do? What could he do?

Lorne needed to take a few minutes to think this through. He let out a sigh, closed his eyes, and began brain-storming. Or at least he would have started brain-storming, but a bang and a voice bleeding through the wall caught his attention. "You gothy b***h!" Lorne opened his eyes. An understandable sentence! A possible sign of hope! You led one too us! ....... ********> Okay, so maybe it wasn't as big of a hope spot as he thought. They were still in the same situation he was in, but at least he might have a small group to help him. How odd that he wanted to be a part of a group.

Something else concerned him. "You led one right to us" didn't sound like a good thing. Lorne needed to get their attention. The possibility of one of those zombie-like things shambling around right outside the door wasn't going to make that easy. Running to the door was liable to get him eaten. Banging on the wall was just going to hurt his hand, and they might not even hear it! Even if they did, there was a chance they would think it was a zombie locked in a room. Then a thought occurred to him.

'Well, i guess it's worth a shot.' He took a deep breath and banged his foot against the wall as hard as he could. It wasn't just random beating, he was banging his foot to the first couple of notes of the school's Alma Mater. It didn't last long though; the pain got him to stop quick enough. "Owww....that hurt a lot more than i thought it would." He whispered to himself.

((wasn't sure which shade of purple was right....))

((oh and the "...." is the sentence Lorne couldn't make out through the wall.))

Becca Friedrich

To say that Becca freaked out when something banged against the wall, practically right behind her, would be a vast understatement. A horrible noise that sounded like a mix between a shreik and a gasp escaped her lips, her hands clasped aganist her chest as if afraid her heart had stopped beating, eyes wide in shock. Without thinking, she snatched up her backpack and dived behind a chair a lot closer to where the others in the group were standing. Her left hand, which was now holding the trowel alone and aimed towards the origin of the banging, was shaking badly. Normally, she would criticize herself for overreacting and quietly apologize to anyone nearby. But they were barricaded in a room, hiding from suddenly cannibalistic peers. Her actions were highly justified.

It took a minute or two of deep breathing for her to calm down. She began to think logically instead of instinctually once more, which brought up something odd about the banging. Those 'things' that wanted to eat them weren't nearly neurologically organized enough to produce any sort of rhythm. Despite the fact that they used to be human as well.

"Was..was it just me...Or did that sound sort of familiar?" Becca asked aloud, hoping that for once she wasn't the only one thinking that.

"If you don't shut up, I'll get out the duct tape."

►► Hazel gagged at the bloody marks on the window, silently creeping to the cupboard with the brooms and pulling one out. It was wood and heavy in her hands, not too much to slow her down but enough to do some damage. As she put one foot on the brush part, pulling it from the pole roughly and lifted it in her left hand. Even if the fire would probably not do too much good, she could still light the end and use it to (possibly) ward off the zombies. And she had a bottle of water in her bag to put it out.

Her heart hammered in her chest at the inhuman groans and she resisted the urge to shriek as she heard them getting closer to the door. The muffled thump near the wall. Warily, she backed up, studying both the door and the window. Of course, she may have looked a little stupid, but she was worried (and disturbed), although that was to be expected.

*groan groan* ... God damn it!

Swiftly turning with his crowbar raised when the hand scraped down the window, Corey backed away from it slowly, trying to keep his eyes focused straight ahead.
"Dave calm down... Shouting will only attract more." He said slowly and if anything slightly maliciously, Dave was starting to grate on his not normally well held nerves. and in this situation it would be even harder to resist the temptation to pummel the b*****d. His words only just surfaced over the groans and scrapes at the entrance, and only serious exit to the room... They were effectively trapped, he knew it, and he was sure everyone else knew it too. Getting out now would involve some violence. The banging coming from the wall only made him all the more edgy but it seemed he wasn't the most unnerved.
Diverting his attention from the locked door for a moment Corey looked over at Becca
"Hey..." He said placing his hand on her shoulder as a reassuring gesture
"Calm down, the wall's nothing to worry about. It's solid concrete. That door on the other hand isn't and wont hold out forever, and it's out only way out..." The beats on the wall hadn't even registered with Corey, he didn't know the schools song. What he did know though was that Becca's trowel didn't have nearly enough reach to keep her safe, and the last thing he wanted was to see another pretty girl go down to those ******** eating his classmates...
"Right, plans... We need to get the ******** out that door. There's not a chance in hell I can see us pulling through if we say in this room... Wait, recognise what?"

