Katarinia ||Isabelle || Corbane----
I don't know if you can hear me where ever you are, but just know I need you now more then ever d a d d y. ღ_____ I'm starting to wonder what my true {p u r p o s e} is;; I shouldn't have been the one that lived. I'm not worthy. His snort towards her was barely registered as she was heavily focused on trying to convince him. He spoke, dragging out a simple word that people often tended to drag out when truly contemplating on whether or not they should oblige. Her eyes widened just a bit at this, as she put in all her effort into trying to convince him to go with her. She took in a gentle breath, not really understanding why she wanted him to go so badly. Perhaps it was because she was really hoping he would open up a bit to her, and not be so...Closed off. But again, she had to consider all that she was dragging him into. His sigh broke her loose from her thoughts, and she knew in that second that she had managed to convince him. The sighs gave it away every single time! His words didn't cause her to falter, and when he finally agreed her hands shot up and she gave a little victory dance, which mostly included of her letting out a squeak, shaking her hands a little bit, and then heading up the stairs to put her shoes on. She stopped half way out of the hall and turned to face him, realizing she'd made a fool of herself. With a red face she smiled, and composed herself. "Oh! Yeah, so you can get changed or whatever if you want. It's just a little windy outside, so make sure you wear something that will keep you warm! I'll meet you at the stairs when you're ready!" she chimed in, happy as a clam before rushing out the room and up to the room she was staying in.
She wouldn't determine how she knew what the temperature was without even seeing outside, as that would result in her having to explain that she could talk to the trees and such, which would reveal that she wasn't human. And for some reason, when she thought about telling him that she wasn't human, she just got a horrid, horrid feeling that something really bad would result from that. And knowing how she was often right with these feelings, she decided to follow her gut and continue to play the human role. Luckily none of her injuries were questionable as they wouldn't kill a human. Sure some of them were iffy to why she was able to walk and posture herself so easily. But that could easily be shrugged off as physical toughness or something like that. Or so she hoped. She hoped that Vince wasn't as observant as she was, and that he didn't notice a lot of the little thing that hinted at her not being who--or what she said she was. Frustrated with her thought process, she shook her head as she went up the stairs, and got to her room. She opened the room and then headed over to the bed where her shoes were. She wished she could wear her combat boots. But she knew that the boots would look foolish, and they might give her away. They were old boots, probably not much older then she was. They were dear to her, and she only wore them when traveling about or going on a hunt.
She sighed softly as she sat down on the bed, plucking some socks out of the bag before slipping them on. The Adio shoes that she decided to wear were really uncomfortable to her. They didn't offer much support, and they were loose. They were really hard for her to adjust to, seeing as how she was very used to tight leather that went past her ankles, supporting her with buckles, straps, zippers, and laces. But now all she had was a bit of crappy material that loosely hung to her feet, known as fashionable shoes in the modern world. She sighed as she pulled both socks on and then slipped her small feet into the shoes that made her feet feel absolutely massive. She looked over to Jack who was still loyally perched upon her shoulder. "You know you can't be causing so much trouble Jack. If you had been hurt, I might not have been able to heal you because of Vince being around. And then you had to go off with your antics and show Vince my wound. That wasn't very nice! You know that I get cuts from my empathy and pointing out these cuts to a guy who has no idea about it isn't very smart. I know you're just trying to help Jack, and I love you to death. But we have to keep things under wraps and you know that. So stay in here until I get back and I promise to pick some berries for you when I'm outside." she said smiling sweetly. The monkey seemed to nod solemnly, before hopping off of her shoulder and retreating to one of the bed posts.
As she situated herself, and took in a gentle breath, she felt that familiar tightening around her waist. Looking down she seen her companion snake again, as he curled around her waist like a belt, he rose his head to look at her. "Mm. Going on your weekly walk now are we Kat? Perhapssss with that young man too, I ssssupposeee?" the golden snake inquired. Kat looked to Luce with a slight frown. "Why yes I did invite him. I couldn't just tell him I was going on a walk without inviting him as that would be horridly rude. He even bandaged my hand for me. It would be mean for me to abandon him like that. Plus, I bet he'll really like the view and--" she was but off by the snake who let out a hiss. "Kat, you're being sssslightly foolisssh. I know you're excccited to meet sssomeone new, but darling you mussst remember that you will be leaving very ssssooon. And you and I both know that in that insssstancccee you won't be sssseeing him ever again. You are a very loving perssson Kat, with a huge heart. Don't let yourssself get attatched to someone you'll be leaving sssooon. Every time you make a new friend, you have to leave them. And you and I both know how much of a sssstruggle you have in doing sssooo, not to mention you already have trouble sssupresssing your depresssssion. You don't need more contributing to that. Keep that in mind, my dearesssst friend.." the snake hissed, it's voice wise as it looked deeply into her eyes.
Kat remained silent through out this lispy lecture, and she made sure to listen carefully. Luce had never guided her in the wrong direction before, and she took every word that he spoke very seriously to heart. She understood where he was coming from and knew that he didn't want to see her hurt and broken over leaving someone she had grown attatched to again. She knew he was paying attention to the future, and she knew that he was only trying to protect her. But something deep within her bubbled up, something that told her this time he was wrong. Her soft eyes stared back into the black beady eyes of her companion. She ran a finger over the snake's golden scales, stopping just beneath it's mouth where she rubbed affectionately, knowing he liked being rubbed there, like a kitty. "Oh Luce." she said softly, her voice gentle and kind. "I know you are just trying to protect me, but you and I both also know how lonely I am and how much I deeply long for a friend. I won't get attatched to him, and I'm only staying until I'm able to leave. I can't leave in this condition. Now that I'm up I should heal much faster. Let me enjoy that short time, with someone I get along with. We are after all, just going on a walk. What could that do? It is just a simple little walk. Trust me." she said smiling softly, as she lowered her hand, allowing the snake to slither off of her and onto the bed. And with that, she left the room, leaving the monkey and snake, alone.
Luce shut his black eyes, and shook his head slightly as he curled down the bed post and onto the floor. "Ah, the naivety of her. Sssssometimes I have to wonder how much her heart of gold can take. I have a bad feeling about thisss guy. Perhapsss I will take advantage of their outing and do a little invessstigating. I have a feeling Kat'ssss going to end up with her heart ssshattered.." the snake hissed, before disappearing within the darkness beneath the bed. Meanwhile, Kat was already downstairs, having easily brushed off Luce's warning words, with thoughts of actually going on a walk with someone. It had been a really long time, and she was really excited. It wasn't much longer until they re-met at the stairs as she had asked, and then they were off. Kat really didn't understand the extent of her excitement to get outside, until they were standing outside the door. She probably looked rather odd, being as bandaged and bruised up as she was, but she really didn't care. As soon as the sun hit her skin, she seemed to brighten up. Her radiance seemed to just bust out, and she smiled happily, lifting up her hands as she walked in the sunlight, as if to absorb it's energy or bask in it's beauty. Letting out a pleased squeak, she twirled once, just absolutely overjoyed to be back outside.
The smell of fresh air, the feeling of the light breeze. It was all so absolutely amazing. She smiled brightly, and then a few moments later she snapped out of her little glorified moment, and returned to Vince's side, making sure to walk with him, rather then ahead of him. She wanted him to feel like he was apart of the walk too! Having him feel left out would completely defeat the entire purpose of having him go with her. The first bit of the walk was a little awkward, but she soon defeated this awkwardness with a bit of humming, smiling happily, as it was clear she thoroughly enjoyed being outside. With a little bounce in her step she walked, and the way she walked made one wonder how she was able to walk so freely, without being slightly restricted by all her wounds. The pain that she should have been horridly suffering from, was barely sensible. Physical wounds rarely caused her too much pain, which was usually why she ended up with so many at once. She could handle more then the human, and so she barely felt the wounds that would normally bring any normal human to tears with all her movements. But as they got into the town, her eyes fell upon the street. The street that now had dried up puddles of blood upon them. As they walked past, she didn't notice the person walking on the same sidewalk towards them, and only when she bumped shoulders with this person did she look up to see this person just staring at her. The bump caused her to stop as she was suddenly thrown back into a flashback.
'She had been simply walking through the streets, as she often did at night to avoid much confrontation and attention being drawn to her. It had been in those moments, on that dark street where a large demon emerged from the shadows. It was gangly looking, lanky, and hungry. It had the most piercing eyes she had seen in a very long time. It spoke, it's spine like teeth showing as it smiled while speaking. "Katarinia Anastasia Corbane. The famed empath with a pure soul and a heart of gold. It seems as if we've finally met, lovely..." it hissed, it's voice thick and horridly eerie. It sent chills up her spine. Her deep golden eyes had been completely fixated on this demon, that she didn't notice the other five emerging from the shadows. And in those few short moments of ignorance, she had been ambushed. And before she knew it she was being shifted from demon to demon, being torn up and battered around like a little rag doll. Things were going by so fast she barely had time to fight back. A scream had echoed out on the street that night and it wasn't from Kat. Her eyes caught sight of a bag lady, standing on the edge of the street, horrified at what she was seeing. When one of the demons went to attack, Kat grabbed hold of it, and she killed it there, on the spot, saving the lady's life, but in doing so it seemed as if she would lose her own...'
A gentle gasp emerged from her lips as she came out of the flashback, quickly whipping around to look at who had bumped into her. And sure enough it was the bag lady from the few nights before. The lady was staring at her, in shock and pure astonishment that Kat was alive. Her hand instinctively reached up and she grabbed hold of Vince's arm, as she had bumped into him after being bumped into. "Sorry about that." she said softly, patting his arm as if her bumping into it ever so slightly might have harmed him. And about two seconds after she was no longer dazed, she suddenly felt that being in town was too...Open for memories. She had to get to the spot, and quick or she'd zone out again! She looked over at Vince, and smiled. "Let's hurry! I bet the sun is just perfect now! Oh it'll be beautiful just you wait and see! You're gonna thank me for this!" she said happily, acting as if nothing had happened. And in those moments of excitement, she took hold of his hand, grasping it just tight enough, before she dashed off, dragging Vince along with her. She had a feeling he'd keep his balance, and so she ran, pulling him along with her by the hand to the spot she so excitedly wanted to show him. With a smile on her face, she ran as fast as her body would permit her. And that was pretty fast considering her injuries.
As they got out of the town, and into the huge forest that surrounded the town, she used her affiliation with nature to make the spot she was heading to ten times more beautiful then normal, without Vince knowing. And after a bit of running, she finally stopped, breathing deeply as she looked at the place. They were standing on flat ground, with a beautiful stream right in front of them. To their left was a small, yet absolutely magical waterfall. Surrounding the very beginning of the banks of the stream, where the waterfall misted, were a bunch of flourishing, lush berry bushes. Beautiful trees surrounded the place, and just across the stream there was a huge weeping willow, right by the stream. Flowers grew beneath the willow, and everything around it just seemed to flourish and everything was so full of life. It was absolutely beautiful. Kat had become so entranced in it that she'd forgotten about her hand gripping onto Vince's. She looked at him for a moment and gave a shy smile, releasing his hand before stepping forward, holding her hands up as if to display all the beauty. And she was right, the sun was perfect, shining to the point of where it came down in shattered rays, sparkling off the water perfectly. She turned around to face Vince, the shattered bits of sunlight hitting her, and causing her to just sparkle like the stars. "What do you think? Isn't it just gorgeous?" she asked, smiling ever so sweetly, her ocean eyes sparkling happily. The C l u e l e s s AssassinI don't k n o w how I should f e e l

Vince blinked a bit at her peculiar reaction to his agreement. His eyes followed her in her rush to the stairs, head slightly tilted to the side. She obviously realized how strange she was with how rosy her cheeks were. He fought the smile that wanted to crawl onto his face. He didn't say anything after she spoke and practically sprinted for the guest room. After she was gone, he chuckled a little. What a strange girl...
