Junko blinked and leaned back a little as Deacon leaned down, not out of disgust or anything like that but rather out of politeness to give him room. That's what he needed, right? He was leaning in but he needed breathing room! Though Yaya did like to get very close and personal, sometimes more than Junko would like but she wouldn't admit it for her new friend's sake, so perhaps Deacon was the same way? Oops! But at his question she blushed, reaching to nervously play with a lock of hair that wasn't there. Right! Right...she'd put her hair up tonight. "Um..I'm not sure. Whatever...happens?" Luckily Calder interrupted them after that and she suddenly found a heart-shaped sticker stuck to her. She blinked, looking down at it and then looking to Calder for explanation. Oh! So she got to sit and relax? Okay then. Oh, wait she didn't get to relax. She had to chatter with people. Right! Right...this was a dating thing. She'd heard about the personals board from Rain when she gave her little speech at her campaign booth, and it seemed Calder here knew about it too probably?

When directed to she sat down at an empty seat, folding her hands neatly on her lap and waiting patiently for her first...er...suitor? Was that what they were supposed to be calling each other? She hummed softly and looked around, fiddling nervously with the edge of her skirt.

Tahki felt her face flush red the instant that she was called out for the oddness of her behavior. Braum was quick and to the point which honestly Tahki had to admit she admired some how. Tahki bit her lip and unlaced her fingers.

"I-I..." The snow white gryphon looked away for a moment gathering what little courage she could muster. The golden orbs returned their focus on Braum as quickly as they had gone.

"I heard what you said in class today about undead.... I politely disagree with your statements... but I don't agree that all demons are snobs either.. Oh dear..." Tahki blushed even more. Had she said to much? Oh no! Did she hurt his feelings! Tahki couldn't have that!

"I-I mean! I don't know you or anything.. I don't think your a bad person!" Why was she shouting? Tahki quickly grasped her mouth. Braum probably thought she was psychotic at this point, "I just.. I just.. I umm.. don't agree." Tahki sunk into her shoulders some quite ashamed of her self.

Braum could not help himself. He wanted to, but he couldn't. What she'd said had sparked an inevitable reaction in him, and it was not something he could take back, just like he obviously couldn't take back what had happened in Sex Ed.

He laughed.

A deep, rumbling, masculine sound, even when he hid his face in his palms, still laced together in a hammock while he lost his composure. Perhaps it was the polite way that she'd disagreed with him, or maybe it was her immediate shy nature blazing on through like a neon sign screaming "I AM UNSURE OF MYSELF AND FEEL BAD FOR WHAT I JUST SAID", though if anything, the raum encouraged her opposing view. With a dwindling chuckle, he placed his thumb to the corner of his mouth and looked up at her with mirth in his eyes. If nothing else, than to reassure her that he was not angry in the least.

"I kindly accept your opinion, and would like to clarify that while it is true I am not a number one fan of the gravewalkers, I am not going to apologize for my behavior. My political views had nothing to do with tearing down that wretch of a female, for I REFUSE to call her a lady. Anyone who's petty enough to pick a fight, then take her aggression towards ME out on my companion, is quite frankly not worth a second thought in my measure. Though I DO apologize if I hurt you, or someone you know with my callous remark. I lost myself a bit.....I wanted to hurt her, and lashed out in a very direct and crude way," he explained, his tone even and calm, showing no sign of his bitterness towards Samantha, while keeping it clear she was the one he'd been intending to offend.

He knew he'd offended others in the room, that had been obvious, but he wanted to make it clear that he hadn't meant to. There'd only been one person he'd been aiming to kick in the proverbial groin, and he'd simply chosen the easiest thing to pick on.

That, and he'd been raised in a blatantly racist home and neighborhood, so jokes and comments like that had been fairly common where he'd come from. He had since learned because of this incident to keep his political adgenda and racial preferences more discreet. He offered her a small smile and a slight nod.

"I commend your bravery in standing up to me though, and applaud your civility. There are others who would not have handled such a direct question so gracefully,"
he complimented.

Braum had explained the circumstances so calmly yet with a confidence that could be felt even with the calm. Braum even called her brave which made her already red face turn a shade of pink. Tahki felt her self straighten some in her chair before she even realized what she was doing.

"T-thank you for being so understanding," The gryphon lowered her eyes some feeling bashful and a little confused. Braum was defending his friend just like Tahki had just done with the out burs. Tahki couldn't fault Braum for wanting to protect his companion like she wanted to protect Amrita. Braum even described the out lash as crude which also got him some brownie points.

