Nausica ~ The Beginning

It was a normal day on the small planet, which was usually reigned by the silence of the night. The tiny sun had just risen and was throwing her dim light on Nausica, whereas most inhabitants had gathered to talk a bit and take care of their social life.

Not all of them had left their huts though. A pregnant woman was leaning against the outside wall of a building and breathed heavily. A male was holding her shaky hand and tried to comfort her as best as he could. Indeed she was crying heavily and it was obvious that she was about to give birth.

"Let's go inside then." The man muttered, but the woman knew that she wouldn't be able to move. It felt a bit like destiny had preset her path and her child had to be born outside in the sun. In fact this was the aspect that made her cry. She didn't know of any ordinary child, who had been born outside at daytime.

A loud scream echoed through the air as the baby found it's way into the world.

One eye stared at the parents, who gasped in disbelief. It seemed like it only had one eyelid and it's hair was of an unusual white colour. "My baby..." The mother whispered as she received the infant.

"Awook." The father nodded as he tried to help the woman up, because it was dawning already. A meal of nice dreams would probably help her and the newborn son.

He didn't know right now what their child was to become.

Fateful Actions

Laughter filled the air and only the stars were sending their light towards the small planet. A figure was standing on a small hill, busily screwing and working on a huge machine, which looked like an oversized lamp.

"No more waiting..." Awook snarled as he petted the lamp's surface gently. The metall felt cold, but still it made him feel comfortable. This was the day he had been waiting for, his time had come finally. One eye was twitching slightly as he turned to the nightsky. "Youuu !" He hissed and leaned on his stick. "Who needs to sleep so long you scary night of my dreams !?" Awook growled and closed one eye for a moment, whereas the other one was busily moving from side to side.

He remembered days which had been horrible, because they only lasted a few hours and then everyone went to bed again. Being the only one who actually liked the light was a terrible fate nobody could understand. When he had been younger nobody was interested in playdates at night, everyone was busily dreaming and eating. At daytime they were tired and just talked about their meals. It was too much for the active blue one and he snorted heavily as he touched his white hair. Light.

Finally he had finished off his masterpiece. Everyone would be able to suffer from the same pain he had suffered from. They hated light, he hated the night. Now the night was able to become the new day.

With a soft snicker Awook pushed the button on the lamp's bottom.

Evening News : Criminal Actions

A tiny robot can be seen on the TV screen

"...and now on to the current happenings close to Nausica. This tiny planet may be well-known to you by it's famous celebration of the sleeping day, where everyone tends to sleep day and night."

A picture of Nausica flashes across the screen

"Yesterday one of it's inhabitants tried to disturb the peace by enlightening the planet."

A picture of a giant lamp appears

"Said person woke the Nausican people from their dreams and might have caused damages throughout their sleeping phase. The lamp was able to shine on the whole planet and so tried to make the night vanish."

Shows a scene of a blue person being arrested

"Luckily the criminal was able to be arrested and has been sentenced quite quickly. He will spend his time on Gaia, a very popular and crowded planet. Encaged inside a new body this will be a good way to change the criminal's mind. Nausica has been able to go to sleep again, may it stay that way."

The Phonecall

The telephone rang.

Ranjit was busily taping boxed whereas Jacosa was sitting inside the kitchen and read a book about Robin Hood.

The telephone rang again.

"Could you get it for me, Jacosa ?" Ranjit shouted as he almost taped his hand.

The otter sighed and put a bookmark between the pages before he moved towards the telephone.

"Hello ? Jacosa CaerbHall, here." The otter stated and waited for a response.

Ranjit just listened to the otter's words for a moment and he was able to hear the confusion as the boy called for him. "Ranjit ! It's for youuuuu !"

The man sighed as a furry paw handed him the telephone and thanked the boy.

"Yes, I am Ranjit I'Sam...Criminal Relocation...oh...yeah, I remember." Jacosa watched the man intensively as he ran one hand through his hair nervously. Whatever was going on, it probably was something bad.

Ranjit's mouth twitched slightly as he agreed to the person on the line. "Yeah...I'll be there as soon as we have moved...sure...thank you."

He turned the phone off and stared at Jacosa for a while with a strange expression. "Jac, we will have two babies..."

"Huh ? Did the hospital call ? Did they forget about one ?" The otter hadn't understood anything about hospital at all. Hadn't the man said something about galaxy ?

Ranjit shook his head and sighed before taking a seat on the couch. "No, no. I signed up for an agency quite a while ago, where they help children without a home. Now they called me because another baby has lost his home."

"We should help then." Jacosa decided after a few minutes of pondering. He wasn't sure if he wanted another baby, but the baby needed help after all.

"I just don't know how to explain it to your mother..."

Receiving Otieno

Archie Saturn

It had been two days since the last sentencing and Archie was still on 'baby buzz.' After all the bad things he'd done in the past it felt good to be providing a service, as odd as it was.

"Archie! Can I go out and get something to eat?" Even the semi-sarcastic voice of his own charge, Dixie, couldn't bring him out of his good mood. She often joked that her punishment for eating all of those people was to have to endure his cooking. Which reminded him... lunch!

"It's Grilled Cheese Day," he said, tugging a loaf of bread off of some random shelf. "Come in here and help me." It had obviously completely slipped his mind that, based on the date of the last baby's arrival, there should be another one coming through today.

A few minutes later, Dixie entered the kitchen. The fur around her feet was filthy from digging in the yard for more mugshots, and the dirt clashed horribly with the ruffly purple dress she had decided to wear. "Grilled cheese sucks," she declared, opening the refrigerator and looking around for some gross, little, cellophane-wrapped squares.

Lenachan358
Ranjit nervously nibbled on his fingertips as he moved through the streets towards the building he'd been assigned to. He had totally forgotten about signing up for a baby and now he was trapped. Knowing that he had a weak hard he wouldn't be able to state that he wasn't interested any longer. The man knew that signing a contract wasn't something which could be easily abolished.

Still his heart raced like a formula one car as he approached. Andraste had just given birth to a beautiful baby and was finally completely satisfied. Another child would probably be 'quite' too much for her. Anyway, he had signed up before he had known about her pregnancy...it was...just...not his fault.

Ranjit knocked on the door hesitantly.

Archie Saturn
"Could you get that?" Archie asked.

"No."

"All right, then you can cook."

The girl who answered the door was less than excited to do so, and it showed. "Hey," she drawled. "What's up?" If she hadn't been so determined to make this man uncomfortable, Dixie might have noticed the faint whirring coming from overhead.

Lenachan358
Ranjit sighed out of relief as the door was finally answered and looked at the girl. "Erm...my name is Ranjit, I've been called a few days before to come and pick up a ...baby ? That's the house for the babies, isn't it ?"

His fingers were stuffed into his pockets and he eyed the girl somewhat curiously. As he heard the whirring he looked at the sky quite confused.

Archie Saturn
"Yeah, this is the place." Her near-constant bad mood was broken at the mention of another delivery. After all, she loved the landings as much as her pseudo-father. "Come in for a second." She looked up at the sky after Ranjit did, finally noticing the sound.

"Oh s**t." She dropped the door, hoping that the man caught it, and ran back to the kitchen. "Archie, another one's coming. And the dad, he's here too."

Within the span of a couple of seconds, Archie had turned off the stove and rushed out to the front room, Dixie on his heels.

"Hello," he said, propping the door open with a foot, a wide grin on his face. "I must have called you to come down, but I can't remember your name. I'm Archie." He held out a hand to shake, if this man was so inclined.

Lenachan358
The blue-skinned man scratched his head and sighed out of relief as he heard that he was at least at the right place. People could have easily called the police for asking for babies...

As the girl ran off pretty quickly Ranjit wasn't still quite sure what he had to expect. Catching the door he turned back to the sky and frowned slightly. There was something...coming...probably ?

Before he could make out what it was he heard some footsteps and turned to a man, who seemed to be more of his age. "Ranjit." He concluded as he shook Archie's hand. "Could I probably see the baby now ? Indeed you called me quite some time ago, a few days if I remember rightly."

Archie Saturn
"We... don't have him yet." At least Archie assumed the baby was male. "Actually," he looked up again, "that's him." Usually, Archie was inside during initial descent, and was only alerted to the landing when it became too loud to ignore. "Perfect timing. Let me grab my coat."

He turned around to get a jacket of some sort, only to have one shoved into his hands by Dixie. "Come on," she urged.

Lenachan358
Ranjit just nodded silently wondering where the hell a baby should come from and if he had to witness another birth. Finally he recognised that the arrival might have to do something with the thing that was coming closer towards them from the sky.

"Uhm...alright." He shrugged and shoved his hands into his trousers' pockets to follow the man and the girl. They knew what had to be done, he suggested

Archie Saturn
Archie and Dixie made their way over to the giant bullseye that spanned most of the backyard, and arranged themselves around it.

"Just stay out of the center," Archie suggested. The motor noise had grown louder, and he had to raise his voice to be heard.

Dixie waved her tail across the ground in anticipation, dirtying the furry end even further

Lenachan358
"Sure, sure." Ranjit muttered and watched everything with suspicion. He was quite sure that Andraste would so definately kill him, if he told her how he'd gotten the child.

Probably he wasn't able to be heard anyway because of the noise, so he just decided to smile and nod. The man was visibly a bit overwhelmed.

Archie Saturn
It took a few more minutes and a lot more noise before the little spaceship had deployed its parachute and began slowly drifting to the ground. Archie glanced over at Ranjit. The man certainly didn't seem all that excited. Archie might have attempted reassurance, but he wasn't very good at that sort of thing.

"Here we go," he said as the craft landed with a small thud and slid open.

Dixie ran forward and peered inside. "All in one piece."

Archie pulled a face. "Dixie!" He approached the pod to see for himself before turning to Ranjit. "He's fine. Do you want to see him?"

Lenachan358
Gladly no one was able to see how much Ranjit's hands were shaking inside his pockets. He took a deep breath as the spaceship landed and his eyes trailed from Archie to his daughter.

Of course he wanted to see him ! Well...actually not, because he knew that he could never leave a baby alone and...Andraste...she...err...

"Alright." He simply stated and moved towards the spaceship taking a peek if the baby was really alright. "He's...BLUE !" The man suddenly screamed and a big grin spread on his face. That was a good start, they had the same skin colour...he wasn't from a Nokke planet, was he ?

Somehow the baby crossed his arms and glared at the new people though. "Er...why is he looking like that ?" The man examined the young one carefully.

Archie Saturn
"At least he's not screaming," Archie said, remembering the most recent arrival. "Sometimes they can be a little angry at the beginning. Most learn to accept their punishment after a while. It's better than prison." He looked again at the sulky baby as he said this, as if trying to make a point.

"Do you need anything? Like diapers or clothes or something?" Dixie looked in at the baby and noticed he was wearing a loin cloth. Most of the kids arrived in clothing that was much too big for them, but this outfit seemed to be almost the right size. "Must have been small," she said, mostly to herself. She rummaged around the interior of the ship for a moment, coming up with the criminal's picture. "Neat. You're cuter now," she said, attempting to make the kid happier.

Lenachan358
"That's true." Ranjit smiled slightly as he moved to pick up the small blue baby, who stared at him quite suspicious. "Hey small one...everything alright ?" As he stroked through the black hair he almost suffered from a harsh bite of the sharp teeth of the boy. "Wow...quite a temper."

Ranjit grinned and shook his head. "No, thank you. Our daughter was just born a few days ago and we're well prepared." His fingers tried to adjust the loin cloth right and wondered what tribe the alien was coming from.

Taking a look at the picture across Dixie's shoulder he nodded. "Indeed, you're cuter now. Your hair colour changed quite drastically, I'd say."

The baby snorted and just continued his stare. "Does he have a name already ?" The man asked Archie politely.

Archie Saturn
"Whoa!" Archie backed up a step at the sight of the baby's glowing teeth. These kids were just getting fiestier and fiestier every day.

Oh, another baby! This guy was in for quite a handful. "Congratulations!" Archie said. He reached across the little ship and took the picture out of Dixie's hands. Flipping it over, he read, "Awook. Hmm. Sometimes they don't label them." This one was labeled in Interplanetary Common, a language Archie doubted the blue-skinned man could read. "Would you like to take this with you?" he asked, holding out the picture.

