Daffodil had been quite conflicted when it came to her next delivery. Of course there had to be a baby born to two of the creepiest people on Nirvani... or least the creepiest houses. She had debated whether to deliver Xochiquetzal's present at Mao's or Freja's, as either way it would reach her, but honestly, she didn't want to go to either. But after flying back and forth in the directions of both houses, she decided to just get it over with -- and so she picked the von der Dach house. That didn't mean that she'd like it, and as she appeared in the large building, she glanced around hesitantly. She wasn't sure any child would like to live in a house this dirty...
She didn't like the idea of going any further inside the house than she had to, so she left a large box addressed to Xochiquetzal in the kitchen. That way, someone was sure to find it, as she wasn't entirely sure that all of the rooms in the house were regularly visited. Inside the box was a wide array of little toys, all perfectly soft so the girl wouldn't hurt herself. There was even a plastic octopus with jointed tentacles! After giving one more glance around the kitchen, Daffodil disappeared, already well on her way to her next stop of the night.

Sometimes Alex wondered if this town was getting to him. It seemed that when he first moved to Nirvani, he resisted everything -- festivals, group gatherings, really, anything except for work, because he just didn't have the patience to deal with all of the eccentric people he reluctantly called his neighbors. And yet, as of late, he was actively participating with little more than a small sigh of dreading. Like the White Festival. Before, he had been pushed into it, and it had been... Well, it wasn't exactly anything he wanted to do again. Not that Talna wasn't nice, he just didn't have a knack for or an interest in housewife things. And, oh, how River laughed when she found out... And despite this, here he was again, off to meet the person who had won him in the White Day auction. It seemed like the island was winning, but Alex had begun to accept that the moment he started frequenting Freja's magic shop.
Speaking of which, he had been surprised to find that the person who had successfully bid on him wasn't a complete stranger, but someone he knew. Since he knew that the auction was done anonymously, he was a little impressed at the coincidence -- or was it luck? -- that a friend of his would be the winner. Then again, as skeptical as he was, Freja did have an uncanny talent of hitting the nail on the head when it came to Alex, so maybe it was more? ...But he would never admit it, he was too comfortable being a skeptic.
He contemplated the coincidence of the situation as he made his way up to the von der Bach house. He had never been there before, and honestly, it startled him at first. He imagined Freja as being the type to live in a tiny little cottage off somewhere, rather than a huge house like this... Most of all, he was surprised that the magic shop brought in enough revenue for her to afford a place like this...
Marveling at the large house looming in front of him, Alex made his way up the stairs. Any awkwardness or anxiety he had been feeling when he had been waiting to find out who he'd be meeting had long since disappeared when he discovered it was Freja, and he looked surprisingly relaxed as he strolled up to the door. He paused where he was, slipping one hand out of his pocket and knocking firmly on the door. He wondered if she'd be able to hear it, where ever she was.