Truthfully, he wouldn't need to put anything more on than the wife beater and grey sweatpants he already had on. He didn't really mind the cold, and if he did grow a little chilly, he could simply raise his own body temperature with his pyro abilities. It was Autumn though. And though the trees hadn't started to die yet, it was getting to be brisk out. A normal human would require some sort of jacket. His lips pulled into a thin line. He hated having to pretend that he was normal. He wasn't. And by no means in a good way. Another sigh left him as he approached the shadow of the banister to the stairs. I like her. Diego's thoughts made Vince freeze. He looked over his shoulder at his panther, who had re-entered the room once the girl had run off. Good for you. The panther's snout pulled back, giving him a toothy grin. Don't act like you don't too. To this, Vince glared harshly at the wild beast standing before him. Careful with what you say... He warned the panther, who simply turned his nose up at that remark. Just keep in mind she seems to be quite the special girl. She didn't even flinch at me after all...and you can touch her. With that note left in the air, the panther walked off again. He knew how lonely his master was constantly, and he knew how badly he longed for some sort of hope that he wasn't as terrible as he made himself out to be. Perhaps this girl could help...
Vince watched his panther for a moment, not really wanting to admit to what it had just said. He turned back to the banister before looking down at the shadow that it cast around his feet. Kat was still in her room, but she'd probably be ready and coming down shortly. The shadow beneath him darkened, and as if it had sucked the floor beneath him away, Vince slid into it. When his head disappeared beneath the pool of shadow, it returned to the normal shadow the railing cast. He reappeared in the shadow that was cast by his bedroom door on the second floor, which was closed. He looked around his master bedroom, which was both elegant and simple, before he walked through his room to the large walk in closet that was to the left of his king size bed. He opened the door to the closet, which was more like another small room than a closet. His eyes quickly scanned through the many articles of clothes hanging upon their hangers before he settled on his black zippered hoodie with a repentagram printed in white that faded to gray toward the bottom on the back. He took it off it's hanger and slipped into it before looking at the floor to the many shoes that lined one side. He grabbed a pair of black Diesel sneakers and slipped into them. Truthfully, he liked the style of these modern times than he had of many of his past wardrobes. They were unique, stylish, quite comfortable, and not as complicated to put on as tunics or the dress shirts of old England had been.
With his get up complete, he left his room and walked down the stairs to where Kat was already waiting for him. He smiled briefly at her before the two of them walked out his front door. He stopped momentarily to lock the door. He knew some of the kids around town liked to try and be "cool" and approach his mansion though it was supposed to be "haunted". The last thing he needed was some delinquent child to break into his house, get mauled by Diego, and him having to drag the body out with the heart ripping out the moment he touched it. He mentally groaned...that would be a horrible situation. He put the keys to his house in one of his sweatpants' pockets, separate from the keys hanging upon his neck, and shoved his hands into the pockets of his hoodie as he followed Kat down the path from his house. His crimson eyes lifted from the ground, and took Kat in as she glowered in being outside. She seemed so happy...he envied her. The sun was brighter than he'd expected it to be with the cloudy sky. He didn't mind it though, it wasn't excessive. His eyes followed Kat as she came back to walk beside him. She made him want to smile more than he'd ever wanted to in...he couldn't even remember how long. And so, he smiled a bit at her before returning his eyes to the road. He listened silently to her soft little tune. He didn't really think much about her wounds. Yes, they were crippling, but he figured her lack of pain was due to his healing ability. The soothsayers he'd learned from had very effective ways to kill pain, which he tried to mimic the first two days she was in his care. He thought nothing of if it was her ability to handle pain. Vince tensed when he saw the lady walking toward them, and he made sure Kat was the one between them. If anyone was going to get bumped, it by no means could be him. And he'd learned through his experiences with humans, that they were rude and didn't care about knocking into someone slightly.
Sure enough, Kat and the woman knocked into each other. Kat stumbled back into him a bit, and he reflexively brought his hands up and put them on her shoulders, steadying her. Then she flipped around to look at the woman. He shook his head a bit. "It's alright." He responded to her apology. She seemed a bit dazed about what had just happened...perhaps she wasn't much of a people person either? His thoughts were broken quickly as Kat gushed about this "spot" she wanted to show him. Then sure enough, she was pulling him along, starting to run through town. He kept up easily, though THIS made him wonder how her wounds weren't hurting her. Sure, she should be able to move, but not this well. The two of them ran through the town, until the reached the adjacent forest. When they finally stopped, Vince didn't even notice their surroundings at first. He stared at Kat, wondering why she wasn't in pain...why she could move so fast...why...she was so beautiful. His mouth opened a bit, stunned by how radiant the sun seemed to make her. It was unnatural. "Yes...quite miraculous." He said softly, until he realized he was still looking at her. His eyes swiftly, and smoothly, darted away from her, finally looking to the spot where they were. It was indeed beautiful. Everything about it seemed enchanted and quite magical. It was like the place you'd find in a fairy tale. He slowly walked forward, past Kat and to the stream. He kneeled beside it and, after pulling his sleeve up a bit, gently slid his hand into the slowly running water. It was cold, but wonderfully refreshing. His head turned to the side, looking at the waterfall that fell into the stream. He smiled, a bit more widely than he had been before. "This is quite lovely. How did you find this place?" He asked as he stood up and turned to face her, shaking his hand a bit to dry it off.

Katarinia ||Isabelle || Corbane----
I don't know if you can hear me where ever you are, but just know I need you now more then ever d a d d y. ღ_____ I'm starting to wonder what my true {p u r p o s e} is;; I shouldn't have been the one that lived. I'm not worthy. As she waited ever so excitedly for his response, she noticed something. He was staring at her, like really staring. That made her get a little nervous, and she turned her head to look behind her as if expecting that he was looking at something, anything other then her. But when she seen nothing out of the ordinary, she turned to him, as he spoke. Her eyes met his for just a moment as she noticed he had still be staring at her when he said that. She turned quickly to face the stream, as if she hadn't noticed that he'd been staring at her. It was also a way for her to hide the deep blush that had graced her cheeks. She took in a gentle breath of the fresh air, and she gently closed her eyes, feeling ten times better now that she was outside. It was like her home, it was her sanctuary. It had been the only reliable source of shelter and warmth she knew for such a long time, that she now preferred to be outside rather then inside. Sure, a nice comfortable bed with blankets and pillows was amazing and all, but nothing could compare to laying beneath the stars night after night, and still not being able to familiarize with it because the sky changed every single night. The smell of home cooking was entrancing, but even more intoxicating was the smell of the Earth just after it had rained. Everything so fresh and pure, cleansed perfectly.
She almost lost herself to the point of which she barely registered his question. But after a few more seconds she looked at him, and noticed the smile on his face. It was much wider then some of his other smiles, and so she smiled back, as brightly as ever. She was very glad that he thought the place was just as beautiful as she did. Humans rarely found such astonishment in nature anymore, and they were far too preoccupied with their technology and greed to appreciate the Earth anymore. She thought silently about his question for a few moments. Well she knew the answer, but she was contemplating on whether or not she should reveal a little bit about herself, or lie again. The thought of lying when she didn't necessarily have to, made her want to cringe, and so after a few moments of mental contemplation, she decided that the best idea would be to go for the truth. She took in a breath and smiled faintly to Vince. "Well, I just kind of stumbled upon this place a few nights ago as I was passing through. I'm quite the adventurer, and I adore exploring, so I always tend to stray from the streets into the woods or ravines, pretty much anything where I can lose myself in nature." she said, her voice slightly strained as she spoke. Speaking about being a traveller, a wanderer, a homeless person, or as the modern people would call her, a bum, was rather difficult. She didn't like to admit that she didn't have a home, or a family to go home to.
She knelt down and ran her fingers in the water running from the stream. She looked over at Vince with a smile. "I travel around a lot. So with that mixed in with my knack for exploration, I tend to find places like this a lot. They're all over, and they are all so beautiful. It's really sad to know that no one ever pays attention to them anymore. But that could be just me." she said smiling as she stood up, flicking her hands off. "I guess when you're surrounded by nature for so long, when you rely on it for pretty much everything, you really grow to appreciate it." she said smiling, as she looked all around. She elegantly placed one foot upon a rock protruding from the stream, as her legs weren't long enough to just step over the stream. And with that she hopped over to the other side. She turned and gestured for Vince to follow. She waited for him to cross the stream, and then she led him over to the Willow tree with the variety of flowers growing beneath it. She got there and plopped down, making sure to pull Vince down next to her, as she wanted him to indulge in the nature just as much as she was. She sprawled out in the flowers, laying down, and staring up at the many hanging vines of the willow tree. They swayed ever so slightly in the breeze.
She closed her eyes for a moment and took in an ever gentle breath. "I slept here the night before I stumbled onto your porch. And you know, I remember just wondering where I was going to go next. If I had known I was going to end up at your front door, I would've done it not so injured, and more conscious then I did." she said opening her eyes as she looked to Vince with a smile. After a few moments she turned and looked at all the flowers on her side. She found a rather unique orange colored one with yellow and pick flecks, and she plucked it ever so delicately. She then turned and gently placed it behind one of Vince's ear, so it looked as if it were placed in his hair. She smiled softly and giggled. "I think you look much better now." she said, smiling happily, as she sat up, and looked around. She reached up and grabbed two of the vines. She helped herself up with the vines that barely seemed to move with her added weight. Of course that's because the tree was reacting to her, and actually helping her up, though it looked like she had pulled herself up. She didn't let go of the vines though, as she was up and standing. She began to hum again, and with that she began to dance with the two vines.
And the way she was dancing with those vines, it almost looked like the vines were dancing back. She smiled happily as she twirled around with the vines, as if she were dancing with someone. Her movements elegant and ever so graceful as she glided across the ground. She danced along with the vines for just a bit, twirling until she was back by Vince. Releasing the vines she looked down at him and smiled, holding out her hands to him. She knelt down slightly and took both of his hands in her own. "Dance with me." she said smiling happily, as she pulled, getting him into a sitting position. Her eyes sparkled ever so happily as she tugged gently on his hands, making sure not to let go. "Come on it won't hurt a single thing!" she said happily as she tilted her head to him, obviously having a lot of fun. It was really clear in those moments, probably more then ever before, how much of a free spirit she truly was. It showed that little could hold her back and she tried to make the best out of everything. After a few more moments, a playful, yet slightly questioning look came across her face. "Unless that is, you don't know how to dance.." she said, her voice challenging, as she smiled brightly. "Or. You are intimidated by the tree's superior dancing skills." she said as her grip on his hands loosened. She smiled playfully as she looked at him and then the tree, as if she truly believed that he was scared a tree would be able to out-dance him. As he listened to her give her explanation, his aimlessly wandered toward the waterfall. It was only about as high as he was, quite small, yet beautiful nonetheless. Nature was quite astounding at times; and he rarely was able to appreciate it due to his self imprisonment. It wasn't safe...for anyone. His brow raised by her answer, though his crimson eyes still remained fixated on the rushing cascades of the small waterfall he was beside. He could feel the mist spraying off from the impact the torrent the water caused. It was soothing on his skin. The minuscule droplets of water did little to ease his mind though. She was a traveler...that told him something. She was alone. Humans, as they were nowadays, weren't keen on extended traveling. Too many things tied them down to their homes. Friends, family, jobs, and other such things the stability of their grounded homes provided. Those that did travel tended to travel alone, or in small groups. It made things easier. Given that no one had showed up with her a few days ago, he was going to guess alone…unless her friends were killed by whatever wounded her. Still, she would have mentioned if she had friends with her he assumed; she‘d want to look for them. This gave him one ease; no one would come knocking on his door looking for her. Though he wondered if, perhaps, she did have family, if they‘d be immune to his touch as well. He was glad he wouldn‘t have to find out.
