Chieftain Twilight

Nodding her head in a sharp jerk, Z's finger twitched and she almost shot as Twi disappeared. Taking a soothing breath, the hybrid moved away from the vomit and crouched upwind, huddling in her jacket with her violet eyes pretty much the only thing showing as it started to rain. Making a quick jaunt through the town, Z moved upwind from the vomit as the rainstorm continued on, not wanting to be on that roof when someone found it on the street below...

The next morning, there was a sound of alarm, the building completely fine as if nothing happened, but a pencil was shoved through the desk with a note saying the blood needed to go back to the bank for deserving people, the police in the station searching through the known vampire community about where the 'donated'...meaning for their use...bag came from. Twilight would probably hear of it, and it would raise interesting questions in his mind...and perhaps a few answers.

sure enough, the news did reach the Elf. he was avid about watching Gaia 9 Action News... he growled in anger as he clicked the TV off.

he went to bed, knowing that his evening would ******** suck when he awoke again. he thought about whether he even wanted to go out later. but he knew he had to confront her again, and besides... he hated being cooped up inside.

when Twi rose in the late afternoon, he spent the rest of the day thinking about what he would do about the note. surely, the cops would have to come to his mansion last, seeing as he always wore gloves; no fingerprints. but what if they thought of that and went to him first? the panic had him pacing furiously while Eustice and Ethel watched him in amusement and worry.

"AH-HAH!" he exclaimed loudly. "that's it! I'll play the same game that she does!"

and with that, he rushed to his study to write his letter.

dear mysterious woman, who's fingerprints are the only ones on that I.V. pack, by the way,

your attempts to stir up racist trouble in the community of Durem must be put to an end. we will not sit idly by while your one-man army of evil tricks places blame on innocent Vampires.

I'll have you know that the blood in those I.V. packs is donated specifically for the use of Vampire feeding by willing donors who know full-well what they are doing. police may be scared now because of your little antics, but they will quickly find no leads at all. nice try, though.

we can discuss this more later. we will contact you with details on how to meet with us. signed, you know who.

with that, he stood up and proof-read the letter, smiling. he was satisfied.

he told the kids he'd be back later, and then rushed out the door to Durem. cops were everywhere, in their suits of armour. but he cast a spell of obfuscation. not a complete invisibility, but enough to avert attention from him. it was all he needed, after all.

he passed around a few corners, coming to the spot where he met her last night. there, he pinned the message.

Chieftain Twilight

Z was finding it hard to stay awake in the draining sun, on the clock tower so high from ordinary eyes. Something about the light forcing vampires to rest, dead again as they should stay, worked on Z too and made it hard for her to stay vigilant as the town below awoke. Especially the police, men in rattling suits of armor waking her up from a forced few hours of sleep. Holding back a grumpy moan, glaring...safely from under her wide-brimmed hat...at the sun as she moved to a shadier spot, Z just kept to herself, waiting for nighttime so she could be spared the day's harsh reality on her metabolism. Yawning, Z debated if it would be worth the move to go where the shadow WOULD be, and fall asleep again, or to try to stay up and risk being left in the sun for too long... Carefully peering around, the hybrid made her decision, waking at sunset to blink with dry and dark amusement as a shadowy figure on the roof where she'd been last night did something to the spire. Shrugging, Z dozed a bit, senses alert as she started recovering her energy, the search done for the night... Feeling recovered, Z stretched as she stood, hopping from rooftop to rooftop to patrol the town, maybe pick up some clues about this "Gaia" place that damned vampire with long ears mentioned. She even checked the note, snorting and leaving it with a smirk as she rubbed her gloved fingers. "Whatever, idiot," Z muttered, returning to the clocktower to try to recover some sleep, tired beyond all normal reason from staying up during the day. And she'd be able to wake enough to find shadows to sleep in, not needing TOO much sleep since she didn't dream. Gun with safety off, so if alerted the hybrid wouldn't make any sound snapping it into place to shoot, Z drifted off...

