Photinus' gears seemed to be whirling as he thought. Libby waited patiently as he gathered his thoughts together. Once he recalled the fact he had been looking for he seemed to be a bit...for lack of a better paler than before. "That's alright. I understand that it may be a painful memory," she said and kindly allowed the topic to be dropped.
Liberty smiled cheerfully at her new found companion, at least that's what she considers him. "It's no problem. This place is so old, decrepit and..." she shuddered "empty, I'm just glad to help anyone I can. Its not like many have possession let alone enough to share, but because I do I feel like I should help." Then she murmered under her breath "Thats one benefit of enrolling yourself into this place," so quietly that her walking partner would have to have very acute hearing to have heard her.
Photinus smile almost instantaneously disapeared as she mentioned David, but her's still lightly played at her lips. "It's ok. The past is the past, you can't change. Just going to keep moving forward." and with that her stride seemed to elongate slightly, her posture straightened ever so slightly. There was a quiet pause between them. He seemed sincere in his offer to talk with her and she would keep that in mind if she needed a hand. "Thanks Photinus, I'll keep that in mind." But she wasn't ready now to discuss it.
"That would be cool. For the life of me I couldn't decipher practically anything." she pictured the symbols and still nothing similar came to mind. "I haven't managed to find anything to read here. Not even a newspaper shard. So weird." she continued at a steady gait down the empty hall.

"Oh Libby, you don't have to feel compelled to share just because you came here with more. These are probably things from your family. Anyone would want to keep what they can... if those things make them happy." Guilt for his earlier sentiments washed over him. Of course they had been silly thoughts; this girl was obviously a generous soul. But perhaps the gratitude was plain enough on his features as he hurried to keep up with her.
It would be evident that he had missed the words she murmured, and because of her manner he did not press the issue to find out their meaning. And he did not pursue further details when she chose not to elaborate upon her memories of her friend David, nor to rely on his offered shoulder. They had horrible memories in their past, this reality they shared. And she was right, all one can do is press forward. Libby was a courageous girl. He then remembered a promise he had made with regard to another girl and made the same promise to himself about Libby now: this was a person whose friendship he must cherish, keep, and defend at all costs.
"At the very least we should be able to discover what language they appear to be, then we can look for some reference in the library." Perhaps in this case, a camera would have been useful; at least then they could refer back to it in their search for more clues.
