Zinkenite didn't have to wait very long, which was possibly a point in Uranophane's favor: she was definitely not one to dilly-dally when she could help it. Five or ten minutes later she was back out of the store, clad in deep red and glittery white, wearing what was possibly the most unconvincing-looking Mrs. Claus outfit he had ever seen.

Even though in theory it was well put-together... in practice, it made Uranophane look like an unsuccessful drag queen.

"Don't. Say. Anything," the Captain warned, even as the bells on her shoe-covers tingled merrily with every step she took.

Zinkenite did a marginally better job keeping a strait face. He however utterly failed any test that would have kept him from being sarcastic. He golf-clapped just for her, am amused spark in his eyes but utterly missing from the rest of his face. Had he been truly talented even the spark might have been gone, but one thing Zink was going to need for the crystal if he wanted to impersonate people was a little practice in acting.

Uranophane just scowled through Zinkenite's entire session of applause, glaring at his hands with an intensity that suggested she was trying to melt them with her stare. There was a small, less prideful part of her that quietly suggested that maybe she deserved this, but she chased that notion away as soon as it had arrived so she could continue to properly be pissed off. "Well, I guess all that's left is to find some crowds of people... at this point terrorizing them is probably unavoidable," she said, slantly referencing her own appearance, "but we might as well get the job done anyway."

"Well at least looking like this we can pass it off as a whole separate reason for terror...perhaps fainting, you just never know how people with weak constitution will react." He chuckled softly.
"Though given how we look, the crowd may in fact find US!"

"Yeah, there's a thought," she mused as they started down the street in search of a crowd. "just head down to the Town Square and see what kind of attention our lovely assets draw." With a glance towards Zinkenite's magically-granted, ample curves, it was pretty clear that by 'our' she met 'Zink's,' as Uranophane herself was about as devoid of curves as a telephone pole. It took another few decidedly awkward minutes of walking before they found anything good, but with the plaza all decked out for Christmas they blended right in... mostly.

"Assets....right. I'll be sure to hid behind you if anyone -reaches- for said assets." He said with no sarcasm at all. He really wasn't sure what he'd do if someone tried to reach for his 'extra chest adornments'.
He glanced around with a furrowed brow at the ... chaos. It worked to their advantage all things considered but it didn't mean he liked it even a fraction better.
"So... " he said glancing around. "Let's give this a try?"

Finally... a nice distraction from their respective humiliating situations. Uranophane gave her partner a rather official-looking nod that wasn't nearly as effective as it was when she wasn't all gussied up, and they took a moment to scan the crowd. "I wonder if it wouldn't be easier to start with the contact method... then again, I've always liked a challenge, haven't you? Well, then..." she said, and gestured at Zink, "...ladies first."

"I do like a challenge..." He said, "And I'd never deny a drag-queen.
He took a deep breath and concentrated on his intent, attempting to draw the energy out of a few of the people near by. He did however have to push aside a sudden thought, that if he could somehow make a convincing transformation into the senshi's errant queen... oh the havoc he could cause.
But right now he had to focus on 'the new basics' if he didn't do his job well, there was little point to his ambitions.

It definitely took a great deal of concentration to even get started: that was one thing about pulling star seeds, it was just plain easy, shove a hand in and back out and you're good to go. And up until a little while ago they didn't even know they were supposed to have the ability to channel energy in such a fashion. Uranophane spent a good several moments focusing and staring at her empty outstretched had, trying to figure out when she was supposed to start seeing energy coalesce into it.

Beryl had made this look so easy.

Then, suddenly, her hand gave a little, involuntary spasm and something quietly clicked in her head. It felt a bit like she was gripping a small handful of marionette strings, loosely attached to some of the people in the crowd, and if she pulled on them just right --

"Hah, there we go. Any luck on your end, Captain?"

He made a tsk, he'd almost had it, like his fingers brushing over the strings of his violin when her question startled him just enough to break his 'hold'.
"Almost..." He confirmed, and tried again, "Ah..." he said sounding satisfied. "...well... that's a satisfying feeling I must say." He said with a smile like a snake who just coiled around its dinner.

"Once you get a hang of it, anyway," she replied, watching as a little orb slowly but surely started to flicker in existence over her hand, formed by little threads of energy. From the corner of her eye she could make out the several figures she was pulling from slowing in their gait a bit, becoming fatigued. "I admit, it's all sort of anticlimactic."

"Could be worse, I rather like the 'no muss' approach, shame it takes such concentration..." He mused watching his own targets slowing and looking weary and run down. He wondered, if he released them now would they go for coffee? Energy drinks?
"SUCH a shame about this season, people just don't take care of their health..." He tutted sarcastically.
"Rush rush rush and no thought to the consequences of sleepless nights and long hours."

"I'm pretty sure there's an ancient Chinese proverb or something about this sort of thing," Uranophane mused, in a slow, lax tone. It still took a lot of concentration to pull this off, but once you started getting a hang of it it was a lot more like being in a trance than anything else, and something about it was equal parts relaxing and invigorating, in an odd way. "'I hope your life is very interesting.' Apparently if you said it back then, it was meant as an insult, since an interesting life is nothing but trouble."

Two of her targets had sauntered over to sit in a bench in front of a nearby fountain, in spite of it being dusted with snow.

"And this is definitely anything but interesting."
