Gabriel felt like slapping himself in the face. This woman was fine with the idea of killing him, and he was still fascinated by her beauty. He should be disgusted by now! But the trip down those steps... And her digging into the corset... Ugh!

It wasn't until he saw her color change that he realized something was up. Something the assasin didn't like. All of a sudden his upstairs brain kicked back into full gear. Now or never it seemed. Crouching down, he quickly shoved himself into Quintessa with as much power as he could muster, his free hand snapping out for the spear and his chained hand yanking upward with the aim to reach over her head and trap her arm against her chest.

It took a while for the assasin's brain to kick back into gear. She instinctively bucked against him, but surprise made her slow, and as her hand disappeared between her breasts she could only glower at her mark. "I bet you think your on top, don't cha?" Quintessa snarled, with an impressive hack, spat in his face.

Now what was she supposed to do? If she brought that out this early, he might figure out a way to counteract that too. Foxtaurs and their damned trickiness. Now or never, it seemed. Quintessa's eyes changed from their burnt orange to a light, electric blue as a grin spread out across her face. The tip of her spear began shooting off tiny sparks of electricity, then spread down the handle to Gabriel's hand.

He should have tried to find out what had made her so pale earlier... Too late for that though. "Well, if not on top then at least on the side." He growled back, closing his eyes just in time to keep spit out of them. With one eye covered with Quintessa's expectorant, he finally got a grip on the spear. The key for the shackles must be hidden within her corset. ..........damn it.

Before he realized what had happened, his arm clenched up in shock of her magic, making him grit his teeth. "Son-of-a-" Magic? Really? She was resorting to that? He snorted a short laugh before his arm got the power to release the spear again. Jumping back, he gave a vicious yank on their chained wrists, trying to get her off balance again. "Come on. Can't handle me?" He taunted, swiping at his eye quickly to clear it, grinning through the stinging his arm was feeling after being shocked.

Quintessa's glare hardened as her magic intensified. The spear was lined with a metal that magnified her already potent magic, making it night impossible for anyone to hold onto it, but her. Any other weapon and she would have been dead by now.

Quintessa laughed sarcastically. "You know what they say about big talkers. Their obviously compensating for something." She teetored off balance for a second, then purposely dropped and aimed a kick at his gut for her forepaw, yanking on the chain to hold him steady.

Damn that spear! "Oh yeah? Says the one using magic against someone who doesn't have the luxury." Trying to figure out what to do about that magic, Gabriel barely had time to twist from her leg, still recieving a small line of scratches on his abdomen. Growling, he suddenly found himself off balanced thanks to the combined kick, tug, and twist. With Quintessa pulling on his hand, there was only one way to fall... Right toward the assasin...

Thinking he was going in for a strike, Quintessa raised her hand in a fist and found herself falling backwards. She hit the ground with a thump and a yelp, her mark right ontop of her.

The assasin blew her hair out of her face and stared at Gabriel. And stared. And stared some more. Then she grinned, "I'm flattered. Even in the face of death, you still want me."

Gabriel blinked a couple times before realization hit. Well, realization went out the window when his gaze caught her stare, those amazing eyes once again orange, looking so deeply- Ack! He was seriously, seriously mentally broken! Maybe it was all the worms he had eaten as a child? Perhaps his mother was right; he was an animal. Though, she was usually refering to how he flew through the house and accidently knocked things over.

He couldn't hide his smile at her light tease, a smile that was a half wince. He didn't have the pleasure of denying what was true. He tried to think of something.... Eh, thinking was over-rated. "You should be." He said with a wink, figuring she would think he was just playing. "I have fairly high standards, ya know. Now, how about you get your little key, undo these shackles, and we can both go on our merry ways. You can say someone intervened or something." He crooned, trying to not think about how close they were. How rediculous. She was ready to kill him, and he couldn't stop thinking about her curves. Bugger all! Was he really that bad?

"As honored as I am that you were sent to kill me, you with your charming personality and all, I think I've had enough of this jousting rendezvous." He really was glad to see a little personality in the woman. He'd probably be dead already if she'd had none.

Quintessa couldn't stop her heart from racing when he looked at her in that way. What was she doing?! He was her mark, her target, and if she didn't finish this job soon she might crumble, then her life would be sure to follow after.

She couldn't hold back from raising her hand and running it through his hair. She cupped his ear, and massaged circles into the inside of it with the pad of her thumb. "Oh, really?" She had a feeling his 'standards' only required the object to be female and breathing.