Lenachan358
"Well, if he's starting a new life, he should receive a new name as well." Ranjit smiled slightly and tried to avoid to come close to the growling baby's teeth again. "I think Otieno suits him well." The man decided and very quickly patted the boy's head.

The baby snorted.

"Thank you." Ranjit replied to the congratulations and grinned happily. "It's going to be quite some work, I guess." Taking the pictures and looking at them once again he finally nodded. "I think that's probably a nice idea, I could show them to him later on. Or burn them, if needed." Otieno punched his small fist against the man's upper arm, which luckily didn't hurt at all.

"Is there something special I have to know ? Like, what does he eat and such ?"

Archie Saturn

"That's a nice name," Archie agreed. The kid didn't seem to think so, but he wasn't in much of a position to complain.

"I would assume he can eat whatever you can at first," Dixie interrupted. "Although, if his crime has something to do with it..." She leaned over to look at the back of the picture in Ranjit's hands again. "...Nah, you're okay. It says something about disturbing the peace with light, so nothing to worry about. I was a cannibal," she said, smiling proudly. "Archie wasn't allowed to give me meat for the longest time." Her grin turned into a brief scowl before smoothing back into a neutral expression. "I guess just treat him like a normal baby until he stops acting like one."

Lenachan358

Otieno just stared at the three people with disgust and opened and closed his hand, looking at his fingernails with interest.

"That's good then." Ranjit smiled quite relieved. "I guess we'll find out what he's fond of then." As he heard Cannibal he couldn't help but look a bit scared for a moment. Nah, she wasn't like that anymore...they were here for becoming different, right ? "Hehe...err..yeah."

Archie Saturn

Archie was still mildly stunned at Dixie's comparitively eloquent analysis of Otieno's behavior. If he hadn't known she had once been a hulking, flesh-eating freak, he would have thought she was really growing up.

"So, is there anything else you need to know?" Archie asked. "We're here most of the time, well, 'cause we live here, so feel free to stop by. I've been telling all the recent parents that, so maybe there will even be other kids here for Otieno to meet."

Lenachan358

"I think I know enough for the time being. I'll give you a call if there's something I crave to know." He smiled friendly and even Otieno seemed to listen to Dixie's words. She was one of his kind probably. Tsk...

"We should be going home now. Otieno will be quite a surprise to the other family members..." Ranjit smiled warily and pushed the pictures into the pockets of his trousers. "I'm sure it would be nice to meet some other parents soon."

He offered one free hand to Dixie and Archie. "It was nice to meet you."

Archie Saturn
Archie reached out his own hand and shook. "Yep. Very nice to meet you too. We'll see you soon, hopefully."

Dixie grinned at Otieno before extending her own hand to Ranjit to be shaken. "See you around," she said before pulling the door open to help the man make it outside with his new crabby baby.

Homecoming

As Jacosa opened the door and looked up into Ranjit's face he couldn't see the happiness he had expected. In fact it was distorted by pain.

The otter's eyes quickly moved towards the man's arms where a small blue baby was locating, who was busily gnawing on Ranjit's skin.

"Nila doesn't have teeth." The boy shrugged as the grown-up moved into the new apartment, where Jacosa had been waiting for him.

Otieno growled as Ranjit tried to get him off his arm and pushed him onto the couch. "Don't get to close, Jacosa. He's angry." A slight trail of blood was running down the man's arm and the boy's eyes widened in shock. "He has hurt you !"

Ranjit sighed and watched Otieno, who was trying to roll off the couch. Luckily he wasn't able to do so.

"He comes from far far away and misses his home." The man tried to explain, but Jacosa still watched the baby awkwardly. The black-haired one had started to gnaw on the couch. "What's his name ?"
Putting a plaster onto the small wound Ranjit watched the criminal, who was slowly drifting off to sleep.

"Otieno."

Jacosa settled down beside the couch and watched the new brother insensively. "He didn't know that it hurts, right ?" Not sure about the answer Ranjit just shrugged and sighed. "No, he didn't want to hurt me." It probably wasn't the truth, but he didn't want to destroy the relationship between the two brothers right from the start. It would be difficult enough for Jacosa to adjust to two blue-skinned babies, whereas he was obviously looking different.

"We finished your room, Otieno." The otter whispered, but didn't dare to touch the baby. So it was Ranjit who picked the small one up, who had started to snore. Shaking his head they moved towards the new room. They had decided on something orange and as Ranjit was about to put Otieno into his crib, Jacosa stopped him. "We shall put clothes on."

Of course, they had bought some nice clothes beforehand. The otter moved to get a shirt and trousers as Ranjit undressed the baby. "Cooool ! He's got a tail !" Jacosa squealed and made his own one wiggle.

"Ssh..." Ranjit smiled as he dressed the baby criminal. Otieno snorted and tried to turn around. Jacosa put a blanket onto the small body and felt suddenly very proud that he was such a big brother right now.

Blanket Dreams

A laugh escaped Nila's dark lips as a fly flew across the room. This was a funny thing, it made sounds and flutter-flutter-flutter.
She was lying on her back on a comfortable blanket and watched the world around her. Indeed it was a nice world, it was warm and nearby she could hear her mother and her older brother.

Of course she wasn't quite sure about any relations yet, but she knew about the fuzzy fur and the voices of all the people. Dad wasn't at home.

Suddenly something slobbery hit her face and she was about to wail as she noticed what it was. A small blue hand covered with saliva. The infant started to kick and rolled aside before she moved her head to look at the bad boy.

Otieno grinned at her revealing his teeth. Nila knew he liked to tease her, because she didn't have teeth, which was pretty unfair. His small blue stubble moved from side to side as he tried to touch her again. Probably his intentions were good ones, but Nila didn't like to be touched like that and started to wail.

She could hear her mother coming closer and quickly she was lifted up. Just now she noticed how hungry she was and started to nibble on her mother's breasts. "Shh, Nila. Wait a moment." Andraste moved towards the couch to feed her daughter and didn't seem to care about Otieno.

The criminal growled as he noticed that he was alone now and moved from side to side until he was finally able to push himself into a sitting position. He was already a bit further in his development. His hands were moving across the warm blanket and it almost sounded like a sigh as he looked around for somebody. This was a strange place and he was indeed treatened like he was stupid, but actually he liked it somehow. It was warm and bright and there was always somebody close.

He tried to call out for someone, but actually it just sounded like 'wuhuh' or so. Still the parent mother person came along and offered a bottle to him. Nila wasn't with her anymore. Trying to be careful with his teeth he allowed the rubber piece to be stuffed into his mouth and slowly started to drink the white liquid, which tasted so good. Otieno was satisfied.

Nila was asleep on the couch.

The First Encounter

Lenachan358
Sharp fingernails were on their way to force themselves into pale blue skin as Ranjit carried Otieno carefully. The blue baby grinned evily as he managed to grab the man's arm and was about to hurt him as a cry stopped him from doing so.

Another blue baby, called Nila, glanced at him with astonishing blue eyes. She was lying in a pram, which was gently pushed by Ranjit, the proud father.

Andraste had intended to spend more time with Jacosa and so he was taking both of the babies for a walk. Usually Otieno was supposed to lay beside Nila, but the boy had always tried to bite and scratch her.

So he started to wail as well as they moved through the park.

lithle
Oh, the graceless juggling act of parenthood. By necessity, every father is a performer, and Kniene was no exception. Witness, on one arm, a garrishly coloured pink diaper bag, stuffed too full of all the usual necessities. On the other arm, Autsu, a screaming, struggling armful of babyflesh. Note the skillful way he manages to keep the young black skinned infant held closely enough to assure security, while still keeping those seeking hands away from his long red hair.

Note also, the strands of loose red hair already caught by the infant's fist. Fatherhood. Truely a blessing.

"Autsu-- Autsu please dear child." He wasn't above begging, not Kniene. Anything for a little peace. When had he last slept again? When had the little winged demon stopped screaming long enough for him to sleep? Well, nevermind that. The park was a nice change from the too crowded apartment. Even if the noise level was the same.

Spotting Ranjit through the waving arms and seeing that he had twice as many little ones causing problems, he flashed a sympathetic smile. It'd be a bow, usually, but Autsu didn't allow for the usual level of politeness.

Lenachan358
Ranjit was busily trying to keep Otieno from dropping onto the ground as the baby suddenly stopped moving. The black haired baby grabbed the father's shoulder and his eyes carefully peered across it.

There was another one. Not such a stupid silent one like Nila, but indeed another one.

The man almost plucked the nails out of his shirt as Otieno started to wave and point at the other father. Perhaps he could start a baby rebellion ? Ranjit didn't doubt this intentions and turned around to glance at the person, who caused the trouble, for a moment.

"Hey." He simply greeted and grinned recogising they were in the same state.

Nila looked quite annoyed and tried to move her head to see something, but still she wasn't able to get up alone. The blue baby girl pouted.

lithle
The struggling, furious infant in Kniene's arms was not prepared to calm down any time soon. Luckily, he was a (somewhat) human infant, with a few basic needs. Like-- air. His panting pauses allowed Kniene brief moments of respite as the angry but exhausted baby gasped for air so that he could begin his complaints anew.

"Good day. It seems you have yet more trouble than I do." Readjusting Autsu, he allowed the infant to catch sight of Otieno. Curiousity mingled with the fierceness in his eyes, and he now streached his arms out toward the other baby, making grabbing motions with tiny fists.

"No, I don't think you can take him, Autsu." Kniene murmured to the infant, his tone affectionate. Anything that quieted the dark skinned infant down, however briefly, was worthy of a blessing from the Lady herself.

Lenachan358
"Oh, I'm not quite sure. Luckily Nila is a pretty quiet baby." The man pointed at the blue female baby before turning to Otieno, who was busily trying to reach Autsu. His fingernails were clicking in a strange manner as they moved against each other while doing so and for a moment the baby stopped to stare at his own hands.

"Autsu ? That's a pretty name. This one is Otieno." Still the baby didn't react to the name, but just focused on the other one. They were trapped, indeed pretty much trapped. But at least the black-skinned one didn't seem to like it as well. A grin crossed Otieno's lips and revealed his teeth.

lithle
"Greetings, Otieno, Nila." Kniene was able to nod to both the babies, due to Autsu's relative calm. Having his dark skinned little one fighting to do something other than injure him was a change, and he was certainly going to take advantage of it. For at least a second, he was going to breathe, and exchange a few friendly words.

"I must say, this may be the calmest I've seen 'tsu since he came in to my care. I think he likes your little Otieno." For his part, Autsu opened his mouth to reveal teethless gums, and continued to reach struggling in Kniene's arms for freedom. His tiny wings fluttered, as if he might gain flight, and escape in that manner.

Lenachan358
Nila gurgled as she heard her name and Otieno shot her a glance of distrust. She was annoying.

His eyes turned back to the other person's baby and because of his wriggling Ranjit made a step towards the pair. Otieno grinned broadly and hit the other one's hand. Not hard though, it was a sign of friendship somehow.

"Otieno is quite loud as well...Hey no hitting here, young man." Ranjit demanded and only earned a hiss from the baby. The father sighed. "Cute little wings, what kind of race is Autsu ?"

lithle
The gurgling brought Autsu's attention briefly downward. There was another one? But she seemed happy. And that made her dismissable.

The one with the claws was fighting, or had been fighting. That was much more interesting. He accepted the light hit with a wide toothless smile, and something like a laugh. He'd been a solider, rough affection was a way of life. With one chubby baby hand, he attempted to grab the others arm.

Kniene's eyes lit up at the sound of laughter. It was a first from Autsu. There'd been brief smiles, usually when the baby was doing something destructive. But a laugh, that was something new. Maybe there was a chance then. Maybe this could work.

"He's Ga-- Gacafa?" He shook his head, unable to remember what had been written on the little slip of paper. High treason had stood out much more obviously than planet of origin. "I fear I can't remember. Though, in truth, he bears little resemblence to his race."

And Kniene was so very glad for that. The red skinned man in the picture had looked like he could kill with just his hands, let alone that tail of his.

"The ICRS put him in my care, and I suppose I should have expected him to be somewhat... difficult.

Lenachan358
Otieno watched the other one laugh and grinned even broader, allowing a little chuckle to escape his throat.

