Midori mind was working furiously trying to figure out a way to escape from Rai's grasp before they crash landed. He might have the endurance to tank a blow like that but with the added gravity it would be a virtually garenty of a knock out for a more fragile person like herself.

The mechanics of the gravity seal where deceptively simple. Increase gravity by 2 to 3 times and a normal human could still move around and do things, it would just take a lot more energy then normal tiring them out quicker. Increase it by just a little bit more and they would then be pinned to the floor, unable to move. A seal wasn't as powerful as some of the gravity jutsu she had seen other ninja throw around but when it came to incapacitation of a normal target it got the job done.

The problem was adjusting it for ninja since ninja could do things normal humans can't. Midori couldn't tune it too high out of fear of actually hurting Rai when her objective was to capture him. At it's current setting their were many ways he could fight back against it, but she had been hoping it would be enough to slow him down.

As for her, she was deceptively strong for her small build thanks to her bloodline. This strength would enable her to still move, but only with great difficulty, enough that would not be able to enact a proper counter seal in time.

But them something strange happened as Rai let out a burst of Forsaken chakra. Most of the burst when into Midori's body, but enough of it leaked out to weaken the effects of the gravity seal temporarily and Midori found that she could move properly again. But that did not cancel out the momentum they had gained and if she didn't do something quick then it was all over.

"That TICKLES!" she laughed with an edge of madness in her voice. But her words where far from the truth. Due to her nature, her body had been built to take on large amounts of what was sometimes refereed to as void or death chakra, energy gained from when living beings died. Energy from beyond the grave.

The Forsaken chakra was similar in many ways to that energy. But much less pure and refined, similar in away to a demon host drawing chakra from a non tamed beast. She could resist it to an extent but that did not mean that it wasn't effecting her.

Luckily for her however, Rai had wrapped his arms around her upper body which meant that he had her pinned mainly by virtue of holding onto her chest armor rather then her actual body directly, Her armor which was designed for her to be able to slip out of quickly just like she had against Drake and Chaos so long ago.

In the blink of an eye she was gone, leaving her armor behind as she preformed a quick body flicker to escape. But because of the effects of the Forsaken chakra on her body she did not preform the jutsu to her usual flawless standards, and a moment later reappeared as she hit the ground a few feet away with a loud thud and rolled before quickly stumbling to her feet, her body shaky and drenched in sweat as she breathed heavily. The landing had still hurt but far much less then if she had actually crashed with Rai.

With her torso armor gone, her black tight fitting undershirt and tights were revealed. A simple but effective outfit well suited for moving in martial arts but offering little protection. She still had her arm and knee guards, but the bulk of the extra weight was gone meaning she would be able to move a bit faster then before.

When she body flickered away she had been forced to activate the quick release on her Jouhyou as well leaving it wrapped around Rai, but the binding seal on the rope would be weakened by the forsaken chakra as well making it child's play for Rai to untangle himself.

Looking down at her hands she found that her right hand was still in the same seal position she had left it when Rai had hugged her. Grinning wickedly she preformed the last handseal. "Sealing art: Genbu Black Tortoise of the North." She cried out as the last corner stone of the Five cardinal directions grand element seal was put into place.

Ooc: To keep it from being god moddy the seal only makes it more difficult to use elemental jutsu, not stopping them entierly (Incidentally this is also the reason it took several posts to get out since otherwise it would be over powered.)

Using a elemental jutus like say a low level c-rank fireball would take more effort and control then usual comparable to casting a much higher level A rank jutsu.

It's still do able but it would drain stamina a lot quicker. The more complex the jutsu the harder it would be to counter the effects of the seal and launch it, making advanced elements like Ice, Light ect risky as they are formed by combining two elements at once making them twice as draining.

Of course being a field effect seal, It's a massive double edged sword since my character is as much effected by as anyone else inside the boundaries. That said the seal is specific to elemental jutsu so it wouldn't effect normal plain chakra at all. It's still your turn by the way, but if you don't mind I'm going to inject a comment to give you something to play off of.

Midori felt the ground rumble from the impact as Rai fell and shivered slightly. She couldn't see him through the smoke but somehow her intuition told her he was just find. After all he had fallen from the tower pretty much unharmed so logically he should be able to take a comparable fall just fine.