Luckily for Alex, he, unlike Rory some years ago, had not used the doorbell and had instead chose to simply knock on the door the good old fashion way. What did that mean? Well, for one, it meant that no booby trap would open under his feet, letting him fall right into a cage inside of Lotte’s lair where he would be tortured for a whole week while the little girl tried to learn his secret….whatever secret it was, se didn’t care because someone falling in her lair was sure to have a secret! Anyhow, back on the main character of this story, that is, Freja. The woman had been busy listening to Arthur the rat’s stories of war when he was fighting against the weasels of England when she heard a light knock on the front door She got up from the floor where she was sitting (who needed chairs where you had floors?) and tiptoed to it. The front door never made sounds so… why was it doing it now? Could it be that… it was getting alive? Could door come alive? She glaced toward Arthur who simple sniffed the air…. Well, what else would you be expecting from a Rat?
She placed her right hand on the door, touching it ever so lightly. She didn’t want to scare it! Could doors run away? No, no, they could not. They were attached to the walls afterall and she knew for a fact that walls had hears, not legs, so she was safe. Still… that noise… What could it have been? Perhaps some ghost had taken procession of the door? If it had been Automn or Spring, she would have had Xochiquetzal with her and she could have used her daughter as a medium to chanel whatever spirit inside of her in order to speak with it, but unfortunately, she was without child in winter. There really was only one thing to do: Open the door and let the spirits fly in! And so she did! Her left hand grabbed the handle, turned it, and opened the door in one swift movement, ready to face the shockwave of spirites ready to enter! Oh! The energy! The Light! The Alex! The-wait, what?
She blinked twice as she noticed the tall and not Chinese at all man standing on her door steps. What was he doing there? ”You’re not a Spirit, Alex.”, she said, as a matter of fact. Unless they had taken his form? Possessed him? No, no, they had not. She couldn’t feel any magical aura coming from him, or well, no any other than the usual faint one he always had. He was 98% pure alex, with only a dash of sugar added to it! Or was it dandruff? Oh, she didn’t know nor care, istead, she kept staring at the man standing on the other side of her door, waiting for him to do something, anything. Surely, he hadn’t appeared there for no reason. Maybe with luck he would burst into flames; she had always wanted to see someone spontaneously combust.xxxxx♜ ♞ ♜ xxxxxxxx eye of newt and tongue of dogxxxxx ⇨ ⇨ ⇨ ⇨ ⇨ ⇨ ⇨ ⇨ ⇨ xxxxx GIVE ME YOUR FIRST BORN

Lily almost couldn't believe it. For some reason, this house seemed even scarier than it had in previous years! She had hoped that having a baby would motivate Freja to clean, but apparently not... It was all too much for the little fairy. She was running late, and the house was just too dark and scary for her. And so she sat on the roof and cried quietly to herself for a while. But then she realized that this was only making her later, and in a fit of panic, she wiped away her tears and darted straight into Freja's room, rushing too much to pay much attention to the rest of the house. She found a flat place and set down a vase containing a few stems of hyacinths, the same color as her hair. Tied to the vase in white ribbon was a light blue letter addressed to Freja. Relieved to have delivered her present without any real problems, Lily's eyes swelled with tears again and she darted out, crying all the way to the next house.
Ahh, Freja, I'm so sorry I'm late! I really was doing my best to be on time this year, but goodness, is your house scary... Oh, that was rude! I really am a terrible fairy, aren't I? I'm sorry! So sorry! ...Oh, yes, you. I think you're doing a good job. It's hard to tell. I mean, you seem to be happy, what with your shop and your baby... But maybe you should keep Xochiquetzal away from the octopus? I don't know, it just seems kind of dangerous... Oh, but you're the mother, you should know best! ...I just wonder sometimes. Anyway, maybe you should think about making some more... normal...? friends? Oh, but I know you're doing your best, so I suppose, if you're happy... Keep up the good work, I guess...

Alex jumped as the door suddenly swung open. He had been startled, not only by the sudden movement, but because Freja was standing right there. It was kind of silly, but he was half expecting someone else to answer it, either a servant or something or someone completely different who lived there -- meaning that he had gotten the wrong house. But no, Freja was there, an odd sight, seeing her standing in the doorway of such a massive house. Even more startling was the look on her face, like she honestly had no idea why he was there or what he was going to do. You'd think he'd have gotten used to that in all the years he had known her. "No, I'm not," he replied, blinking back down at her. Should he have been? He never knew what was good or bad with her. He fell silent once more, staring back at her, waiting for her to do something. They were both waiting for each other, and this proceeded for a moment or two before he realized that she didn't know why he was there. It seemed like something she'd do, forget about White Day. "You don't know why I'm here, do you?" he asked with a trace of an amused smile. "The White Day festival? The auction? You bid on me? And won?" He began to list things, hoping that one of them would remind her. "I'm here for a date. Or something. Doesn't have to be a date," he added quickly. He liked Freja, yes, but he was also a little afraid of what her idea of a date was.