Wha ? What was the other one doing ? A friendly growl could be heard from the blue baby's mouth as it was touched. It was a game, indeed a very funny game. His stubble was wiggling as he moved his arm away from the hand.

"Never heard about Gacafa." Ranjit admitted as he watched the boys play. It was indeed a very strange kind of game. "Otieno is a...oh, I forgot the name." He sighed and scratched his head as he suddenly heard a very familiar expression.

"Autsu's from the ICRS as well ?!" Ranjit literally spit out the words in disbelief. Another criminal...

lithle
Reaching was difficult when held tightly in Kniene's grasp. Autsu wiggled in place, trying to extend his reach so that he could again get at Otieno's arm, tiny fingers streached to their utmost.

At Otieno's growl, his smile widened, gaining the sort of edge that a baby shouldn't be able to summon.

While Autsu struggled in his arms, Kniene attempted to process the other man's words. So, the baby currently playing some sort of obscure game with his Autsu was a criminal as well? It figured that Autsu would calm down at last, only at the sight of another such as himself.

"He is." He responded, studying Otieno more carefully now. What crimes did his seemingly innocent form disguise. Then again, the same was true of Autsu. He still didn't know the details of what his new son had done. The mystery would wait until the little one was old enough t speak.

"He only recently came into my charge, and it's been difficult. It's strange, that we should meet this way. But, I did want Autsu to encounter his peers."

Lenachan358
Otieno wanted to reach the other one. He really really wanted it ! With a loud his he allowed his fingernails to be used and scratched across Autsu's skin.

He had never played with other children in his former life, he wasn't used to much social contact. A giggle echoed through the air and Ranjit tightened his grip around the toddler.

At the same time Nila started to wail.

Ranjit seemed pretty amused and relieved by this fact. "Wow awesome. I didn't think that I would meet another guardian so soon." He smiled brightly, although Otieno was giving him a hard time.

Autsu looked more peaceful. Perhaps it was because he didn't have sharp teeth and claws, but tiny cute wings ? Ranjit tried to keep himself from acting unfair, because of the looks. He knew how strange it was to have blue-skin.

"No scratching !" The man demanded and pulled the baby away from the friend. "I think Otieno did something about disturbing the peace on his planet. That's all I was able to catch."

As the blue baby wanted to be noticed the man frowned. "O dear, what's it Nila ?"

It was the first real pain he'd felt in his new life, that brief brush of nails across his skin. And it did hurt. But he'd been a soldier, he'd been strong. He didn't let himself react in the way an ordinary infant might. No tears for him. Instead, he allowed himself a sharp, scolding yell, reaching out to slap Otieno in turn.

Of course, the distance didn't allow it, and while being scratched hadn't angered him, being seperated did. Kicking at Kniene with tiny heels, he flapped his little wings frantically, trying to force his captor to move closer.

"Autsu... I am unsure. High treason." He admitted it with a bit of a wince. The dangerous lizard like man in the picture, the fury in his eyes. Kniene could only imagine what sort of damage he might have caused, "It could be many things."

As the quieter of Ranjit's two children began to cry, Kniene scanned the area. Spotting a bench, he gestured toward it, "Perhaps we would both have an easier time of it if we sat down?"

Lenachan358
Otieno watched Autsu's reaction and didn't listen as he was scolded by Ranjit. His eyes were focusing the baby's face and was pressing his head against the grown-up's shoulder as he heard the yell. Loud laughter followed and he tried to reach the slapping hand, but they still weren't close enough. This one seemed like a suitable person for him.

"Perhaps we shouldn't care about it anyway." Ranjit shrugged and cooed at Nila to make her calm down. But she didn't want to, because she wanted to be the center of attention. Not these stupid boys !

Ranjit was visibly relieved as he heard Kniene's offer. "O yes, sounds much easier to me." Trying to keep Otieno from biting him with fury he pushed the pram towards the bench and sat down. The blue criminal was placed beside his upper leg, whereas Ranjit was able to pick up Nila now.

The girl cried.

lithle
Autsu's rather challenging shriek faded quickly into more friendly noises, incoherant but clearly amused. The seperation irritated him, and he continued his squirming, the beating of his wings causing tiny feathers to be shed.

"Indeed." Kniene agreed, attempting to soothe Autsu by gently rubbing his back. He didn't want to linger on the childs past, didn't want to raise the reborn criminal in guilty. But sometimes, his attitude and the sharp intelligence in his young face made it hard to forget.

Following Ranjit to the bench, he settled Autsu on his knee, glad to be sitting down for however short a period. The constant battling with his new son wore him out, and quickly. With Autsu relatively calm, the crying girl got the majority of his attention. "She's your own blood?"

Lenachan358
Otieno got hold of a shed feather and grinned as he waved it slightly. Wings were awesome, why didn't he have some ? He tried to talk, but everything was came out only sounded like 'bloah'. The young boy frowned and tried to reach the friend on the other one's lap with the feather.

A very proud smile was shown to Kniene as Ranjit nodded. "Yes, indeed." Nila noticed that the moving talking thing, which was also quite bit looked at her now. Ranjit stroked through her red hair and quickly she stopped wailing, but just stared at Kniene. Who was that ?

"Usually she's only watching." He explained and Otieno growled as Ranjit tried to stroke him as well. "Do you have any other children ?"

lithle
The feather confused Autsu a bit. He was, barely, aware of his wings. Mostly as an annoyance. But he hadn't really seen them, and the feathers he sometimes shed were always a bit of a surprise. Leaning to the extent that he could with Kniene holding him around the waist, he grabbed at the feather.

Kniene smiled at the little girl, his usual calm demeanor returning as the boys entertained each other. Wiggling his fingers to get her attention, he showed a bit more of the usual adult facination with infants than he did to Otieno or Autsu. But... there was a hardness to them that discouraged it. "Hello there."

"I have a teenage son, actually." Kniene admitted, his smile taking on a proud paternal edge as he spoke of the boy, "Sethos is in classes at the moment, otherwise he'd be here helping me with 'tsu."

He couldn't imagine trying to get by without Sethos's help, there were days when the stoic fae was the only thing keeping him sane. Certainly, his teenager allowed him a chance to sleep, even if it was only a stolen nap in the middle of the day. "Is this the extent of your own family?" He asked in turn, keeping a cautious eye on the boys' interactions.

Lenachan358
Otieno wasn't quite sure if he should hand the feather to Autsu so easily. It needed to be a reward, something special of course. While looking at the fluttery thing he decided to make it more of his likings and extended one sharp fingernail to damage the feather a bit. Otieno was able to rip out a few pieces before he handed the symbol towards the new friend.

Nila watched the person with interest but remained completely calm. Her blue eyes were following the finger and slowly one hand was extended to reach it.

"Wow, a teenager already ? How's it like ? Difficult, I suppose." Ranjit answered before making sure that Otieno didn't fall off the bench during his ripping process. "I'm sure it's good to have some help with the small one."

As an answer to the question he shook his head off. "Nah, there's also Nila's mother, Andraste and Jacosa who's a young lively boy. He's helping a bit too, but most of the time he's jealous of the new babies."

lithle
Autsu continued to extend his hand for the feather, impatiently waiting for Otieno to finish. With the alterations done, he accepted it, examining it closely and keeping it held safely in his tight grip. He'd never taken much notice of his feathers until now.

A gift required a gift, but Autsu couldn't exactly give back what he'd just been given, and he didn't have anything else. For a second he chewed absently on one of his fists, considering possibilities. And then he waited. It didn't take long at all for Kniene to lean down to see what he'd gotten. Taking his fist out of his mouth, he quickly grabbed a handful of hair and yanked.

There was a noise of course. First the grunt of pain followed by low voiced scolding. He ignored it. Now, this would do as a gift. After all, the feather had come off of him. So the hair came off his captor. It was a sign, trimuph over tyranny. With a wide grin, he held the fistful of auburn strands out to his new comrade.

Still hissing through gritted teeth and trying not to show it, Kniene shook his head. "This one presents more of a problem than Sethos ever has. For the most part, my only concern for my eldest is that he approaches life too seriously. He has a hard time making friends."

With cautious affection, Kniene ruffled his dark skinned infant's hair. "At least 'tsu seems to have some luck with that."

Lenachan358
Otieno watched the other baby relatively calm, but his eyes flicked from side to side. What was going on now ? Was he supposed to do something ? His tongue slowly made it's way out of his mouth and tried to rub a piece of skin below his nose.

Completely lost in his thoughts, he only noticed that the other bigger person screamed. His own one did that a lot too and as the hair was offered to him, Otieno didn't refuse but grabbed it.

He sniffed at the hair before happily putting it into his mouth and starting to chew it.

Ranjit tried to help Kniene as he was attacked by the baby, but Autsu didn't intend to let go of the toy. "Wow, are you alright ? I know it tends to hurt a lot." The man really pitied the other one and patted his shoulder.

"I bet your son will make friends soon. I never had many because of my skin-colour. Now I've got quite a few." Ranjit nodded and watched the children as Otieno stuffed something into his mouth.

"Eww Otieno ! You can't eat it, it's hair !" Trying to put his finger into the boy's mouth he was confronted with teeth.

Nila tried to copy the father's 'eww' instead and just glared at the brother.

lithle
That had worked rather well, Autsu thought. Watching as Otieno gnawed at the hair, he smiled more widly, impressed that his gift should be consumed. Stuffing his own fist in his mouth, he felt the soft, toothless form of his gums and tried not to be too disappointed.

His comrade was so much more dangerous than he was! Hopefully, as his new form grew, he'd develop the threat of teeth and claws as well. Maybe he'd even be able to fly.

Rubbing the sore spot on his head, Kniene managed a weak smile for Ranjit, "I am, unfortanately, getting all too used to losing hair over him. I had expected my children to make me go gray, but not that they'd have me balding early."

"Sethos is learning, I think, about the value of others. Having a younger brother is good for him, I believe. He's learning to think beyond himself."

Seeing the little girls reaction to her brother's hair eating, he tried not to laugh. "Perhaps your little girl will gentle Otieno, in time."

Lenachan358
Otieno grinned, but finally noticed that eating hair gave him some problems. The stuff moved around his tongue and made him choke. Luckily the parent was hitting his back so he could spit the hairball out and now it was covered with saliva. Otieno just didn't care and took it into his palm again, admiring it even more than before.

"Uaargh." He mimicked and showed it to Autsu. Perhaps he should try and eat the feather ? o...he was eating himself ? Quickly Otieno bit his arm and started to wail at once. It hurt !

"Luckily my hair is too short for them to reach." Ranjit moved one hand through his hair and sighed out of relief. Hopefully it would stay like this, he wouldn't like Otieno to eat his hair.

Hitting the boy's back he watched the hairball come out again and shook his head. "I hope so. Although sometimes I think she's annoyed by him, which can't be, because they're both so small. Siblings are always good for children though. I've got a younger sister and I always protected her."

lithle
Fist still firmly shoved in his mouth, Kniene gave the hairball a look of wordless approval. That was much better than just a handful of strands. At Otieno's attempt to bite himself, and subsiquent shriek of pain, he giggled, a laugh that might have sounded innocent were it not for the situation.

"I had many siblings as well." Kniene said, with a fond smile. Of course, for him the whole of the Autumn Guard children had been like siblings, and it hadn't been blood that united them. He missed them too, as one missed something long lost. Briefly, his expression turned distant, as he thought back, but he shook it off at Otieno's wailing.

"Oh Lady, I think he's just found out how sharp his teeth are." Kniene murmered, wincing in sympathy, "I hope he didn't break the skin."

Lenachan358
Looking at his skin Otieno decided that biting himself probably wasn't much fun. Unexperienced with games in his former life he still had to learn a lot. Pointing at the other one's fist he grinned evily.

Nila wasn't happy with this kind of development and frowned before trying to reach out for Autsu's wings.

Ranjit watched the other one's expression with a pleasure of knowledge. When thinking of his own childhood everything appeared quite far away and such look was in Kniene's eyes.

"Indeed. Little bugger." He sighed and examined Otieno's arm, but luckily nothing appeared to have happened. "He loves to nibble on our new couch, which is pretty disturbing sometimes."

lithle
Focused as he was on Otieno, Autsu took no notice of Nila's outstreached hands. Instead, he studied his comrade, expression as hesitant as a babies could be. On the one hand, they were comrades with tokens exchanged. On the other, Otieno had some wicked looking teeth.

