[I'll be using Hogni. ^^]
It's been a while since he got out of the house, and with a new arrival in the household, he just needed an excuse to wander outside. Even with his new growth, he was still unable to fly. Yuuhi can at least glide, and the other one, despite the fact that she lacked wings, she could at least swim. But Hogni, what could he do but walk? What saddened him most was the beautiful pair of wings on his back weren't of much help to him. They were supposed to give him flight, but instead they're dead weight. What went wrong...
Hanging his head low, his wings covered the top of his head for shade. The desert was much too hot during the day, yet he was determined to at least glide like the serpents do. His blue eyes scanned the area around him for any tall places. Except for roofs, there was nothing. In order to learn, he must at least try. He almost mustered gliding, flying surely couldn't be that much more different, could it?

A small gust of hot wind ruffled the multicolored fur of the grey dustling, his stomach going in and out rythmatically as he slept. His emerald eyes were shut softly, his mouth curved into a smile as he dreamed. Apparently it was a good dream.
As he slowly awoke, one of his eyes opened, blinking at the bright sunlight that shone down on him. He yawned and stretched out his claws, standing and looking around. With a graceful stride he left the shade of the house he slept in, walking along the street to look around.
Alastor spotted the figure of a dark, winged Dustling out of the corner of his eye. He turned to watch the creature for a moment, his mind telling him that he needed to be cautious around new Dustlings. He walked over slowly, his stride smooth and lithe.

((I'm using Silas...he's my new boy I just won in the previous raffle...*Is too lazy to muster up a pic* x.x
Edit: Ahh....what the heck...*Shows Silas off anyways*))

Silas was content, despite his odd situation. While most fled from the scorching heat of the desert, he did not. Why run from something that was all around you? So instead, Silas made due with what he had...sand...and lots of it.
To Silas, it was common knowledge, the deeper under the sand you are, the cooler you'll be...so what did he do? He buried himself in sand of course! His entire body was covered in about 6 inches of sand with his head poking out akwardly. His fur alone seemed to blend into the sands of the desert surrounding him, at least most of it. This dustling would be almost unvisable if it wasn't for the streak of purple spots down the side of his face all the way to the tip of his tail.
This wasn't a cause of concern for him though...why did he have to hide? Surely nothing here meant him any harm. What's the worsest tht could happen? It's not like he'd get ambushed from one of the roof tops or anything. So, while he was slightly warm, which in turn made him quite lazy, he was content. With a sigh that reflected this he set his head down and relaxed, only keeping a glance out occassionly.

[Thanks. ^^ I still think him and the purple femme would make some pretty hawt babies together. xDD;]
The dustling sighed in dismay, the forest was a long walk from the residential homes in the town. Meaning more scorching heat radiating upon his dark body. Though his fur was without a doubt stunningly beautiful, his mostly pitch black body absorbed the heat like a sponge in water. An irritating feeling from under stirred and made him uneasy, it almost felt like he was sweating from the inside out. Nasty.
At the approaching sound of footsteps, the dark dustling pivited his body to face the approaching creature. Another dustling, and a pale one at that. Though he was quite satisfied with his outward appearence, at the moment he would give up almost anything to have white fur. How much cooler that dustling must be...Though he could tell that dustling had no wings either, like most others he's met before. He wouldn't be able to help him with flying, or so he thought.

Alastor saw that the winged dust had spotted him, not that it was hard to. His white fur stuck out in the sandy scenery. He offered a toothy smile to the other one, walking over and stopping a few paces before him. "Greetings." He said, his voice soft and barotone. He eyed the other dustling for a few moments, his emerald eyes scanning the wings on his back. He wondered what it was like to fly, but a voice in the back of his mind told him it wasn't nice to ask.

Slowly opening his beak to speak, he answered in a mellow voice, "Good day." His eyes scanned the creature some more, no wings of any kind, just a regular dustling. Sitting down, his long walk from home already wore him out, and the heat was helping no one. Maybe that's why hardly anyone ever comes out of their homes during the day time. Perhaps the river would be a nice spot, at least there were fish swimming about.
"I'm Hogni, nice to meet you," just where did his manners go? Even if it was hot, that's no excuse to be impolite. He reached his paw out as a gester of friendship, hoping the other would shake his paw too. It would be nice to make a new friend, at least.