After a small moment of awkwardness Tahki opened her mouth again. "You know you seem alright." Tahki gave the demon a small smile. "I-I mean if your willing to protect your friend. Who was wrong or right doesn't matter its none of my business but I admire your strength," She looked off else where for a moment feeling the confusion calming. "I want to be strong one day too."

Tahki felt an awkward chill start to creep back up her spine. The gryphon was talking much more then she normally did right now.

Braum nodded, accepting her view of the situation, and her sort-of compliment on being 'alright'. He was surprised to hear her say he was 'strong' though. Arrogant, self-serving, dominant, overbearingly protective, and narcicistically confidant, yes, but he'd never seen himself as 'strong'. Not in the gallant way she was obviously thinking of. He was no knight in dark armor. He was no rogue prince. He truly was a b*****d, through and through, albeit a gentlemanly one. He mentally frowned. Check this one off the list of 'love em and leave em' he'd been intending to make through this entire thing. For some reason, something in him stirred that WANTED her to think of him that way. For if just one more person believed he wasn't a cad, perhaps someday it would be somewhat true.

"Strength is an admirable goal......though I think you confuse my confidence for it. You could do with a little confidence in yourself, really. Not only is it a good first step towards your ultimate goal, but you're a very lovely looking individual, so you have every right to be a tiny bit vain. There's also the fact that you have a great deal of tact, something I cannot claim to have certainly, but is a valuable asset to many others.......I don't rightfully know you, but I'm sure there are other admirable qualities about you, Miss Tahki." he admitted, inclining his head to her gratefully in acknowledgment of the compliment, but reinforcing his own views subtly.

"Forgive me, I've been monopolizing the conversation. Please, tell me about YOU,"
he pushed gently, staring at her intently with interest, his wings repositioning themselves as if settling in for a good long story. This WAS about the girls talking about themselves, an act he assumed they'd all love to do. But it was obvious Tahki needed ushering, and gentle encouragement to boost her confidence. Like a fledgling that hadn't yet learned to fly, she was unsteady, and just needed a little push.

Chuppi had filled out her name tag (and promptly lost it in the scuffle, but she knew people would know her as the Vice President) and was now sitting in one of the chairs, her eyes wide as Calder slapped a heart sticker on her shirt and told her to stay seated, It seemed the the people who could be her friends would be moving around instead of her having to, something that the little monster was actually thankful for. Crawling into chairs was difficult for her sometimes so being able to stay seated was a very, very good thing. Also it meant that when the others came around they wouldn't have to wait on her to get seated, so time would be wasted! Even more perfect.

Chuppi coughed a little bit as a girl was sat in front of her, someone she once again knew from her classes but someone she hadn't really spoken with. Now was the chance to change all that of course, what with how they would be talking for a little bit and becoming friends with one another. The Chupacabra was excited of that aspect and she folded her hands neatly together as she decided what to say. Maybe just saying anything at all would be good, right?

"Um. Hello. I am...Temes. It's...nice to meet you?"

Well that sounded stupid, but she couldn't think of any other way to introduce herself.

The gryphoness listened to all of what Braum had to say with out a word. Confidence to Tahki was a great attribute and one the gryphoness lacked. Tahki often doubted her self in most social situations leading to awkwardness in most cases or failure to really say what she meant. Doubt probably was the white gryphons biggest flaw because in all truth it was the route of many of her other problems.

Was Tahki a lovely looking individual? Not that the gryphon ever thought of her self as ugly before or anything like that. Just Tahki had never thought of her self as a lovely young lady. The gryphons cheeks lit up in a nice peachy pink color.

"O-oh! N-n-no you're not monopolizing the conversation!" The gryphon quickly woke from her complimented coma to reassure Braum that there was nothing wrong with him talking. The demon wanted to know about her though?

"Well.. I.. Well .. Umm.." Tahki began off a little awkwardly. What was there to know about her that was interesting? She took a short second to gather her thoughts. "M-my family runs a great deal of banks around Halloween town... The banking business has been in my family for some generations but before that my family were well known treasure guardians," This babble wasn't exactly about the gryphoness as much as it was her pedigree. It seemed like a good place to start to Tahki though.

"B-but I don't care to go into the banking business my self so I enrolled here to look into other options." Tahki paused for a moment. Had she talked for to long? "I-I rather honestly go hunt for treasure.." Another pause took hold of Tahki's rambling.

"W-what about your self Braum?" Tahki was genuinely interested in what Braum had to say about him self.

__ Colette was idly observing the other arrivals after placing her tag on her chest, and she was surprised. Half of the students who arrived seemed to know at least one other student. What did he mean 'sad and alone'? A lot of them have friends... She started to feel awkward all of a sudden, but then again that problem was why she decided to come in the first place. The Reaper watched curiously as the host plastered some heart stickers on others and was fine once she learned she didn't have to sit in the same spot the whole time.