A scuff, a sigh, and Z's eyes flashed open. Someone was there, someone on the other side of the roof unable to see where she was right against the square base of the spire, curled up in shadow, invisible. The gun silently raised from the roof, Z closing her eyes, and LISTENING... There, another sound of movement, her hearing automatically slightly amplified thanks to practice blindfolded, until it naturally rose with her eyes closed. She rolled around the corner, gun aimed and...

Twi had spent the whole night searching for the woman, after he finished posting his note. he had travelled all over the town, looke din all the bars, and even peered through the windows of churches. eventually he gave up and went to the portal to his perch on teh clocktower.

BANG!

the moment he came out to the other side of the clock itself, he felt a sharp blast in his knee.

"GAYH -- GODS DAMN!! GYAH! THERE YOU ARE! OUCH!"

Chieftain Twilight

The instant the first shot was fire, Z was standing, moving off the to side of any counterattacks. Balancing easily, gun still aimed at what was now obviously the long-eared vampire from before, Z scowled and lowered the weapon, striding forward to aim a blurred shot to his throat. It would barely touch, just enough force to numb his voicebox so Twi couldn't yell anymore. And neither her eyes, nor her face, changed as she let the blow fly. "I should shoot you again for taking the Lord's name in vain," she growled, the gun actually coming up to aim towards Twi, before she jammed it angrily into its holster. "What do you want, and for Heaven's sake stay quiet and don't whine, I didn't hurt you, your throat will be fine," she grumbled, tone still oddly entrancing and enchanting even as she tried to ruin it with her angry rasping. Sitting down close to the edge of the roof, hands at the back of her neck...and away from her weapons...Z waited, eyes calm and face showing no emotion whatsoever.

he pointed at his face and rasped out "VAMPIRE!" as if that explained his explatives.

clutching his knee with one hand and his throat with the other, his cane fell to his feet.

"I just wanted to talk. sheesh..."

Z gave a disgusted snort, huffing an impatient breath. "I know you're a vampire," she snapped, tone irritated. "Told you last night, I'm suspicious of everything with fangs," she practically growled, her own teeth noticeably sharper and in a dainty way longer than a humans, but nothing that would overly inconvenience trying to close her mouth. As proven as Z tightly pursed her lips, letting her glare speak for itself, eyes flicking and narrowing to the cane. He was obviously okay, yet carried a cane... Z scooted back a bit farther away from Twi, at this point pretty much assuming he had a myriad of hidden weapons, especially after his loud exclamation and cussing. Just staring silently at Twi, waiting for him to 'talk' like he said he wanted to do, it would give the undead Elf a good chance to take a look at Z.

Hands behind her head, moved the long slightly obscuring bangs from her face to show an almost delicately pointed face with a sharp nose and chin, ruined by a rounder jaw currently thrust out in rebellion, slightly tilted eyes dangerously challenging over the almost perky upwards nose. She seemed young, her attitude and hiding her face before perhaps making Z seem older, although she looked...at most...17. A child, undead, with the anger and bitter hatred of an adult. And her body, revealed by her angle and opened coat showing more of her weapons and gear, was slender, almost...delicate, fairy-like with its small build and thinness. A child vampire, monster, with plenty of attitude and issues that would destroy most adults... Whatever could have made someone so young, so bitter, so old and weary of the world? Part of the answer would perhaps be given as the silver cross at her throat almost over the tight breasts full-formed but small gleamed in the night, like the pale alabaster skin revealed from her current pose.

the Elf, just as young in body, removed the hand from his knee to reach for an I.V. pack which he drank like a CapriSun. after he drained it empty, with loud slurping sounds at the end, he chucked it and licked his lips.

"much better. now! it is clear to me that you hate my kind. that's fine, I get that alot. especially from other Elves. but whatever your opinion of Vampire kind, you obviously have to get used to the fact that you are one. I think... and besides, you need to be careful about who you fool around with. I'm not one to take kindly to threats."

he reached for his cane, but stayed back at a distance.