He watched her silently hop across the small stream and offered another small smile before he followed. His legs were much longer so he was able to step gracefully from one smooth rock to the next. He allowed her to grab his hand, still marveling at the fact that she could touch his skin, and lead him toward the willow tree. Placing one hand behind him for support, he gently fell backward as Kat pulled him to sit down. Knees bent in front of him, he allowed his arms to drape over his knee caps. His crimson orbs studied the flower bed beneath them that reached out toward this side of the stream.
His eyes slowly shifted to her as she spoke about the night she stumbled on his door step, his neck having to crane back a bit to see her face since she was laying down, and he gave her a faint smile. Before he could respond with anything, she‘d stuck a flower behind his ear. His smile fell and his face became more quizzical than it just had been. ”Gee…thanks…” He mumbled bitterly, though he didn‘t reach to move the flower. Without his head moving, his eyes shifted to follow her movements as she rose using the vines. Head cocking to the side a bit, he watched with interest as she began to dance. She was quite good at it, he noted, graceful even. He faltered slightly when she grabbed his hands and asked him to dance. It had been centuries since he‘d last danced with someone, and though it was something he wouldn‘t forget, the thought of dancing with someone now made him uneasy. She must have noticed since she said it wouldn‘t hurt. He wasn‘t worried about it hurting…he was just worried about being so close with someone. It didn‘t matter if he could touch her; this was a different kind of close. And then…she challenged him. His eyes momentarily narrowed and he fought the scowl that threatened to break loose on his face. As she looked toward the tree, he was on his feet within a second, towering over her. His crimson eyes were burning intensely as he looked down at her. If he had a heart, it would have started racing, being so close to someone, to her.
He placed his palms against hers and raised their hands. Guiding her hands, he brought one up to rest on his shoulder, and he gripped her other firmly within his other. His free hand fell until it found her hip, and he placed it there gently. His blood red eyes never left her. Slowly, he led them into a waltz, the kind fancy ballroom parties used to have. His movements were smooth and elegant, showing more of his old century upbringing. He smiled briefly before he twirled her around, pulling her back in without missing a beat. He allowed half a chuckle to escape him at how happy she seemed to be. He couldn‘t help it; her joy was infecting him despite himself. He kind of liked it…and that was dangerous. He drew their dance to a halt upon that thought. He smiled at her half heartedly as he dropped her hand and released her hip from his grip before taking a small step back from her.
”I may be no match for the tree…but I do know a thing or two about dancing. He said jokingly, flashing a crooked smile at her before he eased his back against the willow tree. His hands found their way into his hoodie‘s pockets. He could feel the questions he so desperately wanted to ask bubbling within his gut. One piece of the puzzle had been found, but with it, sprung a whole slew of new questions. He just needed to know. ”So…how long have you been a wandering traveler?” He asked casually, not trying to seem too interested in her response.

I don't know if you can hear me where ever you are, but just know I need you now more then ever d a d d y. ღ_____ I'm starting to wonder what my true {p u r p o s e} is;; I shouldn't have been the one that lived. I'm not worthy. She knew that her challenge had hit the right button within him as soon as his eyes temporarily narrowed. He was on his feet quickly, almost causing her to squeak out of shock at how quickly he had moved. But she just rose her head, having to look up at him as he was towering over her. Okay now she was a little intimidated. He was so tall, and his deep crimson eyes were burning down on her. It seemed for a moment that he could be mad, but she could sense something else. She felt her heart skip a beat after realizing how utterly close they were, but other then that mere skip, she allowed no faltering within her composure. The burning in his deep eyes was so intense, she swore she could almost feel heat. It almost took her breath away, but she knew much better then to be so easily controlled by such an intense stare. And so she simply stared back with her own eyes, glittering ocean blue. Her intensity probably didn't match his, but she was showing a different kind of intensity. The air around her almost seemed warm, and the look in her eyes were not challenging, but instead intense welcoming, and warmth. She probably could have pulled off a more rigid, serious aura about her, had she been able to control her smile. But she couldn't wipe it off her face. There was something about her that just made her want to smile, something unexplainable. Perhaps she was smiling because he didn't smile that much, maybe she was smiling for him. Or maybe, just maybe, she was smiling because of him.
His palms touched her own, and then he raised their hands. He guided her hands and she allowed him to do so, not looking away from him as he was doing to her. Her eyes just stared back into his, though while he seemed serious, she looked happy and like she was having fun. Her hand rested upon his shoulder while her other was held firmly within his hand. His free hand rested at her hip, and it was in those few moments of stillness, that she felt something boiling up within her. He had accepted her challenge, he was going to dance with her. It was actual excitement. Her eyes glittered in the sunlight, and with that simple smile, they were off. He led them into a waltz, a very nice choice of dance, and one she hadn't done in ever so long. It had indeed been many years since she had dared to dance the very moves that had strengthened her heart, her mind, her determination. It was almost like training for her, and to be reliving it all over again, was really deep, and meaningful for her. She smiled softly, closing her eyes as she danced, she could visualize everything. The dance was so powerful, it held such an influence on her soul, her heart, her mind... It brought back so many memories.
She could so vividly remember dancing with her father when she was so young. She remembered having to stand on his large feet, her hands grasped within his massive, smooth hands. She remembered having to tilt her head so far back to look up at her father who was looking down on her with a sweetly smiling face. She remembered Maloki always cutting in, so he could pick her up and spin her around, her dip her down as if they were dancing all fancy for a ball. But perhaps more vividly then it all, did she remember dancing with the elderly man who had adopted her. Pappy, she called him, was an amazing dancer. He was tall and though he looked frail, he was strong as an ox. The top of his head was bald and always glistened in the light, and his thick gray mustache was always perfectly trimmed. His deep almond eyes always sparkled at her, and he always held a sweet chuckle. She remembered the many things he taught her in life, as if he were her grandfather. She remembered how he always smelt of fresh cinnamon rolls, with a hint of mint due to his years of gathering exotic, medicinal herbs. He was the one that had taught her the waltz, and that was why she could do the dance so well. After hours of practice and laughing, she had memorized the dance. The elderly man always danced, whether it be a simple little hop in his step along with some humorous hand movements while he was walking down the hall, or a serious waltz, where his kindness was evenly matched with professionalism in such an art. The memories clouded her, but then, she noticed something about Vincent...
His movements were ever so elegant and smooth, it was almost like they were floating on air, just gliding through the clouds. She followed him perfectly, having the memorized steps fresh within her mind as she remained focused upon him. Though it wasn't much longer until her slight smile broke out and she let out a happy laugh. He twirled her out, and then pulled her back in, and it was then that she caught his smile. They didn't miss a beat, and she giggled at his half chuckle. He was having fun, or so that's how she read it. She didn't care if her happiness was infecting him. He was happy some how, some way, and that was her goal in the challenge to dance. It was after a few more seconds that their dance slowly stopped, and his hands retracted from her, and her hands retracted from him. He smiled at her and she smiled back before bowing into a curtsy, looking at him ever so playfully. He spoke first, saying that he might not be a match for the tree, but that he did knew a few things about dancing. She looked at him with a smile and shook her head. "While it was a very close match, I do believe you won. The tree is a wonderful partner, but I think it helps when the partner has hands and can move around." she said smiling happily. She looked at the tree for a moment, smiling gently, before returning her warm gaze back to him. Her understanding eyes rested easily upon him, and she watched as he leaned back against the tree, his hands slipping into his pockets.
He then spoke, his voice casual as he voiced out another question. This one was about the time span of which she had been a wanderer. He was wondering how long it had been since she had last had a purpose, in her eyes. He was asking the last time she had a warm home, a family. He was asking a lot, with such few words. Her eyes hit the ground, and her smile faltered, and a more serious look came to her face. It almost seemed wrong, that expression. It seemed as if the serious, solemn, almost sad look was not meant to ever grace her beautiful features. And yet there that expression sat, clinging to her features as she thought. She had left the village that she and the elderly couple had lived in, when she was around the human age of thirteen. But then she met up with that man and she lived with him for years. But of course she couldn't leak out her training or affiliations with mobs and assassins to Vince. She also couldn't tell him that it had actually been at least one hundred years since she had last settled. And so, she figured she'd cut things off after the elderly couple that she would refer to as her grandparents had passed. She also bumped up the age, so it didn't seem too far fetched. She took in a breath, running everything through her head just once more before she answered his question to make sure it would work.
Her eyes then rose to his, and she smiled faintly. "Well, I have been on my own since my grand parents died. Pappy and Mamsy died within about a day of each other. I don't think that they could be separated, and so when Mamsy died, Pappy just kind of faded away with her. I think he died of a broken heart." she said nodding, her voice having grown ever so gentle and serious. It was clear the subject she was on now, was a tough one for her to speak about. "I was sixteen years old, when I left their home. And I've been on my own ever since." she said, shrugging her shoulders with a saddened smile on her face. Her eyes rose up to the sky and it was almost like Pappy and Mamsy were staring down on her, giving her the answers and the strength she needed. The warm sunlight hit her skin, and again she glowed. But it wasn't nearly as radiant as before. It was much more solemn, as if the sun had lost intensity in respect for the moment. A gentle breeze picked up, and it swayed her beautiful hair to and fro. "I guess I always felt that there would never be another permanent home for me, after they died. A house is just a house, without them. Nothing ever really feels like home, without them, you know? The absence of my Mamsy's home cooking in the morning, the sound of her singing her lullabies at night...Or Pappy's chuckle in the afternoon, as he told an old story or joke for the millionth time. The smell of fresh cinnamon buns filling the house, just the warmth that came with them, and all that they did. Without it, I don't really feel settled, I don't feel like I'm at home. And so I travel, wander about from place to place. Nature has become my home now..." she said softly, as a faint smile hit her lips.
"Sorry about my rambling, I know you don't need to hear me ramble on. I just tend to get a little carried away when I think about the past." she said with a gentle smile. She then lowered her head to him, and she tilted her head in a questioning fashion. She wanted to know more about him. He had asked her questions, and now it was her turn. Her eyes sparkled, and so she spoke. "So now you know why I'm all alone...Can I ask why you're all by your lonesome up in that big house? I would have never expected someone as kind as yourself to be living by yourself...Unless you've got family on vacation or something." she said softly. But she really did want to know. Why was he so alone? Why were people terrified of his house? The C l u e l e s s AssassinI don't k n o w how I should f e e l

Vince watched her intently, his smoldering eyes searching for the answers he sought that were locked away behind those beautiful eyes she had. His brows knitted slightly and his lips tightened as her expression became sorrowful, almost painful. He could tell this wouldn’t be a happy story. It almost made him sorry for asking, almost. His curiosity burned too intensely to allow remorse. Still, it bothered him to see her without her smile. She looked so different. Still mesmerizing, but it paled her unmatchable beauty, like an angel who’d been stripped of it’s wings. It was a sin he’d be sure to avoid in the future. She took awhile to answer him, he figured it was so she could compose herself. When she looked back up to him, his expression became indifferent, though he wanted to wince at the sad smile that flashed across her pink lips. He listened to her short story without a sound, without movement…still as a statue. A very somber aura seemed to grip their little paradise. Sixteen was such a young age to be all alone. He could tell by her tone her grandparents were especially important to her. They must have been nice people, if they were anything like Kat. He was sure they were, something so kind couldn’t come from anything except kindness. His crimson eyes glinted a bit as she looked toward the sky, bringing her pale skin to glitter dully with the sunlight, almost like diamonds. He wanted to take a step toward her, to touch her again, yet he held fast to the tree he was against.
