Her own vision in the low light of the clock tower was decidedly better than a humans, but it was nowhere near spectacular. Darkness was in her nature, her very being held an affinity for it as was the same for other demons, but in the presence of this light the Priest had dwelling within him, it caused her enhanced vision to become... understated.
Her teeth clenched together as her jaws snapped shut, just missing her mark as Iclair contorted out of the way. As he did so, she felt the air change as he whipped around one of his daggers to cut through the air and managed to just barely tuck her head in so she wasn't stabbed right through the skull. Instead, a few stray hairs of gleaming blue were nipped off by the blade and her dark indigo eyes gleamed with loathing.
The b*****d nearly hit her ribbon.
As he struggled to keep his balance, Kael took those few precious seconds of weakness to whip around and rush forward once more. It seemed her tactics were rather simple -- dodge and charge -- but as she lunged for another attempted bite her tail whipped violently around her, aimed for one of Iclair's legs. Humans were so fragile, if she could capitalize on one weakness then surely she could bring forth others and he could easily be taken down with enough effort and thought.
It was so terribly hard to think on an empty stomach, though, and this man had robbed her of a meal. If she was lacking in any plans, she more than made up for it with spite and anger as her hunger burbled unpleasantly, causing her to growl with more feral might than a rabid dog.

Attention on her teeth, he didn’t see or hear the swing of her tail as it caught against one of his legs and tripped him. He fell, slamming down on the ground roughly, but he wasn’t dazed or prone enough that he couldn’t automatically roll out of the way and pick himself back up in the span of two seconds. He’d have a bruise on his back, but Iclair thought it was better than missing an arm. Iclair hissed softly under his breath at the unexpected move, eyes scanning the darkness to readjust to his new position though staying keenly aware of where Kael would come rushing towards him. The fact that he could not see was starting to irritate him.
Another charge, another snap of teeth...
Iclair inhaled softly, dragging air into his lungs as he struggled not to grow more agitated. The core of light inside of him pulsed again, magic curling around him and leaping out into the air as it spread out from his form. Actual light, halo-like, melded with the metal below, dusting the air and darkness with a warm glow. Of course, warm to him was probably sickening to Kael, but he wanted the light more than ever now—and not just for his sight. He could feel his suppressed dislike, the hate, and among other things, leak out past the façade of all cheer. And that disgusted him more than his light did to Kael.
“Ab insidiis diaboli, libera nos, Lux.” He began, concentrating on a spell instead of his thoughts and letting the magic twist and flail. With some luck, it really would have been her first fight with an exorcist. Perhaps, the unexpected halo of beams of light would surprise her enough to stop. The exorcist dragged it out, almost carelessly scrapping up the magic from his inner core. Iclair remembered the words, knew what each Latin syllable meant. “Ut Ecclesiam---“ And then, the exorcist nearly stopped, tripping over the word-- teeth clicking slightly. The exorcist nearly bit off his tongue. Church.
“--tuam secura tibi facias…” The spell was long, but he didn’t intend to use it to burn her to a crisp. It was light! Iclair could see now—and, so could she, but at least, he welcomed it more than her.
The exorcist bounded after her, gold eyes sharp and remorseless as he lashed out with the same blade while the other stayed prone to defend.

With one success came another failure.
Kael's body landed sharply against the platform where Iclair had been laying just a second before, each taking just another second to collect themselves for another attack. The carnivorous demon lunged violently, missing once more, but this time she retreated amidst the darker sections of the surrounding clockwork. Perched atop a swinging pendulum, she used its momentum to propel herself further up the inner workings of the clock tower.
With each step and increase of height, her grin turned more devious and tooth filled as thoughts of crushing the Priest under her weight from such a high drop danced through her mind. However, such a plan was not to be entertained as he began muttering that disgusting lightspeak once more and she stopped in her movements to utter a snarl of repulse.
Lux.
It was a terrible word and though she didn't know the language the context was quite clear. With the utterance of that one small word, the Priest's magic swelled and the light of the moon was amplified and with each small word, even during his minute fumble, there was more of it appearing in gleaming droves. If it were normal, natural light it would only be a very minor annoyance to the demon but this light had something else going for it: purity. Atop her gear perch Kael's claws curled deeply around the sides as he tail slammed down against the thick steel. It left a rather shallow dent but her mark had been made all the same as her rage began to boil over.
This wasn't a rage at the Priest nor his dominion over light nor the very church he came from but the simple, undeniable fact that she was still young. She wasn't strong enough to end this battle yet and it would continue on this way on a very slow downward spiral until she became too tired and blinded by his magic to think things through before meeting her own demise at his hand only from her own stubbornness. From stupidity.
Once his spell was complete, the Exorcist came charging full force. Had the light rejuvenated him as well?! Kael roared in protest as his blade came dangerously close yet again, this time nicking her shoulder but managing not to scrape against her skin. The purity surrounding them was causing her wound to fester and burn, a gentle sizzling sound audible in between their scuffling. If he didn't have his magic he would just be another weak human and this would have ended long ago but such was not the case.
She needed to be stronger, faster, and smarter. So far, the only intelligent decision she made while going toe to toe with this fair haired man was running and the darkness whispered for her to do it once more. Using the wall as leverage, Kael bounded off of it to build speed and charged for the Priest. Instead of widening her gaping maw for a hit, however, she slipped around him and toward one of the openings in the walls. Her claws sunk into the concrete foundation as she positioned herself, giving the Priest one last seedy glance before offering him a victorious and spiteful flash of grinning teeth and sliding noisily down the side of the building.
In the time it would take him to run down all of the stairs and come out on the ground floor, she would have long since been out of sight, either having fled discreetly or taking to the shadows for camouflage.