After a moments hesitation, he took the indicated fist out of his mouth, and extended it in the other boy's direction. He could always snatch it back if it became necissary.

"I can see how that would be a problem. I doubt you could use the same methods to deter him that one would with a puppy." He couldn't help but be at least a little releaved at his own childs lack of any natural weaponry. All he had to worry about were those questing hands and that seemingly inexhaustable set of lungs.

"I worry about Autsu's wings, but as long as they don't develop to the point where he can fly, I suppose the main difficulty will be grooming."

Lenachan358
Nila almost fell off the lap, but quickly managed to get hold of the other one's wings and tugged them slightly looking at the funny stuff. She wanted such things as well.

Otieno glared at the sister and snorted, but was quickly calmed as he noticed the fist. Was it his turn to try it ? Perhaps he tasted very special. Carefully he tried to make his mouth go around the fist.

"As you say it, I've thought about it already, but it just doesn't seem right. Perhaps I should cover the furniture with plastic sheets." Ranjit sighed and watched the strange game of the babies hoping that it wouldn't result in hurting somebody.

"Perhaps they'll stay like this as well ?" The man proposed and was about to examine the wings a bit closer as he noticed the tugging Nila. "Nila ! Stop it !" The blue baby just looked at him and allowed the wings to be free again. "I'm sorry, I hope Autsu's not hurt."

lithle
Still focused on Otieno, Autsu didn't notice Nila as more than annoyance until she had her hands around his wings. At that, he gave a slight growl, not liking the feeling of tiny fingers among his feathers. It felt... uncomfortable. Before he could react further, she was tugged away, the annoyance removed. Which left Otieno, trying to get his mouth around his fist.

Autsu wasn't sure he liked that at all. Those were, after all, very sharp teeth. He kept his fist very, very steady. He was no weakly, form not withstanding. He wouldn't pull away at only the threat of pain.

"That may work, though those fangs look like they could very well cut through plastic." He soothed Autsu's wings with a light touch, resettling out of place feathers. "They might at that. I'm afraid we walk into mystery with these little ones."

"'tsu..." He murmured as he observed the meeting of small fist and fanged mouth. This could very well be bad. And yet, he'd learned by experiance when he was a youth. Without doing something stupid, it was hard to know where the dangers lay. Best to let him find that out, and hopefully no blood spilled.

"He wakes up hysterical." He admitted, bringing it up because it was nice to have the sympathy of another parent, "He may struggle against me now, but if he wakes up alone, he panics. I have yet to discover what to do about it."

Lenachan358
Nila pouted and watched the brother's movements. It almost seemed like she was jealous that he was allowed to continue his game.

Otieno had managed to get his mouth around the fist and was about to try to suck it just as the other one had done it as his teeth hit the others flesh. What should he do ? Should he stop ? There was a certain hesitation in his eyes.

"I hope they don't grow larger." Ranjit admitted and watched the game with caution. This didn't look good, not at all. But somehow it seemed like these two still liked each other and enjoyed the game.

"That's a strange circumstance. Otieno doesn't care about being with others or not, but he's awfully scared of the darkness. We always have to leave the lights turned on when he's sleeping. Perhaps they have nightmares ?" Ranjit moved his hand through the baby's black hair and sighed. "But at least Autsu thinks your a safe 'spot' then."

lithle
This was getting a bit tense, and Autsu had to keep himself very still so he wouldn't pull away. At the light pressure of teeth against his skin, he growled, not in threat so much as warning. His mouth wouldn't form words, and he didn't understand the language anyway, so it was the best he could do. He wasn't going to back down, not until something actually happened, but he didn't want to bleed.

"He's frightened of the dark? I wouldn't expect that in a former criminal." Though he spoke to Ranjit, Kniene kept his gaze on Autsu, ready to jerk him away at the slightest notice. He really didn't want to be playing medic at the end of this encounter. "Something in their previous existance must have driven them toward lawbreaking. I think it likely that they have nightmares."

Regarding Autsu with hesitant fondness, he brushed his fingers over one downy wing, getting no reaction from the very focused boy, "I hope he finds comfort in his new home. I would like him to find me safe."

Once again distracted by the strange game the two babies were playing, he looked from the black child, to the blue one, to the equally blue Ranjit. "What do you suppose they're doing?"

Lenachan358
Otieno tried to keep his mouth as still as possible as he heard the other one's growl. He wasn't a stupid one, he seemed to have will. Quite uncertain of his actions the blue boy decided to stay in this position, which of course caused him to drool a bit.

"Indeed he is. I hope nothing traumatic happened in his former life, but it actually seems like there's some secret hidden inside of him." The man was about to poke the little one as he noticed that it probably wasn't a good idea regarding his status.

"I bet you're a good father. I'm still uncertain about the whole criminal aspect though, I have to say that I'm slightly worried seing his temper already." Ranjit sighed and watched Nila, who busily nibbled on his pullover.

"It looks like some kind of ritual to me." He shrugged.

lithle
His comrade hadn't bitten him when given a chance. And he hadn't backed down from the threat of being bitten. Expressing his pleasure with a second, more upbeat growl, he removed his fist (carefully) from Otieno's mouth. Sure, it was covered in drool, but that had been the case before the other had gotten at it.

With clumsy care, he leaned toward Otieno, tugging a bit at Kniene's grip. Extending both his chubby arms, he placed his hands on his comrade's shoulders and squeezed as best he could. It was, among his people, a show of trust and affection. Maybe the other captive would understand. And if not, he'd tried.

"It seems likely that some trauma was there, for both of them." Kniene responded, a bit sadly as he carefully petted the black skinned boy's hair. "But, this is a new life. We can protect them from going through such hardship again."

At the mention of temper, Kniene nodded in obvious agreement, "I understand your concern. But that too, can be tamed, right? It's hard to stay angry when well treated."

Lenachan358
Otieno felt the urge to taste Autsu, but as he noticed the careful way of removing the hand he just watched and slowly closed his mouth AFTER the fist was gone. Now is tongue felt strange somehow and a bit dry.

A short glance was cast at his sister as he suddenly felt hands on his shoulders and the boy's eyes widened with shock. Would he attack him now ? He wasn't used to physical signs of friendship or to such a thing at all and so he didn't know how to react and just stared at Autsu helplessly. What did this mean ? Why wasn't he able to articulate himself ? "Gaaah !"

"I wish I could understand what's going on inside their heads. But I guess we just have to wait and we'll find out." Relief could be seen in Ranjit's eyes as the fist went back where it came from and a slight smile was conjured onto his face as Autsu hugged Otieno.

"They really seem to like each other. Perhaps they will be able to help each other trough their problems later on, who knows ?" He shrugged and watched Nila, who had fallen asleep on his lap. Stroking through her red hair, the man continued to watch Otieno. "Looks like your little one just tamed him."

lithle
Oops. Wrong action it seemed. He'd have to find another way to express his trust. Though the inability to speak the language made it nearly impossible to show any emotion beyond anger. Still, Autsu understood discomfort when he saw it and quickly removed his hands from the other boys shoulders.

He was getting drowsy anyway, this form didn't allow for much activity before he found himself worn out. Despite his best intentions, he found himself slumping back a bit into Kniene's hold, his limbs hanging losely.

"It is irritating. Autsu is so obviously intelligent, and I can not imagine the stress he feels at being incapible of articulating himself." He could feel Autsu growing steadily more limp in his arms, a sure sign he'd worn himself out. Shifting him carefully, so as not to upset him, he let his gaze move between the two boys, "We can only hope they continue to bring peace to each other."

With that statement, he ran his fingers through the drowsy, but still aware child's hair, "Well, two out of three have worn themselves out. Looks like your Otieno is the last one with fight left."

Lenachan358
Luckily the companion removed his hands and so Otieno didn't have to take any kind of action. He watched Autsu silently and wondered who was inside this body just as big as his. The desire to talk became more and more intense.

Just as he was about to say something he noticed that he other one looked quite finished. Now that his attention wasn't drawn to new experiences any longer he felt the tiredness of his own body. What a strange new world. Otieno trembled slightly as Ranjit's hand supported his back.

"I don't know if Otieno is that intelligent. Right now he just craves for attention and destruction." Ranjit sighed and watched the second baby as it became tired. "Indeed. I'd be happy to invite you to our apartment, if you're interested in talking about these too." The man offered and stroked across Nila's blue cheek.

"He'd never admit that he's tired. I guess it's because his fear of darkness, sometimes he's even afraid to shut his eyes."

lithle
Kniene smiled at the invitation, inclining his head in a slight bow, "I think it would be good for both of them to spend time together again. And it is nice for me to have someone with whom I could discuss the unique problems these little ones present."

Moving his attention to Otieno, he regarded the dark haired infant with a rather sad expression, "I don't like to think of what might have created such phobias, in either of them. But I'm afraid we'll find out eventually."

Still playing absently with Autsu's hair he moved the young boy again, into a position more comfortable for carrying him. It had been nice, to get out, and to give Autsu a chance at interaction. But now, the boy was tired, and he was more than willing to take advantage of that exhaustion. He, too, wanted sleep. "It was a pleasure to have the chance to talk to someone, and to see Autsu play. But I think, for now, it would be best if I got him home, to bed."

Lenachan358
Glad that the other one accepted Ranjit nodded in agreement. "Indeed. These two troublemakers are truly unique." Watching the sleeping babies he couldn't help but smile. They looked so innocent like this, whatever was in their head, it couldn't be completely evil.

"Hopefully." Ranjit added and watched the other one move. Otieno was leaning against his leg now and was nibbling on his claws, which was always an indication for tiredness.

"I bet you're right, but let me give you our phone number first." Fishing a small piece of paper out of his pockets combined with a biro, Ranjit managed to put the numbers onto the blank surface. Handing the note to Kniene he got up as well and placed Nila and Otieno in his arms. "Home sounds like a good idea. It was really nice to meet you and Autsu."

lithle
Awkwardly, Kniene tucked the slip of paper safely away in the diaper bag, reminding himself not to lose it, like he usually did such thing. After all, this wasn't a simple appointment, this was a chance for Autsu to make a real, meaningful connection with another child.

And there was no question that the little boy needed it.

"Thank you, I will call soon." He couldn't exactly wave, not with his hands filled with Autsu, but he did his best to move his fingers in the simulation of that gesture. "May the Lady see you safely home."

And with that quick blessing, Kniene headed back in the direction he had come from, toward home. Perhaps Sethos would be home. There might even be some small chance for conversation. It'd be a nice change.

Meatballs and Snakes

naeodin
"Silver." Ananchel said conversationally. "Why am I here?"

Silver looked back, and frowned. The weather was cool, but warm enough that she wore only a thin jacket, no barrier against the hormonal temperature. Adjusting her grip on Ein (why did children weigh so much?) she shrugged.

"If you're starting with your phiolosophical talk already." she said wearily. "Can I get some coffee first?"

Ananchel frowned, waving her hand. "I mean." she said. "Why do I have to be here, with you, when you're going shopping for shoes? Why do you need so many pairs of shoes? It's a sin, you know."

Silver waited in the streets, about to cross when she frowned. "Huh?"

At the blank reaction, Ananchel shook her head. Did her ward not know anything? Wracking up debt because of the next 'it' shoe, working like a slave for a month and then repeating the process? Ananchel had presumed humans had more sense then this. No wonder they had to be saved.

"And what about Ein? Does a baby who outgrows clothing at such an alarming rate really need a pair of pink shoes?"

Silver nodded her head. "Of course." she said. "Everyone needs pink shoes."

Right in the middle of town, Silver crossed to the other side, taking heed not to slip on the wet patches of pavement. It wasn't too crowded yet, but then-- no many people had the addiction to go shopping at ten thirty in the morning.

Lenachan358
"We need something that won't be torn apart within MINUTES." Andraste growled and moved through the streets watching the shopping windows. A blue boy was situated in her arms and was busily chewing on a rubber toy, which he occiasionally threw on the ground.

The mother sighed and tried to keep him from destroying her own clothes, which of course resulted in same kind of strange dance. She wasn't so fond of this baby, he wasn't as easy as the other kids.

"Stop it, Otieno. STOP IT !" She called out and literally bumped into somebody close to her, who was also holding a strange looking baby. "Sorry !"