He didn’t know what to say. He never really had to comfort anyone before. Aside from his sister of course, but that was a lifetime ago. That man no longer existed, only this empty shell. He was grateful Kat started talking again because it distracted him from his own nothingness. He understood what she was saying, about a home not feeling like a home without the people who made it so, but not because he’d experienced it himself. He never had a home. His sister had been the only thing that had ever brought him close to feeling…anything good. But they had been prisoners in their parents tormented world. Condemned at birth, he never knew what a home felt like. He could only imagine what it might be like. And imagine he would do, until he died; a home was something he knew he would never have. He smiled sadly as she described her homely attributes. ”Sounds nice…” He said dully, barely above a whisper. He was about to dismiss her silly apology when she asked probably the only thing that would take his breath away. He stared at her for a long moment, processing her question as it tore gashes into his gut. His empty chest screamed out in agony as his mind trembled upon the edge of insanity. Yet, his outwardly features just seemed to stare, incapable of motion. He was nothing but a statue, and empty shell leaning against a tree for support. But he couldn’t hide everything. His jaw clenched, making his mouth rigid and his blood red eyes darkened. Even his skin seemed to darken, so instead of a pale white, it was slightly grayish, loosing its pale glow. His darkened features even infected the area around him. The beauty and glow of the meadow around where he stood lost it’s shimmer; it became duller and bleaker, as if he was sapping the life out of the greenery around him.
”I don’t have a family.” He said calmly, though he couldn’t hold the bitterness out of his tone. No one had asked him about his family before, and so, it was especially difficult to contain his emotionless persona. He swallowed harshly as he pushed himself off the tree, slowly gliding toward her. He knew she didn’t mean to upset him, he could see the guilt building up in her eyes. He wasn’t angry with her, but he couldn’t stop himself from feeling the rage he always pent up inside him. She was the only one who had even come close to breaking down his complexly built walls. They would never break down more than this though, he wouldn’t allow it. It was far too dangerous. Still, he felt compelled to share his story with her. Not because he wanted to punish her for asking, or because he wanted to ruin their day. He simply wanted to tell her, to be open with her. And whether it was because he wanted someone, or it was just her, he didn’t know. The eerie greyness that infected the area around him followed him as he walked. ”I had one, once…a long time ago. Though it could hardly be called a family. My sister, was the only one who ever meant anything to me. Her name was Aleera.” His tone softened when he spoke of her, loosing it’s bitter edge and becoming far less harsh. It darkened again as he continued. ”My mother barely cared for us, and my father…was insane. It poisoned him, and he eventually killed them both. I left after that, for many years. I came back long after his madness had claimed him as well.” He looked up at her finally, to see how his story had affected her innocent, pure heart. ”That’s why the locals say my house is haunted…” He muttered, laughing angrily without humor after. His eyes fell back to the ground and he kicked at a rock that was near his foot. It sprung forward, bouncing once against the ground before it fell into the stream with a ’plop’. He once again looked up at Kat. He felt bad now, for telling such a horrible story. It ruined the whole mood. And he'd already committed the sin he'd wanted to make sure not to do again...he took her smile away. What a horrible monster he was! How could she in her right mind think him to be kind? He took a deep breath to clear his mind. ”Forgive me…I did not mean to put a damper on our afternoon.” He said kindly, the bitterness gone from his voice as if it had never been their in the first place. His features lightened, returning to their normal paleness and the meadow once again became a beautiful little haven. He smiled a little. ”Don’t worry. I’m fine. Come, we’ve been active for far too long…you should get some more rest before you end up hurting yourself again.” He said softly, a small smile playing on his lips, though it never reached his eyes. He held his hand out, motioning for her to lead the way back to town.

I don't know if you can hear me where ever you are, but just know I need you now more then ever d a d d y. ღ_____ I'm starting to wonder what my true {p u r p o s e} is;; I shouldn't have been the one that lived. I'm not worthy. Throughout her small little story, she had noticed one feature about Vince that seemed rather odd to her. He was completely still throughout the story, the sad parts didn't bring any sorrow upon his face. She couldn't sense any emotion either, which was odd to her. The natural human reaction to a story like that was to feel sad, and yet Vince didn't produce such an emotion. Perhaps her empathy was out of whack and she just wasn't sensing it. Or maybe, he was just that well composed. Either way it astounded her, to be so emotionless like that. But she also had to realize that she was coming from another side of the spectrum, having to deal with emotions all the time didn't make her a rock hard person. It was literally impossible for her to even think of being that emotionless, at any time in her life. She was just a ball of emotions, and she knew how overwhelming emotions were, so she felt that perhaps Vince was simply avoiding that feeling. It was a reasonable reaction, as he seemed to be the person who would want to hold composure even in the direst of situations. But still, something about it just made her uneasy; of course she hid this uneasiness though. After her story was finished, silence rang out and engulfed the miniature sized paradise. She suddenly wanted to curl up into a small ball and just go far away from there. She hated those kinds of silences, because she never knew what to do to break them. She took in a breath, and her eyes rose to Vince, where she noticed one thing. The sad smile upon his lips, before he spoke, mentioning that the features of her home sounded nice.
That made her heart ache, the tone of his voice. She couldn’t stand it, but the worst was still coming. After her question had been voiced, Vince's smile disappeared completely, something she didn't want. She hadn't thought of the negative side of her question, and as Vince simply stared at her, she realized her question hadn't been the best to ask. She could already feel that it wasn't going to be a happy story, which made her sad. She had hoped he would smile and mention his huge, loving family was off on vacation or something of that extent. But her hopes for that to happen had just been completely shattered. His stare was a stare she never, ever wanted to encounter again. It made her feel like he was staring into the very depths of her soul, tearing up her insides and finding out her deepest of secrets. It made her feel very small and insignificant. She bit her lip, wanting to flinch away when Vince's skin grew to that darker gray tone. The area around him seemed to darken, as did his eyes. It looked like he was simply sucking the life out of the tree he was leaning against, draining it of its beauty for strength. It must have been a really difficult thing to think about because she could sense somewhat of an emotional struggle going on. She noticed his jaw clench, and she let out a slight wince, not liking that sight. Her goal had been to make him smile, yet she had accomplished only the very opposite, oh what a failure she was.
Finally he spoke, breaking the very awkward silence. His tone didn't help the situation though, and it in fact made Kat cringe. Those simple five words broke her spirit and her heart. She suddenly felt horrid, the guilt bubbling up within her mind at the thought of how she had been so mindless to ask such a question. She had not meant to upset him, and knowing that she did, made her feel horridly guilty. The guilt had began to bubble at the ending of her question when he first started showing signs of his pain, but now the guilt had engulfed her completely, swallowed her whole. It was brimming, and it was taking every bit of power she had in the composure department not to break out into apologies. She watched him carefully, her eyes lightened and dulled with the feeling of guilt and remorse for her stupid little question that was causing him so much pain. Oh how she just wanted to cry. She watched him scowl and then push off of the tree, gliding over to her. She almost expected, no she wanted him to just kick her directly in the face for asking such a stupid question. Yet not violent act was made towards her, he made no move to harm her in any way. She watched as he came near her, the dull darkness that seemed to be created from his emotional pain following him around like a rainy cloud.
His story continued, and it only continued to make her feel bad about asking it. And she thought she had it rough. At least she had memories of a good family; at least she had the old feelings. But it sounded like Vince hadn't known such things. It sounded like the only kindness within his life had been ripped away from him long ago. It made her heart ache, and her insides twisted and turned until she felt like her guts were in one huge emotional knot. She felt sick to her stomach, almost compelled to lose her breakfast at how much guilt she felt over the subject. But she just sat there, her eyes guilty and sad, remorseful and filled with pure sorrow. A slight lining of tears had even showed up, only a little though, and they weren't threatening to spill over just yet. His last sentence, his angry laugh, which was the cherry atop her horrid sundae of pure guilt. She cringed outwardly at that laugh; it was a laugh she could only wish to never hear again. It was a horrid thing, that laugh, angry and horridly empty of any type of warmth. It must have been horrid, to know that everyone was terrified of your house because of the absolutely tragic things that happened there. And he still lived in the house, a house that had to be plagued to the top with horrid memories and feelings. That's why everything was so empty, so utterly unused. She had become so horrified that she had caused so much pain with her simple question that she'd lost herself within the depths of her own mind. She had to close her eyes; she had to close the door to all her emotions at that moment. And so, her deep ocean blue orbs disappeared beneath her eye lids, hidden from Vince for those moments, to hide the fact that she now hated herself for one, stupid question.
She was scolding herself, screaming at herself, internally beating herself up because she felt that bad. It was only when he spoke that she snapped out of her thoughts. Her eyes opened slowly, glistening with a lining of tears that made her eyes sparkle, but it wasn't a good sparkle. His next sentence made her cringe even more then the last time, and she turned her head away from him, hair falling into her face to hide her eyes, filled with tears that wanted to spill over so badly. It was clear that she was feeling a little worse than horridly guilty. And he apologized; he apologized for sharing his story. Something that she felt he would never have to apologize for. She really did thank him for being open with her despite the pain it must have caused him to tell her such stories. It must have been an utterly terrible thing to have to do and yet he'd still done it. And then he apologized for dampening the mood. Well he certainly hadn't made her upset; he hadn't caused any of the bad emotions she was feeling. She had. She had caused every single ounce of emotional pain that both of them were feeling, because she was the one that asked without thinking. She should have known better, especially having her own story in consideration. She was such a fool, a complete and total fool.
She was feeling a little better to hear the absence of the bitterness his tone had held moments before as he had told the story. The darkness that had seemed to come from him too, was gone. She was thankful, but she couldn't bring herself to smile. She couldn't hide it. She didn't know why either. Usually she was quite good at hiding her emotions. But Vince...There was just something about him that made it so much harder to control her emotions. It was like no matter how hard she tried he'd just notice them anyways. He was just that observant, he like drew them out of her. She couldn't help it. She had not met someone who had broken her barriers so easily, but there were still some standing tall and strong. The barriers that guarded her secret, her real past. The barriers that she could never allow Vince to break in fear that he would be in danger, and that he would hate her for lying to him. She would be leaving soon, probably to his delight anyways, so it didn't much matter. She wanted his memories of her to be happy ones, not ones filled with lies and secrets. He smiled a little, she could just feel it. And then he mentioned he was fine, and expressed concern that they should get home so she could rest. He held out his hand, and that was when she turned to face him. The tears had not fallen just yet, but they looked as if they were going to spill over at any second. She stared at the small smile playing upon his lips, and despite it she knew he was still hurting. It was a hurt that she had caused, and a hurt that she would try her hardest to heal throughout her stay. Not by being a therapist and prescribing medications. Oh no. She was going to shower him with kindness, shower him with all the warmth he had missed out on. She would make it up to him. And she was going to start right that instant.
