The manx trotted over to the edge of the building, glancing down to where the youma had landed. As with nearly any youma, when it passed, it turned into dust, which was now stuck in the snow. At least it wasn't getting stuck in her nose like usual.
Glancing to her side, she now started getting the questions. The usual questions. With a feline smile and eyes upon the girl's eyes, she merely answered the first question with a simple "I am a cat, what else did you think I was?" She giggled a light airy giggle before glancing over the edge of the building to look at the red gunk that had been paving the youma's road. It was starting to peel like old paint.
Once more, she turned to face the girl, this time giving her full attention. It was easy to tell with how the cat was looking Adhafera straight in the eyes. "I awakened the powers that were sleeping inside of you. If I hadn't, another probably would have, Adhafera." With a nod of the head (and a jingle of her collar), the cat then began to trot back towards the center of the rooftop. "Now that this has all been sorted out... I suppose you now have time to take this with you." The phone that had been a part of the awakening-package was still sitting on the snow covered rooftop.
"It's so cold tonight! Icky!" she said casually as her paws attempted to kick up the powder so she could make her way to Adhafera's property. Eventually she managed to find it, and stopped right next to it. "Here! Come here!!"

"Powers... inside me?" Sailor Adhafera took another look at herself. The previously pristine fuku was now stained with red gunk. She'd never worn anything like this in her life. But the outfit reminded her of something...
"You're with those... those senshi," she accused the cat, following her over the rooftop, ignoring the comments on the weather. "Those crazy people who keep making trouble! What the hell was that monster?"
Between one step and the next, the henshin broke - Maris suddenly found herself wearing her normal clothes again. The pen slipped free from her grasp and fell to the floor. She folded her arms and glared at the cat.
"I'm not taking anything until you explain. Why can you talk? What was that thing? Why me?" And what am I supposed to do now? she thought, but did not say.

The feline chuckled the moment the senshi returned to her usual form. "Well, that is one less lesson I need to teach!" Many new senshi couldn't figure out how to return back to being their usual selves until the manx explained it.
If the rooftop wasn't so cold, she probably would have plopped her rump down. Instead, she remained standing. "Now, I do have to ask... based off the fact you had to deal with that monster, do you think that the senshi are making the trouble?" She tilted her head to one side, then added "The monster is technically called a Youma though. They come from the Negaverse."
The cat lifted a paw and shook it a bit before setting it down again. Her paws did not like this cold weather. "Perhaps the reason I can talk is because I have things to say." The feline offered another giggle and a friendly wink, despite how cold she was. "That thing... I covered it for the most part, but essentially, they are bad. They are known to steal starseeds... and people kinda need those. People die without those..."
There was another pause as the cat nudged the cell phone on the ground with her nose. "Well, it isn't my choice in all honesty. I know this is going to sound cheesy, but it was destiny."
Lifting a paw up again and shaking it, she glanced to the girl. "By the way... could you be so kind and pick me up? My name is ********* by the way..." She laughed once more. With all of the action before, it was definitely hard to get an introduction in.

"I watch the news," Maris shot back. "Vigilantes who run around fighting some 'shadow war', right? And doing a lot of damage to civilians in the process! So, what, these monsters just pop up out of nowhere and... magical people fight them? Is that what this is all about?"
Her hands - and voice - were trembling as she bent down to scoop ********* up. Destiny? She had a destiny? A tiny part of her was thrilling to the cat's words... but most of her was cold, and aching, and confused, and therefore angry. "What do I do now?" she muttered. "If I'm one of... one of you... there has to be a leader, right? Some kind of goal?"

"Watching the news does not mean you understand the situation." The cat snuggled up against the girl, as if attempting to comfort her. "I already mentioned the Youma are created by the Negaverse. That isn't from nowhere, last I checked. They are designed to prey on whatever they can get their grubby little digits on." She sighed a bit, then looked away over the city they were standing above.
"For every error that is put out on the press, there are at least 10 other senshi that did their job right. Protected civilians, kept people safe from harm, ensured that someone kept their lives." Everyone made mistakes. She remembered Sailor Iris confessing to accidentally hurting one of her best friends while saving his life. He had a scar now from her efforts and a slightly lower opinion of senshi. Sailor Iris had also killed a Negaverse Lieutenant, and even if the yellow suited senshi had never confessed to it, she could tell that the Senshi of Rainbows regretted it.
********* returned her sights to the girl, getting more of a view of her chin than of her face, but that was what happened when you were a cat in a girl's arms. "I would suggest you assist in defending the city. Protect others from youma when you can. Be wary of the Negaverse and their agents. I would also suggest teaming up with other senshi when you can."
The mention of the leader had not gone unnoticed, and in all honesty, it had actually caught the manx a bit by surprise. Not too many new senshi asked about such things right off the bat. "There once was a leader... but she is no longer with us." Respectfully, the feline's head bowed forward silently.