Otieno instead threw the toy at Ein to make a proper greeting.

naeodin
Ein was the one to react first.

But because Silver's was quieter, it was easier to notice.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Silver said, bracing herself automatically by tugging on Ananchel's shoulder. Looking up for a brief moment, the blue shade of the baby caught her attention before...

Ein shrieked. She had been settling in very well to this new outfit she was wearing, and Silver's grip on her had strengthened. The girl didn't seem like she was going to drop her any second soon. And so, everything had been fine until something bouncy and hard was thrown into her face. She shrieked, letting her displeasure be known as she stared at the root of her problem.

"Oh." Silver paused. "I'm sorry?" she said, uncertain. Did she have to apologize for the baby as well now?

Lenachan358
Otieno grinned at the other one, quite well noticing that she was a female just like Nila, his sister. He liked to tease them, o yes he did.

Andraste glared at him with anger before she turned to Silver. "Nah, I'm the one that has to be sorry." Facing the blue chuckling boy again she continued. "Throwing rubber duckies at people isn't nice, Otieno."

Somehow the baby didn't seem to comprehend. "I hope she's not hurt. Is she...ok ?" Watching the girl's features Andraste noticed that the other baby looked just as strange as Otieno. At least she wasn't a criminal baby and nerve racking as well.

naeodin
Ein continued to stare. Was this boy laughing at her? Ooooh. She promptly stopped shrieking, scrunching up her face in annoyance. The two tiny snakes in her hair seemed to shift with the baby's change in mood, peering forewords as they hissed lightly.

"And breaking your guardian's ear drums isn't nice either, Ein." Silver said lightly. She knew, vaguely, why the child had been sent here to be reformed as a criminal. But honestly, sometimes Silver had to wonder. Maybe she'd burst someone's eardrums, and that was why she was being punished?

If Silver ruled the world, she would punish someone for just that.

Ananchel slid a quick glance towards Silver, almost as is sensing the nonense going through her ward's head. "Ein is fine. She's endured wo--" Ananchel paused. Well. Maybe that wasn't the right thing to say to a stranger. "Otieno, is it? He is certainly... striking." she commented.

Silver grinned. Oh boy, her seraphim and her subtleties.

Lenachan358
As suddenly something moved inside the girl's hair Otieno's jaw dropped and revealed a pair of sharp teeth. Woo, she had living things ! This could definitely make up for his lost rubber ducky. She was very interesting indeed, perhaps she could be useful for his plan ?

Imitating her scrunched face he tried to make some communication. "Aghaa."

Andraste grinned as she heard Silver's words and nodded in agreement. "Well, indeed. They should consider that they want to be listened to later in life."

Shifting the boy so he couldn't fall off her arms, the woman turned to Ananchel. What was he trying to say ? Endured what ? A slight frown appeared on her forehead, but it melted away as quickly as it had come. This wasn't of her business, anyway.

"Yup, Otieno. He is striking believe me. That's probably because he's not from here...a bit different as you see." Pointing at his teeth Andraste sighed. It had been Ranjit's freaking idea to get the criminal, she wasn't fond of this at all.

"Ein has got some pretty clothes. We were looking for some durable material. Do you know a good shop ?"

naeodin
Aghaa? Such a great, profound word to use! Ein continued to stare, and then she wrinkled her nose. In another show of spastic mood swings, she beamed at the child, reaching out with her hands. Look, he talked!

"Not from around here?" Silver blinked. Well, Andraste seemed more normal compared to the child, and she hadn't included her self in the description. "Is he adopted? Ein is."

Ananchel smirked. Silver would have a field day if anyone thought she had actually _had_ the baby. She was, for a college student, so sensitive to 'child bearing hip' remarks and the like. Stupid girl.

At the question, Silver shrugged. Durable? Oh, dear. She should have thought of that before buying Ein a dress. What if Ein didn't want to wear the dress? It was so pink and poofy and pretty.. will little lace ribbons at the color....

"I'm sorry, I can't help you there." Silver was still lost in thought. If Ein ate the dress, could she get a refund? Maybe dry cleaning would fix it... "I'm still in the phase of 'dress the kid in everything _you_ want, while they can't fight too hard'" she grinned.

Lenachan358
Otieno studied the girl's face and was extremely impressed by something inside her hair. She seemed to be happy now, she liked talking ? His mouth didn't allow him to form useful sentences though, he had tried several times. It didn't make sense.

Frowning hardly he still tried to say something sensible. Ein ? Was that her name ? "E-...Ei...Ein." The baby pronounciated pretty wrong.

"Yeah, he is. It was the person-I-live-with's idea. He's from an organization called IRZS...no...wait...IRSC ? no..." Scratching her head the mother sighed as Otieno tried to wiggle closer to the girl and almost fell out of her arms.

Wondering if she ever had been into that phase Andraste listened to the words and had to grin. She hated pink. It took her quite a bit to respond politely. "Otieno destroys usual clothes much too quickly. So I was looking for something like a raincoat ?" It sounded strange, nobody dressed their kids in plastic.

As the baby mentioned the other girl's name though she stared at him in shock. "NO ! Don't talk !"

That was her name, wasn't it? Yep. Although she's been called many things... Ein didn't like half the things that woman called her. (Who likes being called brat? And messy? And pooper? Who likes being called pooper?!) so she wriggled, clapping her hands in delight and bouncing up and down in Silver's arms.

Silver, half between trying to pay attention (she was NOT going to drop the baby, dammit! She hadn't dropped her yet!) to Ein and to Andraste, frowned. "Is it a criminal relocation thing? With a man who happens to be at a spa?" Just like Silver to remember the... ah... important things. "And a yellow girl? Because we adopted Ein from there as well." Silver grinned. "That was Ananchel's way of making me into a good samaritan..." she rushed over the last word, knowing that she had probably mispronounced it.

Silver frowned. "Why? Aren't babies supposed to talk? Although..." okay, fine. That baby scared her. No way in damn she was letting it come near her fingers. Or toes. Thank goodness she didn't have any other dangly bits. How did babies like that _feed_ when newborn? "Maybe it's better if the noise makes sense?" she asked hopefully.

Please say yes, she thought.

Lenachan358
Otieno just grinned in satisfaction as he saw Ein's face and Andraste's horror. He loved to tease her, the baby knew very well that she wasn't quite fond of him. Did she think he was stupid just because he was encaged in this body ?

Andraste frowned. "Well, I wasn't there, but my...male person...he told me about it being a criminal relocation thing and a yellow girl. Never heard anything about a spa." She shrugged, but was finally interested in Ein. "That's interesting. Is she as troublesome as Otieno ?"

Trying to keep the boy to dig his nails into her flesh Andraste winced. "Well...do you have any other children ? When my oldest son started to talk it only became...more...exhausting." She tried to express it as nicely as possible and hoped the others wouldn't think she was a bad mother. She wasn't, Andraste only announced her opinion.

Ein made grabbing notions, pausing as she wrinkled her nose. The snake in her hair hissed in reply, and she scowled again. What was that thing in front of her?

Hmmm... Ein wondered if he bited...ed. Bitededed. Giggling by herself (she was remarkably good at keeping her self company), Ein paused, wrinkled her nose and streeetched~ to reach the boy again.

"Troublesome?" Silver frowned, and nodded her head empathically. "but she's my only child, so I suppose everything is all relative." she smiled quickly. "Other children It must be..."

Well.

"Terrifying." she said before she could really think about it. Wasn't it? "Ein is okay, I suppose. She likes me..."

Ein shot her a look of amusement.

"...and listens to me when she wants to."

Lenachan358
Watching the hissing snake with interest Otieno managed to grab Ein's hand as Andraste accidently made a step forward. Now they were bonded...what now ?

Trying to remember his meeting with Autsu he wondered if hugging or touching was a good thing. So as usual Otieno decided to do nothing before the other one hadn't reacted.

"Only child ! It's all different then." Andraste smiled friendly and watched Otieno's strange attempts to reach the other baby. "I suppose he doesn't like me, but he's alright with Ranjit." She sighed and wondered if it possibly was her own fault.

naeodin
Ein beamed. Look, touch! Far as she could remember, (and she had been given a lot of time to remember), Ein couldn't remember another kid being so friendly to her before. Peeking at the blue hand in interest, (it was blue! Look! She could color that with paper in the future!) she paused.

But, being a baby, she was over come with baby urges.

"Not like you?" Silver sounded honestly puzzled by this, and then by the odd munching noises. What was...

"EIN!" Ananchel said loudly, alarmed.

Ein looked up from where she continued to gnaw on the hand. She didn't have her teeth yet, and look-- it fit! Kind of. She could only gnaw on the knuckles, and in the process drooled over over the hand.

Hehehe. It was soft up here~~

Lenachan358
Otieno's mouth formed an O as Ein tried to swallow his hand. Luckily he knew this kind of game and giggled, because her non-existant teeth tickled his knuckles. The boy knew that he couldn't do it, because his teeth seemed to hurt people. He liked to punish Andraste and Nila, but he didn't know about Ein.

"Ein." He repeated proudly.

"No, he's not fond of my company..." Andraste answered and actually started to giggle as she noticed the disappearing hand. "Seems like he enjoys being sucked on." The woman grinned.

"What about those snakes in her hair ? Do they bite ?"

naeodin
Gnawing determinedly, Ein blinked when she heard her name being said again. Why, look at this! He liked saying her name... which was good, because she really liked hearing it.

"Uh huh." Silver said, scowling at the memory. "They... it..." she? "Well, they don't like being washed, and..." Silver shrugged. "I've got scars from that episode." she said, grinning empathically.

Ananchel sighed. Her ward and her dramatics... it was a wonder that she was studying history, instead of theater arts.

"I'm sorry. I'm Silver. This is Ananchel. And... would you like to sit down somewhere, for something to drink? It's the first time I've come across another criminal baby, and... well. I'm still not used to carrying Ein for so long."

The words left her mouth in a rush, and Ein beamed.

Sit down? Whee!

Lenachan358
Otieno looked at his now wet hand and shook it. Some drops landed on Andraste's face he groaned. The baby giggled satisfied and watched the girl on the other person's arm.

"Sounds difficult as well. I'm probably lucky that he didn't bring any pets a long." Ruffling through the boys hair Andraste nodded yes.

"Sure, we can still buy the clothes afterwards and it's nice to talk to you. Want to go to the cafe over there ?" Pointing at a certain shop labelled as cheap, the woman spoke. "Andraste."

Otieno seemed quite pleased and rubbed his head against Andraste's shoulder. He wanted to sit down now and wanted to eat. NOW !
Perhaps he could try and say another word as well ?

"Foooooooot"

naeodin
Silver grinned, relaxing. "That would be great."

At the word, Ein giggled. Feet! Wriggling her own toes in reply, shge made an oogly face, because proper words were still too hard for her yet. Her mouth didn't seem to want to listen to her any more! Well. Neither did her feet, sometimes. Or her hands. But she wanted to taaaaalk.

So she settled for the oogly face. When Silver tugged her away from chewing grasp of the boy and moved her towards the cafe, she began to wriggle.

Furiously.

"She's more of a handful then I expected." Silver said, bouncing Ein slightly to show who she was talking about. At the unexpected movement Ein stopped wriggling and giggled, waving her arms around and commanding more bounces. "and I'm still a little bit uneasy about the fact that they were..." well. She blinked. "you know." Criminals.

Ein looked too cute to be a criminal.

Ananchel moved ahead, clearly wanting to put some distance between herself and the subject.

Silver continued to talk. "Sometimes I wonder if she wants to tell me something that she can't? Like a foreigner, or those paralyzed people."

Ein waved her arms at Otieno. Look! Her mommy bounced her!

"But then she giggles like that, and she's like a normal kid again!"

Silver paused. Wait. Had she talked too much again?

Lenachan358
Slowly moving towards the cafe Andraste listened to the other woman's words and just nodded once in a while. She was one of those talking persons probably. Andraste knew that she wasn't one herself, but sometimes she enjoyed to listen and to say nothing at all.

Otieno noticed the movement of Ein's feet and shook his head. No no, he had meant the eating stuff. Kocking his head to one side he opened and closed his mouth to make clear what he wanted. Didn't she like to eat ?