She hesitated for just a moment, and then she moved. She moved quicker than anyone should have been able to move, especially her. She moved too quickly, quickly enough that he wouldn't have any ample time to really react. She was up, and she bypassed his hand, and outstretched arm. And within a time frame of about two seconds she had moved from her place on the ground, to up against him, her arms wrapped tightly around him. She was hugging him, in probably one of the warmest embraces she could possibly give at that moment, and to someone who she knew very little about. She probably needed that hug just about as much as he did, so she didn't do it just out of pure selflessness. She had more than one motive, it was to give comfort, and receive just a little. It had been so long since she had last hugged someone, so long since she had felt the warmth of another. She was so absorbed it that she had not noticed he held no heart beat. She hadn't noticed a single suspicious thing. "I'm so sorry." she whispered, her voice only loud enough he could barely hear her sincere apology. And after a few moments of hugging him tightly she released him just as quickly as she had gripped him, and then she grabbed his hand and started leading him back to the house without a word. Her tears had begun to fall and she hadn't wanted him to see, and so she faced forward, walking quickly in hopes he wouldn't walk at her side. Her other hand lifted and she wiped away the tears with a soft sniffle she was praying he didn't hear.
She cursed herself within the confinements of her mind. She was acting a fool. She was much stronger than that and yet she was so weak. What was wrong with her?!? He probably was trying not to laugh at her for being so silly. Gah, she couldn't do anything right. The C l u e l e s s AssassinI don't k n o w how I should f e e l

After Vince had told his story, he went back through the events that just happened, assessing Kat's reaction over and over again in his mind. It almost looked like she'd physically been hurt by his story. Like the guilt and the sorrow she felt from hearing his words actually wounded her. It astounded him. He'd never met a person so affected not only by their own emotions, but by others as well. She winced to his words more than once he noticed. How could such an angel exist? A true empath...could she really be just a frail little human? His senses deceived him. Of course, he was unsparingly biased. He hated humans with more passion that new lovers had for each other. Humans, time and time again, proved to him that they were selfish, careless, and devious creatures. Almost as ugly on the inside as he was. Perhaps he'd just never met anyone like Kat. A human who was closer to an angel than a mortal. For the first time since they'd met, Vince was truly grateful he couldn't kill Kat by mere contact, and not just baffled by it. He was sure that her heart was one of the purest he'd ever have the pleasure to come in contact with. By that standard, she should be dead already, supplying him with his second heart to the pathetic collection he'd gathered. But she wasn't! She was alive and well...er getting there.
He had been staring at her the whole time, oblivious to the awkward silence Kat was drowning in due to the stream of thoughts he'd just gone through. When his thoughts released him from their grasp, he noticed her eyes again. Beautiful...and glossy. She looked as if the whole ocean were trapped within her shimmering eyes. She was about to cry...In that instance, he panicked. He needed to make her tears go away before they fell over and stained her flushed cheeks. But he had no idea what to do. Why was he being so irrational? They were just drops of water, with no harm in them. But for some reason, he felt compelled to make them disappear. And then his mind went blank.
It didn't go blank from him consciously deciding to stop his thoughts. Nor did it go blank from him stop caring. No, it went blank because without noticing, two small, soft, delicate arms had wrapped around his torso. His eyes widened in both shock and horror. How did this happen? When did they go from standing apart to being so close against each other? Had he really been so consumed by his thoughts that he didn't notice her get so close? He must have been in quite a daze...people getting too close to him sent off a HUGE blaring signal in his mind. The signal to run the other way as fast as possible before they get within a foot. But here he was, being hugged by this petite creature. After the shock of her closeness faded, the horror of what was happening set in. Despite the fact he knew he wouldn't hurt her, he'd been trained for centuries to fear contact, so it still bubbled worry in his gut. But that wasn't the main reason he felt horror. The real reason, was because her head was delicately laying against his chest. His chest that produced no heartbeat...His chest, which was cold and silent as death. Surely she would notice...surely she would back away with fear in her eyes of how someone could stand with no pulse, no heartbeat...no heart. He cringed a little under her touch, so fearful of the outcome that it made him sick to his stomach.
The smallest voice pierced through his torment. It said 'I'm so sorry'. Why? Sorry there was nothing within him that produced warmth or life? Sorry that he didn't have a heartbeat? He felt her trembling voice against his chest and it softened his exterior; his tension melted away from his muscles, easing him into her hug. Her apology didn't come from his monstrosity...it came from her compassion. This little human was trying to comfort him. Based on what he had witnessed just a few moments ago, he concluded that she was so tormented by his pain that she was too lost to realize the danger she was in...the danger he was. Now, he didn't know what to do. He hadn't been in a position like this in almost a thousand years...tentatively, he brought his arms up. It felt awkward. He didn't know what to do with them. His lip pulled up at the side, making his face look strained and confused. He jerkily, and hesitantly brought his hand down, but just as it was about to rest upon her shoulder, she vanished from his grasp only to grab the hand he was about to touch her with. A disappointed frown crossed his face. He screwed that one up...
What was wrong with him? Usually this sort of thing was easy for him....the being charming and collected part anyway. What was happening? It was all these feelings. They were messing with his head and making him get sloppy. He didn't like it. He was losing his head and he couldn't afford that. With his free hand, he ran it through his hair trying to release some of the strain. He needed to clear his head...somehow. But this girl! He looked down at Kat who he was walking next to now; she had her head bowed, as if she were ashamed of something. She was getting under his skin, and fast. More importantly, she was getting under his skin in a way he didn't understand...he couldn't understand how she did it. No one could mess with him or his composure. She had known him for a whole of a few hours and he felt more lost than he had when he first realized what his 'destiny' was. He let out a silent sigh. The walk back to his house was definitely not as pleasant as the walk out...
When they reached the door to his mansion, he dropped Kat's hand and reached into his pocket and pulled out the keys to his front door. The key slid into the lock easily, and he opened the door. He stepped aside to allow Kat to enter first, bowing a little and holding his hand out into the door to show her what he meant. He shut the door behind them and froze in his tracks when he turned and faced the luxurious room lined with the grand staircases. Sitting at the base of one of the stairs was Diego, ears pinned back and teeth barred. He was obviously in a bad mood, but Vince didn't realize why until the panther lifted his left paw.
Look what I found snooping around the house the beast snapped, lifting his paw to reveal a little golden snake dangling from the crease where the panther's toes met it's padded palm. He dropped it to the floor, golden eyes fixated on the snake's slinky movements, and let his tongue flip out over his snout. Think it's poisonous? I want to eat it... Diego thought, his snout growing into a malicious smile as he put his paw out to the side, sideways on the ground to block the little snake that was trying to slither away from him. He slid his paw against the ground toward himself, sliding the snake back to right in front of his chest.
Vince blinked as he observed the snake Diego was playing with like a cat toy. He turned his gaze to Kat, and judging by her reaction, decided the snake probably had something to do with her. "Another...friend, of yours?" He asked politely, cocking his head to the side as he waited for her answer.
((Ahhh. I FINALLY finished!!!! Let me know if the last part with Diego is too much and I'll get right on changing it ^.^))

I don't know if you can hear me where ever you are, but just know I need you now more then ever d a d d y. ღ_____ I'm starting to wonder what my true {p u r p o s e} is;; I shouldn't have been the one that lived. I'm not worthy. She had received no comfort. There hadn't been any gesture to hug her back, that she had noticed. That only made her feel worse then she had before. He must have been really upset with her for asking such a question. Oh how she had ruined things! He had seemed so tense with the exception of the ending of the hug where he seemed to loosen up a bit, probably due to his sympathy for her being so utterly pathetic. The entire walk home, she was absolutely silent with the exception of a few quieted sniffles. She didn't know what to say to him, how to explain her stupidity to him. She was so busy beating herself up that she didn't realize how much damage she was actually doing to herself. One or two of her wounds had re-opened beneath their bandages and had begun to bleed. One of the larger wounds on her leg was among those affected, and the wound began to stain the bandages a silver color before darkening to a crimson. She didn't even seem to notice. She didn't notice the smell of her own blood beginning to soak through the bandages. She didn't feel the warmth of her own blood touching her skin. These were the very distractions and dangers that Luce himself had been worried about. It was amazing how good at predicting such things Luce was, though he had not expected the panther that had abruptly ended his snooping time. Ooh, he would be in so much trouble if he was found out.
While they were out, Luce followed through with his desire to snoop around the house and see if he could find any useful information. There was just something that told Luce that there was more to this man then an empty house and a charming face. He could swear he smelt the darkness that filled the house. Call it instinct. As the snake had made it's decent down the stairs, his sneaking suspicions had only continued to grow. The house was just too empty, too dusty, to unused for it to be so innocent. The house was big enough to house a huge family, yet the only human presence was Vince's. The golden snake's beady black eyes wandered about. He hadn't found anything significant yet. He had explored the kitchen and dining room, and was about to go down one of the many hallways that was within the house. It was then when Luce had been discovered by the large, black panther. He had been tempted to speak then, but he was far too cautious to show any other being his ability to speak. And so, he let the panther attack, but he easily established his own aggression and willingness to protect himself if the panther tried to eat him. With his long, venomous fangs openly displayed and an array of hisses to convey this, he ensured that his life would be spared and the panther's would be lost if any attack was made.
He knew Kat would be horridly upset with him if he tried anything though, and so he made no offensive attack. He allowed the panther to play his feline like games with him, but he ensured that the games kept the panther busy enough to keep his mind off of his hunger. He would simply just stall until Kat got home, and then he'd make his run for it. Sadly, when that time came around, his attempt to escape had failed. It seemed as if this panther was much smarter then he had earlier anticipated. And unfortunately, he was unable to escape the frisky feline's grasp in time. When he heard the front door lock click, he knew he was done for. His life long companion, and dearest friend would most likely skin him and use him for leather boots. When he heard the door open, the snake's head sunk, and his beady black eyes lowered from the door, to the floor. He was waiting for it, waiting for the horrid gasp and disappointed hissing of his name under her breath. But after a few moments of lingering silence, all he heard was Vince speak. Kat had made no outward reaction, she hadn't made a single noise. Another pause caused Luce to finally raise his golden head, no longer occupied with Diego, who seemed to be having a grand time playing with him and his slinky body. His dark eyes fell upon Kat, and that's when he seen the tears...And the blood. A warning hiss shot from the snake, and it was much more violent and threatening then any of his previous warnings. He was no longer in the mood for games.
Kat stared at the panther who currently had her friend within his paws. He was treating poor Luce like a toy, and she could tell Luce was distressed by it. Her tear filled eyes simply stared at the sight. She showed no shock nor scorn towards Luce. She instead, simply stood there, as if in some sort of tormenting trance. Vince spoke to her, but she didn't turn her head to look at him. She didn't want him to see all the tears that had fallen. A simple sniffle was the only sound she made. By this, Luce knew there was something seriously wrong. One more warning hiss, and he was freed from the panther's menacing paws. He slithered quickly, and with a concern that seemed too human-like for any animal to express. The snake didn't care about that now though, he was far too concerned of Kat and what had happened. He stopped at Kat's feet and his head rose to face Vince. Another hiss emitted from him and the snake seemed to send a convicting glare, before proceeding to curl it's way up Kat's body, coiling around her comfortably. He was wrapped tightly around her, stopping at her shoulders so he could turn his head and look her dead in the eyes. The snake tilted it's head, as if to question what was wrong. The snake then leaned forward and nudged away some of her tears, before resting it's head on her shoulder once more.
