BogiePop Spike's a token human there when needed hes not in every seen or even every episode, he was the main focus of the show, not like sam and his titted friend that has to in ever shot so bay can show robots doing something in the background. Where is he in this shot? http://host.trivialbeing.org/galleries/transformers-20090216-trailer-2-screenshots/transformers-trailer-2-screenshots-_0028_Layer 42.jpg Or this one? http://media.teamxbox.com/games/ss/1408/1175899870.jpg Ooh lets play a game, spot the Shia! http://pnmedia.gamespy.com/planettransformers.gamespy.com/fms/images/potd/12/1186858223_medium.jpg Ooh the barrelroll. Where are the titted friends? http://moviesmedia.ign.com/movies/image/article/800/800501/transformers-20070629013110705.jpg So you're complaining that you just want the humans to be underfoot and in the way all the time? Constantly bringing around Decepticon forces. Unlike the cartoon series you all grew up with, I grew up reading the comic books where most of the time they were about humans while the Autobots were on Earth. In fact, humans were half the plot, Blackrock, Circuit Breaker, Fortress Maximus, the Headmasters the Pretenders. All robots brought about by their interaction with the human race. I mean, if they were on Cybertron, or even another planet perhaps Shia wouldn't be needed, but they are on Earth and it's not like they're subtle this is after all our planet and whereas there are only a handful of Autobots, there are billions of us. So why not have us play a role in kicking Decepticon can? Are you just going to sit back and say "Yeah OP, don't worry about me, I'll just sit here on my couch playing video games, go out and save my world."

I grew up with both the cartoons and comics. Although the comics were more violent than the cartoons, it was never so bad that a younger audience couldn't enjoy it.
The Bay movies try to hard to appeal to people would likely wouldn't be interested in Transformers in the first place. There is absolutely no reason for the sceence of the dogs humping let alone Wheelie humping Megan Fox's leg.
However this guild is for all fans so if you enjoy the Bay movies that's completely fine, I don't want to see this thread degrade into a flame war though.

True. I'm just trying to point out that there are equally inane things in G1, and to say that the Bay movies are somehow worse than G1 just because of that is silly.

Who better to make a movie about cars, military vehicles, and heavy machinery that turn into giant robots to blow stuff up and beat the crap out of each other?

The orignal cartoon had it's flaws, but I have to agree with BP that the Bay Movies don't do them justice. The cartoons I can watch over and over again, the movies especially the second one.... I don't even own the second one.

What, then is the quality that makes the cartoons watchable over the Bay movies? I'm honestly trying to figure it out here.
It can't be that G1 is less ridiculous than Bay's stuff, because they're about even. It can't be the amount of human involvement, because there's a ton of human involvement in G1 as well. (I'm looking straight at YOU, Girl Who Loved Powerglide. scream )
It could be nostalgia, but I was born in '80, G1 was aimed straight at me, I love it as much as you guys.
So what is it?

maybe we just have diffident tastes in movies, i like substance over style. gen 1 isint perfect, but theres more substance there then anything bay has done.
also the humor, gen 1 was cheesy as bays is just childish, balls and piss gags really? who are the moves for kids? right with fox running ready at any moment ready to make it into a porn...
and we got really sided tracked, the trailer, god damn it bay, you knew you were going to make a trilogy, why the hell didint you put some thought in to the time line. movie one megs and the all spark on earth long as time, movie two the fallen and other cons longer a** time, now more bots 50 some years, and these 3 thing all around the earth but not once coming togather till sam and fox's tits come into play, and you ask me why i hate the bay movies there stupid. also bays remake of nightmare on elms street boring had none of the carm as the old ones, he took away what made fraddy awesome, his humor, and made him into another bad movie monster...

Okay because you insisted I just re-watched "Girl Who Loved Powerglide". It's hilarious, the big difference for me is the kind of humoe in it versus the movies. I'm sorry, but Transformers isn't supposed to be about robots acting like dogs, they're supposed to act like humans.
I see the original as capble of holding a wider audiance where Bay offends many of the older fans. Again I think he's trying to hard to appeal to people who won't watch Transformers anyway.
It's my party and I'll cry if I want to.

Its more then they act "human", more or less that they are so human, being robots. what makes transformers so enjoyably is that there so diverse in form and personality, and how the interact with one another and with humans on earth as its a alien world for them.
the bayformers you just dont get that feeling, there just robots with little to no personality, and even less personal interactions with one another, unless there going to kill them selves.

An accent and a behavioral tic does not a personality make. But I think there is one thing we can all agree on, and that is that the money coming in from the movies has allowed Hasbro/Tomy to give us some of the best toys ever, and left tons of shelf room for non-movie characters to be dug up, dusted off, and made freaking awesome. Whether or not you dig Bay's stuff, it's good mojo for Transformers itself. I'm definitely looking forward to more toy shelves filled with unique alt modes like Ransack's WW1 biplane, Hubcap's ZZ-Top-ish roadster, Highbrow's WW2 fighter. And toasters. xd