"Uneasy. Indeed." Looking at the boy with suspicion Andraste sighed. "Sometimes I just suggest he does things on purpose, but I don't know...if he's a real baby or just sometimes...weird."

Otieno growled slightly, but then focused on Ein again. He wanted to be bounced as well ! Poking Andraste with his claws he looked up at her and tried to look as nicely as possible.

The woman was startled and blinked several times. She moved one hand through his hair, which caused Otieno just to sigh. She didn't understand.

"I can understand, Ein is really lovely. She doesn't have..teeth."

As they reached the cafe Andraste sat down on a chair and just rearranged Otieno on her lap.

naeodin
Ein blinked. Now, why was Otieno doing a fish impression? Hmmm... oh, was it animal impression time, then? Ein flapped her arms then, trying to quack like a duck. If he could do a fish impression, she could do duck impressions!

Silver frowning, holding the baby a little bit away so as to avoid the movements of the arms. Wincing as she sat down, she giggled as she caught the last couple of words.

"Does he bite? A lot?" she amended her words with a nod. Well. If her baby had teeth... she paused, and blinked. "Why don't the babies breast feed? Do you think when Otieno was really, really young, he would have had to? Do you think that would have hurt."

Ananchel blushed. "Please, Silver." she said. "We're in public."

Silver blinked. So? It was an honest question.

Lenachan358
Otieno growled. No, no, she couldn't do it right. She was a stupid girl ! Hitting with his tiny fists onto the table he barked at Ein. "Ein ! Ein !"

Andraste just glanced at the boy for a moment and decided that she needed a strong coffee now.

"Yeah, he loves chewing and biting and ruining our couch. He often bites his sister too." Otieno didn't seem to mind that she stated this and just continued his rambling.

That was a weird question. Perhaps the mothers on his planet had gummy breasts ?

Andraste grinned at the thought and nodded towards Ananchel. "Ack, don't worry. I gave birth to a fishbaby, I'm used to such things." Wait. That had to sound even more strange.

"Well, she has blue skin like Otieno...like the guy I live with." Scratching her head she continued. "You know, I breast feed her, but I think nobody could do that to Otieno." One of her hands moved closer to Silver. "See these marks. He did it."

naeodin
Ein continued to stare. Did he like her name so much? Frowning as she tried to work it out, she stared intently, the snakes in her hair hissing as is trying to lull her mind into ... well, receptiveness.

Ein did not like this whole baby thing any more.

"Bleh." making a noise of defeat, Ein turned her head, staring at Ananchel. Rubbing her stomach, she made imploring eyes. She was hungry! All that quacking had made her work up an appetite.

"A fish baby?" Silver's mind set her a picture of a blue fish with human arms and legs attached to it's body. Deciding that it probably must not look like that, Silver smiled. "Oh, the person you live with? Why is your other child part fish? Is your..." she paused. husband. lover... hmmm... "Is he part fish?"

At the marks on her arms, Silver widened her eyes and oohed and ahed appropriately. Actually, she liked threatrics, and besides, it was scary. With a sliding glance of (respect) wariness at the little boy, she blinked.

"I thought I had it back with the two snakes." she said.

Ananchel coughed lightly. "Would you like to order? And Ein wants something to eat."

Lenachan358
Otieno became tired quite quickly and allowed his had to drop onto the table. He heard the hisses, but he didn't care. He was hungry and tired and he wanted to be able to express himself better to this girl. The boy didn't even react as she seemed disgusted.

"Well, she has red hair and blue skin and pointed ears. No fins actually. I feared she'd have such a shark thing and...ouch." Andraste's face wrinkled as she thought about it. "Actually she's part Nokke. That's a race that lures people into rivers and such and sings and is blue. They have legs so."

Blushing horribly Andraste scratched her head. "He is...the baby's father, but we're not a couple or something. We...used to be colleagues at work. He is part Nokke and yeah, so is Nila." It was an embarrassing fact, but Andraste wasn't good enough at making up stories so quickly.

"Sure, I think I'd like a coffee and Otieno could use something to eat as well. What would you like ?" Poking the small one, she only received a grumble as an answer. "Perhaps some meat balls." The mother decided.

naeodin
Meatballs? Ein sparked up at then, beaming. Turning her head and nodding furiously at Ananchel (she knew what _they_ were. And they were biiiiiig!) she frowned, waving her arms in a gigantic circle.

"I'll get it." Ananchel offered. "The waiter doesn't seem to be interested in us yet." Silver opened her mouth to order and was met with. "Milk. You need milk. Calcium."

Silver sulked, turning her attention to Andraste. "Nila sounds really pretty." she said honestly, nodding her head. She didn't mention anything about the baby's father. Actually, Silver thought it sounded romantic. Not a couple, but living together and with two kids? Siiigh.

Ein continued to stare at Otieno's head. Why was it on the table? Hmmm... maybe he could hear something through the vibration? Mimicing the actions, Ein frowned.

No. No. She couldn't hear anything yet.

Lenachan358
One of Otieno's ears twitched slightly as he pressed his forehead against the table's surface. He heard the voices, but he wouldn't come back to living until his food was there. Ein didn't seem to understand his cravings anyway.

Pouting suddenly an idea flashed through the young mind. Slowly his teeth made their way into the table's material.

"Thank you." Andraste nodded towards Ananchel and turned back to Silver. "Milk ? Aww come on, why do you have to ?" It was supposed to sound friendly, but regarding Andraste's way of thinking not everybody could understand it in that way.

She laughed as she saw Ein imitating Otieno. "Looks like they get along. Strange kiddos."

naeodin
Ein stared. Looking down at the table, she frowned. She attempted to bite through, except it hurt her mouth a LOT! Staring suspiciously at those teeth, she propped her chin onto the table and continued to stare.

Rather goulishly.

"She thinks she's my mother." Silver grumbled. And grinned. "Came to join the household before, to make sure I led a good and exemplery..." she had no idea how to pronounce the word. "life? Or something." making a face at the thought of milk, (come on, it came from COWS!) she frowned.

"I'm surprised." Silver admitted. "I didn't think a boy with fangs would take to a girl like..." she waved her hand at Ein's head, and one of the snakes arched back to give her a dirty look.

Silver was still sulking after the biting incident.

Lenachan358
Otieno noticed that it hurt is teeth as well and pulled them out of the table. He had made some funny markings and proudly he pointed at them. Ein didn't seem so excited about it and so he cocked his head to one side and waved at the girl.

Then he poked out his tongue and grinned.

"Oh...sound difficult." Andraste grinned. She wasn't the only one with strange relationships as it seemed. Silver started to appear sympathic to her now. "I bet you're able to deal with it though."

"Snakes." The woman added and looked at the hair again with interest. "Isn't there some kind of myth ?...Medusa or something. Wow, perhaps she'll be able to turn people into stone figures later !"

naeodin
Silver laughed. She couldn't help it. "You know, knowing Ein's temperment, it's going to be one of those things that she regrets." There was some (SOME) amusement in her tone, because Ein was Ein. "She's like that. One minute hurling abuse and the next acting as if your the most important thing in the world."

Ananchel came back with their orders quick enough to hear the last comment. "She's going to wrap the men around her finger when she grows up." Ananchel smiled, placing napkins and cutlery down. "They said they'll bring it around." she explained.

Ein giggled at the tonge poking. The markings didn't interest her too much. (She couldn't compete with _that_. Hey... maybe her hair could... nah. Did snake babies even have strong teeth?) It was a different color! Making goo goo noises now, she reached out. Forgetting the generalities of biology, she strained across the table to pat Otieno's nose/tongue area.

Lenachan358
"At least she has different moods. Otieno is always grumpy or likes to sleep or to eat. I wouldn't call it a mood though, it's just...him." Andraste shrugged and watched the babies' game with interest.

As Ananchel came back she nodded to show that she had heard what she said. Hopefully the meat balls would come soon, Otieno appeared to be hungry.

"Perhaps she'll be able to calm him down later on. Would be great."

"Ein !" The blue baby repeated as he noticed her coming closer. Was the hug thing about to come now ? Friendship and such ? As he felt a hand directly on his face Otieno's eyes widened in shock. What was she doing ? What was he supposed to do ? How ?

Quickly he tried to push her hand away with his own ones.

naeodin
Eeee! He wanted to hold her hand! Knowing that sometimes her own motor functions didn't listen to her, and deciding that the pushing away action was only part of this, she squealed, wiggling her feet in an attempt to get away from her guardian to to latch onto this strange blue thing.

Grasping his hands rather firmly, she giggled. Look-- were they friends now? She thought so! It had never been so _easy_ before. And this boy was so friendly, wanting to hold her hand already!

Silver blinked. Half distracted by Ein's movements, she lost track of the last couple of words being said by Andraste in favor for watching with a sense of... well, bewilderment. Wait, was she supposed to stop this? Or what?

"Where did the name Otieno come from?" Silver asked.

Lenachan358
Otieno was overwhelmed by Ein's squealing and regarded as an attack more than friendship. What was going on ? What was happening ? His mind was puzzled with the way she reacted and as his hands were touched he hadn't any choice but to grab hers firmly as well. The only difference was that he had claws and their tips probably reached her skin.

"Eeeee !" He screamed and tried to look for some help, even if it was Andraste.

The woman was just about to answer as the piercing scream could be heard. "What is it ?" Looking down she couldn't notice anything that might hurt him, but his claws looked pretty dangerous. "No, come on, stop it." She growled and tried to get the small hands away from each other.

"It was his father's choice. He said it came right into his mind when he saw him. We looked it up later on, it means born at night, which is pretty freaky regarding that he's scared of the darkness."

naeodin
Ein let out a shriek when the nails pierced through her skin. Flailing her arms and screaming (but still holding on) she was scowling, her snake hissing and her eyes blinking furiously as she tried to figure out why she was in so much pain. How could someone want to hold her hand and then cause her so much paaaaiin?

Silver looked down, alarmed. At first, she wasn't able to tell what was wrong. They were holding hands! Don't tell me that Ein's scared of holding hands? When it finally hit her, Silver had to control a little snort.

"Ein." she said, wrapping the hands away. Ein blinked as she loosened her grip. Shaking her head, she stared. Oh, they were only pinching! And it wasn't Otieno's fault-- he had nails. She was sure if she had nails she'd be like that too.

Beaming again just as quickly, she nodded her head. Yes. Yes, she understood eveeerything.

"Scared? Of something?" Silver smirked. "I can see him scared because he's a baby. But... he's a very formidable baby."

Ananchel shrugged. "Ein is as well." she said a little bit defensibly.

Because Silver had a chance to retort, she pointed. "Meatballs!"

Lenachan358
Otieno forced himself to look at Ein and he winced as he noticed her expression. Yeah, she understood now ! He growled slightly as Andraste and Silver partened their hands, but still he was content. She understood now.

The boy sighed and closed his eyes for a second, before opening them again. This girl was puzzling, why was she smiling again ?

"Eiiin." He demanded as Andraste answered to Silver's question. "Oh yeah, very scared. He hates us to switch off the lights. But otherwise he's not so easily scared."

As the meatballs came closer Otieno sniffed and his face lightened up. Food ! Andraste picked one of them and shoved them into the baby's mouth. At once he started to much happily.

naeodin
Silver laughed. Hey, she liked the way Andraste fed her kid! Picking one up on a fork and cutting off the excess sauce, she lifted it towards Ein's face. At first, she stared at it with some disgust-- eew, meat rolled up like that? What sort of animal was round and bumpy? Eew! But at the sight of Otieno eating quite happily, (and deciding that if it was poisonous, he would have died already) she reached for it, licking at the edges.

Hmmm... it was tasty!

Bouncing up and down, she wiggled, waving her arm to get the boy's attention and point to the food. Look, it was tasty! And biiig. She liked _this_. And she wanted everyone to know.

"Light, is it?" Deciding that Ein was too distracted to care, Silver shared. "Ein's scared of solitude. I think she'll grow out of it eventually, but she always needs... companionship. Makes me wonder what it was that happened before that led to this." she only knew vaguely why Ein had been a criminal. It was something she didn't like to think about. (What if Ein had been a blood thirsty rapist?! And living in her new house....) but that didn't mean she didn't want to know about everyone else.

"If you don't mind me asking." she said, knowing it was the proper way to start a nosy sentence. "Why, was..." she tilted her head and raised a brow.