It was comforting her. It was giving Kat something she desperately needed in those moments. Kat took in a breath, her oceanic eyes closing for a brief few moments. She had to calm herself down. A gentle, almost silent hiss hit her ear and her eyes snapped open. She looked down for just a moment to see the blood trickling down her leg. Her eyes flashed up, widening with the sudden realization and horror that some of her wounds had reopened. It was then when she realized the true extent of her emotional condition. Her empathy was attacking her body and if Vince seen it something horrible would happen. A deep breath entered her lips and inflated her lungs. A deep sigh escaped her lips after that breath, and she felt the coils of Luce tighten around her body, trying to keep her calm. She was trembling, shivering, shaking. She was struggling with dealing with all of it all of a sudden. Her eyes wandered to Vince and for the first time she actually turned her face to him. Her eyes instantly hit the floor. She had to get to her room, she had to hide the blood, the tears, the weakness, the feelings. Her mind race as she tried to conjure up a lie. She had to think and she had to think fast before the ever observant Vince noticed the blood on her leg. He would surely question her about it and she didn't think she could keep lying to him. It was tearing her up.
"...If you'll excuse me..." she said, voice wavering and trembling with a nervousness. Her eyes stayed diverting to the floor. "I'm not feeling well.." she paused, cringing at the lie. "I mean...I think I'm just tired." she said softly, not knowing what to say. Again she figured it wasn't the right thing to say, so she blurted out the last reason she could think of. "I should go feed Jack...I'm sorry about my snake... He will not do it again." she said softly, voice cracking at the ending of her sentence. Her three different reasons for wanting to go to her room made it blatantly obvious she was lying. She ran up the stairs quickly, sobs finally escaping from her lips as she did, the tears streaming down her face again. Oh what a horrid person she was! She got to the room, gently closing it. She shut her eyes, breathing heavily as she pushed her back up against the door as if it was the only thing keeping her from simply floating away into the awful torment known as insanity. Luce curled even tighter around her finally speaking. "Katarinia....Pleasssssee calm down. You're sssstressssssing yourssssselfff out too much. Whatssss wrong? Pleasssse tell me. Did he ssssay sssssomething that upsssset you?" Luce asked, completely ignoring the fact that he had been caught snooping. That was the least of his problems now. Diego barely took notice to the snake's threatening hisses; he was a giant cat, one of the more feared predators in the world. What could a snake do to him? Vincent was concentrated on Kat; she looked like a train wreck but he couldn't figure out why. Was it because of the snake? Let it go. He snapped at his panther. The beast snarled lowly at him, but complied just as the snake went for it's escape to Kat. You're no fun.
Vincent ignored the cat's whining. He watched silently as the snake hissed at him, then clamored up Kat's body, looked her in the face, and nuzzled her cheeks. It was uncannily human like. How peculiar... He mused, though he was quickly ripped out of his thoughts by Kat's sniffling. Then, she seemed almost as if she were frightened by something. He was becoming so confused by her emotional responses, it was starting to drive him mad. He opened his mouth to say something, but no words came to mind. Rubbing the back of his head, he simply stared at the strange scene, at a complete loss of what to do. What could he do? He didn't even know what was so wrong in the first place...
She didn't feel well...she was tired...what was wrong with this girl. He blinked, his crimson eyes looking like an endless black hole of bewilderment. "Kat...please..." He began, but she was already running away from him up the stairs. He frowned, standing at the base of the staircase, looking after her retreating form.
What the hell did you do to her? Diego spoke, he too staring after the strange girl. His muzzle was slightly agape. Vincent snarled at him before he stalked off. What on earth did he do? He shook his head as his thoughts did nothing to help him. He needed to clear his head before he could do anything; this afternoon had been anything but perfect.
((Hi. Sorry it's short my sweet. I'm not in the best of moods today but I wanted to post since I haven't for awhile and I had the time today nd give you something to do =] The next one will be better, I promise.))

I don't know if you can hear me where ever you are, but just know I need you now more then ever d a d d y. ღ_____ I'm starting to wonder what my true {p u r p o s e} is;; I shouldn't have been the one that lived. I'm not worthy. Luce's words echoed within Katarinia's mind, bouncing off the many other thoughts within her severely crowded mind. Her eyes remained closed as she took in long, deep breaths. She had to calm down, she had to suppress her emotions before they got out of control. She had to stop the empathy from causing her any more damage. If she was found out by Vince, oh she would be in so much trouble! He would most definitely hate her oh so much for lying to him. He would never ever forgive her nor would he ever be her friend again. Not to mention he would then be in even more danger then he already was, and that was something Kat did not want to happen. He could never find out what she really is. He could never know of her purpose or her true past. She had to keep him in the dark about everything and it was killing her. Oh she felt so utterly terrible about it and that was the very thing causing her all of these problems. All of these emotions and feelings. She had to stop! A frustrated growl emerged from her lips at herself as she slid down against the door, her little legs wanting to give out beneath her. She leaned her head back against the cool door, eyes opening so she could stare up at the ceiling. She lifted one of her slender hands to wipe away the moon-silver tears off of her face. She had to stop crying. Oh what a baby she was! She had never cried so easily in front of someone, and over something she had caused. It was something that could be so easily avoided. She gently hit her head against the door in pure frustration at herself. She went to do it again but a warning hiss from Luce stopped her. She lowered her eyes to the snake's beady black eyes and she took in a breath. He looked at her ever so concerned, worry in those black orbs of his.
"Oh Luce..." she said softly, sniffles emerging from her as she spoke in her gently wavering voice. She lifted a hand and gently ran her fingers over his smooth scales. "You were definitely right. I'm getting myself into a mess that I can't handle. I'm putting him into danger. I'm letting my silly want for friends get into the way of his safety. I'm being so selfish." she said softly, the amount of guilt in her voice was unbearable. She sounded like she was blaming herself for the very death of her father or something. She was so upset over something so little, something that shouldn't be so emotionally influential. It was one simple question. But it was a question that had raised sour and sad feelings within Vince. Something she had not ever wanted to do. And in that, she found herself more then furious at herself. Having been lost in her thoughts, she was of little use to stopping her own wounds. And so, Luce found himself in a hurry to help his friend. He uncoiled himself from her body and slowly tugged at the newly bloodied bandages, removing them from her body with an ease. Luckily there were only two of them, and they weren't too bad. With a frustrated hiss at Kat's guilt, he moved the bloodied bandages to the trash can, slithering about the floor very quickly. He went into her bag and he grabbed a bit of gauze. It wasn't near the high quality of Vince's gauze, and the difference could be told between the two right away, but he paid little mind to it. He pulled at it, having Jack help him out by holding the roll. When he let out a hiss, Jack would tighten on it, and Luce would jerk, ripping the gauze at the correct length. He would then wrap it around the two wounds, again with Jack's help. The two worked quickly, and with an ease that showed they had done this many times before.
Soon, the wounds were wrapped neatly, but they were not done as perfectly as Vince's bandages. He was definitely skilled. And then Luce wrapped himself around Kat's leg wound, tightening himself so pressure was put onto the wound. It was the perfect way to stop her bleeding, and soon both wounds were no longer bleeding. The gauze had again become stained, but not as noticeable as before. Luce then worked on trying to get Kat back into the correct state of mind. He curled himself around her shoulders again, and placed his head against one of her cheeks, gentle hissing noises emerging from the caring snake. His hisses sounded more like he was whispering sweet nothings into her ears. There was just something he could do to try and get her mind off of everything else. He knew how troublesome her empathy got at times and he knew how much she struggled to deal with it. He continued this for a short while, and soon Jack joined in. Jack hugged Kat's hands together, keeping them warm and offering comfort at the same time. He was worried about Kat. And so, after a bit of Kat's condition not improving much, the little monkey decided to take action. He got Luce to help him by having Luce turn the door knob and pull it open just enough to let Jack out. And then Luce closed the door. The monkey quickly scampered down the stairs. It had been a good hour since Kat ran up, and he figured that the only one to pull Kat out of this coma, was the one who had caused it. The monkey wandered about just a little, knowing that he was not to snoop, especially since Kat had scolded him. And so, he didn't peek, and he didn't allow himself to grow curious. Soon he found Vince in one of the random rooms that the monkey wouldn't have been able to understand even if he wanted.
He scampered over to Vince innocently, showing he was there to see Vince, and not to snoop. He scaled up Vince again, getting the young man's attention. Vince still seemed frazzled over all that had happened and Jack didn't blame him. He let out a squeak, and hopped down. Grabbing onto Vince's pant leg and tugging, he showed he wanted Vince to follow. And then, the monkey scampered off, making sure Vince kept up. Every now and then he would give a concerned squeak and then move a bit quicker to show Vince that he was in a hurry. Soon, they were making their way up the stairs, and the monkey stopped outside of the door. He knocked on it ever so lightly, letting out a squeak. Again, the door knob was turned, by Luce who had already moved Kat. Luce had her propped up against one of the walls, so he was no longer in the way of the door. He fell down off of the door knob, and then slithered out of the way so the door could be opened without him being run over. He slithered under the bed, into the darkness where he would not be seen, and he watched in silence. Jack pushed the heavy door open, and gestured for Vince to again follow, before he scampered in. He scampered right to Kat, and sat up on her shoulder, patting her head. He squeaked softly, his voice showing his concern as he looked to Vince with hopeful eyes. Humans were to comfort others. And Vince would surely do that, right? He tilted Kat's head up slightly to show the tears trickling down her face. Her eyes were closed again, and her breathing was slow. She looked tormented, utterly bombarded with guilt. Jack then scampered back over to Vince, stopping a few feet in front of him.
Jack stood tall and pointed to Kat. Signaling that he wanted Vince to go over to Kat. He then hugged himself, and make squeaking noises as if he were to speak. He wanted Vince to comfort Kat. He again, pointed to Kat. He was making it very clear that Kat wasn't okay. He then closed the door, so Vince could not leave, and then he scampered up to the bed, perching on one of the four bed posts. He propped himself up, and watched Vince carefully, as if he were going to judge how well Vince did at this comforting thing.

Vincent was wallowing in his own turmoil and confusion, completely oblivious to Kat's peril upstairs. He desperately needed to clear his head, but for some reason, he found he couldn't. It frustrated him even more than he already was. He walked through an open door into a fancy room filled with bookcases of books, a small desk, some large lounge chairs, a fireplace, and a grand piano. It was one of the many antiquish-looking common studies that adorned his mansion. Sighing heavily, he placed his fingertips delicately on the hood of the piano, tracing the sleek black exterior as he walked around to the seat. He placed one finger down upon one of the white keys. A single note radiated through the silent room; he curled his lip up in a snarl.
Usually, playing the piano would bring him peace. He was rather skilled at it and playing music helped him rid himself of his feeling and befuddled thoughts, but now...he didn't feel like playing. He walked across the room to one of the white lounge chairs and sunk into the seat. What was he to do with this girl? Her emotional reactions were like atomic bombs going off all over the place. He just didn't know how to handle it. Being one to suppress and ignore his emotions, he was certainly not equipped to deal with such a person. His hand found it's way to his forehead, trying to press the growing headache he was getting out of his head. What was worse, every second she stayed was more time she was in danger. What if her ability to block his curse wore off? What if, at any given second, everything would change and he'd end up killing her? The thought sickened him. In the short time he'd known her, he had already decided her death could not happen, and certainly not by his hand. It would surely break whatever was left of his soul and sanity.