"...You're so strong. It makes me feel happy....I don't know why. This is a strange feeling..." Midori told Rai, her body trembling but wither it was from fear or excitement was impossible to say.

Midori watched the inital bursts of magma begin to flow and grinned wearily. It had really been inevitable that it would come to this really. Rai was infamous for his lava jutsu after all and luckily she had been ready for this all along.

With a touch of a finger to the collar of her shirt the colour of her clothing shifted from black to a bright red that blended in well with the color of hot molten rock. The seal she had activated wasn't just camouflage but also designed to help her withstand high height at the cost of sacrificing the rest of it's defensive properties. Now the cloth strong enough to normally resist a direct sword strike and not sever could be cut by something as ordinary as a pair of scissors.

She couldn't risk this earlier with out drastically reducing the structural integrity of her chest armor, but now that she wasn't wearing it anyhow it hardly seemed to matter.

But she wasn't too worried. Other then the initial eruption Lava tended to flow at speeds the even a normal human could easily escape from. She had plenty of time left before she had to move and it wasn't like she had to worry about running out of ground to run on when she could fly.

Besides with her seal up Rai had to be burning a considerable amount of chakra just to preform the move since magma was formed by a combination of both fire and earth elements just as she had been hoping he would.

It was just another point on her multitude plan to take him down with non lethal force. If she couldn't immobilize him she'd exhaust him, and if she couldn't do that she had other options. In general keeping things non lethal was more troublesome but it also solved the problems of escalation that would result if they both kept on tossing out progressively deadlier and deadlier jutsu.

Noting that Rai had foolishly not discarded the armor she had left behind she decided to take advantage of the situation in order to counter attack. As a high level seal user it was a matter of course that almost all of her tools contained defensive measures to prevent tampering or theft. Measures that where a simple matter for her to activate remotely.

With a single hand seal she activated one of a series of seals carved into the inner workings of the armor releasing a large quantity of her most potent sleeping gas. Colorless and odorless the only immediate indications of its use would be the dim glow of the seals as they came alive. But what really made this gas nefarious wasn't that it was hard to detect but the fact that it was just as effective if absorbed percutaneously thought the skin as if it was breathed in through the lungs.

Midori was mildly suprised how effective even a brief exposure to the knockout gas had on Rai. You could never tell how well poisons and other gases would work on some high level ninja so it had been a bit of a gamble, and one that seemed to have paid off making her next course of action obvious. If only a small exposure had worked that well then prehaps a larger dose would finish the job. Even if it wore off faster then usual if she could just get him down for a 10 count then it would count as a win ending the match.

Watching Rai stumble his way towards the bell she pulled her hands into her sleves then drew them out now holding onto 4 kunai with one hand and a Bola in the other. These where not ordinary versions of those weapons however as the blade of the kunai was covered in runes and had fist sized balls attached by a thin rope to the circular end of the handle. Similarly the rope of the Bola had binding seals woven into the steel like cord and gravity seals attached to the weights.

With a practiced flick of her wrist she threw the bola aimed at Rai's lower legs in an attempt to entangle them and trip him and with any luck reinforce the gravity seal that she had placed earlier, It had been weakened temporarily by the bust of Forsaken chakra Rai had let off but not dispelled.

A split second later she threw the kunai, aimed not directly at Rai himself but so that they would hit a square like pattern around him in order to release the loads of sleeping gas that where contained inside the attached capsules. But like usual for her she was also aiming for a secondary effect as well and had placed the kunai in a pattern that would allow the runes on them to erect a low level barrier to keep the gas trapped inside and concentrated rather then disbursing. It was a simple seal, and wouldn't hold for long, but it wouldn't have to if she played her cards right.

Precision and Duplicity, those where her calling cards. Her chances of beating Rai in a straight flight where slim, but then she never fought straight in the first place. Even if others said it was impossible she would find a way to both win and keep her word not to harm Rai.

ooc: Just a note, but thermals would actually make it easier for Midori to fly not harder.

Midori cursed softly under her breath as Rai stumbled out of the way of her Bola and the projected course of her kunai. She'd really only had one shot at that and luck just hasn't been with her. She was after all a killer and while naturally she kept some supply of non lethal tools on hand in case she had need of them for a mission she had pretty much used her entire supply of sleeping gas up.