Ananchel picked up the glass of milk and waved it in front of Silver's face. Maybe this would shut her up.

Lenachan358
Otieno grinned and revealed some pieces of meat on his teeth while doing so. Ein seemed nicer now that she enjoyed the balls just as he did. One of his hands tried to reach another one of the delicious pieces. "Eeet." He demanded and Andraste's hand quickly gave him what he desired for.

Laughing he looked at it and turned his eyes to Ein, to see if she noticed how to eat this meal properly.

"I guess this habit will become exhausting when she grows. Imagine a clingy teen." Andraste continued to feed her little monster and suddenly realized that one of her own children wasn't too far away from teenage hood. Oh no...She quickly shoved the thought away into a corner of her mind.

"Why was what ?" That was one of those baaad sentences which weren't finished. But Andraste really enjoyed the conversation and even if something inpolite was going to follow, she didn't care.

naeodin
Ein stared, and laughed. Look, he had food stuck all over his teeth! Rubbing her own teeth with her finger to show him, her eyes narrowed with delight. Huh. So you were supposed to bite it too? Wondering if this was something like the table, (something only people with fangs could do) she nibbled thoughtfully.

... Oh, she liked this!!

With sauce smeared on her lips, she beamed.

"Teen?" Silver blanched. "I'm having trouble figuring out how I'm supposed to send her to kindergarten. Do you think maybe they'll send us a parenthood bible to follow soon?" she paused, thoughtful. Hmmm... that would work!

"Why was Otieno turned into a child again?" Ananchel asked bluntly for her, interrupting their conversation.

Silver nodded, and drank her milk. Caclium. Ugh.

Lenachan358
Otieno watched the girl rubbing her own teeth and imitated her quickly. That was a funny feeling and it made some meat drop onto his tongue. He started to rub faster, but accidently his finger slipped out of his mouth and went right into his nose.

Stupid baby actions ! Otieno tried to pull it out as quickly as possible.

Andraste shrugged. "I hope so, but I doubt that it'll work for our kind of children anyway." With a slight hint of disgust the woman shoved another meatball towards the boy's feet. At least he was occupied, he could take a bath at home.

As she heard Ananchel's question Andraste frowned slightly. She hated the whole criminal business. "No clue...Ranjit, his 'father', mumbled something about disturbing the peace or so. He was only wearing a loin cloth when he arrived, I've been told." Thinking about the question she eyed Ein again.

"So do you have some more information about Ein ?"

naeodin
"ppfftth." Ein spluttered, and quickly tried to clean up her face of the extra food particles. Messy food! Trying to get out of her mouth all but itself... giggling, she pointed.

Otieno was a nose picker!

Silver shook her head. With a frown in Ananchel's direction, she said. "Not really. I mean, Ananchel's seen a photo of her before, but..." she stopped. Wait. Maybe this wasn't the kind of conversation you were supposed to have with strangers? "Ananchel dealt with most of it. I didn't want to find out more about it, because... well. I think I sleep better not knowing if Ein was a gigantic axe murdering rapist from another world."

Frank. She had to get it out. And find out if someone else agreed with her, because Ananchel only thought that she was crazy.

Lenachan358
Otieno grabbed the meatball which was lying in front of him and laughed at Ein's expression. Did she want another one ? For sure. Although he wasn't strong Otieno managed to throw the small meatball in the girl's direction.

Andraste's eyes trailed towards Ananchel. Seemed like she was the good and serious person then, like Ranjit. Perhaps Silver was a bit like herself ?
"Yeah, I'm not really fond of knowing what he did or how strange he was regarding how strange he still is." She grinned a bit to ease herself and continued. "Well, don't worry though, I'm a bodyguard, I could protect you. I guess."

With a growl she hit Otieno's small hand slightly. It wasn't much of a hit, just a pat. "We don't throw with the food !"

naeodin
Ein blinked, seeing the flying food and with a slight squeak, flung her arms open. Eeeee!! Slightly stupefied, but managing to catch, she held it tight to her chest, ignoring the fact that...

Oooh. Did she have food down her clothing now? Curious, she made sure Silver had missed that, and hunching juuust slightly, began to chew. She'd wait until it was all dry and gross before telling Silver that she had food down her front.

With a noise rolled around the food in pleasure, she nodded her head. Thank yew! She would have said.

Ananchel blinked, catching the smudge, and shrugged. Well. It wasn't as if she did the washing anyways. What did it matter to her?

"You too?" Silver asked, and relaxed. And then began to laugh. "A bodyguard, huh?"

Silver wondered. Hey, maybe it was like those romance novels, and... "Did you meet your partner through your job? Was it romantic?" Her eyes were almost, shining.

Lenachan358
Otieno grinned. She should throw one back, it would so make Andraste freak out ! Clapping with his small blue hands he applauded Ein. She had managed to catch it and he knew that it wasn't easy with that kind of baby body.

"Eiin." He announced again and looked for another one of these meatballs. How sad, they were gone ! Otieno started to whimper.

Andraste didn't seem to care but listened to Silver. "Yeah, bodyguard." The woman wrinkled her nose though as the questions continued. "I wouldn't call it romantic. We worked together, he was oh-so-romantic-I-love-you-style. I said no. One day he helped me with my older child and we went into a bar. I got drunk. We had sex. I got pregnant. That's it."

Phew.

naeodin
She liked listening to people say her name. Continuing to chew, she paused, looking back up at the noise. What was wrong with him? ... was it a diaper problem? Because she hated the diaper problem. You'd think she'd be able to control _that_ much of her bodily functions.

Wiggling in her lap, she shifted, and Silver's hands relaxed enough that Ein could lean across the table properly. Frowning, and making a noise that sounded more like 'ogoo' then Otieno, she stopped. 'Ot!' except then it came out more like an Oh-- it a sharp tense at the end of it.

Silver sighed. "It still sounds romantic to me, like... the baby bought you together, and now you're going to go through the romantic love love stage together! Except, you know. You've got the change diapers and feed babies in the middle of it."

She nodded. Yes. That sounded about right.

Lenachan358
Otieno was about to cry as he watched Ein on the other side of the table. She was able to talk as well ? Why hadn't she done it before. Distracted by the red-haired girl the boy just sobbed a bit and then grinned. "Palllll..."

Pointing at the empty tablet he frowned.

"Nah, nothing romantic about it." Andraste mumbled, but decided not to shatter Silver's dreams. Perhaps she was one of these lucky people who were fond of life and such. "Well, at least I've got some kind of family now." The woman had to admit and smiled slightly.

Sipping her coffee she watched the babies. "I wonder if they can do some kind of telepathy or so."

naeodin
Ein beamed. So what if the words didn't make too much sense yet? Deciding not to push the issue, she offered her the remains of her meatball.

And threw it with two hands, swinging up as if she was playing volleyball.

Wondering belatedly if it would land with a splat on the table, she continued to stare.

"Telepathy?" Silver blinked. And then frowned. And then shook her head. No. No! "That's scary." she said uneasily. "Past criminal babies trying to take over the world?"

Okay. So Silver wasn't quite sure where the taking over the world theory had come from... but that was what she would have done!

Lenachan358
Otieno stared at the flying meatball and opened his mouth. He already imagined the soft meat on his tongue and giggled happily as he suddenly felt something wet trickling down his forehead. Opening his eyes he tried to touch the something on his head and it was indeed the meatball.

Alright, a bit hairy, but still good. Otieno quickly devoured the treat, before Andraste could yell at him.

And so she did after making a comment on criminal babies as a good movie plot. "OTIENO !" She sighed and looked at the baby with a growl. "What did I tell you ? That's not good for you, that was dirty."

naeodin
Ein made a spluttering noise- have laugh, half hiccup that got caught over the noise. Clapping her hands over her mouth to keep it in, her eyes shinning with delight, she nodded her head.

Yes! Well, with more practice, she'd make it to the mouth. Turning at the reprimand though, Ein belatedly remembered that...

uh oh.

Patting her own chest and coming away with gunk, she sent a slightly sneaky look towards her guardian.

Maybe she hadn't noticed it yet..

"Hygiene, cleanliness..." Silver frowned. "You know, it's actually quite hard, keeping track of it all. Making sure she brushes her teeth properly, washes her hands, flushes the toilet..." she chewed on her lip thoughtfully. "Do you think, because they were kind of reincarnated, they have toughter immune systems?"

Lenachan358
Otieno just grinned at Andraste and licked the sauce away as it slowly trickled down towards his mouth. Perhaps that would mean that he had to take a bath at home, but freaking hell NO he wouldn't go.

As he watched Ein patting her chest he quickly imitated her, but didn't find anything interesting in it. It just hurt.

"It's very very hard. He hates to take a bath. Gosh, Otieno hates almost anything. I wonder if he had such a hard life before that he's fond of nothing !" Taking out her purse to count the money for the food they had Andraste sighed.

"That's a good idea though. Luckily he wasn't ill yet. I'm really not interested in seing him ill. It's hard enough to find diapers with a proper hole for his tail, but luckily I know a nice shop for that."

Watching him follow her actions had the snakes in her hair perk with interest. She raised her arm and waved from side to side, like the tree she had seen in that show, with the beach. Sway, sway sway~~

Silver giggled. "You know, I know exactly what you mean. Well, kind of. Ein has scales going down her black, vicious black ones... it was so difficult trying to find the proper soothing cream and oil to rub on it. And then the snakes. Do you know I actually have to sometimes try and brush their teeth?" Silver shook her head, shuddering.

Clear enough, she and the appendages did not get along.

Following Andraste's example, Silver dug into her pocket and pulled out some notes. Two, three... no wait, that's a five. With a satisfied nod, she neatly pressed them out and then folded it in half. There. That was her half.

Now she was a tail ! Otieno wiggled with his own stub and wondered why it wasn't as long as he wished it to be. So he continued to wiggle a bit stronger.

Andraste picked the little package up and put him on the table for a moment so she could find the right amount of money. O there it was ! Putting her half beside Silver's she smiled.

Otieno instead enjoyed to show his wiggling stub.

"Sounds really difficult. If I ever see a special snake toothbrush, I'll let you know. They have almost everything on Gaia, I guess."

Ein peekabooed at the stub, and stubbed wiggling. Hey, she didn't have one of those! Craning her neck to see if maybe she had grown a tail while eating meatballs (maybe meatballs had tail growing powers?) she shook slightly in Silver's lap.

Silver frowned. "Ein." she said.

Delighted when Otieno was at a closer distance, Ein reached out and pat pat patted the part of him closest to her, nodding. Yes. Wait. Why was he so close? Eyeing the exchange of money with suspicion (maybe they were being swapped?) she frowned.

Silver smirked. "And male clothing with tail stubs." she said, reminding herself. Well, that was one person she wouldn't worry about when it comes to exchanging christmas presents.

Getting up, Silver hoisted the bag over her shoulder, and then Ein. Startling, Ein tried to hold on, only to find herself... dragged.

"It was a pleasure to meet the both of you." Ananchel said quietly.

Otieno hit Ein's hand back as she tried to pat his leg and hissed a bit, but not as fiercely as before. He knew her now, she was just a bit...touchy.

"Indeed." Andraste smiled and got up as well to pick up the blue baby boy from the table. It was obvious that he wasn't fond of this, but after all the acquaintances he appeared pretty tired. At once he started to nibble on Andraste's shirt, but just to lull himself to sleep.

"Hope to see you soon. Have a nice day." The woman waved as she went away with the boy. Now shopping would be much easier.

Horror Haircut

Otieno growled. "Nooooooo !" Trying to hit the scissor with his claws, he hissed at Andraste, who severely tried to reach his hair. Jacosa had volunteered to play with Nila until the procedure was finished. But it was far from being finished anyway.

Ranjit was at work and after the encounter with Ein, Andraste feared that strange snakes might come out of the boys hair. Well, not really, but at least it was a possibility.

"No no no no no !" Otieno repeated as Andraste grabbed the boy and clutched him to her own chest. "Listen boy, we need to cut your hair now." But Otieno shook his head and although the woman was angry she didn't intend to hurt him with the sharp object.

"See, it's better for all of us. You will be able to see and I will be able to make sure that you won't get snakes." The mother told the boy who was covering his face with his hands. He didn't like this at all. Now that his hair was dark, he wasn't fond of it anyway, but still he didn't want it to be cut. Otieno wanted it to be long and definitely not short ! What a waste !