He'd have to talk to her. The only way his head would calm was if he figured out what happened and fixed it. And he had to tell her to leave...it was better that way. A hard scowl crossed his face. He wasn't looking forward to this. Just when he was going to get up, he heard the faintest sound, like airy smoke creeping under a door. The scowl he had deepened to a look of extreme distaste and rage. At the single dome shaped window of the room, a mass started to form. At first, it was transparent and fog like, but it darkened in color, and became more dense until it was a solid form. It was a "visitor", one Vince was not thrilled to see. A scrawny little gremlin by the name of Tulu. He was a messenger of their 'god'. Vince's fangs elongated and protruded from under his snarling lips. "What are you doing here, Tulu?" he snapped.
The little gremlin, grinning with his jagged smile, climbed off the windowsill and walked into the room on all fours. "Just stopping in to see my favorite damnee" the creature said callously, laughing manically after. Vincent just continued to snarl, causing the beast's smile to fall of its face. "Oh come now! Don't be so hostile...I'm just the messenger after all." it said, mocking hurt.
Vincent just rolled his eyes and glanced toward the door to make sure no one was coming. "Tell me what you want now and then get out." he spat, still keeping his eyes on the door. Tulu followed Vince's gaze and a wicked smile crossed his face. It hopped toward the door and placed it's clawed hands against the molding for the door. "Ahhh yes...you have a visitor. Haven't you told her what a monster you really are? Shouldn't she know the danger you put her in?" It asked, turning it's head so it could look at Vincent. The expression on his face - anger, horror, sorrow, guilt - made the gremlin tickled pink with amusement. "There there..." it continued, steeping away from the door, "I'm sure she'll understand, accept you with open arms. Or, you could just make it easy on yourself and just-"
"Say another word and I'll rip your throat out!" Vince pipped in, bloody murder flaring in his eyes as he leaped out of his seat. The creature had gotten wise and not finished it's sentence. Vincent glanced out the door and saw the little monkey Jack rounding the corner. "Get out now. Come back later tonight if you truly must. But now is no longer the time." He said, throwing the gremlin a death glare as his fangs returned to normal looking teeth. It bowed it's head mockingly to him and disappeared the same way it had appeared, just before Jack made it through the door. Vincent stared at the little monkey as it scampered about, tugged his pant leg, and ran into the other room. Apparently, Vince wasn't the only one who wanted him to speak with Kat. He followed Jack through his mansion, and up the stairs to Kat's room.
He thought it was strange the door had opened on it's own, but quickly forgot about it as Jack opened the door wide and showed Kat to him. She looked worse than she had been before; he could plainly see the tears streaming down her cheeks now and she looked as if she'd been crying for quite awhile. Immediately, he was struck with a small pang of guilt. Was all this really his fault? His ugliness never seemed to disappoint him...
His attention was brought to the monkey again as it hugged itself and scampered back and forth between him and Kat. When it had finally stopped and found its perch, Vincent's gaze returned to Kat. He stared at her for a moment before he hesitantly walked over to the bed. Slowly, he sat down beside Kat and looked at her; she was avoiding his eye contact again. Frowning, he said "Kat...what's wrong? Please tell me what I did to cause a lovely angel like you such pain.". His voice was soft, and he sounded almost pleading. Tentatively, he brought his right hand up and delicately placed it under her chin. He then gently pushed her chin up and pulled it in his direction, forcing her to look at him. She didn't die again, and that was a relief. But those tears...he hated them. Frowning, he brought his free hand up and wiped away a large drop from her upper cheek that was threatening to stain the rest of her face. "Why are you crying? He whispered, almost as if he were afraid of the answer.

I don't know if you can hear me where ever you are, but just know I need you now more then ever d a d d y. ღ_____ I'm starting to wonder what my true {p u r p o s e} is;; I shouldn't have been the one that lived. I'm not worthy. It was around the time that Luce's thin body had fallen off of the doorknob that Kat was beginning to come to her senses again. Her emotional trance was fading and she was beginning to notice what was going on around her. The sound of the door opening alarmed her, but she didn't make any motion to look up or to turn her head. She knew it was Vince. There was no one else that it could have possibly been. After all, they were the only two in the house with the exception of Jack and Luce and Kat figured that both of her companions were within the room. Had she actually realized that Jack had snuck out, and with the assistance of Luce, she would have most likely looked to see who it was in hopes of it being Jack. Not that she didn't want to see Vince, but she was quite fearful of what he may think of her at that point in time. A deep breath emerged from her as she heard the footsteps stop for a moment. Squeaks emerged along with the pitter-patter of smaller footsteps which she registered as being Jack's. He was probably telling Vince to do something, alarmed of her state. She didn't look. She didn't want to look. She couldn't bring herself to look into those ever charming eyes of Vince. She couldn't bare to even try and comprehend what he thought of her. She was sure he hated her. Absolutely positive that he couldn't stand her and wished for her to leave as quickly as possible. Perhaps he had come to tell her to leave now. Oh, such a thought tore her up. How would she actually react if he had told her to do such a thing? She would of course leave as he had wished...Of course she would. She wouldn't put up any arguments against it. She wouldn't try to defend herself. She was an awful person. A horrid creature. Not even a creature. No. She was a monster. One not worthy of living. She shuddered slightly, eyes shutting ever so tightly as she heard him approach her again. She could feel his presence just nearing her. Coming closer and closer with every long strided step he took.
He sat down next to her. His arm slightly brushing up against her. Emotions rushed into her. She couldn't even decipher them. They just disappeared far too quickly for her to read them in the state that she was in. But she did pick up a faint bit of concern. But it was probably about the few drops of blood that was on the floor from her leg. He was probably worried that it would stain the wood or something. Which wouldn't happen of course, but still. There was no way he was actually worried about her. There was no way he could actually care after how horrid she had been to him. A few moments of silence lingered and Kat avoided eye contact the whole time. She simply looked down, trying so hard to actually feel invisible for once. But she knew that she wasn't. She could feel his eyes on her. Watching her. Oh how she wished to simply shrink away and hide. Finally, the silence was broken by his sweet voice. He asked her what was wrong. He asked her what he had done to make an angel like her cry. She paused. She ran through what he had said several times before confirming he had actually referred to her as an angel. Did he really think a monster like her could be an angel? Did he really think of her so highly? Was is possible that he didn't completely hate her after what she had done? All these possibilities raced through her mind, blocking out all other thoughts. It was in those few moments that Vince reached out and touched her. She was shocked at the sudden contact when she realized what was going on. He turned her head to him, and by that time it was too late to jerk away. Her eyes met with his and Kat found herself unable to look away. She couldn't pull away. The sadness and guilt in her eyes tore her apart. Her insides churned and she felt so awful. Had she caused him such sour emotions? And yet there he sat, trying to figure out what was wrong with her, trying to comfort her. He was actually trying to help her, even after she had made such a thoughtless, foolish mistake.
The emotions swimming in his eyes were not helping lessen Kat's guilt. He reached up one of his long, slender hands and brushed away one of her moon-silver tears, about ready to make it's decent down her cheek. Her eyes closed for a moment, and she took in a breath, calming herself. Why was he so concerned about her? He should hate her after such a foolish mistake. Yet he obviously didn't. Kat wasn't sure to feel good that he didn't hate her, or to feel bad that she had hurt such a forgiving person. Her emotions were so mixed up, so utterly thrown about. She didn't know what to think. She didn't know what to do. She didn't know what to say or how to say it. She was so flustered. She hadn't been so flustered in a long time. It confused her to think of how he could get her so emotionally confused so easily. He just threw her off completely. His question rose another pang of guilt within Kat. She outwardly cringed a little, not even wanting to think of what she had done. But the desperation in his voice. The hints of fear... They just ate her up and she knew that she would have to answer, even if she didn't want to answer. A gentle sigh escaped her lips as she reached up and wiped away the remainder of her tears. Sniffling, she tried to compose herself as much as she possibly could. Her eyes opened, and she stared into his for a few moments. She was building up the strength to speak. It took a few moments, and then, her rose pink lips parted and her voice sounded out ever so softly. "I feel so awful..." she croaked, her voice cracking under the emotional pressure. She looked away again, eyes dropping as she stared at the floor. "I should have known better then to meddle into your business.. I asked a stupid question... One that had caused you to feel bad. I had never intended such a thing. I meant no harm. I had simply assumed someone as kind as you could not ever be alone. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want to be by you. You're so nice..." she paused, only to take in another deep breath.
Her eyes rose back up to his and she struggled to keep her composure. Several tears threatened to spill over. "It's just...I know the pain of losing family. And I know how badly it hurts. I had wanted to cause you any pain by asking such an intrusive question. I guess I just feel foolish...Naive. I should have known better. I probably should have thought my question out. I'm just....I....I'm so sorry." she said, sniffling again, as two more tears fell, slowly making their way down her cheeks before being briskly swiped away by her own hands. It felt better to get her guilt off of her chest, and she found her emotional stability slowly coming back. She no longer felt as worthless and vulnerable. Ah, what wonders simply expressing one's emotions verbally could do. She took in a breath, and gently pulled away from him just so she could fix her hair and try to compose herself completely. She was sure she looked like a complete and total mess after such an awful crying period. She just had to get a hold of herself. She had to get in control of her emotions. She just had to. She took in another deep breath, and she felt the intensity of her emotions begin to fade away. Her lips parted and she went to say something, but she was interrupted by a loud crack of thunder. She jumped slightly, and looked out the window just in time to see a flash of lightning dance across the darkened sky. It was raining... She would have known it was going to rain had she actually been paying attention to the things around her. She took in a breath, unconsciously rubbing her leg where the wound had reopened. It was simply a nervous habit. One she never noticed while doing it. She looked back to Vince and struggled to offer him a slight smile.
"I...I don't mean to be a burden." she said softly, her voice barely a whisper. "It just seems that through out my time of being here, all I've done is cause you trouble." she said softly, shame filling her voice. "It really isn't your responsibility to take care of me. And I don't expect you to... You have no idea how much I appreciate all you've done for me..." she said nodding. She took in a breath and plucked the flower out of his hair. He had probably forgotten about it. It had begun to droop. The life had started to fade from it. Though, it did seem to regain some pigment when she held it. It was almost as if she brought it back to life. She stared down at it, not having noticed the brilliance return to the flower. She set the flower down and took in a rather deep breath, returning her gaze to him. A little bit of a smile formed upon her lips. She couldn't really stay upset around him. She looked away again. "Well. Thank you for not hating me for asking such a stupid question. I'm really not that thoughtless most of the time. I just.. I wasn't thinking when I should have been." she said softly. "You're a really great person, Vince. The kindest I've met in a real long time. I'm really glad I stumbled onto your doorstep..." She smiled brighter at him and gave a nod. Well, at least things were lightening up. The C l u e l e s s AssassinI don't k n o w how I should f e e l

Vincent Alverus Synfly Don't come too close... When Vincent looked into her eyes, it took his breath away. The pain and the guilt he saw in them were overbearing. It was as if someone took a bat to his stomach; he felt sick at seeing how depressed she looked. It made him angry, too…angry and whoever had made her so sad. Angry at himself, since he was the obvious culprit. But as all his emotions, they couldn’t break the surface of his face; his face remained still, only with a hint of strain etched in his features. When she closed her eyes, the spell was broken a little. She seemed to be trying to calm herself, and he continued to hold his breath. Then, she cringed and his worry and anger toppled over again. It was pure agony for him to watch her like this…he’d never dealt with someone so emotional before. And certainly not one who he could touch. The sheer fact that he could hold her made him feel so attached to her…so protective of her. When she sighed, and reached up to wipe her face off, he finally let his hand fall from her chin…reluctantly. He was finding he rather enjoyed being able to touch her. It gave him hope of being able to get close to her; it was something he never had, except with the demons of his nightmares. Her eyes transfixed him again when she opened them; the sea of sadness almost drowned him. But then she spoke, and the hurt in her gentle voice made the spot where his heart should have been ache. He listened to her silently, his blood red eyes never leaving her. He was shocked to find what she was so upset about.
