Kaym'itan snorted again, " Than you are not looking hard enough," he teased her with a good nature, shaking his shaggy head as Toruk nudged him, " You are most welcome Huntress, a kill shared is far more enjoyable than one kept to yourself."

He bent his head back to his portion of the meal, stripping some more meat from the bone, " I am aware you are new to the People Huntress, but you carry our coloring, and know our ways. If I may ask, how is it that you do?"

Kaym'itan had been curious about the young Huntress for sometime now, but had not had the opportunity to sit and speak with her. His odd patrol time usually meant that he only interacted with the Pride at dusk and dawn, certainly not the most conducive times for idle conversation.

"You are quite welcome, Brother." Clermeilli-Pie gave Toruk a smile and did a quick double check of her fur. Okay, no blood showing. Why was she so worried about her looks? It was not likely that these males would even be interested in her, especially with her already having cubs to care for. They were so much like how her father acted. It was almost scary, but at the same time it made her more aware of her unsuitable status: no mate and two cubs.

"Or perhaps you are looking too hard?" Clermeilli-Pie's golden eyes twinkled as she watched Kaym. "Such a wise opinion from such a playful lion." She was enjoying the company even if she did find them both a bit too 'good' for herself in other respects. Kaym's question about her past took her a little off guard. There were a few that knew some of her past, but not many, and few asked anyway. Most seemed happy enough to just ignore that she even came from outside and treat her as if she had always been one of them.

"My parents taught me the ways I know. Out there, the ways are odd and make a lion seem strange or even silly compared to others, but I learned them well as a cub before realizing just how different it made us." She gave an idle thought of her brother and wondered how he and her parents were. She did not dwell on worry over them, though. It would do no good to her or them to distract herself with such thoughts. "Both my parents hold coloring and markings much like my own. My brother was much the same as I recall... I believe they had come from here, but I think they may believe the People gone."

Her light teasing of his friend made him smile into his meal, gold eyes amused. It had been a long time since any female had spoken to either of them in such a manner, it made him feel younger just listening to her and brought warmer memories of a time long past when both he and Kaym had been young and excited for the world, powerful in their belief and pure in their aspirations. But such ages were long past, the war had taken its toll on all of them and Toruk often wondered what their life would have been like if it hadn't happened. But it had and the past was the past, they had to look to the future now, but the pain of experience would forever cast its shadow over them.

Chewing his mouthful Toruk pulled his thoughts back to the conversation and politely kept his head bent to their meal, dark ears flicked forwards slightly as interested as his brother was as to her reply, though gold eyes stayed low, focused on the meat under his paw as he waited, not willing to scare her out of talking by watching her. He knew how intimidating such things could be and usually tried to avoid doing it himself. He could not help but wonder though, as she spoke about her parents. Had they been a couple he had known before the war? They had lost many members, both killed or vanished in the blood shed and violence of those days. He always hoped that those who had gone undiscovered were not dead, but had escaped, and maybe, found a better life for themselves beyond the pride's forest. It sounded like this female's parents had indeed survived the battle and made it out, becoming wanderers without a home. Smiling softly he swallowed his forgotten mouthful and lifted his head, licking his muzzle clean before cutting in gently, voice low and wistful.

"Many of us fled during the war, I do not doubt there are those like your parents who left us and believe the People gone. Our ways are unique, our belief singular. It must have been hard, trying to be of the People while living without the support of the clan." Gold eyes regarded her gently as the lion known as Toruk Makto, known champion and secret guardian of the People, remembered a time from before, when they had been a strong and proud pride.

Kaym'itan listened to the lioness speak, his crimson eyes not moving from her. Unlike his friend, the Scout was very direct, sometimes to the point of being brutal, but it was what made them such a good team. Tsu was compassion and mercy, Kaym was necessity and judgment, together they had kept the People safe during those long, dangerous and dark days, and still kept them so.

Though Eytucan, their chief and leader, had told them the war was ended, the People healing, Kaym'itan could not let his guard down, must not let his guard down, for all that he wished to. To lay the burden down and rest, regain some of what he lost,Eywa bless what would he give to be able to do so?

But how could he? How could he when there were his People, like the young huntress sharing his meal here beside him and his brother in all but blood, still lost and wandering, still striving to serve and See Eywa no matter that they believed all they knew was nothing but ashes and stones in their hearts. No Kaym'itan could not rest, would not, and so he listened to the lioness story, his blood colored eyes regarding her with a unshakable intensity of purpose.

When she finished and his brother had spoken his words of comfort to her, Kaym'itan finally lowered his eyes to the last of his meal, his deep voice low, the tone filled with a truth of heart Tsamsiyu had not heard in it since the end of the war " I will ask to Eywa Clermeilli, that all of your family finds peace within her, no matter where they are, and that if they are capable, their path leads them back here, to you and the People."

Clermeilli-Pie wondered what these two lions would think of her if they knew just how silly she had thought the ways of the People before coming here. How silly she really found the concept of a goddess at all. Her practical nature just couldn't see a reason to truly believe in the protection a goddess could give to anyone anymore.

She bowed her head for a moment, both in acknowledgment of the comments from both males and a touch of embarrassment on her personal lack of belief. The lioness could not bring herself to place faith in Ewya because it was impractical, yet she felt something close to shame at this when faced with the strong belief of the others.

"My parents wonder much, perhaps one day they will come back here." Clermeilli-Pie had to wonder if they avoided this place for a reason such as the bad memories of the war she kept hearing about. It would make sense. "My father was a strong lion... I think he might have been a fighter for he has so many scars... mother was always going on about Ewya and praying... She rather reminds me of the priestesses here. My brother was just as mischievous as either of you." She gives a smug look to the two males at that comment.

Tsamsiyu could not help but wonder as she spoke. Had he known them? Certainly he had been a youngster then, freshly accepted into the warrior rank, full of eagerness and righteous belief. Puffing out a soft breath for times long gone, the mature male glanced at his brother before settling his gaze on Clermeilli. "If that is indeed so, then your parents are a well matched pair, and clearly they settled to rogue life for they brought up such a fine young female as you, sister." Smiling faintly he shifted back and rose to his paws, giving a brief shake of his mane.

"I am certain they are still within Ewya's light, where ever they are." Pausing he seemed to listen for a moment, then bowed to her before glancing at his brother. "I must go now, or I will be late." Something silent passed between the two males, based on a lifetime of experience and understanding. With a last smile to the female, Toruk turned and vanished into the forest, resuming his silent and unknown work.

Kaym'itan narrowed his eyes at his brother, knowing full well what that look meant. Toruk needed to speak to him before he could find his bed for the day. More then likely it had to do with any number of rogues or border issues, or even something as simple as their border lines.

The night scout took on last bite out of his meal, then stood and inclined his head to the Huntress. " Thank you for the company Sister, but I must find my bed. Hìtxoa"

He moved out of the eating area, and toward were Toruk had disappeared wondering if they would also met with the head warrior this morn. Yes it looked like it might be some time before he found his bed.
