The Reality ◑ The Delusion - - - - - - -Her head pounded, it pounded very hard, and she was sure she felt a lump on her forehead the size of a dollar coin. Emery sniffled and cooed to herself in self pity. The foot steps went away at least. Something about sardines and tacos and the curly toed man was quiet. Why had he stopped talking? It filled the silence that – that wasn't so silent when a new voice spoke up. Turning watery eyes upwards, she saw a little girl. “Owe..” She mumbled again in sympathy to herself, hoping maybe the girl would take on the roll of babying. “The trashcan.. it hit my head..” The area was very tender and she only made it worse by touching it again and again, as though any moment she touched it once more it'd magically be gone. So, Emery continued to inflict more pain from her childish hope the lump was going to disappear, dragging more sniffles, owes, and whimpers out of her. Who was the little girl again? Was she the daughter to – She pressed on the lump again. It really hurt.

Bingo! Maybe he could score a free meal out of this too~! The man was all a smile when he nodded and followed the woman inside, keeping his hat to his chest just to be polite. He would have taken his shoes off too, but, well, the woman didn't seem like she had a lick of Asian in her! Those were the ones who were quirky like that, right? Yeah, he was certain. He headed into the kitchen and stole a look around. Kitchen, living room, and dining seemed all in the same place. Convenient. However, he had to wonder just how Emery would get inside to start the..
“...Plan...” He murmured out as, through the door leading out to the back of the house, he saw a certain little girl talking with another certain teenage girl. He paled for a moment and forced a steady swallow – ah. Uh. No, no, keep calm, Bennie, keep calm. The plan wasn't ruined. Not yet. He was a cool guy, could always keep in control! He just needed to take advantage of this.. somehow..
He dropped his hat and swept an arm over his head in a dramatic gesture of surprise as he pointed to the window leading outside, “Love a duck!” He gasped out and hurriedly marched his way to the door, pausing to give a worried look at the girls outside. “Would you look at – I'm sorry, miss, I didn't think she would..” He started to apologize to Gail, giving her a hopeless look in sympathy. Could the man act or what? Maybe he'd make more money that way, but this was much more fun than any stage~

A devious little smirk slipped over little Molly's lips as she peered at this girl in her back yard before grabbing her by the wrist and YANKING her into the house. If her head hurt, she'd made the excuse of getting her ice, just to see that panicked look on that cocky man's face. "Hey Mom! Zach! I found a girl in the back yard and she hit her head on our trash can... where's the ice pack?" Yes, she seemed so innocent just asking for that, but Bennie would probably catch on to her motives for being nice. It would benefit her, that's why she was being nice. Gail blinked a few times in shock, as did Zach. The older brother knew that Molly had been suspicious and rude to this man, and Gail remembered something mentioned about a younger sister. Was it possible the girl that was out back was his sister? Of course, Gail was too sweet a person to assume that they were up to something, unlike her snippy daughter. The mother let out a long sigh, shaking her head before laughing slightly and getting the ice pack for the girl. She set it lightly on the lump on the girl's head, "You should really be more careful, lots of valuable things are kept in your head, and hitting it hard enough does brain damage..." Yeah, Gail was such a Mom to the sick and wounded. It was just in her caring nature. Her eyes then peered over at Bennie, as if asking him silently if this girl was 'following him'. She knew that sometimes Molly stalked her older brother, especially if she thought he might be going to see someone of the opposite gender, so once more, it didn't phase her that it could be anything but something sweet and cute like that. Zachary rolled his eyes at his mother's kindness. The woman really was naive sometimes, and now the boy was a bit on alert for suspicious behaviors, since Molly generally didn't lie to him. Sure, she had a bad attitude, and swore a lot for being as young as she was, but eh, these things come when you're angry about one thing or another.

