"Nice to meet you, Nessie!" She said with a slight nod and a big happy grin. She hadn't been expecting to meet anyone out on her swim today, but it was a nice experience! As far as she could remember, anyway.
"Why don't you get many visitors? You have a very nice home, though I suppose I sort of just ran in without asking." Her grin turned slightly sheepish, "Didn't know you lived here."

"Most people know I'm here. That's why they don't come." She tilted her head to look at the girl, "It's okay. You can come anytime you want. I don't mind visitors, if they're nice."
The girl was very odd, but she was refreshing. Silly, but still....she was someone and she was here. She was entertaining.

She furrowed her brow a little, confused as to why others would avoid this very place if they knew this mer lived here. Why were others avoiding her? She wasn't scary... and she wasn't trying to attack her... though she supposed she was on land and Nessie couldn't very well come after her here. Had she been any different in the water? Dulce tried to recall, but all she got was a blurry memory of movement and a sudden jolt of pain in her jaw. But even that was gone in a moment. How strange.
"Oh, great! I love swimming, though I don't do it very often. Usually more often in the summer though." She paused a moment and lifted a hoof that then extended a little towards Nessie as she asked, "...Why... Why don't others want to visit you?" Her head tilted, still a bit of a scowl on his face, she just didn't understand. She seemed nice enough to her.

"I'm what most little kids have nightmares about, it's no wonder they don't want to see me when they're awake." She looked at Dulce for a long moment, "What's it like to be on land? To come and go as you please? To run?"
Nessie had always wondered if it would have been easier if she'd had four legs. She could have hide, escaped...went anywhere she wanted and did anything she pleased. The idea was both appealing and terrifying.

She listened and as she listened her brow furrowed more, again. It started to seem like her face might just get stuck like that.
What was it like to run? Well, that was a hard question to answer, wasn't it? "It's... Dry, I suppose. And windy, at times. But there's a lot of places to go and see, like the desolate deserts, dry and hot as you can imagine. And the giant trees to see in the ancient forests, taller and more green than you can see."
That was all she could really come up with, and it was meager, she knew, but how could one describe such an experience to one that had never set hoof on land?

"That sounds...amazing." Nessie felt a bit of jealousy at being able to experience such things. After all, she would never get to experience them. Never be able to run, or feel the wind run through her hair. She'd never have hair....

"Hmmm..." the mare breathed as she considered the weight of the mer's words. She had never really thought about it that way. She had always been able to walk on land, to climb a hill and change her environment by walking further and further. But wouldn't the same be true of the oceans? Just... well... wetter?
"But... what of the sea? The oceans, and rivers? I can never explore those, not really. And I will never be able to experience them as you have."
She nodded, her words were also true, though she really didn't know where she was going with this. It just... kind of seemed like the right thing to say.

"Only these waters," Nessie flipped her tail. "But they are home. And for the most part, safe for me."
Nessie flipped around and splashed around. "But we are who we are, and we can only be where we're at."

She nodded carefully, considering what the mer said. She couldn't really understand why she would only stay in the waters that she knew, after all, didn't she want to go further and see the things that she hasn't yet seen? Perhaps she was just not as adventurous as Dulce. That must be it.
But what was said next thoroughly confused the land-dwelling mare. She tilted her head to the side, as if that would help her process the statement somehow. But instead of helping her understand, what happened was much more destructive.
A voice inside of her head began to speak to her. "Look at what big teeth she has... she even told you she was a monster... why are you still here? Look at her slick ways... She shouldn't be trusted... No, no, no. She should be eliminated."
As it spoke to her, her blue eye began to shine brighter, becoming more dominant as she lost control over her sanity and reason. Dropping down low, the mare kept facing Nessie but now her expression was no longer friendly and she was quickly forgetting the nice conversation that the two mares had just shared.

Nessie flicked her tail and watched, backing away slowly. "What's the matter, are you okay?" The girl's pupil was oddly large and she looked crazed. What was happening to her? She looked like she was loosing it, becoming crazed over something.
She tried going over what was said or done, but nothing seemed more than innocent.

Front half closer to the ground, her tail flicked back and forth testily. Crazed would definitely be the right way to describe her current, and sudden state. There was certainly nothing wrong or undesirable about the conversation the two mares had been having, it was merely like a ticking time bomb that her voice came back to talk to Dulce Periculum.
"Now! Do it now! Duck in low, and then push with all your legs so that you can leap straight on top of the beast! Do it before she starts asking more questions!!" The voice was, of course, only inside of the land-mare's head, and for that matter might not even be real in the first place. But it was just so irresistible that she had no control over herself. Well... almost.
As she began to bound towards the mer, ignoring her polite questions of her health, Dulce questioned her actions at the very last second, and just as she was about to push upwards and lunge out into the water at Nessie, her brown eye flashed and the question came out audibly, though rather quietly, "She's no monster..." And instead of leaping the mare quickly slid her back legs under her and scrambled to turn around as quick as she could. She kept her pace, quick and frantic as she galloped as fast as she could in the opposite direction of the water. Back into the treelines she faded with her hair being pushed back in the wind and her limbs almost moving of their own accord. A sudden bout of laughter erupted from her lungs, loud and perhaps clear on the wind. What made her laugh? Well it's not like anyone was about to stop and ask her.
