Junko was blissfully unaware of Riley's thoughts about her brain, laying out her patches on her bed to try and figure out how she was going to go about this. She knew she had more than enough to make what she wanted, it was just a matter of putting it all together! Junko had never done patchwork, this was a new experiment. She blinked a bit and glanced toward Riley when she 'spoke' again, finding her tone somewhat odd but not enough to really question it. It just seemed off...like she was forcing something. Huh. Weird. "Look...inside my mind...?" Clearly, Junko didn't understand the implications. She had never encountered a mindflayer before, and quite honestly her knowledge on most other races of anything was very lacking. But that's what school was for, right? Riley made a very good point though, it was very difficult for Junko. She frowned a bit and nodded, turning back to her patches not out of rudeness but just because she wanted to get it done right.

Strength of character? Really? Riley had no idea what kind of compliment she'd just given Junko, the girl lit up like a jack-o-lantern on Halloween night. "You think I'm strong? Really?!" She gasped, eyes wide. "Thank you! Thank you so much! It...it IS hard! Because She's always berating me, and hitting me, and she steals my food and calls me names, and she says horrible things sometimes that I would rather she just not say whether they're true or not! And I...I don't...want to turn out like others of my kind so I...thank you, Riley!" Through Her gagged mouth She could be heard groaning with displeasure. Great, just great. And here She had been working so hard with whittling down this ghoul's self-confidence; the students here were ruining all Her efforts and at this rate She'd have to start all over again!

Yes. It's something my kind can do. Just.. not here. She rolled her eyes, and lowered the costume when Junko's reaction to her comments seemed a little more enthusiastic than expected. You're welcome. It does sound like a heavy burden, after all. It should not be surprising that you are thought of as strong. Not many could do what you do and maintain such a cheerful persona.

She lifted the costume a second time, hoping that she'd get Junko's thoughts on her work now that the initial excitement had waned. So? How is it looking? I value your input on this matter.

"Oh...what are you, if you don't mind me asking?" She had never seen anything like Riley! So she hoped that she could ask, since Riley had asked her the same question! Junko's smile softened at her words, nodding her head and glancing at a bit of her hair. "Most futakuchi-onna are broken by their...affliction. They submit and give in. I..I don't want to do that." She admitted quietly, not seeming to pay it any mind as a bit of hair slithered down her arm and wrapped around it, pulling it up a little. Junko merely focused on Riley as she held up her costume. Oh! Right! She'd asked before! Now she felt so rude for having gotten so excited but not answered Riley's inquiry.

Hmmm...it looked good so far! "Not bad! Have you ever sewn before?" The stitching could probably be stronger if she had a machine...but this was just for an audition. Riley didn't need to make it absolutely perfect, right? That would take too much time.

Riley put the costume down when she her work was affirmed as acceptable, and got back to it. I am an Illithid. They call our kind mindflayers. We.. enjoy minds. With some fava beans and a nice chianti, but Riley kept that part to herself. We are a species of intellect and information, it is our lifesblood. It is therefore wonderful to have met you, Junko. Knowing more about your kind is quite a treat.

She had been looking at her stitches as she spoke, but she looked up at Junko briefly for one important moment. Do not submit. Never submit, Junko. You have a chance at a long, and frightening life. All you have to do is keep your control tight in your grasp. It is what us illithid do every day. If you manage it, I will always have great respect for you.

She bit the end of her thread off, as she'd finished one part, and rethreaded to begin the lining. I have never sewn before, her tone suddenly much lighter as she returned to paying attention to her work. Watching you has been my only instruction. But oh, she was a very quick student.

Illithid...what a peculiar name. They enjoyed minds? But how? Did they read minds? Maybe, since Riley was speaking to her inside her own head...oh! But then did that mean Riley could read her mind? Oh dear! So...so did she know Junko had given false information about herself?! Crap, crap, crap! She tried not to let the mild panic show on her face, instead smiling and blushing a little. "And it's very nice to meet you as well, Riley. You're certainly unique!"

