He gave a hearty laugh to her enthusiasm. He was glad to see the pale mare lighten in her mood, he didn't like when others were down with themselves. He didn't want to trouble the mare with the fact that there was no way of knowing which way her family had gone...or the reality that the two would probably not find them any time soon.
"Yes, yes. Off we go!" he almost chirped, throwing his head toward the northern trees. "Let's get started, we have quite the trip ahead of us!" He hoped for the mare's sake that they would find her family. He hoped that they had just not realized that she was not behind them... Not that they had intentionally abandoned her. She seemed too fragile to be in this world alone.

Why, this could be an adventure--one that would make her adopted brothers and sisters extremely jealous once they found out! Yes, she and her newly (secretly) appointed knight would fight off Kalonas and maybe even a Skinwalker until all was right again in the world, and that would put a happy end to this truly trying tale.
After he had gestured, she did her best to keep pace with him. Thankfully, all those days of walking around by herself had built up her endurance some, so she wouldn't be nearly as tired as she usually was. "How many Cerynei are there, Rallie? I've never even heard of them before until I met you... Do you have a family?" It was bold--perhaps too bold, but Evangeline couldn't help but wonder. "Surely you haven't been alone in these forests, too..." How awful!

He waited for the pale mare to catch up, their current path was wide enough that they could walk side by side. "There are as many of us cerynei as there are your kind. My brothers and sisters choose to stay hidden most of the time." he looked over to her with a smile, "We are a curious sort sometimes," he laughed.
"Aye, I do have family. They live in a herd close to the mountain base. I have chosen another path in life..." he turned looking back down the path. He wasn't sure why he had been driven to find another aspect of life. His family had been happy in their small herd, hiding away from dangers. Rallie always felt like there was more for him outside of that life, one day he would find out what it was he was missing.
"I travel alone, most of the time," he nodded. "Not many like to travel aimlessly..and I... I have no real place that I belong."