__ On her way to her seat and potential.. acquaintance, she took a breath and tried to retain a calm demeanor. It helped that her swords had let out low purrs as to reassure her, but their good behavior usually didn't last long. Once seated thanks their articulate host, Colette adjusted her dress nervously and looked off for a moment, thinking of what to say. It was easiest to just start with the basics.

__ Returning her eyes to the ghoul seated before her, Colette began to introduce herself with a nervousness in her voice. "Uhm.. hi. I'm -- SHINKSHINK SHINK," Colette was interrupted by the loud snapping of her swords' blades and the force of their movement on her back shook her around a bit. They had caught a glimpse of the Marid she was paired with, unfortunately for Colette, and were keen on showing off. The Reaper was horribly embarrassed and tried to calm them as quickly as she could.

__ While reaching to her back to "pat" them silent, she apologized. "Ahgh.. s-sorry! They get this way when they like something. "

__ What a horrible first impression. At least it saved her from stating what her name tag made obvious?

Kasumi was happily paired with someone she already knew, and knew something about as well. To begin their little 'date', Kasumi smiled and began to titter delightfully at the Reaper, asking her a variety of questions like how the Garden Club registration was going, if she'd found any cute boils to date, what the latest fashions in Bloodsports Illustrated was. It was the typical talk of girls one might expect. "I've been well. We've been organizing a great party for Student Council... I've also been acquiring a few more dresses to add to a closet I finally have use for.."

The ghost glanced about the room and found the boy she didn't even know the name of, really, from Spirits Week. He was dressed to kill, and if she wasn't already dead... "Belladonna, who is that?" she asked nervously, making sure to keep her voice low. Belladonna was a very smart and friendly girl - she'd probably know. She knew a lot of students at the school already. "He looks quite... dashing."
PostPosted: Sun Nov 28, 2010 2:46 pm

Newly affixed with a heart sticker (did they get to give them away at the end of the night to the boil they fancied? Or ghoul if that was the case!) Belladonna pranced over to her seat and happily sat, looking at the girl next to her and leaning over to quickly compliment her dress before Kasumi joined her.

"Hey cutie~" Belladonna greeted in her most lecherous voice, since Kasumi was one of her very best friends. They chatted over various things, Belladonna happy to start the evening out in comfort and not being tossed someone she didn't know very well and be forced into awkward conversation where she informed the new person she had a baby, but it wasn't a really baby but instead a school project and they shouldn't worry because it wasn't a real baby and she didn't already have a husband or something. Yeah, that would have been too weird.
"Oh! That reminds me! I started you a new dress. I know you like cream colored things--" Or, well, she was used to wearing cream colored things since her asylum outfit was cream, "--But I threw some deep blue in there. Come by my room sometime and I'll get it all fitted to you and finished!" But then Kasumi was lowering her voice and saying something and Belladonna looked to the table that was next to them, but opposite the girl in the cute kimono.

"Oooooh, that's Braum." Belladonna cooed, leaning over the table to be closer to Kasumi and propping her head on her palm. "Isn't he just so dashing? I quite like that outfit." She interjected a Girly Teen SighTM into her speech and continued to make goo-goo eyes at him for a few moments before she decided it was best to not do that in case he happened to look at her table. Then a thought occurred that made Belladonna's stomach drop a bit. "Do you... Do you fancy him?" It was best to use old fashion terminology when speaking of romance.

Ah, hey, it was Tahki. Coralie was surprised the girl had plucked up the courage to come to this sort of thing. Or maybe she hadn't been sure what she was getting into. Looking around the room, though, there weren't many guys so it was probably going to be a snooze anyway or at least pretty tame. Was Julian here...? If was than maybe that would at least remedy it where the other ghoul was concerned...

She opened her mouth to say something to her, but before she could get anything out of her mouth Calder had shuffled her off to her first table. Oh well, she'd talk to her later, perhaps.

Coralie sat down at the table in front of the familiar chuppicabra girl. She'd met her before a couple of times, but they'd never talked for long, if at all. Well, her was their chance, she supposed. "Temes? I think we've met one or twice, but man does your name get lost in it, for some reason." Coralie tipped her hat in a joking manner and smiled, "Name's Coralie, Cora is better though." Wilfred had decided to be quiet, probably because Coralie was currently talking to a nice girl which seemed completely nonthreatening to the lecturing hat.

