He said nothing to all that, but at least he didn't add to it, either. This was as good of a victory as the girls would get, for the time being. It was just the way Xavier was - he'd dug his own mental hole, and it would only be him that would pull him out of it.
He didn't need to ask about the crystal. Somehow, he knew - weither it had been the look on their faces when they came in, or that feeling of loss that seemed to course inside, bone-deep. It reminded him of another thing, though. His valid hand went to rest over Bell's, but his gaze was on Tallulah.
"Something weird happened." He needed to tell her now. She'd want to know of it, but he'd forgotten. If he didn't say it now, he would probably forget again. "At the corn maze. I was in the first group that went in there." He paused, trying to gather his thoughts. "There was a monster inside. It looked like a youma, but I dunno. It wasn't someone in costume." Wouldn't he know ? He was a senshi-- "When I tried to henshin... it didn't work. Something wouldn't let me. I don't know what it was."

Lily frowned at Xavier's words. She was going to participate in the corn maze, but she ended up going to dinner with her brother instead. The thought that a monster had been in the maze and they had been unable to defend themselves against it was frighten and quiet enough to dampen ones mood.
Doubt crept into her mind. She hadn't thought that the ball had been a trap or a conspiracy, but now proof seemed to be staring her in the face. Lula and Bell seemed more right in the moment, they need to find out more about both events the maze and the ball.
She frowned slightly, but made up her mind about one thing. She was going back to the carnival tonight. She was going to check out the maze first then the ball. Every thing was adding up, but it felt like their answer was off.

"Something was... stopping you?" asked Tallulah, concern playing clearly across her face. If there was something that could prevent them from henshining, then they needed to find out what it was and find a way to keep the negaverse from weaponizing it. "And there was... a youma?"
"How did you guys get out alive?" she asked, leaning forward. A group of kids, taking on a youma, and none of them could henshin up - it was practically unheard of. At least, she'd never heard of civilians taking down one of the negaverse's beasts before.
"We need to find out who was on the planning committee," she declared. "Who would have had the authority to rig both events."
But, then, if the negaverse had a way to keep senshi from henshining, then why wouldn't they have used it tonight at the ball? Things would have been even more in their favor then, unless there was some kind of drawback to using it. There was so much more to this situation than she could possibly wrap her head around right now.

What kind of question was that ? "I ran." What else could he have done but run like a little boy ? Not much. "It stopped following me after awhile." Probably going for someone else.
One of these deaths might very well be his fault, and it only made the whole thing worse.

"Oh," nodded Tallulah. It wasn't the best answer and certainly not helpful to the investigation, but as an answer it made sense enough. She glanced at her phone, finally realizing it had been buzzing for the last twenty minutes. "Ahh! I missed like a zillion calls from my dad, and it's getting super-late."
She frowned at the assembled team and helpfully said, "We're going to have our next meeting at Lily's house, okay? Zay needs his rest, so we'd better get out of here."
She waved from the doorway. "Don't do anything stupid before we see you next," she warned.

Lily had been sitting quietly for a moment, but help voicing her thought, once they reached the waiting area.
"This is probably a very bad idea, but I am going back tonight. I want to see if things will be as they were or if the massacre has been covered up in our absence. I also want to check out the maze." She said this looking between equally between all of her teammates, speaking quietly.
"This is all very confusing and if it truly is a conspiracy, I do not think going home just yet is going to get us any answers. We need to investigate the scenes of the crime," she said looking very serious and determined. Nothing they could say could change her mind or stop her, short of attacking her and that most certainly would draw attention to them. No she was going if, she had to go home first and sneak out later.
She was going to get grounded either way. She looked at her teammates and headed for the door.