Following suit, Alastor sat down. As the winged one, calling himself Hogni, held out his clawed hand Alastor gave his toothy grin and shook his happilly. "My name is Alastor, it's a pleasure to meet you, Hogni." He said, trying the new name out on his tongue. He stored away the information in his mind for further evalutaion at another time. "It's quite hot out today." He said simply.

Silas could hear voices...He blinked. He could see the two dustlings off aways, but couldn't tell what they were saying, only that they weren't talking to him.
He retreated further into the sand, and turned his head so nothing but his eye was visable, not even the purple spots that would so easily give him away.
He remained perfectly still watching them. He didn't know why...he doubted they were a threat....it just seemed like the right hting to do to him.

Shaking the other's paw happily, the day was starting to get better. "Nice to meet you too, Alastor." The name rolled off his tounge well, he kinda liked the name now. Staring up at the sky, he could almost see the heat radiating upon him, any hotter and he could turn into a grill for cooking uses. He nodded in agreement at the other, "It's very hot out. But it's always hot out," he shrugged his shoulders lightly. "Though, I'm sure you are a lot cooler than I am, I'm just absorbing heat like a sponge in water," he laughed lightly to himself. Laughter always makes things seem less worse than they were, even if it was the heat.

Alastor chuckled, releasing the other paw. "Yes, I'm sure you are. Shall we go into the shade?" He asked, motioning towards a building at their left. He stood up again, moving with his graceful stride. He of course didn't realize that there was another Dustling in the sand as he began to wlak towards the building, stepping almost right on Silas.

Shifting his weight to his frontal paws, he got himself up from the ground and started following the other dustling. His dark colored tail waved about him slowly, waving from side to side. As Hogni walked under the shade, he could hardly notice Silas either and almost stepped on the dustling's head. Luckily, he didn't.
The dark dustling sat in the shade for a short while, and already his fur was feeling less hot than before. Alastor was certainly a sharp one, even though without him he would've sat in the shade eventually. But with his appearence, it only encouraged him to do less walking for now.

Silas watched them come closer, a weary look in his visable eye. He managed to remained perfectly still when noth of them came within inches of stepping on him.
He couldn't help but grin slightly at this. As much as he didn't want to get stepped on, it proved that he was well...pretty much invisible where he was. With that proven to himself, he waited til they were a few steps away before his claws shot out of the sand. Grabbing the 'ground' he managed to pull himself gracefully from his hiding spot in the sand. Infact, if it wasn't for the purple spots, one might think he simply came from the sand at that moment instead of the fact he was hiding there.
As he pulled his tail loose he shook slightly, letting the sand that was on his fur to fall free. Unfortunatly he still had much sand buried beneath his fur. He'd have to take a dip in the water to wash off.
With a small sigh he sat where he was and swished his tail around and began brushing the clumps of sand out of it. Silas wasn't vain, as he might appeared to be now, he simply liked to be presentable...and massive clumps of sand in your fur was not presentable.

Alastor watched as Hogni cooled down in the shade, and he smiled. His grin was always toothy and large, making him look rather, well... creepy. But in a good way, sort of. He knew how strange he was, and he loved it. The voices in his head told him what to do and most of the time he listened.
Alastor watched suddenly as another dust sprung from the ground, and he cocked his head to the side. "Wow." He said, trotting over to the sand-dust. "Where'd you come from?" He asked, wondering if the Dust had just blended in well. As he noticed the male taking the clumps of sand from his tail, Alastor came to realize he must've been in the sand. "Ahhhh, so you're a sand dust then." He grinned again.

[It says around 7PM ESTish, so yeah, what Rei said.]
As the other dustling slowly crept out, Hogni jumped a little in suprise. He's never seen a dustling bury him/herself in the sand, he'd try it himself if his fur wasn't so dark. When the sand shook, the arid wind carried small bits of it everywhere, some in his nose, causing him to sneeze. Some other went into his eyes, causing him to blink rapidly. The irritation in his eye caused him to raise a paw, rubbing it slightly.
Hogni eyed the sand-like dustling and questioned, "What were you doing in the sand?" with one brow raised. He just couldn't quite figure out why the dustling would submerge himself into the sand, was it to go unnoticed until he could jump out at the two of them? Or perhaps the reasoning behind it is less cynical.