Quintessa winced and squirmed to the right, her free hand reflexitively going to her breasts. "Even if that were possible, there wouldn't be any way in hell that I'd let you go." She leaned forward, whispering the last part into his ear before pulling back. Then as bluntly as possible, Quintessa said, "I lost the key."

Fighting to keep from leaning into her hand, his stubborn tail insisted on twitching with pleasure. He hated to think about how the breath on his ear sent a warm feeling up his back, how his mind took her words and tried to twist them into a more romantic meaning than he thought she would ever imply.

But then... it was his turn to stare. And stare. "You..." He took a second to wrap that around his mind. "Lost..." So, they were stuck like this?! Suddenly, a smooth grin lifted his face. "You know, there are easier ways to get a guy than this." He propped himself up onto his elbows, tapped a finger to Quintessa's chin, and then shook their shackles to clink lightly for emphasis. "If this relationship is going to work, I think you have a few trust issues to work out." Trying to remain cool, his mind was racing madly. Shackled together?! Lost key?! He'd had her pinned, and possibly the upper hand, but now that wouldn't do him any good.

Quintessa's forepaws wrapped lazily around his waist. Her claws picked at his fur, drumming out the rhythm that was her growing agitation. But she wasn't angry; just aggrivated at how things were turning out and by how good it felt to be lying near a boatdock underneath a stranger.

"Lost, yes." She huffed and rolled her eyes. This wasn't any easier to comprehend on her than it was him. "You...you b*****d!" Quintessa slapped his head with the hand she'd used to caress it just a moment ago. When he tapped her chin, she pouted. Where did he get off looking so good when the situation was so bad? "Trust issues are the least of our problems. These shackles-" she shook them. "-are infused with magic. I can't break them, and I don't know who can."

"Okay! Okay! I was joking! Really!" Oddly enough, the smack upside his head that made his ear sting only made him laugh. The way he saw it, it wasn't a punch, so she wasn't too angry. And if she wasn't too angry, she was less likely to be willing to kill him and just drag his corpse until finding a way to get free.

He glanced at their chains. Magical shackles? Seriously? "Wow, you really want to keep me around." Remembering the smack his free hand quickly came up in surrender. "Sorry! Joking again." Really, with her paws around him and the warmth of her body, she probably wouldn't have needed the shackles to keep him around. Well, as long as she took away the whole death threat...

Speaking of... he dared to look away from her face, lifting to look at the scratches across his stomach, pressing a hand to them to ease the bleeding. Those were starting to sting, too. They reminded him to not relax around the woman. Why was he relaxing at all?! "So, eh.. backtrack?"

She seriously wanted to reach out and strangle him. "How can you still be joking at a time like this." She raised her hand to smack him again, and only pulled back with a frown when he appologized. Really.

Quintessa followed his hand to his bleeding abdomen. She didn't feel regret, or any sense of urgency to help him, since it was her mission to kill him. She just wished they had been deeper.

However, what she did regret was moving her paws underneath him to shove Gabriel to the side. "I just hope it's still there." She seized the oppurtunity to seize her spear and pointed it at his chest, "Hop along, Gabriel."

Gabriel shrugged. "Defense mechanism?"

Tumbling away at the sudden shove, he shook his head out, eyeing the spear warily. Relaxing... nice move there. "So, hey, since, you know, we're kinda stuck like this... truce?" He held up his hand in a peace sign before pressing it back to his abdomen. "You have the spear and the magic after all. I'll hop as long as I don't become a kabob along the way. Besides, the spear is kinda conspicuous pointed at me like that."

Quintessa eyed him warily, one eyebrow slowly raising into her hairline. "A truce? We were never at war, sugar; your my prey and it's staying that way. Walk." However, she couldn't argue the facts, and held her spear more casually in her hand. "And stop doing that; making magic out to be a cheaters weapon. It's natural and I can't help it that you lack any talent."

Walking without arguement, he glanced at the female with a shrug. "You're trying to kill me, I'm fighting back. Sounds like war to me. I just mean, don't attack me and I'll stop trying to escape. Well... for now."

He looked down at her spear, feeling the lingering tingle in his shocked arm. "I never said it was cheating. It's just... a fairly steep advantage." He cocked a brow, feeling his chest puff in offense. "No talent? I believe it took more than no talent to pin you back there."