A question…that was all it was. A simple question she had not known the answer to. And she was distraught over it. What was wrong with this girl?! Normal people did not get this worked up over making someone else upset…it baffled him to his core, so much so that his shock actually showed on his face slightly. His eyes grew slightly wider, and his mouth fell open a little bit. Then, she called him nice again, and his face lost the shocked edge. He wished she’d stop calling him that; he hated fooling such a sweet girl so. She looked back into his face then, and he could see the massive wall of tears pent up in her eyes; it made them look glossy…it made them look like the actual ocean. Then, she told him of how she knew the pain of losing a family, and he remembered the old couple she’d mentioned before…her grandparents. It was then that he realized she had never mentioned anything about her parents. He silently wondered why that was, though now was hardly the time to ask. She went on, apologizing to him again as a few tears spilled over her now rosy cheeks. He didn’t move as she pulled away from him to straighten herself out; he hadn’t moved much the whole time. He was entirely too cautious around her, still fearing that any movement might hurt her somehow. The fear was from both her wounds and his curse. But, he found a budding hysteria growing in him as the absurdity of her sadness came back to him. She shouldn’t have been so upset over something so small…and especially not over him; he didn’t deserve it. He was about to tell her of her silliness when a loud crack of thunder interrupted their whole exchange, and he watched her jump. A smile toyed at his lips as she looked to the window; she was cute when she was startled…like a pretty doe caught in the headlights of a car. He was so busy staring at her face, he didn’t notice her rubbing her leg rather roughly. He could hear the rain pitter-pattering on the window, and it was getting harder by the minute. This was going to be quite a storm…
Her voice pulled him back to her instantly. She called herself a burden. How could she think that? he thought, astounded. She was the farthest thing from a burden; she was a miracle. For the second time, he went to scold her and was stopped. This time, it was by her pulling the flower out of his hair. He stared at it dumbly with a blank expression on his face for a moment, before his look changed to slightly annoyed. He’d forgotten all about the flower, and was immediately put off that he’d had it in his hair so long. As he watched it, he noticed it seemed to liven a bit, growing some color back and lifting a little as if it were fighting death. The craziest idea struck him then; he thought that maybe Kat was the source of it’s sudden spurt of life. But that was preposterous, wasn’t it? She was just a human after all…He looked back to her face. Humans don’t recover so quickly though…or look so beautiful he thought distantly. But he didn’t want to believe she wasn’t human. He could touch her…and he wanted to keep her. But, he could touch her…a human would die. The signs were starting to become too obvious to him. One thing he knew though, was that she wasn’t a demon. And as long as she wasn’t that, he’d accept whatever she was. The only thing he could think of was that she was an angel. Could she be an angel sent to save him? You’d never be so lucky… he thought darkly. He was probably just being paranoid; he probably just saw her beauty reflecting on the flower and thought it had regained some life. It wasn’t like him to doubt himself though, and it unnerved him. But she was starting to speak again, and he involuntarily pushed all thoughts of what she was and his doubt out of his head; her voice was too sweet to ignore.
She thanked him for not hating her, like he ever could. And called him a great person again. Then she said she was happy she stumbled on his door step, and finally the chuckle he’d been suppressing escaped his lip. Once it erupted, he started laughing more than he expected to. At her expression, he quickly composed himself and with a shake of his head, he looked at her. A smile was still on his face. ”That last part is the only part we agree on. You have no idea how absurdly wrong you are about everything. You are not a burden to me. As you can see, I’ve been alone for a long time now, and I must say it’s nice to have the company. So please, never think you’re a trouble for me. You are welcome here, I can assure you. You could have never known that my life has been so terrible and it’s foolish of you to be so upset about something that was never your fault. You’re not responsible for my terrible past, so please do not feel the need to feel so guilty about asking a simple question.” he said to her softly. ”Maybe you are naïve…but it’s hardly something I’m upset about. You’re the sweetest person I’ve ever had the pleasure to stumble upon, and well…” he paused for a moment, looking down at the space between them. Feeling a sudden need, and a lapse in self restrain, he reached for her hand and clasped it gently in his. ”I can only guess you’re an angel by your pure kindness and stunning beauty.” he finished quietly. His crimson eyes flicked back to her face and he flashed her a charming smile. His usual charm and smoothness finally seemed to be back on track. Though he had no idea how he’d accomplished it so calmly this time, because on the insides his gut was screaming at him with a boiling nervousness and panic....I might just rip your heart out and tear it to shreds

Katarinia ||Isabelle || Corbane----
I don't know if you can hear me where ever you are, but just know I need you now more then ever d a d d y. ღ_____ I'm starting to wonder what my true {p u r p o s e} is;; I shouldn't have been the one that lived. I'm not worthy. As Kat fell silent, she gazed upon Vincent with worried eyes, scared of his reaction. The first thing he did to break the silence was chuckle, and soon that chuckle turned into a laugh. Kat wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. She was kind of scared he was laughing at her for being so silly, for being so glad that she'd met him. She was almost sure he was making fun of her, and yet she knew there was too much kindness in his heart for him to do such a thing. He shook his head, regaining his composure with an ease that she admired greatly. His smile remained though, and Kat smiled back. She couldn't help but to smile when he smiled. He had the most perfect smile in the world. It was so charming, so utterly amazing that she felt like simply melting every time he did grace her with a smile, no matter how small it was. She couldn't take her eyes off of him, and she was getting dangerously attached to him. She was starting to question the importance of her leaving. She was starting to question leaving him. She really, really didn't want to. He was beginning to pull on her heartstrings, and she knew it. Every single thing he did, she absorbed like a sponge, and yet she couldn't do anything to stop it... She didn't even really want to. She held her breath as she watched his lips part. He was going to speak, and so she prepared herself for whatever it was he was going to say. Yet, no matter how much she prepared herself, she would never be ready to hear what he actually had to say. And it threw her off completely, something he seemed to have a pretty good knack for doing.
He said that the last part was the only part they agreed on. He said she was wrong for thinking of herself as a burden. He said he had been alone for a long time and that he was happy to have her company. Oh how special that made her feel. She could feel a slight blush gracing her cheeks at that. She looked down a little, but had to look right back up at him as she continued. She couldn't look away for long. He was so beautiful, so charming. It took effort to meet those deep red eyes of his. He was tearing down her barriers, and he was doing it with a terrifying ease. He continued to insist that it wasn't her fault for asking such a question. And as he continued, she could feel the guilt lift of her shoulders. Was he really that forgiving? She tilted her head ever so slightly, in that curious puppy kind of way. He reassured her that she was welcome there. He mentioned she was not responsible for his terrible past. She still felt bad though. Someone like him didn't deserve any of the cruel things that had happened to him. She just couldn't understand it. What kind of cruel being would put such a lovely person through such a thing? He said that perhaps she was indeed naive, but it wasn't something he was upset about. He continued with saying that she had been the sweetest person he had ever had the pleasure to stumble upon. Oh, there he went making her blush and feel all special again.
He paused for a moment, and looked down at the space between them. And then, rather unexpectedly, he reached out and took one of her hands, grasping it in one of his. His hands were so strong, yet so gentle. They were warm, and they were smooth. There was something within his grasp, something that made her feel so safe and secure. It comforted her and made her feel so happy. He spoke again, calling her an angel for the second time, and in a way that made her already rosy cheeks get even redder. Her smile broke through and shined every so brightly. He flashed her a charming smile, and she let out a slight giggle. He just made her so nervous. She was even shaking a little. Her tears dried up rather quickly, and she was quickly regaining her brightness, her vibrancy. She took a few moments to try and regain her thoughts, to try and straighten out all the craziness within her head. She took in a few breaths, breaking their eye contact again, but for only a few seconds. Her eyes returned to his as quickly as she could. She felt so silly, getting so red over such a little thing. But she just couldn't help it. She swiped some of her stray strands of hair from her face with her free hand, struggling with what she wanted to say, what she wanted to do, just everything. He threw her off completely and she had no idea how to deal with it. And so she decided to simply listen to her instincts.
Her hand released his and she simply took hold of his face in his gentle hands. She kissed him ever so gently upon the forehead, before wrapping her arms around him, and hugging him as closely as she possibly could. Her heart was racing, which she was sure he would notice because she could feel it. It was so powerful that she could almost swear she felt his beating just as fast in his own chest. She didn't realize her heartbeat was simply creating the illusion that he had one too. She didn't even notice that he didn't have a heart beat, and she probably wouldn't unless she actually tried to listen for it. She took in a breath, her lungs filling with his scent. He was just so sweet. She smiled faintly, her mind was racing, her thoughts jumbled up to the point of where she couldn't tell what she was thinking. "I was so scared that you would hate me..." she said softly, very happy that he didn't. "I thought you would think of me as some sort of monster...Some sort of awful person for asking such a thoughtless question. Thank you so much for being as understanding as you are. You're so kind... And you call me the angel." she paused as another crack of thunder radiated throughout the house. Her entire body tremored with it, as she let out a soft shudder. With every booming crack, she was reminded of her father's desperate call for her to run. It was fierce, it was terrifying, and it was awful. It scared her, shook her to the core, and she couldn't help but to shudder.
Luce was under the bed, listening to everything, and gazing at them from the darkness of the shadows. Kat was getting dangerously close to this young man. He could see it in her eyes, in how she hugged him. She was growing attached and it was worrying him. He wouldn't do anything tonight though, feeling as if poor Kat had been put through enough for the time being. Kat held onto Vincent for the longest of times, almost scared to let go, but she finally did, not wanting to be clingy or anything. She gave an embarrassed smile as she looked down, feeling just a tad foolish at her behavior. "I'm sorry for being so emotional... I'm normally not this much of a cry baby." she said softly, laughing at herself just a tad bit. She was being a little silly about everything, and that only added her embarrassment. She looked at him, lifting one hand to tenderly swipe away a few strands of hair from his flawless face. "I just haven't met someone like you, ever. You're the sweetest, kindest person I have ever met. And don't even think about denying it. Not everyone would allow a total stranger into their home, and take care of them. You save my life... And you've showed me kindness where others would not. It makes going through what I had to get here, completely worth it." she said nodding. Her sincerity was as clear as crystalline glass, and that was obvious jsut in the way she spoke, the way her eyes glittered with the few tears left over, and in the way her smile sparkled. And she concluded with one last thing.
"I don't understand why anyone would allow such a kind person to be alone for so long... But I am so, so glad that I am the one who gets the pleasure of your company. It is truly a blessing..." she said smiling. The C l u e l e s s AssassinI don't k n o w how I should f e e l
