He slowly moved with the horse, watching out for his feet and trying not to crowd around her. The last thing he wanted was to make Fallon nervous, but he also didn't want her to sense he was also nervous, which was hard to do when he felt edgy around her. Her large hooves, rippling muscles, and foreign movements made him free or pull back a little every so often. For a sweet, gentle animal, she was still a large horse that could easily crush him if she wanted. Not that she looked like it, but on accident, she could crush a leg, trample on his ribcage, or smash his head in like a overly-ripe pumpkin.

The images were not pleasing ones, and he assured himself with the facts that this horse was used to be beginners, was tame, safe, and that he had an instructor who knew what she was doing.

At the request to move her on his own, he looked over to the girl and then back the horse, who was chewing on it's reigns at the moment.

"Okay." And with that, he slowly moved away from his instructor and started to navigate around the fenced-in area.

"Um...you are a very pretty horse." He said, looking at Fallon as she trotted beside him. "...I like your hair. Someone must really love you to put ribbons in it. I wouldn't have picked purple, but that's just me. They are cute." He struggled to think of something to say. "...I hope we can get along nicely together. I hope I don't make you nervous." Fallon continued to trot, not seeming to be all to concerned with what he had to say, but she didn't looked annoyed either.

"Fallon is a very nice name." He thought of words that calmed horses, and looked up at her. "You're a good horse. A real good horse." Talking to horses was pretty hard when you didn't know what to say. He probably sounded like an idiot.

Ariel was observing the team in front of her, ready in case anything happened. Because well anything could happen; a bee coming too close and Fallon would panic. But everything was fine, it looked like Ladon was even making the effort to speak with her, a lot of new student wouldn’t bother, thinking it was stupid, they were wrong. Animals were sensible to voice and when they got used to someone voice they will listen better to orders.

They were both doing pretty well, so she clapped her hands to ask them to come back near her. As they did, she checked if all the saddle were well in place and turned back to Ladon.

“Mister Shepard you are doing pretty well. Ready to ride?” she looked at him with her caring bicolor eyes. “Only if you feel you can. We will just make the same round as you just did, but with you on Fallon’s back”.

First time riding was important. If the student was feeling afraid it may result to a fall. “Of course I will be by your side all the time, keeping the harness in hands.”

Ladon was completely shocked that he would be riding so quickly. Stopping, he looked at the horse and how high up she was and then back at her. True. Fallon had not jerked or made any dangerous or nervous movements around him. In fact, a car horn could have sounded off and she seemed the type of horse that wouldn't even flick her tail in annoyance. Still, riding on the first day? He was a little worried.

"You mean now? Right now?" He looked up. From what he was hearing, it would be more that he would sit on the horse while his tutor lead the horse around, but that brought up another concern. "I don't even know how to get up on a horse." He'd never shoved himself up on one. He had an idea. Foot in foothold and haul yourself up, but he wasn't known for his upper body strength. Actually, he wasn't know for any body strength.

Ariel laughed a little.
"Well it is not really riding. You will just be sitting on Fallon and we will walk inside this field together. The difference is you will be on her back not on her side".

She smiled with a reconforting smile. "If you don't feel like trying I can understand. But you have a good alchemy with Fallon so it would be worth trying.”

She touched the horse noise and then told her something in the ear. The horse nodded and then sat down on the ground. “She is waiting for you”.

"Well....if we're just walking around." As long as he wasn't required to keep her from sprinting off. It was just he'd seen enough comedies involving horses where the horse got spooked by a bee or some pest and the once-timid horse jumped over a fence and ran into a field as they dragged their passenger. He hoped that wouldn't happen. He hoped Fallon had a bad hip and couldn't make these jumps and she felt no compulsion to run at any time.

Approaching, he struggled to get on the horse and, after some help, managed to get on her saddle. It was high up, even with her being on the ground, and he held tightly to the saddle as he looked at her. "Just around, right?" He asked, tense as he sat there. Clearly Ladon would have never made it as a cowboy.

"Just around" replied Ariel cheerfully. It was so courageous from Ladon to accept it made her happy.

She said something again to Fallon and the horse started to stand on her legs. Really slowly and without abrupt movement. Taking care of her passenger.

Then when she was firmly on her legs, Ariel took the harnest in her hand and started walking. Fallon trotted on her side quietly.

"How are you feeling? " she asked Ladon, because it was a different feeling to ride an horse than well driving a moto or something else.

A soft trot at best, Ladon was still wide eye and holding onto the saddle with a white grip. The small bumps of movement spooked him, but he tried to breathe deep and remain calm. Not only was he on a tame horse, but with a trainer who had the reigns. More or less, he was riding the equivalent of a kid's carnival ride, going in a circle and being more than supervised on such a small trip. Really, he should have thought himself silly over having his heart hammer this quickly.

When asked, he looked up and smiled. Giving a nervous laugh, he nodded. "I'm good. Just a little high up." Really high up. He felt that he was trying to gain his balance atop the horse more often than not as it shifted under him.

Everything went well. It was good. Well Ladon and Fallon had a good alchemy and Fallon was one of the nicest horses in the center so no wonder.
"That is good to hear" she replied at the man sitting high up.

They walked around few more turn so he could get use to the way a horse was walking. In general for first lessons she would already ride too by the student side but she had always thought it depend on the student. Some needed to start slowly other quickly.

She liked the slowly type more actually. Because they take time to communicate with the horse, not just came, ridded and then left.

Ariel thought Ladon was riding enough for the first time, so she stopped the horse.
"Ok Mister Sheppard. The walking lesson is over." she smiled at him while making Fallon sat down again. And offer her hand to help him going down.
"I think we will keep the riding alone lesson for next time ?" she asked softly. If he was ready to try she will let him do. If not she would understand. And she knew that he will have muscle aches already with this littles rounds.

Ladon slipped off the horse slowly, taking Ariel's offered hand and moving away. It was strange to get off a horse, but he managed without stumbling. Standing up, he smiled, glad he managed that little escapade without falling off, freaking out, or getting someone hurt. He was still in one piece and so was everyone and everything else. He didn't even need a helmet!

"Thanks. It wasn't that bad at all. Just a little strange. You keep rocking when she moves." Not to mention he didn't know if he should wear a cup next time. He was a little sore, but not as much as he would be later when he laid down. For now, he just straightened out his back. "Thank you. Will you be here for another lesson next time I want to try?" he didn't want to meet different people, and she was very nice.

"I will be here. You just need to call and come a week end. Because I am student and the week I am at school."
she smiled. She actually just come back on week ends when her mother needed her help to teach beginners.

"Oh and next time you will need to wear the riding hat. We have a stock so you don't need to bring one".

While she was talking she walked back toward the stabble and put off Fallon's saddles.

"Then....I guess I'll see you then. Thanks for helping me." He looked to Fallon, who was standing nicely for the girl as she took off the saddle. "Goodbye, Fallon. You're a good horse." And with that, he waved goodbye and headed out. For his first ride, it wasn't that bad. He was still alive after all.