In other words, she had the most blank expression on her face a person could have as her eyes looked right into Alex’s as the man spoke. In fact, she didn’t even blink once as her brain was processing what Alex was telling her. Something about a White Day… it was snowing. It was winter. Of course it was a white day… Like every other day of the season. Why hadn’t he come to her place earlier then if he had to be there on a white day? Or maybe it was just any white day; he could pick and choose? She really had no idea. Still, once he started to talk about the auction, a little light bulb shined in her head as she realized (sort of) what he was talking about. ”Oh!” She exclaimed, regaining some of her facial expressions. Better late than never. ”You’re the guy who needed to lay down, Alex?”, she asked him with a smiled. ”I didn’t know you didn’t have a bed! Poor you! I just saw it and I thought to myself: Freja! A Poor man has to sleep on the floor! You should go and give some money to help him sleep at night! Tell me, how is your new bed? Did you get to try it out yet?”
Why, of course Freja belived that “need a good lay” meant that the man needed to get himself a new bed. Why else would she have participate at the auction… did she even understand the concept of an auction…? Probably not. Still! She was happy that she had helped a friend in need! It was okay to sit on the floor, but it was another to sleep on it! Everyone should have a good hay bed to rest on it! Oh-wait! He had changed the subject! They weren’t talking about beds anymore, but about her giving him a date? ”A Date? Oh, of course it can be a date! It’s easy! Let’s see…. What about… Spring 24th? Is that a good date? Or maybe you prefer Fall 10th? Oh! Oh! I know! The 28th of Fall! It’s my birthday! As he stood there, looking down at the woman try to make sense of the situation, Alex's mouth twisted into an odd smile. He wouldn't have expected a person her age to be so innocent, but then again, she did spend her days in a magic shop, so he had been naive to expect her to have thought any differently. He was kind of relieved that she had misunderstood; he hadn't exactly approved of the discription they had given him, and it really could have turned out badly. Thankfully, he had ended up with Freja, who had honestly just bid out of kindness. And he appreciated that.
"It's great, thank you," he replied gently, feeling like he was back in high school, at one of six-year-old-River's tea parties. Well, tea party didn't do it justice, as she almost always got bored of tea half way through and would overturn the table while screaming "Earthquake! We're going to die!", which would then give him a chance to slip away while she pretended to be crushed by rubble. But he had always been forced to show up by his father, and in this case, he didn't mind being there.
Of course, he shouldn't have been surprised that Freja had misunderstood the date thing, too, and he didn't bother correcting her. He wasn't one for dates anyway. He had always felt like they were a waste of time. But perhaps he was just jaded, because the women he had dated who strongly believed in proper dates had been unpleasant in the long run, and he had somehow formed a connection. "Fall 28th? Happy belated birthday, then," he replied somewhat absentmindedly, glancing around at the inside of the house behind her. It seemed to suit her more than the outside of the house, oddly enough. As he returned his attention to her, he tried once more to get the situation across. "Anyway, because you helped me out, I'm here for a visit. You don't mind, do you?" His own patience startled him, but he blamed the island for that, too.

She was so happy that she had been able to help a friend in need! Of course, she had never thought, not even once, that she would have one day bought a bed for someone, but hey, there was a first time for everything and today was that day! ”Well Alex, I hope you’ll have that bed for a long time! Old beds are the best! I would have gotten you a second hand one, but it seems like I wasn’t allowed to choose. I hope it wasn’t anything too new? Mine is really old! It was here when me and my sister moved in! Sometimes it even moves on it’s own and tickle me in the night! Such a playful bed I have… but yes! I hope you and your bed will have a wonderful relation, Alex!”. She ponder for a second just how it was to sleep on a new bed. She didn’t think that she had ever slept on one, concidering how she had lived in motel room with her father when she was younger. All those beds were used. Maybe that was why she liked sleeping on old bed; it reminded her of her childhood… Not that there was anything special to be reminded off.
”Oh! Yes! Of course! You can come in. Just don’t mind Arthur. He can be a bit protective.”, she said, motioning toward the large rat that was standing in the middle of the kitchen, still glaring toward Alex. Ze French Rat do like ze strange man. She moved out of the doorway, letting the blue haired man in. Was it the first time anyone came inside her house? Now that she was thinking about it, no, there wasn’t. Well, Mao had come in a couple of times, but he didn’t count as a person. He was a nuisance, at best.

