Kuiba was surprised at the strength of her reaction. She was actually...upset...for him? What an odd female. Very odd. But...it was kinda nice, having her feel sorry for him and stuff. "Then your lucky with yer family. At least they care for yeh," he said, more then a little hoping to get more sympathy from her. She was rather a sweet female, and rather pretty too, so he didn't mind her feelin' sorry for him. After all, he didn't get that emotion associated with himself often.
He nodded his head, the tiniest - and most easiest to push aside- niggle of guilt struck him, at her thinking bad of his Da. He did care for the grumpy older male, and knew he kinda tried to help Kuiba out, but really, he deserved her annoyance for always siding with Kuiba's Aunt. The guilt was pushed aside easily and he continued to nod his head.
"That's 'cause yer a better person then they are," he said firmly, no hint of doubt in his voice. She was clearly better then his family. After all, he didn't know whether his family would put up with a crazy relative. He paused, resisting the urge to snicker. Wait. He was the crazy relative in his family.

"Oh, well, thank you." Kinang was a bit flustered by Kuiba's praise, telling her she was a better person, and rubbed her paw in the dirt to distract herself.
"That's very nice of you to say. And, you know, if your dad and your aunt ever get too much for you, you can come and talk to me. I mean, I'll be in the area, for a while at least. My sister seems pretty content here, for the time being."
Reminded of her sister, Kinang panicked a bit and turned around, listening carefully. It tended to be a bad idea to leave Pinakip alone for too long. She didn't hear much - some voices, but nothing loud. If she was really having problems, Pinakip would start shouting and calling down curses so everything was still under control.
"Sorry about that, I just remembered I've left Pinakip alone for a while, and it tends to be a bad idea."

He was surprised by her offer, and sort of...touched, too. She actually wanted him to come back 'round? Most folk wanted him to clear off and never come back after just one meeting with him, but this girl seemed...different. Nicer. And sure prettier then others he'd met. He felt himself growing embarrassed at his own thoughts, but tried to push it aside. "Yeh...Yeh, I think I'll do tha'," he said. "Thanks." He could use a friend, he decided, and she looked like she might need someone to talk to sometimes too. "M'family moves 'round a bit, but I'll try to keep track of yah," he said, shifting almost shyly but Kuiba was never shy. "If yah need to talk too..." he trailed off, hoping she understood his offer.
When he realised that her sister had been left alone for too long, his ears drooped a little but he nodded. "Fair 'nuff. Meerkats may be gettin' bored of her preachin'," he mused, reluctant to see her go.
He shifted. "Well, yeh...I hope to see yah 'round sometime?" he said, awkwardly.

"Oh, oh yes. Definitely. I'll keep an eye out for you. Um. it was nice to talk to you."
Kinang looked sad, but she had to go back to her sister. She had responsibilities.
"Bye, Kuiba. I hope I see you soon."

Kuiba gave her a regretful smile, as she said goodbye.
" 'Bye, Kinang," he said, before his shoulders slumped down into their usual bad posture and he slunk away back to where he knew his family would be, probably worrying that he'd snuck of to steal something. He hadn't, this time. He had found something more interesting then stealing, and that was surprising. He'd found Kinang.