"look, I'm not going to hurt anyone... but there are some Vampires out here who are dangerous... one Zhivago is a mean bugger. murdered a notable billionaire and is now after the man's son. he has also been part of a plot to kill off Gaia's demigods... he has no care at all for human life."

Sighing, the hybrid seemed impatient with Twi, shaking her head slowly and curling a lip in disgust even as her eyes were glued to the bag of blood. Wincing as he tossed it away and shuddering as he licked his lips, Z returned her gaze to his eyes with a hard expression, narrowing her own. "I only shot out your knee, barely touched your throat, how is that threatening you? Someone snuck up on me, I acted with preventive measures, nothing else." Another unamused snort, Z's mouth turning into a frowning scowl as she stared a hole into Twi's forehead, not moving except for her eyes as he kept talking. Finally she did move...an uncaring shrug. "don't know them, don't care... The rich always abuse the rest, so I don't feel all that bad for him, sorry," she stated with bitter irony, showing she knew she wasn't sorry and didn't care she wasn't sorry. However, at the mention of it being a kid...Z's jaw grit together, and she took a deep breath, nostrils twitching once for a moment as her eyes switched immediately from the dark blue they usually were to the violet as her vampire half rose, and slit, jaw creaking as she kept it clenched even as her fangs slid out from her lips, top ones longer and daintier than the more animal-like bottom ones. The anger twisted her face to look much older, Z barely able to keep her lips pressed against a growling snarl at a child being attacked.

That's how vampire gained their powers, how she was changed into what she was... Standing in one smooth, almost untrackable motion, Z gave Twi a hard look. "I don't care if I die, that's always a hazard of my profession, and I couldn't give a rat's a** about the s**t you think of me, or anyone else for that matter," she seethed, voice hard and angry, eyes narrowed, the burning emotions hiding the deep hollow pit in the center of the hybrid's being from all the fear, all the hate aimed towards her. Empty, dead inside...wanting death. Afraid of doing the deed herself, afraid of Hell, being damned...destroying the undead blight of her world. "I don't know this Gaia, and there's only one God, so I guess they're f*cked up all on their own, aren't they?" she stated dismissively, tone hardening again. "I don't give a f*ck about anyone, get that? And I'm not a vampire, just a monster," she stated sarcastically, tone dripping burning venom as she stepped back towards the edge of the roof. "Don't know about you, but the night is better alone," she snapped, jumping off the edge backwards.

Twisting, spinning in midair, Z landed with barely any sound on the ground, not feeling as her slight weight's force, added to from her speed of descent, cracked the ground slightly under her boots. Not giving Twi a second glance on the roof above her, Z just walked off without looking to the side, needing to be alone. Needing to think, observe as she walked through the town listening, sensing, watching...missing little, if anything. She had been the best, using her senses to try to destroy those who enjoyed chaos and bloodshed, use her curse for God's purpose in vanquishing Hell on earth... Running her gloved fingers along the cross at her throat, Z bowed her head and sighed, trying not to cry the black ashy gunk that was all her stuck body could manage for tears.

Twi could only watch as Z threw her fit and left. he watched her fall, and then continued to observe her as she went off into the night. turning around, he mumbled

"it still hurts..." and sat down on the eadge of the tower to nurse his wounds.

Chieftain Twilight

Z spent her night patrolling the town, ducking into alleyways to observe and avoid the night watch, more of the armored police force patrolling thanks to her antic the night before. She didn't care, their ringing boots loud and painful to her ears. Feeling nauseous and woozy from her long time without blood, and not having eaten ANY food for a day and two nights, Z rested her forehead against a brick wall deep in the shadows of an alleyway. She didn't move as voices came closer from either end and stopped, ignoring them as she figured one obviously-armed person in a black coat wouldn't be all that interesting to common muggers.

Nope.

And these weren't common muggers.