Probably under any other circumstances, Alex would have given in and explained to Freja that she hadn't really purchased him a bed, that he had his own and it was perfectly adequate, thank you very much, and that what she had paid for was a date. But she just looked so pleased, he really didn't have the heart to correct her, and frankly, he wasn't entirely sure he could. Besides, what was the harm? She's probably forget all about it soon enough. And so he just smiled oddly, this whole patient-and-understanding-thing obviously foreign to him. Well, there was a first time for everything, right? "Thanks," he replied briefly, stepping into the house as he continued to glance around. As Freja pointed out the rat, he stared at it. He had no issues with rodents, growing up his house had been filled with a variety of small animals, but was it his imagination, or was that rat giving him a look? "A pe---" he began to ask if Arthur was a pet, but stopped himself. He had forgotten that Freja's relationships with animals was different than most others, and he didn't want to offend her (and the last thing he wanted to do was apologize to a rat) by assuming anything. And so he changed the subject. "You live here with your sister? This place looks a little big for only two -- three -- people." He had paused mid-sentence to correct himself, remembering Freja's kid. He did that a lot, it seemed. It always startled him when he encountered Xochiquetzal, her existence never failed to escape his memory. And as he spoke, he found him staring at the rat again. It really kind of creepy, it almost like it was glaring at him, though rats didn't have eyebrows and he wasn't sure a rodent could be capable of disliking a person anyway. It made him uncomfortable.

Truth to be told, Freja had no idea what size a house should be. In all her life, she had only gone into two houses, not including her own! Both of those two houses being the Xiqui’s. Mao had a house that, she supposed, was a little bit smaller than this and Zhi, well, last time she had went there, she lived in something that wasn’t larger than a shed! Of course, compared to them, her own cabin looked pretty big, but, the house she had been supposed to move it was at least ten times larger than this one. So, all in all, it really was hard to tell what was a reasonable size, so, she simply shrugged to Alex, not really knowing what the appropriate answer to his questions was. ”Maybe it is… I really don’t know. And yes, I think I live here with Lotte… That’s what she claims, but I have yet to find her room.” They had been living on that island for how long now? 6 years? During that time she had looked to find out where Lotte was sleeping, but had failed every time. In the end, she had contented herself with knowing the girl was still alive the one or two time a season she would stumble upon her in the kitchen… Maybe Alex was right about that. If she couldn’t even find out where Lotte was sleeping, even if it was in a secret underground passage, not that Freja knew that, it was probably that the house was a tad too big for them. Oh well…
But then again, they were more than just three! Oh, silly her, forgetting all about that! ”But it’s not just me and Lotte! There’s Arthur here, and Queen Charlotte too! And my daughter ever two seasons!” And Boris. But she didn’t like Boris, so she didn’t count him. He was a grouchy fat toad, serve him right. All he was good was complaining all day long. She was still half hoping the Arthur would take his sword and skewer the old toad. Ah, a girl could always dream, no? ”Would you like to meet Charlotte Alex?”, she asked him with a bright smile. It wasn’t very often (never) that Charlotte had any visitor. She would be delighted to see some people! Oh yes, Freja was sure that the Queen would grant them an audience even on the last minute like that and Alex could probably use a friend or two more. It seemed like all the people he knew where either his own family and his coworkers. From that point of view, even Freja herself had more friends than him!

