"All kinds of stories, my dear." M'cel wiggled his fingers at her. "I was, without a doubt, 'that' one child in the list who the elders shuddered to see Impress. But, alas, I love my Weyr too much to leave her to please them." This one seemed to not be like he had been, which was nice for her candidate master. Hopefully soon to be her Weyrling master; hopefully the clutch was large.

"Well, if you're ever in a situation like that, trust your partner. They know the best." M'cel advised her. Even a dunce like his beloved knew what to do.

"Mmm, I've heard quite a bit in favor of those glass houses. I don't know." M'cel frowned. "It sounds nice and all, and it sounds simple. But I can't help but be skeptical. The last time we trusted Aincentcraft in a serious situation, it made Thread even more dangerous." He smiled again, rubbing his head. "Hopefully everything will work out. I can't help but be positive."

Adi enjoyed some mischief, as long as it was just fun and not mean. She'd certainly skipped out on her share of lessons or chores in favor of more exciting things. Technically, she was sort of skipping out on her kitchen chores at the moment, but she was talking to a dragonrider. Who was going to scold her for that? "I'm sure they got over it eventually." The candidate chuckled. "Or didn't they?"

"You don't think they could do something that bad, do you? They sound like they're just little things." Adi rocked back on her heels, thinking. "They could even try it with another plant first if they're worried it wouldn't work, couldn't they?" Or maybe not. Maybe it wasn't practical or something. She liked the idea of Farmcraft and all, but didn't actually know that much about it. And Ancientcraft? She definitely didn't know anything about that.

Likely, someone would come up and yell at M'cel for distracting poor Adi. M'cel was watching a few of the ladies currently, in case one would come over to threaten. He'd learned well from past mistakes: You don't annoy those who made your food. Nothing good came from that. "Oh, I suppose they came around in the end. We havent' killed ourselves yet, after all."

"Honestly? It doesn't sound that bad. Little houses of glass to protect the plants. But I can't help but be weary. What surprises me more is the fact that I've heard even some Northern riders come and be in support of the methods. And here I thought they were all supposed to be more hidebound than us old folk!" There'd been quite a few well-spoken lads from Benden, actually. It'd been rather refreshing!

"I'm sure that helps," Adi agreed, giggling. What a way to measure success! Although it did make a certain sort of sense. Any day you woke up was a good one!

"If they're desperate for Queens, maybe it's snapped them out of it a little." There'd never be a gold dragon for her, but the prospect of losing them altogether was indeed a scary one. If that happened, eventually there'd be no more dragons at all! But the thought was only fleeting; they'd figure it out, and everything would be fine. "Whatever they decide, I'm sure it'll work out in the end."

It had to!

"I've heard it through the grapevine that Benden's last clutch was a rather unimpressive one. Perhaps they're putting pride to the side." M'cel shrugged. Eh! "Well, they do need to bulk up their numbers. I don't want our Southern Dragons flying their skies in the future. Can't stretch ourselves too thin." M'cel was quite good with foresight.

"Hopefully this will be a good clutch." He said, sipping his cooled Klah. "There're many good candidates, though not are all as sweet tempered as you, my dear. I'll be cheering for you while you're on the sands, so don't feel alone." He winked and grinned. She was a rather sweet lass, wasn't she? He couldn't help but feel protective of the young ones.

"If it's not, I guess everyone'll be blaming Benden for it." Adi grinned. She wasn't mean-spirited, but she did prefer her home Weyr...and Benden did have a lot to make up for.

"I can't wait." The girl's eyes lit with excitement at the thought. "I hope it's a big one, and nobody gets hurt." That put a damper on any Hatching, for sure, though so far it had never been her. "Well, if I come away with a dragon this time, I'll have to introduce you." And even if she didn't, there were always more clutches. With her latest golden daughter old enough to Rise, surely Feynath would soon do so again herself?

"Just keep an eye out for how a Hatchling moves. Some are mean tempered from the egg, but most are just clumsy." M'cel said, sounding much like a teacher. "There'll be lots of clutches to follow this one. We've enough golds." Such pride in his Weyr and those that lived within her walls.

"That you'll have to do. Tairoth loves little ones. If you ever want to visit him, you're more than welcome. He welcomes all happy hands." M'cel smiled at the lass. He looked up and caught the eye of one of the kitchen workers. Whoop, she did not look pleased.

"I think I'm wearing out my welcome down here, dear." He laughed. "I don't want to get you in trouble for shirking work, either."

Adi listened with an attentive nod. Optimist she might be, but she'd attended enough hatchings to know to get out of the way of young dragons as fast as possible if they were upset for some reason.

"Really, I could?" The teen's eyes widened at the invitation. Some dragons were, well...touchy about hands-on attention, and not all their riders had the patience for candidates, either. Which seemed silly, since most of them had been candidates, but whatever.

A quick look over her shoulder confirmed that some kitchen workers had limited patience, too, and she sighed. "Well, that's alright. I'll see you soon?"

"Of course. Just call before you touch him. He loves everyone, the little dull glow." M'cel smiled fondly.

"I'm always around, darling, and feel free to stop in and see Tairoth anytime. Thanks for your advice on the food." He grinned, snagging another pastry before he rather quickly departed, lest he catch more ire.