Jamie Richardson

Jamie raised a brow at the room, completely ignoring Dave's comment. Obviously the best use for alcohol was to clean wounds they would inevitably get from running for their lives. Not that there weren't a number of explosives that could be made from the right kind any kind of alcohol. Not to mention, a little of somebodies Fido blood and 'ding' napalm. Yes it would take a while to kill a zombie with fire, but it would also spread and kill a lot of them. Jamie was thinking long term solutions here. If this was anything like...well they looked like zombies to her...the movies, then no matter how bad a** they were, they would die in the end if they didn't do something to cull the population.

But that was for later. For right now they were right, a blunt or sharp object was the ticket. Besides, you had to defend yourself while running away from the giant fire you caused...

"Do they still teach archery at this school?" she asked as she grabbed herself a broom and snapped off the end to give her a better stabbing point. Hopefully the movies had some truth to them, because she was going to aim for the neck and brain stem and see where that got her.

"We need transportation," she said to the others. "Something with four wheel drive, preferably, although I don't know how long we'll have to shop. Anyone have a car?"

Jamie seemed relatively unphased by the banging on the door. It would probably kill her eventually, but she would save her liquor and make some big fireworks when that happened.

Becca Friedrich

Becca glanced up at Corey from over her glasses, the slightest bit of disbelief in her features. "I..I'm fine, it just startled me a bit...That's all." She murmured in response, attempting to shrug his hand off of her shoulder without seeming ungrateful. What the hell had changed in the last 24 hours that suddenly made her seem so noticable?! Sure, they were forcibly being kept together by circumstances beyond their control, but that never stopped her peers from forgetting about her existence in similar, non-life-threatening situations. Normalcy just didn't seem to be on the agenda for today, with a flesh-eating whatever-it-was outside the door and whatnot.

"The uh...beating that was coming from the wall...It had a..um, rhythm to it...?" She stated, trying to speak up so most of the others could hear her. "What..Whatever is a-affecting...Them, out there..appears to have interfered with com..complex brain functions. Most of Their a-actions seem pure..purely instinctual. This fact b..brings the probability of one of Them to s-start pounding out Park's Alma Mater-uh, that means the sc-school song..to be highly unlikely." She paused to take in a gulp of air. "In...In other words, whatever is in..in the other r-room might still be alive."

Knowing that the wall was concrete didn't stop Becca from shivering a bit as she cautiously stepped back towards it. All scientific hypotheses had to be tested, and this was certainly no different. Using the trowel, she hit it against the wall -though not very roughly- to attempt to mimic the notes of music she thought she heard; although the trowel made more of a 'twang' noise than a 'thump'. Hopefully, she would get some proof that her line of thinking was correct.

Lorne Martinez
with a hurting foot paw.

Lorne was wiggling his toe with his foot raised after that nice little beating he had given it. He wasn't hopping on his foot, mind you, but it did look pretty close to it. Chances are he'd deny that though. "Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow. Okay.....Hopefully they heard something." Lorne whispered. He placed his foot down then placed his ear against the wall; if he didn't get a response, then hopefully the walls would be thin enough for him to make out what they were saying. At least then he could figure out what to do based off of their plans.

Putting his ear against the wall did help, he could distinguish between the different voices. It gave him a count of how many of them there were, more or less, though it was still a little hard to make out what they were saying. That probably had to do more with their distance from the wall more than anything. That wasn't important though, he could make out the gist of what they were saying anyways. What was important was what he heard after their speaking.