A normal person would, probably, be a tad concerned if he heard that his friend wasn't sure if she shared a home with her sister or not. That was usually something that people were able to keep track of. But Alex, in the strange 'nothing surprises me' mood he was in that day, felt nothing more than a small pang of envy. He would love to be like that with his sisters. To be fair, Elliot was so quiet, there were days when he wasn't entirely sure if she was home, but was impossible to go anywhere in that house without somehow feeling River's presence. He preferred the idea of being completely detached, only coming across each other every once in a while. It would, at least, make his current living situation more tolerable, and make it seem like he actually had some control over the house he paid for.
Either way, he decided not to question how odd Freja's statement was, and instead let her show him around. There wasn't any way she was going to understand the whole date thing any time soon, so it was the least he could do. He was under the impression that she didn't get very many visitors. And either way, she reminded him of when his siblings were young, maybe three or four, and would sit him down to show them all of their belongings. Perhaps that was why he had a startingly large amount of patience today. "Charlotte?" he repeated, raising an eyebrow. "Sure, why not?" he continued with a shrug, but then his eyes fell upon Arthur once more. "...Is Charlotte another rat?" he questioned. He didn't mind rats, but he still had an odd feeling that Arthur was glowering at him, and he wasn't sure if he could handle two rats looking at him like that. Just the thought alone made him take a step towards Freja, as if by being closer to her, he could ease their expressions. It was a silly thought, especially considering the height and age gap between the two.

Just look at him! Feeling all shy as he met all of her friends! A big boy like him really shouldn’t feel all stressed because he was meeting new people like Arthur and Charlotte! They were good people, after all. It had been years since either of them had killed someone. Really, there was nothing to worry about! She smiled at him and patted him on the shoulder (needed to raise herself on the point of her toes to do it comfortable) in order to comfort him and ease his worries. ”Don’t worry Alex! I’m sure they’ll likeyou!”. She wrapped her hand around his and started to drag him along. In the maze that was her house, one would need a guide or fear getting lost… like that cable guy from 5 years ago… She knew he was still alive, somewhere in the house, because she would sometime notice things being half eaten and some bodily waste, but she had yet to see him again and he had yet to find an exit. Oh well, it was his fault for insisting that he could find the living room by himself… ”Oh, don’t be silly, Alex! Of course Queen Charlotte isn’t a rat! There’s only one Arthur here! I’m not sure we could live with a second one!”, she explained to him as they entered one of the many hallways that was still without electricity and hadn’t been cleaned since her great grandfather was the leader of the island many, many years ago. ”However, she might be offended if you call her Charlotte… Be sure to address to her as Your Royal Highness. She can get angry when you don’t and might just bite you.”, not that it would mater if she bit Alex, Freja had enough antitoxin to save him from a slow and painful death, but the bite would still hurt and she didn’t want her friend to be angry at her from introducing him to someone who would have hurt him. The changed were small, but still, better be safe than sorry. Finnaly, they arrived in front of the one door that lead to Charlotte’s chamber, not that there was anything special about it. It was a simple wooden door like every other in the house, but she knew it was the right one! Mainly because that was where she spent all her days, usually…. Details. ”She’s right in there! Come!”, she told Alex as she knocked on the door to warn the Queen that she was entering. She waited five second before turning the handle and entering the room. It was like what one would imagine any attic to be, except that it wasn’t the top floor. The one window of the room was so thick of dusts that barely any light could come inside the room, and the few ray that could exposed the various chest, suitcase and boxes spread a bit everywhere in the room, as well as various objects like an old sewing machine and a mannequin (because every attic had one creepy mannequin. It was law.) Other than that, the room was very normal, if not for the overload of cobweb that covered almost every inchest. ”She’s right there!”, said Freja as she pointed toward the largest spider in the room. ”You’re majesty? A Friend of mine would like to meet you! Say hello, Alex!”