The Reality ◑ The Delusion - - - - -Looking hopeless and lost at the long legged pace of the much taller people, the little short curly toed man seemed to disappear as she was yanked along by a nine year old girl with unusual strength – or maybe just that Emery didn't fight at all, even went along with it. Why, this was the normal babying she was used to, being raised by a bunch of boys and not so there sister made that the normal. She took a second to acknowledge the other boy in the room, but not much of her cognitive thought went into that process, the most of it was on her dreadful, oh so painful, dire wound. Going along with the girl, as she would her brothers, following along as she would be told what to do and – and an ice pack was placed on her forehead for her as a smooth voice flowed comfortably into her ears. The cooling ice stung, it just made her wanna cry more as the pressure and icey touch melted down onto the pulsing bruise. Her fingers twitched as she kept her hands from swiping the bag away and her eyes were squeezed shut, a few whimpers of more self pity and she.. felt better. It was going numb and the head ache softened, enough so she was brave enough to open the watery pools to see reflecting of something of awe - the most interesting woman that was occupying a gaze with her brother.
She had heard the woman talking, but Emery was used to ignoring voices since so many people always came to talk to her, but this one was different. She was being babied in a whole new way.. Was this even babying? No, there had to be a whole new word for this it brought such confusion on Emery. She'd figure it out later. Sniffling, she wiped some loose mucus that threatened to show itself on her sleeve and looked about her now that her head didn't hurt so badly. Her brother, the little girl, another boy, and the lovely lady.
“Hi.” She called out into the room, her voice was awkwardly pushed to be louder, like a toddler that didn't know how to judge the size of voice one should use in an appropriate situation. In this situation, Emery shouted a tad too loud. The curly toed man was back, and griping about sardines and tacos once more. She looked down at him, narrowing her eyes as she had recognized the kitchen and his offer might be taken seriously by the people.
“I don't like sardines, please don't cook them.” This was towards the wonderful woman. She spared a glance at the little girl who acted so much like her family did. This little girl was like Emery's savior that pulled her from her misery in the smelly place between two trashcans and a pulsing head ache. "Hi." She stated again, a soft smile curving her lips accompanied by a giggle of enjoyment that her head ache was leaving. It was feeling so much better!

Oh, good move, little girl. Bennie's eyes had narrowed behind those green-tinted shades of his, something akin to a twinkle in his eye at the challenge. What? So she was eight or six or something, it didn't mean he looked down on her intelligence. Molly was acting sharper than several adults he'd known – definitely smarter than someone like Gail. Dragging in a random child from her backyard to help her in this day and age? It was like she was asking for someone to take advantage of that kindness! A question that Bennie would surely answer! In the end, he would be teaching the woman a lesson.. and the little girl, he added silently with a glance at the child. Zachary was all but completely forgotten by this point – poor kid, but maybe it was a good thing for the Boyer's that he wasn't taken into account.
“She's right, Em. Have to be careful..!” He agreed with nothing but concern in his voice as he strode forward a few steps to lean over her under the guise of 'checking'. Oh, not that he wasn't worried, but he had taken several spills as a lad – it wasn't like she would die from this little bump. He lowered his voice and spoke to Emery while lifting the ice pack to look at the bump. Ah, nasty bump, wasn't it? Really slammed her cranium hard, didn't she..? “This'll go pear-shaped if you don't stop arsing about, Em..” The tone should be low enough for only the redhead to hear and, even if they did, he doubted if they could even understand what it was he meant. He used Gail's wrist to lower the icepack onto the girl's bump once again softly and turned on his heel. “I am sorry, she's not supposed to be out and about like this.. She normally behaves so well.” He informed them, his eyes on Gail considering she was the 'ruler' of the home. “But, the fact that she did worries me – you know, it helps me believe in what I had thought..” He paused, looked up and took a deep breath. Now, just wait for someone's curiosity to pique..

Gail chuckled softly at the girl's comment about sardines, "I don't like them either dear, so no worries..." It was as if the woman was purposefully avoiding Bennie's lead in lines. She wasn't as dumb as she seemed. Kind, first and for most, but she was a mother, so she could generally see through people more than they knew. Molly smirked a little over at Bennie, amused that his lines kept getting ignored... But then. "Oh, it's fine, would you two like to stay for dinner?" Both children were kind of annoyed now, Zach not showing it nearly as much as Molly. But then again, Molly always looked pissy, mainly because she was...

The Reality ◑ The Delusion - - - - -Emery liked the idea of eating food, especially food that had nothing to do with sardines. Her stomach had been awfully hungry during the duration of the visit here and whatever scent of delectable food had been mingling in the air like a fog had gotten Emery's attention now that her head ache subsided. Without checking with her older brother, Emery stared at the mom with a wide grin that displayed a row of teeth accompanied by a giggle of delight. “Yes, please!” What a nice, pretty, lady this woman was! And, as attracted she was to the older woman, was she just as she was enamored with the little girl, so she turned her optimism toward her. The little girls obvious presentation of displeasure not a bothering thought in Emery's head, nope, to Emery that look wasn't even a cognitive thought to be had. She was too excited about food to think anyone else could possibly not be excited!

..Did she not.. Hear him? Bennie's brow creased and he stared at the woman quietly while Emery exhibited her excitement. Oh, yes, please, they should join them for dinner. When something horrible could be happening to their very home! But did the mother care? No. She was too dim to even recognize he was trying anything! The man felt a tiny spark of frustration, especially when Molly threw a smirk his way, but he had learned to deal with stupid people pretty well. His whole work consisted of using them, after all! He just had to learn patience and exercise it whenever it was necessary, such as just then. His smile assured to be in place, the man nodded, “'andsome idea, luv.” He was hoping for a meal beforehand, it wasn't like he could get mad because she was a slow person; some were born with smarts, some weren't~ “You have some hospitality for a woman on her own.” He commented, just another shot at enticing the woman's curiosity. Which was starting to seem futile..

