Sonnet grinned. "There's a few places I've been wanting to show you. They're on the more..." she paused for a moment. "run down side of town, but it's not as bad as most people think."
She paused for a moment before shaking her head. "I have issues thinking that Alice and Syth are older than us sometimes..." she admitted before nomming on an onion ring, quite pleased with the taste.

"Oh, really? Are the humans not as openly condescending down there?" Deskri raised a brow, truly interested. He hadn't wandered too far off campus since he had a reputation for attracting the worst people possible, and then losing his temper as soon as he ran into them. "I know. It's ridiculous. I swear I'd be a better parent and I have no interest in having children." He rolled his eyes and took another bite of cheese stick.

Sonnet nodded. "Something like that," she said as she finished her ring and started on one of the chicken strips.
Sonnet blushed, but just for a moment. "Well, I think you'd be a great dad." she said before going back to nomming again. She had forgotten how tasty chicken strips were. "Whether or not you actually become one is still open to your own interpretation."

"Hahaa, yeah, me and my unique skill of being able to burn water would make an excellent dad." He laughed a bit and shook his head. "Not as much as you'd be an awesome mom, though." He shrugged and ate another cheese stick to hide the awkward idea of Sonnet being a mother. It fit, but at the same time, it felt wrong. Just because Sonnet was Sonnet, his best friend, not someone that was old enough to have children already. "I'm pretty sure I'm good without kids..."

"Maybe right now, but you never know. You're new adult form might soon give way to the unstoppable urge to raise a child," she said with a laugh before sipping more of her lemonade as she thought for a moment about what Deskri said about her being a mom.
Would she really want to be a mom? Would it be biological or would it be adopted, like how Mizu adopted her. She gave a wistful sigh. There was no one in her life that she could seeing herself having kids with, mainly because the only one she was interested in would never be interested in her, so it'd probably be adopting. She was fine with that.

"Oh god I hope not." Deskri stared at her with a most terrified expression. "I really don't think that we--" He broke off. But this time, instead of continuing, he glanced down at his food in an attempt to regain control over himself. Oddly enough, his facial expression never changed.
"Is your food good?" He managed to ask after a moment of inner struggle.

Sonnet frowned while he was looking at his food. Good job Sonnet, make things worse why don't you? She sighed. He seemed to have more control on keeping his face illusion up. He was an adult now, so if she hadn't known who he was or anything, she never would have guessed that it was an illusion.
But she knew, she knew it very much...which got her to thinking if he disliked the purple lips, why didn't he illusion them away?
She was snapped out of these random thoughts when Deskri spoke to her again.
"Oh! Um, it's very good! How's yours?" she asked before munching on another onion ring.

"Pretty good, I've had better cheese sticks, but I guess this is a pretty small town kind of place so I can't really expect them to be amazing or anything." He responded in a sort of babble, and finally looked up.
He finished off the last cheese stick and stared at the empty plate for a moment, and sighed. "I'm not ready to talk about it yet. He's coming back, so... there's really nothing to talk about in the first place." He nodded his head a little, figuring Sonnet had already been thinking about trying to get him to talk about his situation. Well, he'd much rather avoid it and lie to himself for a little bit longer... at least until he didn't feel like going home and drowning himself in pain killers.

Sonnet gave a sad sigh. "I know he is," she said with a nod. It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the truth either. She wanted him to come back, wanted him to return with every fiber of her being so that Deskri would stop going through this. The last thing Sonnet wanted to do was to keep making sure Deskri didn't accidentally or even purposefully kill himself.
"You know that big hill on the outside of town with the small patch of trees? I've been going there almost every night. It's the highest I can get while still being in the area...I've been watching for him, for Alice and Lucian too. I don't know why there, or why at that time...I just feel like I need to be there when they come back so I can tell them what's going on, so I can hear from them why exactly they left so I can figure out whether to feel sorry for them or be angry with them..."
She looked at her food. There was still some left, but she wasn't hungry anymore.

"You have..?" He looked up, illusion faltering to show his true expression for once, which was one of desperation and yet some hidden happiness in his eyes. Knowing that she did that, even if it was perhaps just so she could lecture them when they came back, made him feel a spot of warmth on the inside. Right next to the void in his heart, and somehow, the world didn't seem as terrible as it had just seconds earlier.
"I think... I will be angry." a frown formed over his face. "Only for a little bit.. but just because... he never called. Or left a note... or anything. But after that, I don't think I'll have the ability to be angry." A sort of wistful smile came to his face as he imagined the day Rasiel returned. He'd probably get a slap in the face followed immediately by a death grip of a hug.

Sonnet tried to smile as she caught a glimpse of Deskri's real face, but the smile was pained at best. She shook her head, trying to rid her mind of depressing thoughts, but right now it wasn't working. She let that one in, and now they were swarming her head like bees. Angry angst ridden bees.
"I'm not hungry anymore..." she proclaimed with a lackluster tone in her voice before waving down their waitress and asking for a box.

"Okay... do you... still want to go shopping?" He asked as he replaced his real face with another mask which had a worried expression on it. "We don't have to, if you don't want to... I know I kind of ruined the mood." He sighed, leaning back as the waitress came over and changed Sonnet's plate with a box and then set down the tab.
Since she had combined the two, he reached out and snatched it before Sonnet noticed.

Sonnet obviously wasn't her full self right now, or she'd have probably gotten into a playful argument/ fight with Deskri over the check, but instead she was just having a hard time keeping herself composed.
"Nono, shopping is still good. Where we're going always makes me feel better..." she said, solidifying the fact that they were going where she wanted to. She was hoping this place would cheer up Deskri too, at least a little bit.

"Mmkay... it must be a good place then." Deskri forced a lopsided grin and placed the check and his card out on the table for the waitress, who came back and retrieved it almost immediately.
A moment later she came back and handed the card and a few receipts to Deskri. "All right where is this place you like so much, anyway?" He scooted himself out of the booth and straightened himself out.

Sonnet got up from her seat and stretched a bit before heading towards the door, ready for a change in scenery.
"On the other side of town," she said with a slight smile. "Hope you don't mind walking, but then again I could fly us over there..." There was a slyness in her voice for the last part. She knew how much he hated heights, but then he always ended up flying with her anyway.