Junko turned back to her work after that seemed to be over and they settled back into sewing, finally picking up pieces here and there and beginning to sew them together. Every now and then she coaxed over her pink scissor bird and got it to cut or snip in places she needed it to, cooing to it in praise and putting it back down so she could return to her work. She was surprised by the sudden 'order' not to submit, looking up and staring quietly at Riley. Those words were actually very..encouraging to her. She smiled a bit and nodded, a faint blush rising to her cheeks. "I'll do my best, I promise. It's hard but...I've managed it so far?" Enough to gag Her and hit Her. That had to mean something, right? If she was able to fight her? Heh.

Her blush intensified slightly at Riley's answer to her question. She was really learning all this from her?! Talk about pressure! Now Junko just hoped she didn't mess up. "Wow I...alright then! Heh...um, do you want to try it on so far? Make sure it fits right?" Junko would be happy to make minor adjustments while Riley was wearing it. It would still be Riley's work, she'd just be helping!

Yes, that's a good idea. Riley settled the costume down and flattened it before billowing it out before her. I'm sure there are adjustments that must be made by someone while I am wearing it. She seemed to have figured the same reasoning that Junko did, concerning the process. She hadn't read any minds, but the fact that she'd thought the same thing Junko had might make the ghoul worry about mind-reading a bit more. Fortunately, it was just a coincidence.

She stood and slipped the costume over her head, letting it fall loosely over her body. She couldn't see much from where she was, so she stood on her tiptoes and swiveled left to right. How does it look?

Geh! D-did she really read her mind? No...no, that couldn't have been it. Riley merely had the same idea. That was it. It was common sense. She didn't read her mind. She didn't. She didn't! Ehhhhh...it was all coincidence. Yes. Totally.

Way to make her paranoid, Riley. Way to go.

Junko watched her put the costume on, humming to herself and putting down her own things. She stood, circling Riley and looking her up and down. It wasn't that bad, actually! Junko had been expecting she'd have to make all kinds of adjustments...hoping for it, even. She reached out to very gently tug at a seam just to make sure it was okay, letting go when she appeared satisfied. Hmmm..damn. It looked really well done for a first timer. "Not bad! Can you move your arms and everything?" Junko hid her disappointment well. She wanted to be useful. She wanted to be able to fix and adjust...she wasn't used to someone else making something in front of her, usually Junko was the one making things.

Riley lifted her arms, but nothing seemed to occur. Her brow furrowed deeply.

Arms. She murmured in disappointment. I wasn't really thinking about arms. I was just sewing straight down. She wiggled her arms in what now seemed like a cage of cloth, and then shook her head. I have failed. I apologize. It is fixable, though, is it not?

...Oh...oh she didn't even...

Wow.

Junko blinked, surprisingly able to keep herself from laughing or snickering. She was more shocked than anything. Riley didn't make arms? Wow. Um. Alright then! That was interesting. "Oh dear. Well, it happens. We can ju--wh-what?" Suddenly Riley was getting with the dramatics! She failed? She didn't fail! Except for the missing arms she was doing well so far! Junko smiled and nodded her head at Riley's question, stepping away to gingerly pick up her scissor bird. "Of course!" Riley had plenty of burlap left still, and some of it could be used to make her legs and her arms. Perfect, really! Junko reached with one hand to feel where Riley's arm was, not thinking anything of it if this was invading her personal space or not since she was honestly just doing this to figure out where to cut. Hmmm...oh! There it was. She held the bird up to that spot, letting it cut away at the seam there and open it back up.

"There we go! Now just reach your arm through there so I can put the arm on for you." Junko instructed, putting the bird down on her bed and then reaching down to pick up the extra burlap at her feet. Hmmm...they were going to need to open up the back when this was all done so she could properly step into the costume later.

Riley stood still as Junko felt for where the armhole should be, and when it was done she slipped her arms through them. She knew she had made the right decision coming to this ghoul for assistance. It was obviously going to work out well.

Thank you. I wasn't really thinking about form or function when I was sewing. I was simply.. doing the movements I watched you do. This was the problem with learning by example - there left no room for maneuverability or change. Riley adjusted for that with her ability to quickly learn from a mistake, and pick up where she left off. For now, however, she would let Junko worry about the arms. She seemed to enjoy being so helpful.

It was an alien concept.

I hope you get the part of Sally. Riley murmured, quite randomly. She had mused over what would be an acceptable way to thank Junko for her assistance, and wishing her good luck seemed appropriate.