Well now, what have we here amongst our midst? a rich, compelling cultured voice practically purred out. Blinking, lost in her thoughts and still affected, Z turned her head to look, blinking some more as she tried to clear her head of the dizzying lightness that seemed so sweet to fall into, so mindless... So dangerous, a lie. Eyes clearing, Z turned to step away from the smirking, well-dressed pale-skinned man smirking at the hybrid's revealed features, only to find a group of others blocking her way. Letting out a low snarl and crouching, Z growled as her eyes flicked around, not daring to look up as a possible route of escape to give these obvious non-humans a chance to block that off too. Senses heightened, it wasn't long before her fangs revealed themselves, Z panting just slightly as her bloodlust and hunger rose for the hunt, eager to kill and maim, eager to fight, to eat... Trembling slightly, a moment of blind light-headedness resulting in Z being slammed into a wall, fangs at her pale throat before the man...vampire...screamed in pain as her cross and murmured prayer burned him. Touching it for comfort, ignoring the sting to her dry eyes as its light flared and kept it back, Z's mind was further cleared as she flicked her eyes around the area. Seven vampires, four across one way, two behind the amused-looking rich one, and one of them female. She had her weapons, that night before being sent here having been expected to be really tricky; Z hated people who could portal, made them so hard for the Hall to find and track. So she had to.

The long-eared vampire from before had multiple abilities, despite seeming young to the hybrid, so it would be safe to assume these could as well. Well, safer, might let her live to see morning... Morning. She could survive in the sun, they couldn't. Z hoped. Only one way to find out, though I would REALLY hate to have to fight that long... she grumbled to herself, knowing her limits as she'd tested them many times before in hopes of the more vampires she snuffed out, the less cursed she'd be. Nope.

Keeping in mind what Twi had said about vampire CITIZENS, Z was aware she couldn't just KILL everyone. And to do so in a timely and neat fashion would take more of the hybrid's energy and care than she really felt like expending. So, what to do... Z wasn't given more of a chance to plan, the vampire now wearing an angry...almost blood-red, the hybrid noticed with an amused smirk...cross-shaped burn launched at her, fangs plain to see as he snarled at her. Growling back in response, Z dodged, only to get close to the foursome. Eyes flicking back to them, a gloved hand snapped back and they screamed, the Holy Water she threw at them not enough to destroy, but definitely enough to make them back away from her. Which was fine, she had her bullets. The moon seemed to highlight this macabre display, a deadly dance of shadows and glinting light, picking out all the silver of Z's gear, all the crosses glimmering gently, benignly...burning the vampires' eyes so they couldn't look at Z for long. She didn't care, she was used to fighting with her eyes closed around great Evil, her hearing and smell heightened.

A low crouch, a tiny sound... Battle raged, small hisses and grunts as hits found their mark the only sound in the night, nothing worth investigating to less-sensitive human ears. Z stood, holding a hand to her side where someone had managed to trip and stab her, and looked around her at the carnage. Blood covered the walls, fresh blood by the smell making Z's head swim even as she inched closer. Jerking away, she fell over a vampire's broken and twisted arm, and fell back into the opposite wall of the alley-also dripping blood. Panicking, she tore off her coat, and left it there, everything she REALLY needed along her body in its place. Not even bothering to take the small crosses, few vials of Holy Water and extra gloves out of her pockets...and a few small blades...Z ran through the night, gloved hands to her mouth as she ran from the cross-stopped vampires, the strongest one with Blessed silver wire around his wrists and kept in place with a Blessed silver cross between them...not touching, but if he moved his hands, it would BURN.

Finally stopping, her own precious little blood falling in slow drips down her side, Z was panting, feeling clammy and hot from the sustained energy she'd had to expend. To not just kill, not tired herself out with that last burst of adrenaline-fueled rage that would immobilize her afterwards. She had to continue, had to survive...had to keep moving. Seeing a manhole, Z easily lifted the heavy metal, noted the slight shake to her exposed pale arms, and quietly slid down into it with the cover closing with a small thud above her. Darkness, no light at all...perfect. Taking a cautious sniff around, there was a strange odor Z didn't recognize. Moving based off of small echoes of sound she made, well aware of the irony of using a bat's sonar as a way to move in the dark, Z moved towards one of three tunnels in the opposite wall that seemed...cooler, the scent weaker. Musty, less used. Double checking everything a few times, Z jumped...hands crashed into the brick wall, her heart hammering almost to normal speeds and choking the hybrid as she landed on her toes, feeling back behind her to see if there was any more space to walk on. There was. Taking a deep breath through her mouth, trying not to gag at the stagnant smell around the damp area, Z crouched down after pressing her now-bloody gloved hands against all the tunnels, quickly walking a few feet down each one before binding the wound in front of the middle tunnel. That way, it would be harder to track which one she went in.

