Ms. Lia smiled, "Don't worry Rito, I promise to protect you to the best of my ability, and if I don't I'll die trying and make sure somebody else can take care of you." She patted his head and gave him a reassuring smile.

Ms. Lia gave Rito a smile, but beneath that smile she knew when the time came, she would sacrifice her life to protect Rito. It's different, he's a student, and this time I won't stand around doing nothing. I will protect him with all my might. she thought sternly. "Just make sure to be careful when you lurk around in the darkness." She fished through the things on the ground and pulled out a protection charm, "Here, take this. Just in case...when you're in danger, I'll try to protect you. No, I will protect, not try. I promise you, Rito."

Rito took the charm and smiled a fake smile. He was not going to let another parent die because of him.

Lia looked at Rito and thought, He might only be a couple years younger, but he's gone through so much more than I have. She sighed and tried comforting him, "Fine Rito, I promise I'll stay out of harm's way for you, but if you're in a life/death situation, I WILL protect you."