"That's alright! It happens, you were excited? It's an easy fix, don't worry." Junko told her cheerfully. She picked up the needle and thread, tucking the burlap under her arm so she could thread the needle. After knotting the end she held one end of it against the edge of the hole, humming happily and beginning to sew the arm around the hole. Junko paused a moment when Riley wished her luck, smiling softly and even blushing a little. It was nice to hear someone had hope in her! "Thank you, Riley! I hope I do too, I really want it. And I hope you get Oogie Boogie." Junko then returned her attention to sewing up Riley's new arm. She did her best not to accidentally p***k Riley or anything, and it got especially hard to do when it came to working underneath her arm. Junko bent a bit to get at that part, her hair deciding to actually be helpful by wrapping around Riley's arm and moving it up and out of the way.

Finally one arm was complete. One arm down, one to go! But she had to make sure that worked.

Junko stuck the dull end of the needle in her mouth and stepped back away from Riley, putting her hands on her hips and tilting her head to the side. Hmmm.. "How is that? Does it move well? Does it fit right?"

Riley responded to the nudge on her arm without realizing where it was coming from for a moment, only looking over at the hair after she'd obliged. An eyebrow arched at the action, and she watched the rest of Junko's hair carefully. I should. I feel comfortable with the role, I doubt there will be sufficient competition. She sounded so confident, as if it was already a done deal.

She stretched her arm, and the bent it, and found the cloth steady but fitting. It didn't seem to encumber her in the slightest. Excellent work, Junko. Fine craftsmanship. This material can't be easy to work with, but you managed very well. I am impressed.

Luckily Junko's hair didn't do anything untoward to Riley, releasing her after Junko was ready to close up the arm. My, but Riley was confident! She wished she had that kind of confidence, but Junko was sure that other ghouls would be auditioning for Sally as well. Ghouls with talent and gorgeous singing voices...Junko wasn't sure if she even had a good singing voice! She'd never sang before.

She watched as Riley moved her arm, her eyes trained critically on the seams. No popping, no tearing...alright That was good. Very good. Junko smiled proudly at her work, the smile growing at the compliments she was receiving one after the other. Her hair tugged the needle from her mouth so she could speak. "Thank you, Riley! It is rather hard to get the needle through, and it's pretty heavy. I've never worked with burlap before. Turn around and I'll do the other arm." Junko instructed again, waiting for her to turn to give Junko her other side. Whenever she did Junko would repeat the process of adding on a second arm. Once that was done she smiled and stepped back again, putting her hands on her hips and practically puffing with pride.

"There! All done with the arms. Now we just need to do your legs and then open up the back so you can step in and out of it. I think I have some buttons around here somewhere..." She had no zippers, but maybe she had buttons?

Riley was silent and unhindering as Junko finished up work on the other arm. She then moved the other arm, checking for the same consistency in movement as the first. Everything seemed in working order, and so far she was very pleased with the results.

It was getting late, and Riley realized she was taking up quite a bit of the ghouls time, so she was glad to know that the costume was at least on it's way to being complete. Some buttons should be adequate. What can I do to assist you with either part?

What could Riley do? Well...hm. "Just stand still and try not to move too much." She said gently, trying not to sound too rude or demanding about it. She could do all this as long as Riley stayed still unless Junko asked her to move. But first? Legs. Riley needed legs. And so Junko set about making those for her, getting down on her knees and instructing Riley to stand on the burlap. The easiest way to make the legs was to just lift and sew, making a seam between the legs so they really would look like legs. She didn't think anything awkward about the placement of her hands or herself, she was merely here to make a costume. Nothing awkward here.

After testing out the durability of the legs Junko stood up, picking up her scissor bird again to cut down Riley's back. She didn't go down all the way, just to about the middle of her back. The buttons were sewn on after that, cutting small holes for them to go through. They were fairly large buttons that she'd meant to add on to something merely for decoration, so they'd be easy enough to button and unbutton! When she was finally done she put the needle into her pin cushion and looked over their combined efforts, making a pleased little noise. Not her best work considering how quick it was, and it was with something she wasn't used to, and it was a strange shape! "All done! What do you think?" Junko asked happily, waiting to hear how Riley felt.