Silas blinked as the two dustlings that had almost stepped on him came over, and full of questions none the less.
"Nope...." He ran his claw through his tail once more. "Just a regular dust like yourself...I simply buried myself...I just so happen to blend in a bit while doing so." Once his tail was free of clumps, he swished it back behind himself. He blinked again a bit in curiousity as the one he was talking too grinned. 'To each his own...' Silas thought as turned to the darker of the two that came.
Silas visably winced. The poor thing must be cooking from the inside out in this weather. He then noticed the large beautiful wings that sprung from the dustlings back. Why wouldn't he be flying? Sure he'd be closer to sun, but the breeze would make things infintely cooler...that or fly to a cooler place. At this one's question he smiled a bit. "You wouldn't believe how much cooler it is underneath the sand. It's a little trick I picked up awhile ago." He nodded to himself.
"May I be so rude as to ask why you're here though? He can't possibly be comfortable in this weather...." The question was half in curiousity, the half in concern. While normally heat wasn't TOO dangerous...it very well could be. Those of darker colors were more at risk, unlike him and the other light colored dustling.

Alastor grinned again, one of the familiar voices in his head telling him that this Dust was a nice fellow. That voice had an English accent. Alastor nodded to himself, a most unusual gesture since no one had said anything to nod about.
"Really?" He asked, enthusiastic about this new way to cool off. He dug a hole quickly, and buried his head into the sand. "Hey, you're right!" He said, his voice muffled by dirt. "It IS cooler!"

Hogni raised his eyes in suprise at the dustling's question. "Because...I...uh..." His blue eyes suddenly filled with nervousness and sadness at the same time. Taking a deep breath, he faced the sand-colored dustling, "Because I don't know how to fly yet..." his voice trilled off. How embarassing it must be for someone with wings, fully grown too, to say such words. Hogni just didn't understand, he didn't quite grasp the concept that maybe not everyone was natural at flying.
He watched Alastor in amusement, the sand must be cooler...but he just wanted to fly right now. Hogni eyed the forest again, "Hey...how about we go to the forests? It's a lot cooler there," he nodded to himself.

There was a mild look of amusement on Silas' face as the lightly colored dustling decided to try the trick out here and now. A small smile wove it's way onto his beak as he heard the muffled words from below. "I'm not one to lie..." He said with a light chuckle before turning back to the winged one.
"Ah, no big deal then. You'll get in eventually..." He smiled assuringly before turning back his gaze to the sun. "Yes...that sounds like a good idea...I don't feel like being a sand monster all day...." He turned his head back to the two and began walking towards the forests. As he did so he bumped into the dustling with his head in the sand. "You might wanna be careful...sand hurts if you breath it in..." With that friendly warning he started off into the desert towards the woods.

Alastor lifted his head from the sand, shaking it quickly. He flung sand everywhere before trotting after Silas. He motioned to Hogni with a shake of his head to follow as well. "My names Alastor, and this is Hogni." He said, catching up to Silas and matching his pace beside the other dust.

A sheepish smile crept upon Hogni's face. Yes, he would get it eventually. Today might even be the day, he beamed. With just a little more practice he could fully glide, then he can learn to fly. It was no easy task, he knew that much, but he was more determined than before today with those words of encouragement. He was larger now, his wing span longer, it must only get easier from there on.
Waving to Alastor, he followed the sand-colored dustling torward the forests. Though the heat of the dry ground stung slightly, Hogni kept in mind of the nice, cool shade within. That, and the possibility of flight today. The dustling smiled quietly to himself as they traveled, keeping his hopes in mind.

While he didn't turn to them when Alastor introduced the both of them, he nodded. "Tis a pleasure. I'm Silas...." He continued his pace, the heat above and below didn't seem to bother him in the least bit.
His stride was slower then it normally would've been. He had to keep in mind after all that not everyone was as resistant to the element of heat as he was. The last thing he wanted was for someone to tire out in the middle of the desert during their trek. Not only would it be a pain, but Silas was a protective dustling...even though he'd just met these two, it was no different.
Continuing onward, his feet seemed to sink deeper and deeper into the sand as they went. It was only a centimeter at a time, but it was still not normal. The sand only caved like this when sink holes were around...there in lies another problem.
"Tread lightly guys...I think there might be a few sink holes nearby..." Silas kept a close eye on the ground infront of them. While it was hard to see the sink holes themselves, there were tiny little detailed signs that could save them from ending up in one.

