Taneir's eyes widened as he looked from one neko to the other, then he finally chuckled. "Oh, I see what this is. Some traditional joke? It's kind of strange, but funny!" He laughed again, but the sound trailed off as the serious expressions on the others refused to change. "...Are you telling the truth? But how--I'm male!"

 Nalla Sheridan Bride Nalla looked to him, her eyes asking for forgiveness as she explained how it was possible. Her voice quivered as she explained it, hoping that he could understand and forgive her. She looked to her father and spoke softly to him. "F-Father, c-can you l-leave us? I t-think I can e-explain everything from h-here." She waited for her father to leave, closing the door behind him before she turned to Taneir. She looked to him, still standing near the table, her body trembling slightly as she spoke again. "I am n-not 100% s-sure how it is p-possible. I just know the b-belt you had on, and the b-blessing you r-received before coming h-here have s-something to do w-with it. I-If I could be the o-one to c-carry the c-children, and give b-birth to them, s-some how it is n-not p-possible. P-Please u-understand."

Taneir's head reeled with this new information. "H-how can it be possible? Am I the only male who's had this happen to them?" He suddenly blinked. "C-could I already be pregnant from our mating last night??" He put a hand to his stomach, feeling for... well, he didn't know what.

Nalla Sheridan Bride Nalla looked to him, and felt a pang of regret as she pulled a chair over to him and helped him to sit down. "N-No, your n-not the only one. All our m-males carry and b-birth the c-children. It is o-our female th-that go hu-hunting for food and p-protect this v-village." She stood there a few steps away from him, wanting to give him his space to sort through the information he had just gotten. "It is possible, but I cannot be certain. But if you are, I will always be here for you, even if you cannot accept me anymore." She turned and faced the wall as she finished that last words. She didn't want to see the horror and rejection on his face.

There was silence for a few moments, then Nalla felt a hand grasp her own. "I think I'm beginning to understand..." Taneir said softly. "You need outsiders to diversify your tribe and keep having healthy young, but you can't tell them because it would scare them away."
There was another pause.
"I did say I would do everything to make us happy and fulfilled, and I will keep my word. As I have been married into your tribe, I will adapt to its ways as... as best I can. Do you want me to have your children, Nalla?"

Nalla Sheridan Bride Nalla slowly turned to him, not sure how to react as she lightly held his hand. She closed her eyes as he spoke, her voice trembled slightly, the purr somehow absent in her voice. "I-I'm s-sorry...I'm s-sorry I c-couldn't t-tell you the t-truth...I-I would h-have if I c-could...I p-promise..." A tear slid from her eyes as he said he would keep to his words that he had spoken the night before. She looked to him, shock on her face, shock for not knowing how he could accept her now that he knew the truth. But to his last question she nodded her head slightly. "Y-Yes, I would l-love to h-have c-children w-with you. You will not be c-caring for them a-alone, I w-will be here w-with you. I do not h-hunt w-with the others. I a-actually run a d-daycare so to s-speak." She knelt in front of him and held his hands in hers as she placed a soft kiss on top of them both. She gave him a small smile, slowly growing more happy as it sank in that he wouldn't reject her.

He lifted the trembling girl back to her feet, wrapping her in his embrace.
"I know I wouldn't be alone. I'll have a lot to learn, and I'm not sure I could ever go back to my old tribe if they knew what is becoming of me. It still feels so strange, but in the end, I still want to be with you; have a family with you." He lifted her face up gently by the chin and kissed her, then took a deep breath and smiled slightly. "Please tell me more about this daycare. Why don't you hunt?"

Nalla Sheridan Bride Nalla looked to Taneir and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. She was still a little unsure if he was being true but she would grab whatever she could from him. "I will help you learn whatever you need to. If you need to ask anything ask myself or my father. We will help you however we can." She hung her head slightly as she spoke softly. "T-That is s-sadly why m-most d-don't l-leave. I am sorry things are still so strange." She looked to him as he said he wanted to stay with her and have a family of her. She looked to him as he tilted her head up and kissed her. She lightly kissed him back as she hugged him. "Lets get bathed and dressed and I can do more then tell you about the daycare."

"Thank you," Taneir said. "I guess we could wash up, but first..." He smiled playfully licked her nose. "How about we cement ourselves as mates just one more time?"

Nalla Sheridan Bride Nalla looked up to him when he paused, and as she did so Taneir licked her nose. She blushed at his comment but nodded her head as she hugged him. They walked over to the bed together and held each other, and as Taneir removed her gown once more her purring returned to vibrate in her chest. She looked up to him, her eyes glittered with an emotion she couldn't yet describe or name.
Some time later after they had bathed, with a little play in the bathing room, and gotten dressed she lead Taneir into her village, ignoring the snickers and remarks from those in the village. She brought him to another large house, almost the exact twin to the house they had just been in, and opened the door. As she opened it you could hear the sounds of children playing, crying and napping inside. There were a few other male's in the house tending to their children and as she entered they waved to her and gave her a small smile in greeting. "This is the daycare, it allows for those males that are used to doing hard labor to go and do things as long as their mate is alright with it. Those who do not mind being pampered stay here and help me care for the children."
Nalla looked up to him and gave him a small smile as she placed her hand in his. She was glad she could share this with someone, someone that wouldn't see it as a weakness. "W-Would you like to h-help watch the c-children with me t-today T-Taneir? If not y-you can e-explore the v-village, g-get to k-know the other v-villagers." She stood with him, her hand in his, as she looked to him. She would not keep him next to her if he didn't want to, but she would love it if he did stay. She didn't want to have to answer any questions the males or females of her village might ask her about last night with Taneir. She might be the chief's daughter but she didn't like sharing her personal business with others.

Taneir looked over the children and listened to the explanation. He had grown up doing some of the harder "male" work around his tribe, but he had always had a soft spot for children, too. What was he going to do in this new place? Could he work until he became--? He shook his head. If he became pregnant. Yes.
"I'd like to stay with you today, if that's all right," he said. "I've still only known you a day. I want to know more about what you do?" He smiled.

Nalla Sheridan Bride Nalla smiles and nods her head as she squeezed his hand lightly. "You may stay Taneir. Maybe tonight we can sit down and tell each other about ourselves, would that help some as well?" As she waited for an answer she spun quickly on her heels when she heard the crying of one of the smaller children. She let goof Taneir's hand and ran over to pick up the baby Neko girl and patted her back and rocked her in her arms. "Shh little one, everything is fine. It was just a nightmare dear. Your safe and with those who love you. Shh, shh." She stood by the crib of the toddler and rocked her until she was back to sleep. She went to lay her back down but she started to whimper. Nalla held her in her arms, rocking her as she turned around and gave Taneir an apologetic look.

Taneir felt a warmth inside watching Nalla comfort the child. She definitely had a motherly instinct, even if she couldn't biologically become one herself. At least she would be there if he proved too bad at this...
He walked over and placed a hand on her shoulder. "May I... try holding her?"

Nalla Sheridan Bride Nalla smiled up to Taneir and nodded her head. She gently placed the young girl in Taneir's arms, trying her best to not wake her too much. As the young girl was placed in Taneir's arms she mewed a little and cuddled closer to Taneir before settling back to sleep. "She seems to like you Taneir. I think you will be a good father, when we have children of our own."

The kitten stirred in his arms, making him blush. "She's so wonderful..." He looked up at Nalla. "Um... what actually happens when your males become pregnant? Is it the same as others' female pregnancies? Is there anything I should be watching for...?" He blushed deeper, not wanting to sound so interested in this subject.
