"To hell with it is right. Sounds to me like you've found something better anyway." The girl started to stand, stopping partway up to offer a hand to the other woman. "And in deciding that, you gain a little more strength than you had before." Aila's smile was surprisingly genuine. Perhaps, she wondered, she had gained a little more strength too.

Lilith's own smile was very genuine. "I am grateful to you. You are free to refuse, but might I inquire as to your name?" While it was risky to give and receive names now that she was in Team Rocket, Lilith felt it necessary to completely thank the young girl who had liberated her from herself.

"Aila," she replied, amending her introduction with an afterthought, "Aila Christelle de Valois." It was rare that she felt so inspired to divulge her complete identity, but she somehow felt so trusting as to do so now.

Her smile - and her whole countenance - brightened as she regarded the young girl Aila and held out her hand. "It is a deep pleasure, Aila. My name is Lilith Thornton." She felt it only appropriate to give her full name as well, since Aila had given hers.

"The pleasure is mine," a small hand reached out to accept the handshake, it's clasp warm despite the cold. Another kick of the wind, however, brought Aila's attention back to the temperature. "Perhaps it would be best to head inside..."

She nodded to Aila and turned towards the direction of the HQ. It's dark color was somewhat difficult to ascertain from the inky black around it, but a few dim lights about it confirmed its verity. She started walking towards it, then stopped and turned to Aila.

"You know... You really dance quite exquisitely. How long have you been practicing it? I am merely curious about it, but... I think you have a real talent for it."

Aila flushed slightly at the sudden compliment, tucking her chin in slightly in a subtle show of modesty. "Thank you... I've practiced for... ah..." She began counting off on her fingers, switching to a mental tally halfway. "I'm not sure exactly. Since I was very young. I-I'm not sure if you could call it 'talent,' though... I only perform recreationally, after all..." She hadn't even practiced very seriously since her mother passed away, having no instructor to correct her missteps. She could not help, however, but swell ever so slightly with the encouraging appraisal.

The girl was young, but surprisingly mature - almost grave - and the way she blushed at Lilith's compliment was... really cute. Lilith felt odd thinking that, but she pushed that aside and focused her attention on her young companion.

"But you're so wonderful at it! Maybe you should consider pursuing it..." Lilith stopped and rethought her words. She chuckled and grimaced. "Of course, that would probably quite difficult to do, what with our particular occupation and all..." While Lilith had no solid confirmation that Aila was a Rocket like herself, the fact that the girl's uniform was similar to her own and that they were walking in the same direction hinted rather strongly towards that reasoning.

That was an idea, wasn't it? Aila had been considering, albeit passingly, what she would pursue when she had accomplished her objective. It might be challenging to hold her position with Rocket and rehearse and perform at the same time, but what fun was a journey if its destination was easy to reach?

"I wonder if that would be possible..." Her thoughts took her voice, becoming audible on her breath. Well, but that would be counting her Torchic before they hatched, wouldn't it? A smile, though subdued, emerged on her lips. "I should probably focus more on my job for now... though I wouldn't mind practicing a bit more frequently."

"That sounds wonderful! And if you wouldn't mind... I would like to watch a performance of yours sometime, if you would be willing to let me watch, that is." Lilith clasped her hands behind her back as she walked. A quick glance in the direction that the two were heading showed that the HQ was steadily approaching on the horizon.

...It seemed that the two would soon part ways for the time being. That was a depressing thought for Lilith.

"You'd be welcome to watch... if you wished to. I'd certainly appreciate the company." Appreciate the company? What was she saying so impulsively? Wasn't this the same Aila who had gone out of her way to avoid contact with others for what seemed like the entirety of her life? She could only marvel at the overwhelming power of environment to change a person so quickly and so completely. From what she had gathered from their conversation, this Lilith was an individual who had similarly felt that power.

"I'd appreciate your company any time, really," was her earnest amendment as the approached the headquarters building.

"All right then. Be sure to tell me when you'll be practicing so I can come and watch you. Heck, I might even learn something." This was more hopeful thinking on Lilith's part. She could not forget how awfully she had danced when she went on her date with Sorano. She had completely embarrassed herself. While it would be odd learning from a child, it would be better than nothing, right?

Finally, they were nearly at the HQ. Lilith could have reached the door in seconds if she ran. Instead, though, she walked, and she looked at Aila in surprise. "T-truly? I'm... pleased, honestly." Lilith grinned.

Score one for the home team: I made a friend tonight!

Aila nodded, the smile remaining in its place. She wasn't horribly confident in her abilities as a teacher, but if this woman was willing to learn, she was certainly willing to try and impart what she could.

She met Lilith's enthusiasm with her own, turning to her with bright eyes. "I guess I'll see you around then?" There was something vaguely exciting about it all, though couldn't place just what it was or why it evoked such a sensation. She could only marvel at the fact that she was actually looking forward to seeing the woman again in the future.

Here was where they would part ways for the time being. Even so, their parting would give Lilith something to look forward to. She was happy to have her heart liberated.

Lilith turned towards the direction in which she would have to go to return to her dorm room, then paused and looked back at Aila. An honest smile painted her lips. "See you later, Aila!" With that, Lilith started on her walk back to her room, feeling lighter than she had in a long time.

Aila replied with a sincere smile of her own. "Yes. See you later." Her gaze lingered momentarily on Lilith's departing form before she proceeded towards her own destination, a strange yet distinctly content feeling settling within her. 'Friend' was the only word that came to mind to describe the sensation, and for the first time, she truly began to understand its meaning.