For the most part it seemed that they had thought that Lorne's banging was from a zombie. At least that's what that one guy had thought. 'C'mon, i know not everyone knows the song, but couldn't there at least be one per....' His thought was interrupted by a sound. There was a bang, well not really a bang, Lorne would describe it more as a gentle rapping, or tapping. Whatever works. It seemed that this person had tried to repeat the rhythm he had tapped out.

Lorne took his ear away from the wall and sighed. "This is gonna hurt me a lot more than i first thought." Again, he took a deep breath and held it, then kicked the wall to the rhythm of the school's Alma Mater. It probably would have been wiser to hi the wall with something other than his foot. Yet, he didn't think of that and just used his other foot instead.

Jamie Richardson

Taking a deep, quiet breath, Jamie listened to the tapping that was definitely human. Well, either it was human or they were all screwed. Intelligent flesh eating humanoids? Whole different ball game. Chills crawled up and down her spine.

"We can't leave them out there....so how about this." she got a firm grip on her broken broom. "Someone open the door and....Becca...and I will stab the thing. Everyone else stand back and watch, ready to back us up." she was talking fast but clearly. "Or take on any others if there are more. We pick up the other kid...then find a van or something. Whatever we decide, it can't hurt to have wheels. Then I think we need to find some other supplies. Guns if we can. I'm thinking hardware supply store."

Grocery store could be a good idea, but thinking of the amount of shoppers likely to be in a big store like that at any given time...it didn't sound good. No, they would be better to hit a convenience store at a gas station. They would need gas anyway.

She seemed calm but if you were very perceptive, you could see a tenseness in her that wasn't there previously. She wasn't afraid of dying, she told herself, but she didn't want to go out like this.

"What do we think?" her voice cracked a little when she spoke.

Time to start moving!

The thumps were definitely more than random, something that gave Corey a bit of a surprise as he actually recognised it. He had heard it from his first year here, something Corey didn't look back on a lot.
The plan though, sounded alright, but... a little too direct. There was a bit too much of a risk in blazing in like that.
"That... It could work. But I have a better way out of this. First, we don't know if whoever next door is in any shape to move. They could be bitten, or unarmed, or... Who knows. I'll climb around through the windows to next door, check on whoever before we even move, we don't wanna be hanging around after taking the biter out anyway, too much noise and it'll attract more.... From the other room I can jump the b*****d at the door from behind and we can all get way from here quickly.." He thought out loud checking the wide ledge of the window. As for something drivable there was the minibus in the garage from where he got his crowbar, and there was bound to be more tools in there that would be better than a broom pole.
"The minibus... We'll make our way there, and there's fuel in the garage too. Checking if our families are safe should come first... As much as my parents can be stuck up and piss me off they're still my parents... Another plus would be that it keeps us out of the city centre for as long as we can be, the suburbs at this time of day are likely to be pretty empty with everyone either at work or school or whatever. Empty houses also mean easy supply pickings killing two birds with one stone." Corey spoke as he opened the window. The air from outside billowed into the room, it smelled of burning, blood, screams....
"Right, if we get split up, move to the garage. And if everyone isn't there in thirty minutes leave..." This was their ultimatum, and Corey hoped they stuck to it.
Climbing onto the ledge , he shuffled down the wall and knocked on the glass next door.

Ewan Sheilds
Game plan

That feeling of doubt over what to do next, the one that he always seemed to have, washed away in the suggestions from the others. It seemed that Dave had done the same. "I'll open the door. Ewan, Jamie, You two try and spear it on the poles. I'll smack it one with my bat. Corey, you find out next door. Becca, Hazel, stand back. I don't want to lose anyone here. Either we all leave together, or not at all. You guys ready? As Dave was speaking, Ewan looked as best he could through the small window at the top of the door, He could just about see the top of It's head, which was covered in blond hair, but that was all he could make out. Stepping back, he aimed his pole at about chest height, wanting to definetly hit It when it came through the door. "Let's do this. Corey, you go, we'll handle this."