Maris listened quietly as the cat - ********* - talked, hugging her to her chest almost unconsciously. The anger at being thrust into all of this unbidden was still there, but she wasn't so foolish as to value her anger over potentially useful information. And, strange as a talking cat was... well, it was all strange. Beyond strange. ********* was the closest thing to a guide she had in this strange new world.
"No longer with us? Did they die? Are... we..." The pronoun was strange, didn't seem to fit. "Losing?"

The cat wasn't exactly the quiet sort. She had made such rather well known in the short amount of time she knew the girl. ********* had been friendly, and rather pleasant overall, despite the strange battle that had occurred. The mention of death was greeted with silence.
Rather than point out what was probably obvious at this point, the feline solemnly gave a response to the other question. "We are at a stalemate." With a subtle sigh, the feline seemed to return to her usual cheery self.
"Anyways, are you going to pick up your phone or is it going to sit in the snow for the rest of the evening?"

"I... I see." Maris shifted to sit down on the rooftop, keeping the cat close to her, sharing warmth. She felt dizzy, both from exertion and the triple-whammy of the unexpected. "Oh... a phone..." Her own phone was in her pocket, but there was definitely another phone in the snow.
She leaned over and scooped the thing out of the snow it had landed in, dusting it off with one gloved hand and fumbling it open, staring at the screen as if she expected it to spew forth knowledge as well. "So now... now I fight these things. Youma. And... the Negaverse?" The words felt strange in her mouth. "Just stop them? That's all I need to do for now?"
God, she was tired.

The cat just nuzzled her face against the girl's body. "Well, it's all I can ask you for now." There was a rather drastic pause before the feline mentioned "It's quite cold. You should probably head home... oh... I don't think I got your name yet. Mine's *********!" She lifted a single paw as if to shake, but the girl was too busy holding the roundish cat.

"Maris Trent," she said, automatically. The cat was right, it was cold... slowly, the girl got to her feet, still holding ********* close. "Where do I... put you? Take you?"
Maris could hear the distant sound of sirens now, likely converging on the building. She should have known that the monster climbing the building wouldn't go entirely unnoticed.

In a cheery tone, the feline offered "It's a pleasure to meet you, Maris!" With a kitty smile curling upon her maw, she nodded her head with a slight jingle towards the roof they were standing on.
"You can set me down here for now. I'll be fine." Even though ********* was a cat, she'd still need to eventually find a way down the building. How was the question that would baffle most. Yet, the feline seemed confident enough that she would somehow manage to do this task without any sort of problem at all.

Maris silently crouched down and let ********* go, though her hands lingered over the cat's sides as if she was loathe to let her only real source of knowledge go. "Where can I find you again? If I need to?"

The cat padded forward, but then quickly looped back and rubbed up against the hands again that lingered. "That..." she said with a dramatic enough pause so she could turn to face Maris, "... is a very good question."
For a moment, the cat's eyes rolled upward thoughtfully. Soon enough they bounced back to looking straight to Maris' own eyes. "I am actually a stray. I wander the city because there is so much to do and so little time. I'd suggest calling Sailor Iris, but seeing as you haven't met her, you wouldn't have her in your phone... How about we set up a meeting day? That way, I can drag Sailor Iris along and then you can scan her and then have a pretty direct line to me?"
A slight pause. "I'd say probably a bit after the holiday seasons, because I am certain they are crazy to schedule around."

"I..." Maris hesitated. Setting a date made all of this seem more real. Which it couldn't possibly be, right? Half of her was still certain she was dreaming, or hallucinating, despite the cold wind that bit at her exposed face. "Okay. January. January... seventh? It's a Friday. At the cafeteria at Sovereign Heights. How about that?"

"Hmmm..." It sounded as if the cat was trying to weigh the possibility of the whole ordeal in her head.
"If you say outside of the cafeteria, then I think we are golden!"
