Aleric shook his head. "Perhaps it might be better not to know in this case." He said hesitantly. "If I use it, knowing that it was once used to manipulate others, I might be tempted--" He stopped. "Or someone else might be tempted, to use it in ways that aren't proper again." He tried to make it sound logical, regardless that it was an instinctive decision.
"But if I start out with the belief that it can only be used to help, like I have right now, then I won't think of other uses for it." It was his nature, more or less. To think of the good in things and people. He even saw Silva like that.
"Then it's a good thing I didn't die." Silva said, looking at the spot she had hit and trying not to laugh. "You aren't very good at that." He added.

Averno scowled at Silva. "No, I'm not, which made it that much more idiotic of me to go after you. I was attacked by an owl, and then by some seriously ticked off bats. If Arae wasn't with me and couldn't manipulate winds, I'd be dead. Then how would you have felt?" She asked poutily.
Arae rubbed her chin. "Yes, but if it might be harmful even if used for the intent of good, isn't it better to know that, Aleric? What if it does some unknown harm to the person who uses it?"

"I'm sure it won't." Aleric said, finally looking at her. "I'm sure that whoever created it wanted it to be used to help. It hasn't affected me adversely. But why don't you tell me of your quest? You seem to have gone through a lot on your trip." He reached for her hand again.
"It would have pissed me off that you didn't trust me to take care of myself." Silva said bluntly. "I've been doing this kind of stuff a lot longer than you have. And at your level of strength you very well could have gotten killed." His head was starting to throb again.

Arae slipped her hand into Aleric's, but she looked concerned. "Or it could have been secreted away for so long to prevent it from being used, my love. We have know way of knowing. But I am glad you're all right. I missed you terribly." She pushed a lock of lime green hair behind her ear. "Our quest was...unpleasant at best, deadly at worst. We nearly died several times. And we could have easily fallen into the trap that killed whatever feien these gems used to be."
Averno snorted. "You're not invincible, Silva. And I thought I had a right to worry about you. As for my strength getting me killed, then why don't you do something about it and help me build up my strength? Because if you DO get yourself killed on one of these idiotic adventures of yours, I'm going to need to protect myself. Especially if that creep that attacked me way back when in the tavern ever hunts me down again."

"I doubt he's still alive." Silva said bluntly. "Guys like that don't last very long. But fine. I'll bulk you up." He smirked. "For a price."
"My love, I'm so sorry that you went through all that." Aleric said, looking shocked by her confession. "I wish that I could have been there to help."

Arae grimaced and she moved to embrace Aleric. "There was an owl that wanted to make us a meal, and bats, so many bats. It was terrifying. But we prevailed, and I learned I'm more capable than I thought of defending others. And Averno truly cares about me, and about Silva." She looked over her shoulder at her sibling and the shadow feien. "I hope he doesn't make her regret her feelings, Aleric."
Averno arched a brow. "What price would that be, Captain Happy?" She settled the gemstone in her lap, leaning over it a bit. Her weariness was apparent, this trip had taken a great deal out of her. But she was surprised at her own courage to make the journey, and that which she exhibited in crisis situations. She wasn't the fragile thing she'd always seen herself as.

"Mmm... It's too early for me to come up with something just yet." Silva replied. "But when I do I'm sure I'll enjoy it." He yawned, then stretched his arms over his head and got to his feet. "But hell, let's get you home. You look like you had a run in with a rabid cat. And your hair is messed up."
Aleric hugged her back, closing his eyes slightly as he took in the fact that she didn't trust the flute, either... Maybe Silva was right...

Arae hugged him close, comforted by the feeling of his arms around her. "I am so glad to be home," she murmured softly.
Averno nodded to Silva and she rose, stretching her wings tentatively, then relaxing when she could see the pain was gone. "Thanks for the healing. Arae was pretty tapped out." She tied the bundle back to the stick and hefted it onto her shoulder. "Do me a favor and don't let Sajhiri know how rough of a time we had. She's up to her eyeballs in stuff, I don't want her fussing over me."

"Won't say a word." Silva said before reaching for her. "Find something you can use for weights tomorrow. I'll be by sooner or later."
"I'm glad you're home as well, my love." Aleric whispered, feeling just a hint of guilt, as if he had betrayed her. But that was ridiculous... right?

Averno nodded wearily before she leaned in and pressed her lips to Silva's. "Thanks for coming here to make sure I was ok. It's nice to know you did think of me once in a while." She grinned mischeviously.
Arae murmured "Lets go home, Aleric. I need a hot bath and a warm bed and a good 2 days of sleep."

Silva took to the air after the brief kiss and looked at her. "Think you can fly? Or will I have to carry you?" He asked, only half teasing.
"Of course, my love." Aleric said as he took to the air as well. "If you need help flying, I'm here for you."

Averno grimaced. "Though I hate to admit it, either you carry me or I call Sajhiri to send Caelestis or Maleficent to carry me home. I don't think I can make it."
Arae smiled warmly. "I can think of no one I'd rather lean on or would trust more to never let me fall."

Silva nodded, moving closer to slip one arm under her legs and the other behind her back. She was tall, but he was taller, so it worked well enough. "I picked up a little more speed while we were on our quest." He mentioned idly. "I'm almost as fast as Soho."
Aleric wrapped one arm around Arae's waist, giving her as much support as she wanted. "Then let's go home." He said softly.

Arae happily followed Aleric's lead, though at the edges of her mind, the purpose of the flute irritated her. She would have to think on it again later, after she could rest.
Averno wrapped her arms around Silva's neck, idly touching an ear tip with a faint smile. She then nestled against him and was soundly asleep before he even got her out of the airport.