Hadiyya was late. Absoultely, 100% late. She couldn't even have called it fashionable, she was just that unforgivably late. The reason? The marid had managed to loose track of all time while fussing over herself in the mirror. She'd started getting ready with plenty of time to spare, but after a few changes of clothing, make up, and a lovely spread of expertly applied henna over the tops of her bare feet and up her calves, well.. The time just sort of got away with her.

She didn't even arrive in time to catch Calder's instructions. Slipping in, hopefully unnoticed, she made straight for the table with the names listed on it. Apparently she was paired with a Colette. The name wasn't familiar.

Frowning softly, she glanced up from the list and out towards the gathered students. They were beginning to pair up at the many little tables, but there were a few still standing, assumidely looking for their first "date". Perhaps she wasn't the only one to arrive late? Another frown wormed it's way over her lips. She spotted Braum, but he was busy talking to someone else, and it would be rude to interrupt his conversation. She hovered near the table, dark fingers smoothing down the folds of her skirts. A nervous gesture, if you happened to know the demoness well.

She felt unusually awkward standing there, searching the crowd for a name tag to match the name beside her's on the list. Finally she spotted the other ghoul, a pretty thing with long, dark hair and a pair of wicked looking swords strapped to her back. Sighing in relief, the marid made her way over and took a seat, smoothing her skirts beneath her thighs as she did so.

It was as the other was introducing herself that she heard the most unusual noise. Like blades sliding along eachother. It made her look up from her lap, dark brows arching over swimming blue eyes. "Something the like?"

Not good. Not good, not good, not good, not good! Tess had been fretting over what she would be wearing to the Dash Dating that she had completely lost track of time! Once she managed to decide on her clothing (a classic little black and red number with a black, velvet choker), she soared from her dorm room towards the Home-Ick room, and arrived when Calder had just finished the tail end of his speech. She missed the part about crying into her pillow (she'd been sleeping upside-down) and finding one's "one and only", which would have made her frown in disapproval at the kelpie's words. But since she only heard the part where they were being paired off, she went to her designated seat and found herself hovering (no legs meant no thighs or hips with which to actually sit) in front of the boil named Deacon.

"Good evening, I apologize for my tardiness," the winged vampire began with a small, nervous smile, "I'm Maritess, but I go by Tess," she explained, then promptly realized she hadn't the slightest clue what to talk about with a boil she wasn't related to. So she went to her fall-back method: deflect, deflect, deflect. "So tell me about yourself," her crimson eyes quickly dart to his name-tag, "Deacon."

__Colette twisted around in her seat as best she could manage, attempting to show the ghoul exactly who caused the interrupting noise and Colette's burst of wiggling.

__Pointing at the obedient and now calm swords, she attempted to explain. "Well, something being.. a lot of paper for example. Though in this case it's probably more like a someone.. usually pretty ghouls cause this sort of reaction. Most likely you, honestly. Heh.." The last bit of sound that had crept from her was far from a comfortable chuckle. It was more like an awkward cushion, hoping to ease the possible idea of the Marid thinking the situation as strange. Moreover, Colette didn't want to be thought of as a repulsive sort of strange herself. The swords had happily resorted to a cooing purr and Colette deemed it proper to return to her former posture.

__"So.. yeah. Hi. My name is.. well," she pointed to the name tag on her chest, "Colette. As you can see." The reaper was still awfully nervous and hadn't a clue what to talk about. "So, ..." Colette took a moment to try and find a tag somewhere on the ghoul she was designated to spent her time with, but her sentence just dragged on as she couldn't spot it. The slight darting of her eyes and mouth left slightly agape didn't do her any good either.

Dark brows arched thoughtfully as she gave the swords a lingering glance. A reaper. Well that would explain the tingling of magic marking along her bare skin, and the draw.. All proper demons sought power, it was in their DNA, and reapers were filled to bursting with it. Younger ones in particular held an attractive amount of untapped potential.

Dark features gave a little pinch that turned into a pleased little smile. "Your swords are very sweet."

Folding delicate hands along the top of the table, the marid sat up a little straighter as Colette gave her a proper look over. It took a second or two for her to realize the other ghoul was searching for a name tag. She'd been so late she hadn't bothered to grab on. "I'm Hadiyya, and it's a pleasure to meet you." She turned her smile up a few notches. "So," she countered, softly. "How are you liking your time here at the academy?" It may not have been the most "date-savvy" question, but it would provide a good lead to conversation, and that was the point, right?

Besides, despite the setting, she wouldn't assume that every person that sat before her was interested in dating -her-, or at all. Not every liked demons, or same members of the same sex, and not everyone would have had romance on the brain when agreeing to attend. She herself had just found it a fun idea.
