"Well that's just perfect! On both actually!" she laughed and looked over to him. "I would have to say, I would have to laugh if you had little flutter wings, Acanthus!" She stopped for a moment, taking a look around for any notion of movement. "Perhaps we can find you a meal..." her nostrils took in the scents around them. "Care for rabbit? I smell rabbit,"

Her mind was pleasantly surprised so far with this male. Perhaps he would work after all...

Her laugh became contagious, and he allowed himself to chuckle, if only momentarily, as he wanted to stay on his guard. He wanted to be the best stallion he could be for this mare, and he wanted her to like him. So far he thought that he was succeeding, but he didn't want to blow it, so he put his mind to really focusing and trying.

He lifted his nose to the air and sniffed. After a moment he nodded in agreement, "Rabbit sounds great," He could smell it on the air too, but he hadn't yet figured out how to correctly pinpoint his prey by smell. That was something his sister was better at, but he did have sharp eyesight, and before long he caught a slight twitch, the first jump of a startled rabbit that was still deciding whether it should really run for it, or just shy away out of reach.

Quietly, he said, "There!" And extended his nose towards it. It was closer to the mare than it was to him, and he didn't want to start after it because he would have to chase it down to catch it. Perhaps she could snatch it up before it noticed her. He had already lost the opportunity to catch it unawares. It was staring right back at him with unblinking eyes.

Fathom followed Acanthus' eyes, spotting the rabbit hiding in the bush. Unfortunately for the small mammal, it should have looked her way sooner. The rabbit turned it's small head just in enough time to see Fathoms small fangs snapping around its neck. Fathom smiled as the creature squirmed and squealed, she could taste the irony fluid running from its neck. She gave the rabbit a few hard tosses from side to side, snapping its neck. She grinned even wider as the body lie limp in her grib. She had the urge to toss the rabbit at the male, but she stopped, that could be taken as rude of her.

She caught herself and avoided throwing the meal, she took a few steps over and held it out for Acanthus to take, "This is for you," she mumbled around the rabbit.

Had he attempted to go after the rabbit, it probably would have escaped, but that wasn't something he was about to admit to this charming mare. He was relieved, however, when she dove for it.

Her snatch had been so graceful, so smooth and quick that he could merely admire her and raise a brow at her skill. 'What a mare!'

Whether he realized it or not, the stallion had fallen for this mare. He was love-stricken, head-over-hooves, ga-ga, all of that, or maybe not quite any of it. Perhaps just seduced. Any way it was put, Acanthus had fallen for the alluring trap that had been set for him. Had he been a wise, traveled stallion perhaps he would have caught on, but that was not the case. He had been well and thoroughly ensnared.

He approached the mare after the smallest hesitation and gently took the rabbit from her, unavoidably brushing his rough nose against hers in the process. Mumbling around the rabbit, "Thank you, Fathom," A step back, and then he tossed the rabbit up a bit so that he could snatch it up with a better bite. Half the rabbit gone, he made one more toss for the other half, and the rabbit was gone from sight, except for perhaps a few droplets of blood that had managed to escape his maw. "Mmmm."

She waited as patiently as possible for the stallion to finish his meal. She could tell by his mannerisms that he was a younger stallion, but that didn't matter to her. Age didn't matter, only the genetic make up. She would have to question her brother, Demon, about this stallion's family the next time she saw him. He often knew of others in their area and what they were known for.

For now though, she would take her time to lure in the stallion, gain his trust...all that garbage that came with 'relationships'.... a base for her future plans for him if he checked out to be worthy of her plans. She stalled in her conversation, unsure of what should come next. Socialization was not a skill widely taught in her family... at least not outside of the family itself.

He ate the rabbit as politely, and yet as quickly as he could manage without it looking like he was gulping it down. He wasn't starving, and something as small as a rabbit could go down in two swallows, one if he was in a hurry, but this wasn't a race. As he chewed he tried to mull over what had happened today and what he should do next. They had talked, and talked, and they even caught a nice snack.... so what happened now?

Lifting his head as he licked his lips clean of any stray blood, Acanthus tossed his blue mane out of his eyes and took one long look at the mare before realizing that it was his turn to say something. The mare didn't look like she had much more to say, so Acanthus had to be bold now. He decided to go ahead and stick his neck out -so to speak- and allow this mare a solid hold on him.

Confidently he spoke, and 'no' would not be taken for an answer. "We should find shelter soon. Lead the way, Fathom." He bowed his head slightly, and took a small sidestep, allowing her to take the lead. He needed no answer, as he would simply end up following the mare regardless. This was his bold plan. He wanted to spend more time with this strong kalona, is what he would tell himself, but deep down, he had thrown himself into her emotional trap. His age and lack of experience might just become his downfall, but for all he knew.... well... he just figured that he might have found himself a girlfriend!
