At the generous offer, Amy blinked. It was the best thing she'd heard in a long time! Although it did make her feel a little bit guilty... she couldn't help the quick flash of relief that shifted through her features, and gratitude. Still... "Thank you." her voice was warm. "Thank you very much! That would be very much appreciated." well, that was one way of saying it, wasn't it?
Listening to Ace's story, Amy nodded her head, turning back to watch her daughter as well. It was unfortunate for one who seemed to be able to entertain her child so thoroughly to have no family, no real use. To be the companion of an ailing friend... this man was soft hearted something she had already noticed. The thought of having the youth who made her daughter laugh as she ran around the store deactivated, made her frown. No, that wouldn't work, would it?
At the offer, Amy turned back her head. Well, wasn't that the most wonderful idea then? "I think that is a really good idea!" wondering if she had stepped into some alternate dimension where everything seemed to be going so well, or if she was taking advantage of this man (after all a bird, biomechanic devices, and an android to take home?), she smiled. She didn't know how much androids like Ace could actually feel, but it would be nice to have someone else play with Maya, and it would be nice to know that she was doing her part in making sure nothing was done to this poor soul yet.
"Of course." written permission? That made sense. Nodding her head, she looked back over at Maya who was giggling on the floor, laughing as she reached out to pet Ace. "I..." suddenly feeling a little bit flustered, she couldn't help but blurt out the thoughts going through her head. "Are you sure? Am I taking advantage of you in any way? I feel like I am. Are you sure about the bird, and the gadgets and even if it is for a little while, Ace and..." she frowned, hands that had been moving through the air to emphasize her points stilling before going to her head. "It's only a thousand gold, but..." it would make her feel better.
Amy laughed slightly, an amused noise. "I would tell you to drop by my store and see what you would like, but I own a store that sells party clothes for young boys and girls Maya's age..." she perked up. "Do you have a child? A son, or a daughter?"

Kiri waved away the gold. "You aren't taking advantage of me." he said with a smile. "I want to do this for your family - if I didn't, I wouldn't have offered, right?"
At the mention of a clothing shop, he considered. Considered, of course, the random shadow child that had simply popped into existence about an hour ago and was still sleeping in the back roo-... Well nevermind. As Kiri was contemplating, he caught sight of the shadowy figure perched on one of his workbenches, kicking those legs of his back and forth. His eyes widened, as he mouthed 'don't touch!' at the child. Too bad the.. boy? It looked like a boy... had already picked up a half-finished hand for another android, and was waving it around. Since the boy was behind the woman and her daughter, his movements might have seemed rather comical as she wouldn't know he was trying to get the kid off the bench by making motions with his head.
"I can't possibly impose on you in that fashion." he replied, eyes still on the shadowboy. And the child seemed to know it... He was holding the hand above the concrete melter, hovering just inches from the heat that would reduce a day's worth of work to naught. Eyes widened. He shook his head... the shadowboy nodded his, and Kiri shook his again, with a pleading look to his features. Curiously enough, the boy didn't seem to be doing this maliciously - simply out of 'I want to do this so I can see what happens'. Still... Kiri wanted him to leave the hand alone!

Amy smiled. "Well then, thank you very much." she said, nodding her head. She watched him then, curiosity crossing her features. Just... just what was he doing? It was the oddest thing to see him shake his head, and look around. There was something that was odd about the way he was looking at her. No... not at her. Behind her. Trying to make it seem as if she didn't notice his odd behavior (maybe mechanical geniuses had odd little traits) she smiled. "No, it wouldn't be an imposition at all! I would like to be able to help in any way. Do you have children yourself?" she smiled. "I've been doing this for a living, but now that Maya has come along, I have been having a little bit more fun in designing clothes for her. It makes it more personalized, rather than just a living."
Deciding that she couldn't take it any more, and deciding that maybe it wasn't just an odd trait of his, she looked behind her. "Is something the..." she started, and stopped. Well... that was certainly not what she had been expecting.
She'd seen one of these odd shadow things before, at the DVD store. It had tried to eat her DVD's, and she still didn't know what it was. Certainly, there was something new and unusual about them, and she still wasn't sure what they were. Or how certain people seemed to ... well, be associated with them.
She had been too busy to talk to anyone, about them before. She had been distracted. But here, in this store... she paused. "Just what is it?" she asked curiously.

"I honestly don't know..." Kiri started. "But I wish it would put down what I have been working on for the last six hours...."
At that, the shadow slowly, sloooowly set down the hand he'd been holding, and 'patted' it as though he was really truly sorry for having messed with it. After that, he jumped from the stool he was on, and FLEW over to Kiri's arms, settling in them with a nuzzle of his head. Kiri, for his part, held the child-shaped shadow as though it was the most natural thing in the world.
"... It apparently likes me." he said, looking down at the solid black thing in his arms. "... and it IS awfully cute... just look at those eyes..."
He considered something for a few moments, and then looked back to Amy. ".. Could you make some simple clothing for this one?"

Amy laughed as she watched the way the little critter flew into the man's arms. She nodded her head. It was awfully cute, wasn't it? "I've seen a couple of them around... or at least, I think they're all the same... and I don't know what they are. Or how some people seem to attract them." at his words, she brightened.
Clothes, simple clothes for the little one?
Well, that was certainly something that she could do!
"I would love to!" she said out loud, gushing just slightly at the end of it. It was something that would have her feel just a little bit better over taking advantage of the genius mechanic.
"Hello there." she said, staring into those bright little eyes. "I'm Amy."