Hopefully.

Approaching her chosen route, ribs aching and itching as her body even now tried to heal the wound without the necessary fuel to do so, Z took off her gloves and carefully moved down to take a small sniff at the ground. Dust...would show her tracks, no matter how silently and lightly she could tread. Standing, stuffing the soiled leather into her pocket, Z stared at her delicate fingers and resisted the temptation to sigh; one, it could be heard, two, it would bother her bound ribs. Z shook her head, face grim in the darkness before she opened her eyes. It was dark, gloomy without any light except for one small beam of silver from the manhole. It was comfortable, in a way, soothing...and Z was tired, so tired. Shaking her head again, hard, Z pinched her cheeks and grimaced at the shark pokes of her manicured fingernails. Carefully pressing them into her palms, Z nodded; she had dithered enough, especially as she heard footsteps tramp past the manhole, following her blood to the alleyway...and a pair soft and almost inaudible standing over it. Z hauled herself against the rough stone she could feel, fingernails hooking into the stones' edges as she moved along the wall, nary a footprint on the ground... After what seemed like hours, Z found a VERY musty alcove, looking around as best she could and barely running her fingertips along the stone for any openings, before she got a gun ready and lay with her back against the rear wall, facing the opening...and slept, mostly unconscious against her will as an attempt to recover her energy lost without sustenance and proper sleep.

A single eye appeared to float above Z, old magic checking the unused tunnel for signs of someone attempting to sneak in on the community hiding in this particular set of the sewers. It didn't leave a trace, just sifted an invisible powder over the intruder, who was then collected, eyes and voices in the dark wondering what this pale girl was, strange to their senses, her visible fangs when her mouth was...carefully...opened deciding them. Vampire, enemy...stupid little girl, a spy? They needed to take her, bind her...a certain hybrid unknowingly caught between the two factions still fighting despite what the overall tally had been.

Twi caught all the action from his perch. when it looked like someone or another was gonna be fried, he decide dto intervene in the safest way he could -- discreetly and subtly.

he hopped down, maneuvered, and came up behind one of the Vamps. he dragged the poor b*****d with him to an alley and cut the wire with a kunai. then whispered harshly in his ear.

"leave her alone. she'll tear you all to shreds, and attacking her will only cause problems. we have better business than to deal with her. think next time!"

by the time he peered his head back around the corner, she was gone. he swore and slumped. he followed the blood trail until he found a manhole.

looking both ways, he open the place and tried to follow the trail as best he could underground.

it took him a while, but eventually he noticed something very strange; clear signs of a magical teleportation.

this is bad... he thought.

Chieftain Twilight

Searing light, pounding head, aching wrists from chafing crosses... Wait, crosses at her wrists?? Z's eyes flashed open, the bright light held in a dark hand moving from eye to eye, painful, the hybrid hissing in annoyed hurt as she pulled at the chains. Hissing again as the crosses dug into her skin, the smell of burnt vampire rising along with faint steam, Z had to lie back breathing a bit hard and glare at the small form standing next to the cross-shaped slab she was on. They had left on her crosses from her clothing, which Z was grateful for, aware they thought her a normal vampire. Perhaps some mutation, to explain her odd fangs and scent? Nah. But whatever was going on, Z didn't like being chained up...again.

