AND SO WAS MICHAEL BALL biggrin Yes, I thought Marius was AMAZING! And when I mean Marius, I mean Michael Ball. The Nick Jonas thing was good but didn't have quite the same training as the others. He had the Marius look but not the voice.

Eh, well, the 25th anniversary was not my favourite cast.
Philip Quast and Colm Wilkinson will always be Javert and Valjean in my idealized Les Mis cast. I'm terribly biased about this I'm afraid..

Pretty much same for me, the lack of Colm was jarring, but I've learned to like Terrence Mann (OBC) as Javert too. Mostly because he's easier to sing along with. I thought Norm Lewis had a great color* to his voice, this kind of richness, but the last few measures of Stars seemed to work against him by turning it into more of a pop song. It kind of broke the immersion, as opposed to the TAC, where you can really believe Javert is really a threat to Valjean, 'cos he just has that tone at "I will never rest". You can believe that he's not gonna SLEEP until he gets JVJ.
Also, the Jonas did better then I expected, but still...nothing compared to Micheal Ball.
*Not intended as racist joke.

Fleet Street Phantom Eh, well, the 25th anniversary was not my favourite cast. Philip Quast and Colm Wilkinson will always be Javert and Valjean in my idealized Les Mis cast. I'm terribly biased about this I'm afraid.. I agree, Philip and Colm will forever be the best. Oh, that's an amazing name. " Perhaps today you gave a nod, to Sweeney Todd, the demon phantom of fleet street. ( Forgive my loserishness)

I give it a nine. I think that all in all, this was a good cast. The only thing I didn't like was the casting for Marius and Eponine. Nick Jonas as Marius was not a good choice at all. He vocals didn't impress me and he just seemed so lost the entire time. Sam Barks was too poppy and nasal sounding. I honestly had hard time sympathizing for the character she was trying to portray because I felt that her performance had a real lack of emotion. I can see where they were trying to go in casting those two because Nick and Sam are somewhat similar sounding to Gareth Gates and Rosalind James, the two who were playing Marius and Eponine at the Barbican Theatre. But obviously, it didn't work out. James and Gates have much fuller and rich sounding voices, where Barks and Jonas do not. I did enjoy the rest of the cast though. I was so happy to see Jenny Galloway come back as Madame Thenardier. And I was absolutely thrilled that Lea Salonga was performing! I love her! I didn't super love her as Fantine, but she was still amazing as always. Alfie Boe wowed me with his operatic voice and Norm Lewis was very good as well. I loved Katie Hall as Cosette!! She's my favorite Cosette! She's so sweet and cute and innocent looking, perfect for the role of Cosette. I also very much enjoyed Ramin Karimloo as Enjolras. I super super loved the special performances at the end. The four Valjeans were superb. It was so great to see Colm Wilkinson again! And was so excited to see Simon Bowman performing. I loved him in Miss Saigon. And I nearly died from excitement when they brought back the original cast members. I always have to try really hard not to compare this cast to the TAC, because it truly was the Dream Cast.

I agree. I do LOVE Norm Lewis but Philip Quast has more anger in his voice when he sings. The emotion is great and Stars heart heart heart heart heart !!!!!!