After waiting for a minute for everyont to prepair, and for Corey to get onto the ledge, Dave pushed the handle of the door down and let the door hang slightly open. With a smooth movement, he pulled it open and slid behind it, letting It through. As it lurched through the door, Ewan pushed with all his might, meeting far less resistance than he had expected, stabbing It through the shoulder and a small way into the door behind it. Seemingly unphased, It slid down the pole at Ewan, gnashing teeth and grasping it him as it did.

Jamie Richardson

Jamie was pretty impressed with Corey's plan. And pretty unimpressed that it had already been broken. Corey had wanted them to wait so he could check out the person next door, saying the noise would attract more and they might need time to deal with the other kid if he was injured. Before she could say anything the door swung open and it was on.

Ewan stabbed it straight in the shoulder with a sickening sucking sound. It mashed it's teeth and groaned loudly in the same manner it was before, walking itself down the pole. Maybe the movies were correct...she squared her grip on the broom and then jammed it towards it's throat, aiming to snap it's spine. The movement of the fight put her off and her broom rammed into his chest at an angle. The fact that the thing was still moving either meant that she had missed the spine, which was likely, or that wasn't enough to kill it.

The thing swiped at her and got a grip on her clothes, tearing at them in attempt to reach flesh. Jamie let out an involuntary cry, afraid that bringing her elbow down to break it's grip would jam it's hand into her if she did it wrong. She wasn't that confident.

Using her side angle against Ewans broom, she set her foot and tipped the thing to the ground. It was almost to Ewan and she hoped he could keep his footing. With the broom stuck firm in the thing, she didn't know what else to do. She brought her heavy boot down on it's head. Stomping as hard as she could. Without looking she brought her foot down again and again until she heard a crack beneath her. In a bit of a panic, she just kept on stomping.

A shoulder wound should hurt, a chest wound should kill a person. If she did hit the spine, then these things were completely different than anything and they were all royally ********. She wanted some form of control in her life that she had already lost and she just kept bringing her foot down, hoping to whatever God that it was even possible to kill them.

►► Hazel winced as she watched the fight. Not exactly because of the actual fight, but because of who the zombie was. "I'm sorry, Johnny." She whispered, before slamming the pole into his back. The end that she had torn the broom from was sharp and went straight through her little brother's back, hopefully at lest damaging his spinal cord and splitting his stomach. A gurgling noise filled the room for a moment, and although the zombie slowed down, it did not go limp as she had expected. Part of her was glad it didn't die, but the practical side of her brain shoved that thought through a door. Hazel. He is not your brother anymore. He is a flesh eating psychopath. She tried to listen to her thoughts and pulled the pole from its stomach, aiming for the back of the head.

Ewan Sheilds
Escape Artist

Stumbling slightly as Jamie flipped it to the ground, Ewan only looked up to see her smashing her foot into the pulp that had been it's head. Hoping to stop her from hurting herself by slamming her foot into solid concrete, he put his hand on her shoulder and lightly pulled her away from it. "Enough. It's definetly dead. I don't think it's going to get back up." Moving over to it Ewan rolled it over and pulled out his pole with a wet pop.He looked round the room at the small group that was there.

Becca, Hazel and Jamie, he could count on them if he needed to, that he could tell already. Corey was, quite lierally, hanging on the edge for someone he hadn't even seen before. Dave was.... Gone. Spinning stupidly on the spot, Ewan fully realised that he had used them as bait to keep it busy while he saved his own skin. "What a cowardly little s**t! And there I was thinking that he was alright. Well ******** him." Looking at his watch, he guessed that Corey should be nearly done with whoever was next door.