Although Alastor was well, crazy, he wasn't stupid by any means. He nodded to Silas, watching his step and keeping an eye on Hogni behind them. Alastors stride slowed, so he could more easily pick out the telltale signs of the sinkholes: slightly different colored sand, small movements of the holes going further down, the indent of the holes themseleves.
As they walked, Alastor felt his foot sink down about six inches into the cool sand. He blinked a few times as his other feet followed in an instant, and he was soon up to his neck in sand. He looked up at the other, "Uh, guys? A little help here?" He asked, staying perfectl still as he began to, very slowly, sink deeper.

Heeding Silas' words, Hogni's strides were each full of caution. His strides also slowed down, as did the two before him. He certainly didn't want to sink into a hole either, as the desert was hot and only lord knows what's lurking below ground. They might never get out, forever trapped in the depths of the mighty desert.
With Alastor's plea, Hogni's pace fastened, though he ran towards his friend, he was careful not to fall in either. As he got closer, he slowly turned around and walked backwards, tail facing Alastor first. "Grab onto my tail, hurry!" His heart raced as he watched the white dustling slowly sink into the ground. Hogni wanted to save him, no matter what.

The moment he heard Alastor asking for help was the same moment he put his foot down. Suddenly the sand swallowed it up. Thankfully his hind legs were still on stable sand and he reared back and sat, sucessfully avoiding what had happened to the other dustling. Once he was safe he instantly spun around.
He carefully made his way over to where Alastor and Hogni were. He blinked at the dustling trapped in the sand for a minute, but was actually checking out the sand around him. He carefully drew closer to the trapped dustling, testing each step before he put his full weight on it. The moment the sand gave way to his foot was where he stopped. Alastor was incredibly lucky...yet unlucky at the same time. The sink hole was small which meant it wouldn't be hard to get him out...but the fact that he'd managed to sink into such a small one was...surprising.
Making sure he was stable where he was, he extended a claw towards Alastor. "Here, see if you can free a claw and grab on..." He wasn't particularly worried, small sink holes normally weren't that deep....normally...

Alastor looked up at Hogni, his emerald eyes showing no sign of worry. The only thing that gave away his fright was his racing heart, and he didn't think his new comrads would hear that.
As the tail and claw were extended to him, he wondered which to take. He finally decided on both of them, and he clasped his mouth, not too tightly, around Hogni's tail. He pulled his foot free with his friends help, and lifted it to clasp Silas' hand. He pulled up with the help of them both, and flopped down onto the sand beside the sinkhole, letting go of them both at the same time.
"Thanks." He said, smiling sheepishly at them both. He stood and shook off, flinging sand around. He knew he had avoided that because of his new friends, and he promised himself that he'd thank them by repaying them soon.
Hogni pulled along with Silas, except he flapped his wings to give him an extra push in order to pull out Alastor. Heaving with all his might, his wings continued to flap for a while, to the point where it almost gave him flight. His eyes shut tightly as he pulled, trying to muster all his strength into pulling out his newly made friend.
When the dustling got lose and pulled himself forward, the winged dustling skipped forward a few steps from the recoil. Turning back to face his friend, he finally gathered a moment to catch his breath. Panting a little, he too smiled at Alastor. Hogni was glad the pale dustling was alright, the desert was certainly unpredictable. "We can take a little break before we move on, if you guys want," he smiled gently.

Thankfully, they never had to find out how deep this sink hole was. With a mighty heave, both him and Hogni had the pale colored dustling out of the hole with little to no problem, or so he thought.
Silas let go of the others claw too soon and in turn was sent stumbling back....right into another sink hole. He landed in a sitting position, and blinked a few times as if he knew what was going to happen. Then, in a flash he was gone, swallowed up completely by the sand. As he was pulled under, the sand around where he once was, in a 2 foot radius seemed to dip down a bit, showing off how big this particular sink hole was.

