i wasn't qualifying them as emo or anything, sorry if that was unclear.

if nothing past 1990 is emo, then what is stuff like Coheed & Cambria or Yellowcard? even that qualifies as pop-punk/pop-rock?

Hollaback Girl is bad and yet...way too catchy. i was out of the country at the time it became popular, and being the token american in the group, i got a lot of "so what IS a 'hollaback girl,' anyway?"

Would you describe either of them as emo?
AT ALL.

Especially yellowcard.
THEY ARE PUNK POP POSERS, LIKE SIMPLE PLAN AND GOOD CHARLETTE.

Damnit I hate Good Charlette...I'm going to get a ticket to one of their shows and assasinate them one of these days...
CHARLOTTE. With an 'O'.

If you like My Chemical Romance, I do not like you. The only song I like by them is "Helena"- it's one of those songs that just get, like, ground into your head until you just can't stand it anymore and you give in to it. Like "Hollaback Girl" redface .

The song "Nasty Girl" makes me want to kill every single one of the people who are even remotely involved with it. Really, rap makes me angry, it's just disgusting.

Anything Linkin Park related makes me want to kill small animals. mad I hate them. ********. Hate isn't even an intense enough word. More like ********. More than that. Nyaaar.
Also, Simple Plan can get ran over.

All types of Hiphop and Rap make me angry. They suck. Gwen was annoying even when she was into rock. She's worse now. Anything to do with Black Eyed Peas... like that humps song..., 50 Cent, Eminem, Lil John, ********, Paul Wall epecially.... Can all go commit mass suicide.
The world would be a better place.
I hated her song Harajuku Girls. I only know basic japanese and I KNOW she pronounced most of it wrong! Damn her!
Sorry. I was wrong.

I like MCR's old stuff.

Some rap is okay. I do rather like Tech N9ne and Dilated Peoples, and the few Kottonmouth Kings songs that I've heard. Dilated Peoples is especially political:

Quote:
Glory, the pen is mighter than the sword
Cause the pen gives the word sending swords to war
They twisted it when he pulled Mao Tse-tung
They said political power comes from the barrel of a gun
The officer meets his fate, .44 by .38
It was a dirty deed, but that don't mean a dirty case
Witnesses against the state are shushed
Facts overlooked so the judge can throw the book
Perhaps for politicians with something to prove
In the city where they blew the roof off and move

And old school 80s rap is just hilarious. Oh. Em. Gee.

But gangsta rap about bitches and hos and bustin' caps? Ugh.

Apologies for the "emo" mislabeling. Forgive me?

also, "Heart of Gold." I do not like it, Sam-I-Am.

Thanks for the spelling tip...I don't like MCR either...Rap I can stand and even listen to some songs frequently, but if it's all "Smoke weed, Kill people, and F*ck b*tches" then I can't stand it...

Neither HIM nor MCR are emo.
Welcome to pop-rock.
Any other band you think is emo.
Is pop-rock or pop-punk.

There has not been a single emo band past the 1990's.

But anyway.

I cannot stand that song My humps. And I can't stand Hollaback girl.

Kai my chemical romance is emo

You don't know what emo is.

I suggest you read this for a basic overview of what emo is, before you say pop rock bands like MCR are emo.

I'm sorry kai but that really didn't help me out at all, all I read in that huge first post was a bunch of post modern writing about how some 300 year old band, started emo music when he started to sing about his feelings and blah blah blah. Emo is genre of music where a singer/band talk heavily about their feelings and how there life sucks or what not and usually sings in a very high pitched voice. And if you think they aren't emo then that's fine but you can't deny the fact that they do dress very emo.

That's scene music, aka pop rock. POP=popular.

Emo stands for emotive hardcore.
Not emotional.
You have no idea what you are talking about.

Emo does not stand for emotive hardcore emo stands for emotional meaning when people like MCR sing about how sad and lonely they are, or how emotional they are getting over something.

Yes, the music is emotional sometimes, but that's not what it stands for.
I know way mroe about the topic of emo music then you do.
Obviously.
Emo=emotive hardcore.
Scene/pop-rock/faux(false) emo (has it is sometimes called)=Emotional and sometimes (or most of the time whiny).

Stereotypes aren't good.
Especially when you put them on music.
And stop listening to what MTV tells you, and what labels tell you, they know nothing.