Voices, screaming, laughing, crying, praying. Faces swimming in and out of her vision, the one she had learned to long for, twisting in hate and disgust. Saying the words she'd been trying to hide. Monster, damned monster, destroying everything, just an ugly f*cking monster... The tears, all she could manage, the proof of her torn soul. Wishing to die, wishing the pain would stop, they would stop cutting her, torturing her...killing her. Going insane, slaughtering them all, draining HIM...found huddled, half-sane, her only friend helping her recover. Never again, she would never care again...

High laughter, bringing Z back to the present with a shark jerk of her head to glare at the child-looking being next to where she was tied up at enough of an angle her wrists couldn't help touching the cross. Now now, you should have known better than to wander our tunnels, stinky vampire spy, you should ha-... "I don't f*cking know a damn thing about what you sh*tface is babbling about like an a**..." she interrupted, yanking and straining against the chains impatiently. The small long-eared...like the other dude's, Z noticed...person scowled at her, eyes flaming with anger. How DARE you speak to me like that! they seethed, Z sticking out her tongue because she could, and she was tired and sore and so didn't care. Ignoring him shouting orders in some language she didn't know, the hybrid's eyes flicked around, the kid's face suddenly in her vision with a smirk at her having to go cross-eyed. There's no escape for YOUR kind down here, goodbye stupid fang-face~ With a cheerful wave and evil laugh, he was gone, hands behind his back and smirking so full of himself Z couldn't help but snort.

Sure, she knew she was in trouble, but Z didn't show anything, none of the concern and serious worry she had. She was dizzy, feeling faint... Hissing in surprise, Z automatically edged away from heat, glaring at the dark elf holding a fire-hot branding iron in the shape of a cross towards her. Twisting away...she just didn't want burnt, didn't really care about the cross...Z almost seemed ready to break her back to avoid the heat. Only to have her bangs jerked and another branding iron attached to her neck. Giving them a scream, fangs stretching her jaw out and eyes slitting as they went vamp with almost no pupil, Z writhed, carving their faces into her mind as she hissed and panted with her hunger, her pain, her need, her slipping sanity...

(Leave her like this for a while before finding her, okay? sweatdrop thanks...)

Twi had to go back to his mansion. he needed to bring some supplies back. he made note of where he was when he climbed out of the manhole, and marked it with chalk.

back at the mansion, he filled his magical backpack with the materials he would need to reverse the teleportation effect and harness it so that he could bind a Portal to the other side, and then repeat the process on the other side. he knew that a permanent portal there would be dangerous, but of they could already teleport anyway it made little difference.

he had to be fast, given that the sun would soon rise again. luckily, he could work underground. it wasn't going to be a fast process.

back at the abduction site, Twi began to work. it took him well into the morning and he was wracking his brain. exausted, he finally managed to open the Portal, and quickly worked on building the frame to keep it containe din a more stable form. it was very difficult, even for him, because he had to maintain the activation while working; it took incredible amounts of concentration.

finally arriving on the other end, Twi swore again under his breath, and quickly recast his obfuscation spell and a few spells to boost the toughness of his skin and his general awareness. he had to finish the portal here, which could take up to another hour.

"why'd it have to be Kuros?" he muttered.

Chieftain Twilight

Z gave another scream, dark almost black blood dripping from her jaw where the continued stress plus whatever they had put into her system brought the hybrid's fangs out past their normal limit. Head down, the dark elves around her chuckled, making snickering remarks about how the vampires were so weak. They just laughed again as Z snarled, slowly raising her pure-purple eyes, the tiniest dot of pupil all that was left as even the whites were gone... They stopped as she stared, seemingly blind, at them with her changed eyes, the snarl continuing on as if she didn't need to breathe to growl at them. Pale skin covered in crosses, burns of the holy symbol most effective against vampires, Z didn't think, just reacted. She had been pushed past her limit, her sides joining in perfect harmony to get her free, the beast's instinct of survival.