"I doubt I'll be able to lure Rai to the bubble. He's too smart to easily fall for such tricks." She thought to herself knowing that the barrier she had placed would keep the gas around for at least an hour or so as long as it remained undisturbed.

Still contemplating her next move her eyes widened in surprise as she watched Rai picked up the bell. Considering the size and the fact it was made of solid metal, that thing had to weight at least a couple of tons. "Interesting, I had no idea he was that strong physically... I guess I'll have to step up my game she thought to herself."

As Rai began to spin she began to form hand seals, totally devoid of fear since Rai's next move was far too telegraphed. There was no way in hell that Bell was going to hit her on it's own, so if it was her she would have added something to the mix like explosives or an electrical charge and even then it was likely just a distraction. Something to divert her attention and keep her busy for a short while.

Either that or he was trying to disrupt or weaken her Five cardinal directions grand element seal by destroying one of the cornerstones. It would have worked too if he had done it before the the full jutsu was in effect, but once completed seals of that caliber where not disrupted so easily, otherwise nobody would bother using them.

Since putting him to sleep wasn't an intimidate option and immobilization to dangerous to attempt again until he wore himself out a little more she was going to switch gears and work on limiting his offensive potential.

Finishing the seals she pulled out a shiken style shuriken and used it to cut the palm of her right hand thought her glove, so that dark purple droplets where able to seep thought just before the bell seemed to slam into her only for her form to vanish in a burst of smoke revealing that she had used the body replacement technique to switch places with her fallen armor at the last second.

Hoping Rai would still be off balance from throwing such a large and heavy object she surged forward like a bolt of lightning attempting to grasp his right wrist and smear it with her blood in perpetration for a larger move that was yet to come.

Midori cursed as Rai actually seemed to fall over from the spinning he had been doing and then apparently decided that discretion was the better part of valor and rapidly began to sink into the ground. If she had less distance to cover she might have been able to catch him still, but judging by his rate of descent vs her own speed she realized she'd miss him by a hair even as she began to converge on the spot.

But she had not failed to notice the visible energy that had started to surrounded Ra's right arm just before he vanished. Any chakra that was potent enough to be seen by the naked eye with out needing any enhancements was potent stuff indeed.

She wasn't sure exactly what he was going to launch, but she had already jumped in an attempt to move away even as a beam of energy began to erupt from the ground moving at startling speeds. But just as it seemed like she was going to be engulfed by the torrent of deadly energy something strange happened as it seemed to be sucked into an invisible hole a millimeter below her feet and vanished only to erupt in the distance beyond the edge of the battle field causing massive damage to the landscape.

To the casual observer it must have seemed like magic, but that couldn't be further from the truth as Midori had improvised and modefied the jutsu she had already prepared by adding a couple of additonal handseals in the blink of an eye, generating a time/space barrier jutsu to deflect the chakra canon by literally dumping it in another location.

She'd been saving that particular jutsu for a fight with Chaos but Rai had given her little choice to reveal it since with out her armor on being hit by that laser like attack would have torn her body to shreds. As she landed on the ground from her jump she collapsed to her knees. Quickly lifting her mask slightly with a hand she vomited a small puddle of her toxic blood onto the ground, the price one had to pay for tampering with the very fabric of reality like she had just done.

Reaching out a hand she dipped a finger into the pool of blood and began to draw out characters. "I who seek to avoid dealing Pain, Call upon the binding of heaven's chain" She began to chant as she loaded up a seal that was time delayed so she could save launching it until she finished the incantation, rather then having to use it right away. When Rai emerged next she would be ready for him.

When Rai grapped onto Midori by the ankles and then pulled he might have been surprised to find only her boots in his hands a few seconds later. They where intentionally worn loosely specifically because that spot was one of the most likely places a foe would try to grap onto while she was taking off or in flight.

The second Midori felt her boots pulled off she body flickered away leaving a character half drawn in blood as the anti theft features of her equipment automatically activated itself. She had inserted an explosive tag inside each boot so that if not taken off properly they would go after seconds after being forced off her feet. She doubted the force of the explosion would be enough to actually seriously harm Rai, but if she was lucky it might blow up enough of the earth around him for to become uncovered.

Reapearing on the top of the bell rather then risking standing on the earth where Rai could attempt to grab her by the legs again Midori lived up to her reputation for being a walking arsenal by pulling out a long copper wire and began winding it around the iron bell.