Sorry for how late my reply is. xD;;
Alastor nodded to Hogni, thinking it was a wonderful idea to take a break. He began to clean his foot, now matted with sand, when he suddenly realized Silas was gone. He glanced around, then saw the Dusts fur poking out of a sink hole beside him, only for an instant as he sunk lower into it.
Alastor moved with cat like grace as he dove into the sink hole, keeping one foot latched to the ground. Before he dove in, he yelled to Hogni, "Grab my foot, and when I shake it, pull us out!" He then dissapeared beneath the sand.
Struggling blindly in the cold sands, Alastor groped around for any sign of SIlas. His foot finally found the dusts neck, and he made his way around to grab his clawed hand. Alastor shook his foot vigourously, letting Hogni know he had Silas.

As the winged dustling tried his best to catch his breath, out of the corner of his ear he heard a somewhat familiar sound. A "whoosh" kind of noise rang by his ears, with a tilt of his head he saw a blurry shadow fall into a hole. It took a short moment, but then he suddenly realized Silas was gone. First it was Alastor, now Silas, the desert was more dangerous than he thought.
Nodding, he quickly rushed to Alastor, grabbing hold of his leg with his paws as best he could. With each movement the pale dustling made, Hogni slowly started sinking in too. In fear of slipping into the hole with his friends, he dug his back claws into the semi-frictionless sand, occationally trying to walk backwards to prevent another accident. Sometimes, he would flap his wings torwards Alastor's general direction to get a better pull.

Strangely enough, Silas didn't panic when the sand suddenly decided to eat him. He winced slightly and closed his eyes to avoid irrating them even more. With the knowledge that he'd fallen bottom first he began clawing upwards, almost as if he was swimming in the sand. Amazingly enough, it seemed to be working just fine until he clocked his head on something firm. It was...furry. He would've blinked had his eyes been open.
'Did someone else fall in too? Either that or one of them jumped in after me....' It was a touching thought. He would've been fine but they still wanted to help. Smiling slightly he felt around until he found the claw of whoever had jumped in and grasped it tightly in his own. Using that as support, he kicked with his hind legs and propelled himself upwards an inch at a time, it really was like swimming...only much more slower since there was nothing definite with the sand.
Eventually he manged to poke his head out of the sand, looking quite strange as he blinked about curiously and shook his head to rid it of the sand. "Well...that was...interesting...? Apparently the sand is quite hungry today..."

Alastor felt Hogni grab hold of his foot, and simutaneously felt Silas grabbing his clawed hand. He pulled the tan dust as hard as he could, and finally when the others head broke the sands surface, Alastor did too. He took a deep breath, coughing and sputtering, getting the sand from his mouth and eyes.
Alastor suddenly laughed loudly, his hole body shaking with the motion. Presently, he pulled Silas free of the sand almost completely, making sure the dustling wouldn't get sucked back in before shaking himself off. "We three make a pretty good team, eh?" He said with another body-shaking chuckle.
"Now, come on. Let's blow this joint." He grinned his crazy grin and began walking (very carefully) towards the forst.

With Alastor's signal, Hogni pulled as hard and fast as he could. His claws dug deeper into the sand, while his wings flapped more rapidly than before. When Silas came swimming out of the sink hole, Hogni fell forward, scraping up some sand into the wind. He coughed a bit when they entered into his lungs, but was very careful not to move a single inch in fear of falling into a sink hole too.
Raising to his paws, he tilted his head for a brief smile and nod at his friends. They were ok, that's all that mattered. But even if they were ok, he was still baking in the sun. His mouth opened for a few pants before he spoke in a hoarse voice, "Everyone ok, I'm guessing?". A few glances back torwards the other two to ensure their safety again. It sure was a close one. He gave another glance before carefully stepping forward and making his way to the forests. It would certainly be much cooler there than in the middle of the desert with no shade.