Gail smiled at his comment, "And I suppose that wouldn't change if I weren't a single mother..." They'd been doing quite fine on their own, and if her lover that gave her Zach was still with her, well, she'd probably be even more happy and friendly. Then she would have him to um... protect her? or something like that? Well, right now she had Zach to do that now that he was getting older and right now, he moved through the kitchen to get some plates. "So I should set the table for two extra people?" he asked with a slight smirk. "Where will you two want to sit?" giving them the option to sit where they wanted... Bennie would probably want to sit next to Gail, and the other girl next to Molly and Gail... Speaking of Molly, she leaned over to Emery, "you can sit next to me if you want~"

The Reality ◑ The Delusion - - - - - Emery blinked big, clueless, eyes as the dim girl had failed to keep attention around her as a butterfly had gone by the window, attracting all of Emery's cognitive thinking ability to figure it was pretty and how fun it'd be to be a butterfly before the birds woke. Looking toward the first moving object, she looked at the male that she wasn't certain who he really was, watched him in a confused daze as butterflies hovered about her thoughts. Butterflies wings are torn too easy, and their legs can be plucked off like daisies from the grass. Emery frowned and looked around the room for the source of the voice who had ruined her day dreaming of pretty butterflies. Her eyes were on the little girl who had spoken and attracted her attention. What did she say? She stared at the girl for a moment, waiting for her brain to catch up. It did – and she smiled; a very big smile.
Nodding vigorously, she exclaimed, “Yes!” glancing at her brother with a silent message of 'I made a friend' shown through her proud, toothy, grin.

Bennie nodded and actually smiled back at her smile. She was pretty nice for a woman on her own, he was being honest! But, she was an idiot, he had to remember. Just another fool to let him inside~ Too slow to even pick up on his carefully laid schemes! But, after a nice meal of being kind, gentle people, he would be able to figure something out. He just needed to get a feel for how honestly stupid this woman was. There were several different kinds of it, one should know!
“I'll have to sit next to the bird.” He replied to the boy with a quick nod, fulfilling his prediction easily enough. He didn't have an interest in sitting near Molly, not when Emery seemed so happy to do so for him, and the boy may pick up on something if they chatted too much. Plus, the teen wasn't the one holding the bank book. The mother was. Without further ado, he took Emery by the arm and started to lead her to the table with him, just so they could get this started already. Really, the girl was so.. out of it half of the time. He let go of her at the table and stood, waiting for the brunette to sit down first. “So, you blokes been here for long?” The house seemed fairly new.. or it could just be really spiffy. He could hardly tell the difference nowadays.

Zach finished setting the table as Gail finished up preparations, also known as putting the sauce on the damn noodles. It was cheese tortellini of course, with your normal marinara sauce. It was all good. There were loaves of fresh bred on the table, slice so perfectly. Was it obvious that the woman worked as a professional baker? Maybe... At any rate, once everything was mixed together she brought the main pot over to the table and set it in the center before directing Bennie to the seat next to her. Zachary sat at the head of the table as usual, and Molly across from her mother. "Uh, no, we're actually fairly new to town," replied Gail as she started to serve the man his share of pasta. It was a good thing she always made extra! You never know when you'll have unexpected guests. She always kind of hoped for the kind of life where people would show up to her house randomly during dinner and stay. Maybe it was too many old movies and such that had worn on her like that, but this was nice, having unfamiliar faces around. Maybe that just made her strange for wanting to see the kindness in strangers. Molly pulled the other girl over to sit next to her, so that she was across from her mother. In a way, the brat was happy that someone was there that didn't treat her like she was stupid, or rather, didn't treat her like she was stupid, but talk to her in a way that belittled her. There was a reason Molly really hated most adults, aside from her mother. Just because she's young and short she had to be naive and moronic? No, the girl thought herself smarter than her mother most of the time, which is why it annoyed her so much when they would talk to her like a child and then her mother like an adult. She felt it should be the other way around with how stupid Gail was... inviting people they didn't know to stay for dinner. Oi~ Zach just kind of sat back and watched the show. His mother was a super kind and warm hearted person. It made her a little stupid sometimes, but he had a hunch she wasn't all as gullible as she'd like people to think she was. And then there was Molly, sitting over there with her new friend, totally a ticking time bomb as she occasionally shot death glares over at Bennie. Really, he didn't seem like that bad a guy, but there was something a little off about him that the teen couldn't put his finger on. Maybe it was that accent that was bothering him?

