"Pssh, you think anyone cares if it's legal or not? And who cares about the Canadians anyway?" Writ blew up on his bangs. Canada never had anything nice to say about it's southern cousin. He didn't blame them, the government had done a bunch of things that Writ disagreed with- mainly the whole decision to nuke Southern. He was more than just a little sore about that.

"The trick is meant to get people through the door, and that's what they're doing." Writ was pretty keen on eating something that was cheap, tasty, and at the very least fifty percent real, but as the line moved forward, and the food started moving on their trays, Writ began to realize two things: that the burgers looked too disappointing to be actual beef, and that Blacksuits seem to like this place, a lot. There was a small squad of them hunched over the plastic tables.

Writ tried not to look at them, and focused on the menu as they ordered.

"I'll take a large number one with barbacue sauce and a cola, and my friend will have...." He looked to Fish, "What do you want?"

"A number three and... just water," Fish filled in, sneaking nervous glances over his shoulder at the Blacksuits. "To go," he added firmly. They couldn't stay here, not looking like they did. Blacksuits were bad. He just knew it, instinctively, in his gut.

"Do you think," he asked Writ as they waited for their food, "That they could still be looking for me? I mean, surely they think I'm dead."

Persy had fed him full of conspiracy theories and a good, healthy fear of gods, monsters, and other things that went bump in the night. Fish grabbed his bag and pulled the other man towards the door. "I mean, they couldn't, right?"

Writ shrugged, he honestly didn't know the answer to that one. His knowledge on the Blacksuits was really limited to how to get their attention, and after that how to piss them off. But really, what else was there to know?

"Whoa whoa whoa! Fish, slow down! You're gonna tear my arm off!" Writ held back his panicking friend and pulled him along slowly, "Just calm down, geez." He wrenched Fish out the door.

The old Fish wasn't as jittery as this, and while Writ was a little empathic to his friend's situation, he tried hard not to smack him. Him and Fish were gods, for gods' sake. All Blacksuits were just a bunch of thugs that were messing with things that they didn't understand.

"Look, they're not as tough as they look." Writ said, as they walked down the street, "I fought them, you obviously fought them." He eyed Fish's wound, "And we'll fight them again."

"Obviously," snorted Fish, jabbing a finger at the leather armor strapped to his chest, "I fought them and lost." Still, he was calming down. If Writ didn't care, then the best thing to do would be to keep a low profile, act calm. The suits didn't seem to be paying them any attention, which didn't mean they hadn't noticed them.

"They couldn't still be looking for me, could they?" he asked quietly, still caught up on the idea. But he'd died. He'd been shot - by Blacksuits? He suspected by Blacksuits.

"I don't want to fight here," he said nervously. "Not now. I left my trident back at Seasons..."

It was catch-22 with the trident. It was too big to carry around and too vital to leave at home. Maybe he'd see about finding a way to fold it up.

"You only lose when you stop moving for good." Writ said as they walked down the street. Even if your arms and legs were chopped off, as long as you're still trying to bite someone's legs off, you were still alive. A little loony, yes- but loony was pretty much par for the course when godlings are concerned.

"You tell me." Writ took a quick glance when Fish asked about the Blacksuits, "Are they following us?" He didn't see anything- but he was busy wondering what Central's "100% Beef" was going to taste like.

He pulled his shirt up, and revealed his tomahawk between him and his jean's waist, "I got us covered, don't worry about it."

Fish frowned indecisively and glanced behind them. "No," he said, sighing. "No one in sight. But I've got every right to be nervous, haven't I?" he asked, and reached into his takeout bag for his burger. He unwrapped it carefully as they walked, took a bite, and chewed thoughtfully for a while.

Fish spit into the gutter. "Tastes like cardboard," he grimaced. "I don't even know what cardboard tastes like. I don't even know what cardboard is, but this tastes like it."

He held his burger out to Writ. "You want it?" he asked. "I lost my appetite."

Writ promptly ate both burgers. He didn't know about Fish, but he was starving. Tasteless or not, food was food, and so long as it resembled something edible, he was going to devour it.

"Cardboard is, well..." Writ didn't really feel like describing it, "You know what boxes are made of? There you go."

Writ didn't know what more he could educate his friend about. The problem was that there was way too much in the city that Fish had to catch up on. He could only drag Fish around so much before Persy started missing him. He sat down on a bench and pulled out his pipe. He was about to light up when he realized what he could teach him about before shuffling him back to Persy...

"You know, I think I got just the thing to take the edge off." Writ lit up his pipe and handed it to Fish.