Silas continued blinking until both of them surprisingly enough yanked him easily from the sand. When everyone let go, he kinda flopped in the sand, laying down, his front legs sprawled out before him akwardly. He took a moment to comprehend what was going on, before shaking his head once again to rid himself of the sand that kept falling in his eyes. He pulled himself up gracefully and nodded his thanks to the other two before traveling a few feet down wind to shake himself off.
Once he was done he couldn't help but noticed the cloud of sand that seemed to be whisked away in the slight breeze. Dang...his fur seemed to almost suck in sand like a sponge.
He tilted his head to the side and smacked the upper part of his head, shaking loose some more sand. He trotted back over to the two other dustlings he reversed his actions and smacked the other side of his head. "Having sand in your ears is not a pleasant feeling...." He shook his head about again. Now he REALLY needed to go for a swim of sorts. "Looks like we're all accounted for...I say we get outta here before this entire area decides to open up at eat us...." With that said he padded off after the two, not wanting to let the others out of his sight.

Alastor nodded to Silas, his head also filled with sand. He continued to shake his head as they travelled closer to the forest, the large trees coming into veiw. Alastor gave one of his crazy grins as his feet finally hit grass, and he looked to his new friends. "Finally!" He said happilly, giving a cheer of rost as he ran into the shade of the trees.
~KiraKaguya~
Stepping into the shade, Hogni opened up a pleasant smile. Underneath the shady trees was a lot more different than baking out in the middle of the golden desert. They both were beautiful, he admitted, but he would not want to stay in the hot air for extended periods of time with his dark fur absorbing such large amounts of heat. With a sigh of contentment, he sat down, staring up at the little bits of light invading through the gaps created by the leaves. There was just something about that sight that made this place so pleasant, aside from it being one of the coolest outdoor spots any creature can go.
His eyes shifted to the trees, they were certainly tall enough for him to at least glide from. Nodding to himself, he walked over to the closest tall tree. His claws dug into the thick bark while he pulled himself up. Staring down, he yelled, "Don't mind me, it'll just be a minute."

Silas hesitated for a split second as the sand gave way to grass. He never traveled from the desert much, and the change of colors was startling at first. With that moment gone he walked onto the the soft grass. While it felt...different...it wasn't in a bad way. Plus, it was also a nice way to cool off without burying yourself.
He smiled a bit at the excitement from the other two before flopping down on the grass, half propped up by the tree he leaned back against. It was strange to go from a world where he could blend in so easily, to one where he stuck out like a sore thumb. He shrugged it off.
When Hogni told them he'd be just a minute, Silas craned his neck back to see what the winged one was doing. Upon seeing him climbing, Silas grinned. "Watch out for that first step, it's a doozy."

Alastor watched as his new winged friend climbed the tree, and he sat at the base of another pine where he could get a good look. "Be careful!" He yelled up, smiling. He wondered if his friend would hurt himself, since he had spoken of not being able to fly very well. Alastor didn't think it was weird that Hogni couldn't fly, but he hoped his friend wouldn't hurt himself in his attempt.
As Hogni climbed the tree, Alastor began to clean his sand filled fur, and he motioned for Silas to sit beside him. "The desert sure is unprdictable." He said, smiling.

[Alright, that makes more sense now. XP;]
The winged dustling stuck his tounge out at the other one for his comment. It didn't matter, today would be the day. Hogni slowly made his way to the outer, thinner branches. Inhaling a deep breath, the dustling expanded his wings outward, pointing them to the sides. He would have to at least glide today, it would certainly be an acomplishment.
With a leap, he was off. Delicately balancing his wings to catch the best wind. He tilted his tail too for easier balance. The wings tilted left and right, sometimes in large proportions, other times in smaller ones. At least he was in the air now, and staying in the air. It felt pretty nice. The gentle breeze gliding through the air, across his face. At first, it was a bit hard on his eyes, but he managed, somehow.

Silas turned his head to Alastor and saw the gesture from him to join the other. Blinking once, he rose from his spot and flopped over next to the other one. What was the point of being graceful around those who'd seen you be eaten by sand? Exactly!
With a swish of his tail he brought it in front of his and began running his claw through it to rid it of the clumps of sand. Sure he was covered in it, but the only thing that bothered him was the fact that his tail was messy. An odd quirk to the calm dustling.
He turned his gaze back to his winged companion in the tree when he heard him take off. He turned back quickly when he snagged his claw on something in his tail and winced. However, the fact that he didn't hear a loud 'thump' was defintely a good sign. Ridding his beloved tail of the tangle he turned back and saw Hogni mid-air. While he wasn't exactly flying, it was a heck of a good start.
He could hide a small grin as he looked up at the dustling still in the air. "What a liar...you said you couldn't fly...." Silas chuckled lightly at the end before turning back to his grooming, now that he was sure his friend was not going to collided with the ground any time soon.