Giving a surprisingly deep and guttural roar that echoed down the hall, a few elves in other more modernized rooms looking up before going back to their work, Z grabbed the chains keeping her down, muscles becoming more prominent as she strained against her restraints. All reason gone, all was left was insane strength to get out, get away, survive... Didn't help it was maybe a week to the full moon, at night, resulting in Z's control over THAT side of her slipping away bit by tiny bit. The laughter stopped as Z's body seemed to grow just the slightest bit, muscles creaking and bones cracking, tendons snapping and ligaments popping as she visibly bulked up...not much, just barely detectable...right in front of their eyes. Snarling and panting out growls, the crosses on her manacles flashed as Z gave a wordless shout...and was free. Head up like an animal, sniffing, Z unerringly leaped and tore into those closest to her, her body's needs overwhelming all reason, all control she had had. Z was gone, the monstrous hybrid all that was left alone with the elves in the torture room.

And soon, not even they were there, sanity slowly returning to Z as her inner demon calmed with the blood she had drank, fangs still too-far extended making her jaw ache. But everything was healed, she was revitalized, her fangs slipping back into more normal positions as the hybrid tore into the elvish corpses and drank. Realizing what had happened, Z curled up against herself, wanting to hide from the bloody proof of what she was... But noises echoing against her heightened hearing, her own purely physical abilities raised at the blood...seeming, stronger, even, for being of these strange long-eared people...Z slipped into a shadowy corner, and waited. Her bloodlust rose, fangs still extended from her aching jaw as the hybrid watched people rush in, advancing more cautiously when they saw the destruction she had wrought on those with her. Lashing out with a growl, Z was a blur of color, the people knocked back as crosses flared. Hissing at the light in her eyes, Z nonetheless continued, skidding around corners and crashing into walls from the unaccustomed boost of speed she now possessed.

Clamors went up behind her, Z trying to make quick work of the tunnels, trying not to get lost as she looked for her gear. Soon, she was close to where she had started, with no real luck, except for the few blades she had in her boots and the crosses on her gloves and other attire. "Damn," Z growled, eyes showing the whites again but still otherwise just a wide expanse of dark violet, flicking side to side and all around for escape. There wasn't one, a slight discoloration growing in one wall like a water stain spreading outwards not worth noticing except for making her uneasy...Twi's portal forming.

Shouts went out, crashing like screaming trains against Z's hearing as they echoed and bounced in the halls, the hybrid giving a short scream of pain as she huddled down in a crouch with hands over her ears. Breathing heavily, she looked like a wild animal trapped, and frightened beyond reason. A group of elves came with range weapons, aimed...and fire, shots missing as Z moved to flip off the wall. But where she had expected stone, hard resistance, her foot shot through to barely avoid crashing into Twi's face. There was enough force from her initial jump that Z slipped all the way through the portal, sliding along her side as she crashed against the roof and straight down from the wall not being a wall...

Stunned, Z barely had time to register that she recognized the hat and face of this long-eared vampire, before more shouts...and more confusing babbles she couldn't understand...echoed out with odd wavering tones as if through water through the 'water spot' the hybrid rolled away from. Another shrill whistle sent her back down from where she had been standing, hands clasped desperately over her ears as Z stumbled back into the wall. Dust fell and she choked, but still ran off, trying to get away at this point, too much around her for her to deal with getting her gear back. She had her gloves, the crosses on her clothing, and the two blades down her boots...she would survive.

Z hoped.

And prayed as she ran blind through the tunnels, her hasty footsteps more than echoing enough for her to avoid pits and moving water in the blinding dark. Even her eyes required SOME tiny bit of light, her heightened hearing confusing yet clearing the path for Z's stumbling flight. Breath heaving, she slid down against the wall under a manhole, even that slender bit of natural illumination searing her more-sensitive eyes as Z cringed back with a pained whimper. Where was she, what was with all the long ears, what kind of world accepted vampires as citizens?? "We're all mad here," the hybrid murmured to herself, leaning back against the wall close to the manhole and trying to slow her breathing, unaware she had run for hours on end through the tunnels, run for hours well into dawn. She was just tired, so tired...so high-strung, the blood inside her a zing of irrepressible energy Z would need when she was sent up into the sun by whatever next would startle the sensitive-sensed hybrid.