A grin spread on Andraste's face as she looked down at the boy. "How about some cookies if you let me cut your hair ?" Otieno looked up. Did she think he was that stupid ? No, indeed he wasn't.

Andraste screamed as she suddenly felt something wet on her face. "Don't you DARE to spit at me !" Otieno chuckled, but his joy shouldn't last for long. "You little blue thing, not come on..." Looking for two plastic gloves Andraste stormed into the kitchen and arrived back just a few seconds later.

Although Otieno struggled she managed to put them onto his hands and to tie them with a few pieces of cloth. "That suits you right, little bugger."

"Nooo !" Otieno screamed and wailed kicking his legs in pure horror. What did this mean woman do to him ? But Andraste didn't know any mercy and started to cut his hair. Black strands were falling onto the ground and Otieno's eyes started to get watery. Tears were running down his cheeks as Andraste finished.

The woman turned him around and was just about to tell him how pretty he looked as she noticed the tears. Oh dear.

"Hey." She said softly and stroked across the boys cheek. He had loved his hair, although it was black. Not daring to take his gloves off the woman cradled the crying one into her arms and rocked him slightly. Seemed like he was just a little baby after all.

A Toddler

Ranjit laughed as he saw Otieno toddling towards the couch and back into his arms. "Excellent ! You're doing great, Oti." The man laughed at the boy who was dressed in his yellow raincoat.

Having grown a bit, it seemed like his body was now able to walk. Otieno grinned sheepishly as he moved into his father's arms. He had tried to do this several times before, but until now his legs had seemed to weak for walking. It was astonishing how firm they were now and that he was able to walk without a stick or anything related. He felt so...so...healthy !

As he tried to kick with one of the nice new legs, he had to experience that he wasn't as good as he thought. With a thud the toddler landed on his butt and growled.

"Don't worry, you'll get used to it and you still have the diaper." Ranjit said friendly and picked the small one up. "I'm proud of you, Oti." The boy just growled and pressed his nose against the man's shoulder. O how he hated to be so tiny !

Easter - Part I

Andraste and Ranjit woke up as a squealing otter didn't dare to come out of his room. "EGGS !" He called out and pointed at several places, where he had spotted colourful beings.

The parents just grinned, even Andraste seemed to enjoy his happiness. Ranjt moved towards the children rooms and moved to wake up Otieno and Nila. The baby girl was already awake in her small crib and blinked at the father. "Tsk, there's not another baby around as quite as you, Nila." Ranjit mumbled as he picked her up and moved into Otieno's room.

The blue boy was still fast asleep and his tail was only twitching slightly. Ranjit touched his shoulder carefully and as always Otieno seemed pretty scared until he noticed that it was only his father, who was waking him. "NO !" He growled, but as sleepy as he was, he was much too astonished as Ranjit picked him up and dragged him into the hallway where Jacosa was already looking around happily.

"Can we go and search for them now ?" His dark eyes were sparkling as Ranjit sat Otieno down, who had to hold on the wall to be able to stand properly. The walking thing was still a bit difficult to him.

Nila yawned and nuzzled her father's shoulder. Her bright blue eyes watched the brothers though as they moved into the living room. "Alright boys, go and look for the eggs now." Andraste smiled as Jacosa dashed off and Otieno watched her for a moment before he followed.

Easter - Part II

After a while Jacosa had managed to calm down and a lot of sparkly Easter eggs had found their way into his basket. Ranjit had helped Otieno to gather a few of them as well and the boy watched the otter with jealous green eyes. Jac didn't seem to mind to share though and offered one of his prettiest eggs to Nila, who patted it with one hand and then seemed to decide that other people could carry it for her.

Andraste wasn't sure if she understood what was going on, but she seemed content and that's what counted. Otieno had settled down on the floor and tried to work through the egg's shell with his teeth. Lucklily the eggs were hard enough for his teeth. The parents had found a special shop for such cases and shared a knowing grin.

"That's cool. They are too nice to eat them though." Jacosa commented as he looked at his Mommy and smiled revealing his missing tooth.

"Are you ready for more presents now ? I guess the Easter bunny left a few more." Ranjit smiled and pointed at the kitchen that had been avoided until now. Before Jacosa could do anything Otieno slowly crawled towards said room. He knew that he wasn't as fast when he walked and tried to kick the door open with a snort. Even Andraste had to laugh as Jacosa opened the door and helped the blue boy inside, who just hissed at the older one.

Nila patted her mother's cheek and pointed at the door, which caused Andraste to follow the boys. Sometimes she wondered if her daughter just didn't want to speak.

So they entered the kitchen and Jacosa's eyes went wide as he saw a present on the table, which strangely resembled a racket. His name was sparkling on a card close to it and there was also an Easter nest filled with chocolate eggs and bunnies. Looking back at Ranjit who just nodded he moved to sit down on a chair and almost hurt his tail by hitting against the wood.

While the otter seemed occupied Andraste and Ranjit moved over to a small corner, where they had put a few pillows for the smaller ones to sit at. Of course there was a nest for Otieno as well and a very small one for Nila, but the most astonishing things were the two close to them.

Right beside Nila's small nest lay a furry something. As Nila was sat down close to it she eyed it very suspiciously before touching it with one finger. The pet moved and Nila moved away a bit as a head appeared just as hoves came out of the light pink body. The Nokke baby blinked and extended her hand again while the creature started to sniff at it. It had funny green points all over it's fur and something that appeared to be a second head on it's chest. Nila didn't seem to mind though and leaned against it quickly after feeling it's fur. The Yhapi squeaked, but didn't move.

"That's Russel." Andraste told the blue baby girl and Ranjit frowned. "You can't just name it !" The mother shrugged. "She's not able too and it needs name until then, ne ?" The man sighed and turned towards Otieno as he was almost hit by a tennis racket.

"LOOK HOW COOL IT IS !" Jacosa screamed and tried to hit imaginary balls. "Does it mean I can really play tennis now ?" He asked very excited and jumped up and down more looking like a bunny than an otter. As Andraste nodded he jumped even higher and almost hit the oven when wiggling around with the racket.

Ranjit had kneeled down beside Otieno, who was clinging to a strange kind of mask and had started to poke it. A small dark blue head was slowly coming out of the mask and looked at the boy with red eyes. Otieno was startled at first, but then decided to taste the pet. Before Ranjit could do anything he had pushed his teeth into the mask. The pet luckily didn't react and so Otieno let go of it pretty quickly.

"It's a Beom. Name him quickly before your mother does." Ranjit whispered while Andraste was still busy with Jacosa. Otieno turned his gaze back to the creature, who was a bit smaller than he was when standing and then turned back to Ranjit. "Bom." The father wasn't quite sure if it was a way of saying Beom or the new name, but the second suggestion was much more of his liking.

Easter Egg Hunt I

Lenachan358

Finally Andraste and Ranjit had managed to park their car quite close to the egg hunting area and were making their way towards the crowd.

"Looks like quite a nice party." Ranjit mumbled and smiled at his small family consisting of their oldest son Jacosa, Otieno who was walking at his right hand and Nila, who was on her mother's arms.

Jacosa's eyes were glittering of joy as he saw the other children. "HELLO" He called out and moved towards the small group.

The parents followed with the smaller ones.

Andraste offered Jacosa the small easter basket they had brought and the otter wondered why nobody was answering his call. But of course ! They were all busy hunting the eggs.

With a grin he accepted the basket and moved towards a small bush to look for an egg. What where the others doing ? His attention wasn't able to rest on the bush for long.

Andraste and Ranjit moved with Otieno and Nila towards the other parents.

Nah, there didn't seem to be an egg anyway. Jacosa was distracted by a girl standing in a pond screaming for an egg. Quickly the otter moved over and wondered if there was another one inside.

"Woah, you found one." Quickly he peered into the water to see if another one was there.

Indeed ! There was a something that looked like a stone, but was a bit too white for just a stone. It probably was an egg. "That's a good egg place. Jacosa announced before jumping right into the small pond. His trousers became awfully wet, but he managed to grab the tiny egg. Woah, it was so pretty.

"MOMMY, LOOK ! Waving with the egg the otter jumped around and splashed happily.

Andraste came closer with Nila and smiled. "Awesome, Jac." The baby made grabby hands for the tiny object.

Jacosa was already looking out for others again.

Jacosa stomped of after giving the small egg to his mother. The woman followed with Nila on her arm. The baby was wiggling and babbling happily as they followed the big fuzzy brother. He seemed to have found a strange hole in the ground close to a tree.

"I BET there's one in there !" The otter squealed and kneeled down to take a look.

Jacosa pouted as he found nothing but earth and sighed. "The others are so..skilled, Mommey." Andraste patted the boy's head and smiled. "You already found one. Don't you want to open it ?"

The otter blinked. He was able to open it ? He nodded excitedly and Andraste put Nila to the ground before she offered the egg the Jac. The otter opened it and squealed. There was paper inside !

"A certificate !" Andraste smiled and helped Jacosa to read it properly.

Nila in between had crawled towards an area with high grass. Was there something everyone was looking for ?

"It's for a pet." Andraste smiled at Jacosa and the otter squealed happily. "Cool ! Can we go and look for more eggs ? I bet there's one over there behind the stone. The otter moved up as the mother was startled.

"Where's Nila ?"

Nila was happily crawling through the grass and stopped in front of a small stone. What was that ?

"Niiiilaaa ?" Jacosa called out and stumbled through the grass. Andraste followed and looked through the waves of green.
Where had the baby gone ?

"Nila !" The mother called out quite worried.

Nila instead patted the small stone in front of her and started to move it aside. It was a bit heavy, but after a while she managed to push it aside. More interesting stuff awaited her in front !

"RANJIT ! THE BABY IS GONE !" Andraste called out and caused the whole family to move through the high grass to find the little blue girl, who was enjoying herself in the meantime.

Lots of voices could be heard, but it seemed like a strange melody to Nila. This was a very funny holiday. The girl giggled and continued her journey through the grass. What was that red thing ? A flower ?

Cerena
"Pirate bunnies working with... ninja fairies, maybe?" Lethe suggested, accepting her egg and peering closely at it. Well, it matched her outfit -- at least she was lucky like that. Slipping it into her pocket, she easily fell for Keith's trick and held a hand against her forehead to cast shade over her eyes as she peered into the direction he indicated.

"...A table?" She clarified, looking more closely for eggs -- just in case -- sideglancing towards Keith with a raised eyebrow. "You feeling alright?" She was about to say something more, but a nearby shriek saying something about a baby being gone distracted her. "...Hnn.. Maybe I can give her my babies..."

But before waiting for a reply, Lethe already moved off to address the woman she assumed was the mother. "Excuse me.. madame? I heard about your baby... What does she look like? Maybe we can help?" Hey, if they were so good at finding eggs... babies should be no problem, right?

Lenachan358
Nila giggled and patted the shiney egg she had found. Wasn't that something all the others enjoyed ?

Ranjit moved through the grass with Otieno as the boy suddenly pointed at something. "Neela." He mumbled and the man looked right into the direction.

"There she is !" Moving towards the baby he picked her up and she had almost dropped the egg.

Jacosa followed quickly. "Woah ! She's SO good. She found one !"

Andraste quickly moved towards them but only spotted another blue thing inside the grass.

As she was addressed by a girl Andraste just smiled. "Oh hello, she's blue and small with red hair. Thanks, you're a nice girl."

"Woah that went fast." Andraste smiled at the girl and waved at Ranjit and the boys who moved over to them. Nila was clinging to the egg, while Otieno was insisting on picking flowers and bugs. As he tried to eat one of them Ranjit quickly tried to pick him up.

But the boy didn't want to get away from the place he was staring at. There was something !

"ECK !" Otieno demanded and pointed at something colorful on the ground. Ranjit kneeled down to look at it.

Ranjit laughed. "No, that's just a bug, Oti." The boy huffed as he wanted to pick it up, but was lifted into the air by his father.

Andraste grinned and shook her head as she stroked through Nila's hair. The baby girl was still smiling at the little egg she was holding.

"Oti is right, he still needs one." Jacosa demanded and finally moved over to a tree to looks at it's crown. Everybody was looking at branches, perhaps there were some eggs left ?