Hogni stuck his tounge out to feel the wind, there was just enough to keep him sustained in the air. But now that he was gliding, at least learning to turn could only bring good things. In fact, because they were in a forest many other tall trees sat in his area. Within eye sight, a tree straight ahead was spotted. If he flew into it...it would end badly.
He tilted his body to the left slightly, his wings and tail following naturally with. It was simply amazing to him how his body adjusted to the curve, but would it be enough to dodge the tree? He hoped so...
Almost holding his breath, he narrowed in on the tree. The tip of his wing barely touching the rough bark on the tree. A sigh of relief escaped his mouth. Tilting his body back, he curved his way torwards the ground. He flapped his wings a few times for a somewhat softer landing. At least he didn't crash into anything, yet.

Alastor watched as Hogni took off, and he grinned up at him. He let out a whooping cheer, laughing. He settled back down into the grass, rubbing his face along it to rid himself of the sand around his eyes. He glanced to Silas as he spoke, and he laughed once more. "I think he just needed a little push." He said with a smile.
As he continued to clean his fur, Alastor realized thier feathered friend was heading straight for a tree. He winced, hoping Hogni wouldn't smash right into it. As the flying dust swerved just in time, Alastor chuckled. "Show off." As he watched the dark dustling float safely to the ground, Alastor ran over to meet and congratulate him.

Hogni flashed a goofy grin at his friend, he'd done well today. He was extremely proud of himself for at least gliding today. Of course, it took many trials for him to get this right, most he learned from when he was just a child. Other times from when he watched birds fly. Even though it took long, the sense of acomplishment was worth the wait. Now his next task was to tackle flying off from the ground, but perhaps he would try another day. All that gliding got his heart racing at the speed of light, and he was quite exhausted right now.
Lying on the cool blades of grass, he rested his head on his paws while his tail curled up against his frame. He stared at his two friends nearby, happy they came along to witness his acomplishment with him. And if it weren't for them, he wouldn't have tried so hard either.

Silas got up with Alastor as he ran over to congratulate the winged one. He paused a moment, giving his tail a flick. There was a whisp-like noise as a fresh wave of sand lashed out from his tail, and this caused him to sigh lightly before trotting over to where to other two were.
He wasn't worried when he saw Hogni nearly fly into the tree. Silas believe that once the winged dustling was in the air, instinct would take over...but if not...then ouch. But luckily there was no ouch involved.
He once again sat when he approached the other two, giving Hogni a slight grin. "See? Now that wasn't so hard was it?" While physical contact wasn't one of his favorite things, he gave the darker dustling a pat on the back. "Keep practicing and you won't have to worry about being eaten by sink holes like us..."

Alastor laughed at Silas's remark, and nodded vigorously. "Yep yep! And maybe someday you could take me for a ride!" He said, and he jumped up and down, circlign the two. One of the many voices in his head told him to stop it and lay down, and he obeyed without hesitation, taking a spot next to Hogni. He still had his sly, crazy grin though. "That was so cool Hogni!" He said, smiling brightly.

He flashed a smile at Silas, "It took a long time before I glided like I did today. Trial and error, I guess they call it." Rolling over onto his back, he stared up at the sky, paws up in the air. One day, someday soon he would touch the sky as he should. And when that day comes, he will be one of the happiest dustlings in a life-time.

Silas had nothing more to say. With a small 'oof' he flopped down on the other side of Hogni, his tail curled up on his free side.
"Well I must say, this has been quite and interesting day so far..." Silas couldn't help but yawn. Normally his days were spent curled up or swimming in the sand. To actually do something half-way constructive was a suprise. One that he didn't mind.
With another yawn he stretched both his front legs forward and layed his head down, jsut to relax and revel in the feeling of the cool grass below.

Hogni's paws reached up for the sky. His moment of glory was still sinking in, though this moment was not to the full extent. Half way was better than nothing. He rolled back onto his tummy, his wings curled around him. It was such a nice place, and even more nice to spend with his two newly made friends.
