Hours of combat training with the likes of Obsidian really paid off in situations like this. Uranophane was able to deftly dodge all of Scheelite's grabby-handed maneuvers without spilling more than a couple tiny bits of the frozen treat, although Scheelite got awfully close a couple of times. Unfortunately, he was awfully persistent, continuing to grab and pester even as she started to trot backwards -- to the point where she had to summon her clipboard in her free hand to block some of his attemps at taking her ice cream.
"That depends, Scheelite," she answered, still making an effort to keep the Dippin Dots out of his hands. "You know what the say about the best things in life not being free, and I definitely wouldn't give these up for no reason. So... what are you willing to do for me in exchange for these?"

Scheelite currently had his face pressed up against the clipboard, hands reaching around it and straining to reach the ice cream. DRAT. It was so close and yet so very far. No matter how much he grabbed and reached for it he never got past snagging the tiny bits that spilled from the cup of deliciousness. He, of course, quickly ate all the bits he could catch (and even one he didn't, five second rule!) but it still wasn't as good as having the entire cup.
The question made him back up a bit and stare at her puzzedly.
And then the most wicked of grins crossed his face.
"Well gee Phaney, I guess this is the part where most people offer services, and while I DO swing that way, Zink would totally be jealous." Oh yeah, he thought Uranophane was a dude. Totally.
"So while it would be mind blowingly awesome I cannot. I CAN however offer you another mind blowingly awesome option of being my friend for alllll eternity. We could hang out and go see movies and be FRIENDS and it'll be awesome. Great friends. Whatcha say Phaney?"
Was he serious?
....
Yes, yes he was.

There were two things that Uranophane was able to glean from Scheelite's answer to her question. One: either Zink was his boyfriend or Scheelite had the delusion that he was, both possibilities of which were downright terrifying to think about. Two: Scheelite thought she was a man, and had taken her question entirely the wrong way and she would need some strong ******** brain bleach to sleep tonight jesus ******** christ.
Getting rid of the look of pure disgust on her face was akin to swallowing a big chunk of bile creeping up one's throat. Scheelite's sickeningly wide grin didn't help things at all.
And 'friends for eternity' with this Captain sounded more like an eternal damnation than eternal blessing.
"Well, then..." she started, through teeth more gritted than she thought was humanly possible, "if you want us to be friends... that means you would give me my goggles back, wouldn't you?" Oh please, oh please, oh please oh please. He could have the damn Dippin Dots, so long as she could win this bet -- even if it seemed like he'd forgotten about it!

Scheelite didn't seem to notice the horrified look on her face. Or maybe he did and just decided not to react past keeping that grin right on his face. Sometimes it was really hard to tell just what this one was thinking. Maybe she could ask Zinkenite about it some time!
There was a brief moment where it seemed like he might hand the goggles over. He had taken them off of his face, even started to extend his hand towards Uranophane.
Then he abruptly pulled them back.
"But Phaney! They're really neat and I like wearing them and you never let me. That's not very friendly. Hrmph!" The boy pouted slightly. Hey, he was just a kid after all! A very obnoxious, hyperactive, kid in a dark army. It...wasn't a good combination. Especially for those around him.
He seemed incredibly torn. The goggles were badass and he loved wearing them! But the Dippin Dots were so good. The poor kid stood there, fidgeting around nervously as he tried to reach a decision.

"I'll give you a few minutes to think, Captain," Uranophane replied. I know it's a difficult decision for you. However..."
And she produced a spoon she'd been keeping tucked into her glove, and twirled it between her fingers for a moment. "The offer isn't going to last forever. So I suggest you don't take up too much time..." Her features broke into a subtle, sadistic smirk of her own, and -- gripping the spoon in her hand, she dug into the bowl of Dippin' Dots and proceeded to take a slow, luxurious bite right in front of him.
Tick. Tock.

At that Scheelite broke into a very loud whine and fidgeted around more. It was vaguely reminiscent of a potty dance. It may, in fact, have been a potty dance. He should have sat back and thought this through. After all if Uranophane had Dippin Dots then -somewhere- here must have been selling them. It wasn't like Phaney's clipboard and goggles could magically produce frozen delights. Which was sad because that would have been one badass power.
However, when presented with something that needed (or at least it -seemed- to need) a decision right this very second Scheelite just wasn't good at thinking through the possibilities. All he knew was Uranophane had Dippin Dots, he friggin wanted them, and now she was eating them in front of him.
It was a tragedy.
"Here!" Acid eyes were wide, pleading as he swiftly held the goggles out once more. Bet be damned (not that he remembered it anyway) he wanted some ice cream yumminess!

The tables had turned momentarily, and now Uranophane was the one being entertained by the control she was exerting over the other. She took another small bite of her ice cream and watched as it made Scheelite fidget and panic and whine even more, making no effort to hide the sadistic little smirk that had crawled over her features around the spoon.
There was still plenty of it left to enjoy when she reclaimed her goggles and, true to her word, gave him the Dippin' Dots in exchange, but she was sure that she got more enjoyment out of those two bites than he would out of the entire cup. She took a moment to let him enjoy his prize, fitting her eyewear securely back on its perch on her forehead, before giving him a look as smug as the driver hybrid car.
"Looks like you lost the bet, Scheelite. And, you know what that means..."

The amount of distress one person could suffer over a simple cup of Dippin Dots was extraordinary. Scheelite was acting as though life itself depended on the act of him eating this one single cup of Dippin Dots. If he didn't clearly bombs would explode, meteors would crash, giant Sharktopus creatures would invade, and life as we know it would cease to exist.
He needed those dots.
So the second he had them in his gloved little hands he gave what was likely the happiest noise Uranophane had ever heard from the boy (it was somewhere between a squeal of joy and a shout of horray) and dug in. With the spoon. The spoon she had just been using. He didn't seem to mind.
At her statement he gave her a confused look, spoon hanging out of his mouth as he enjoyed the latest bit of his prize. Bet? Lost? Knew what that meant?
Oh! Right!
Scheelite's hand moved to smack Uranophane on the shoulder, a wide grin spreading across his face. "TAG! You're it!" And then he was gone again.
With the damn Dippin Dots.

She was waiting for realization to set into Scheelite's face, for that gleeful grin to sink into a look of despair as he acknowledged his loss. Hell, even just a little pout would have worked, but Uranophane had gotten no such thing out of any of this. Scheelite looked as maniacally happy-go-lucky as ever. Her feelings of smug satisfaction had been deflated before they could even reach their full size!
It only got worse when the other Captain took a big, gleeful bite of his prize, beamed at Uranophane -- and smacked her in the shoulder, her armor making a muffled clang! at the impact.
He wanted to play tag??
Well, fine.
Maybe this time she could catch him and beat the s**t out of him; then maybe some goddamned sense could trickle in in its place. Without further hesitation she angrily bounded after him, snarling her intents at his back.
