i've read...

Onslaught / Onslaught I
Legions / Onslaught II

8/10 - Can't wait to get the third one!

The brothers' war / Artifacts I
Planeswalker / Artifacts II

10/10 - My favorite one so far and the focal point of almost all the other books i've read so far.

The moons of Mirrodin / Mirrodin I
The darksteel eye / Mirrodin II
The fifth dawn / Mirrodin III

7/10 - Wasn't bad but the ending kinda sucks i want to know more about where they came from and what their going to do next. sad It also bothered me that throught the entire series they never mentioned alot of the creature types on the cards.

Assassin's blade / Magic Legends Two I
Emperor's Fist / Magic Legends Two II
Champion's trial / Magic Legends Two III

9/10 - Pretty good though has little relation to the rest of the books other than it's on dominaria. Very interesting story line thought it may start off somewhat boring and uses japanese names like kamigawa.

I sujest everybody read the artifacts cycle, almost eveything seems to revolve around Urza and the brother's war, even mirodin and oddyssy/onslaught are related to it in a small way to it. That and i like Gix incase you couldn't tell. mrgreen

So far, I've read:

Invasion
Oddisey and Torment
Onslaught Block's
Mirrodin Block's
Kamigawa Block's
Ravnica

I really like the flavor it adds to the game but, book-wise they're not so great. Ravnica has a good sense of humor, some people have compared it with Terry Prachett's books, specially with Ankh-Morpok, due to the Guilds and Social structure.

i have never played the game, but i agree with you when it comes to the subject of the books being not so great.

I'm currently reading the first book in the Ravnica series. After that I might backtrack to reading Heretic: Betrayers of Kamigawa and maybe a few from the older sets.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot...

I've also read Arabian Nights (yes it's not a mtg book, but they made an expansion out of it).

Yeah, but if you look it up, there is a story behind arabian nights.

ive read every book from odessey on, and here are my thoughts, by block

odessey - ok, not all that great, but it passed the time
onslaught - amazing, possibly the best 3 magic books
mirrodin - sucked a**
kamigawa - also amazing, but not as much as onslaught
ravnica - meh, the first book was ok, but as the whole block hasnt been released yet ill reserve my judgement

I've only read the Kamigawa books, but the Mirrodin sucks alot do to the replies I've been getting, and the Onslaught books are also vary good for multiple reasons, mostly because all my friends have read them.

Well, almost finished the Guildpact book. So far the first half is pretty slow and boring and in the second Teysa seems like a different person... tsk tsk tsk

I hate it when they change authors in the middle of a series. That was the biggest problem in Mirrodin, the whole third book they might as well have had half the characters die and replace them...O wait, they did. X_x