The Reality ◑ The Delusion - - - - - At this points, Emery was forgetting the entire plan and getting lost in a pleasant visit with nice people. Maybe if she had just enough thinking space to wonder what she was doing in the house in the first place, she'd eventually connect the dots and be a help to her brother in the plan this time. Or in this case, Emery didn't want to remember the plan, so she didn't, that wasn't hard to do, not for her. Sitting with her new friend, people gathered around the table, about to enjoy themselves together, it was like her family except instead of a delicious meal on the table, there's a corpse. The food sounded much better. As she watched the food be served, Emery's toes curled in her shoes until they hurt and she was forced to relax. Her tummy ached! But, would grabbing the food be rude? No one else was doing it.. Swallowing the excess saliva in her mouth, she distracted herself.
Looking at the male, then the girl, Emery looked pleased. The girl her friend, and the man – some random guy. Scooting closer to Molly, to the point any personal space bubble the girl had would have long popped and left existence to the messy red head. She liked the smaller girl, she had the aura of her elder brother. Strong, confident, and bossy, everything Emery thrived off of since leading herself was like leaving a blind person to wander a field of land mines. Motioning with a shy point of her finger peeking over the ridge of the table towards the newly noticed Zach, she not so mumbled to the little girl, “Your friend is big.” Emery exclaimed in a lower voice, as though the large male couldn't hear her if she just lowered her voice a level or two. Emery, now noticing his height and size, was amusing herself with images of him stomping around in a city with a monkey tail, and in his big hand would be a pretty lady.

Fairly new.. And yet they would let complete strangers into their home. Bennie couldn't help lifting an eyebrow at that, uncertain as to whether this woman was completely serious. Ah, well, dinner was dinner, he supposed – he ought to make the best of pasta~! He looked over at Emery, who seemed to be doing fine despite being in a stranger's home, and watched her for a second. His siblings often scolded him for not keeping an eye on the girl, but, really, he didn't understand just what the fuss was over her. She always seemed pretty average, if not immature. He must have been the only one of the group that didn't have a stick up his a** over her. Oh, well, he'd just focus on his work. So, he turned his eyes onto Gail again, smiling at her in a debonair manner. Of course, wearing sunglasses in the home seemed put off the whole gentleman routine, as well as the hat that had returned to his head on his walk over to the table, but Bennie didn't pay much mind to that. “Not for long? You lot are all new, then?” He paused, considered that, then moved on, “Then you haven't seen anything unusual? Blimey, that would be odd. Whole island is crawling with strange things of that sort – even the squirrels seem nutters.” He chuckled – ah, lame jokes. At least they made him smile~

Molly blinked over at the girl that spoke to her. Was she referring to Zach? The petite girl had never really thought about it that much, but her brother was rather large in side. He wasn't fat, no, he was just tall, and had broad shoulders... Well structured for a boy of his age. It was surprising that he didn't have a girlfriend... Why might that be? Oh yeah, because every one that tried to date him was either turned off by his shallow personality, or Molly herself graced them with her special brand of attitude. In the end it was probably better for Gail that Zach wasn't dating, which kind of put Molly in a tough spot. She could make her mother's life hell, or she could keep a death grip over her brother's soul... Which to choose... "Oh... that's my big brother... Zach," she explained to the girl. Yes, this girl was rather clueless and spacey, but she hadn't given Molly an reason to be hateful towards her yet... That, and it would seem that she had to suffer through dealing with that douche of a brother that was sitting next to Gail. Oi~ she almost pitied the girl for a moment, but then she figured she might actually enjoy having a brother she could argue with all the time. Molly would probably grow up to be a beast of a lawyer some day, or a politician with the love she had for arguing. ~ Zach raised an eyebrow at the two girls, catching their little conversation first before hearing the strange man with the hat and sunglasses try and feed his mother's curiosity. She'd probably bite sooner or later, and now the boy was starting to get curious at to why the grave digger was at their house anyways... Hmm~ ~ "Oh yes, I do recall hearing something about the animal around here. Um, I think it was something about here being a high chance of getting attached by a wild or exotic animal on the island... hmm, best to stay away from wooded areas I suppose?" she snickered slightly at that thought. Working at the bakery, she heard things from time to time about strange happenings in the town, so she wasn't as naive about what goes on here. Hell, there were times where down right drama went on at her place of work. Lucky for her, she stayed out of it by staying back in the back, baking up a storm. Oh yes, her job was indeed wonderful. "Of course, those are just rumors, I haven't really seem anything first hand as of yet..." unless Neil were to be counted as a strange animal of sorts. He didn't talk like a human, and believe that mole people existed, so it was possible.
