-She was surprised out of her thoughts by the sound of her name, turning to spot someone in a dress of similar colors. And though they certainly weren't 'friends' it was easy enough to make her out behind the masque. She looked like just as much of a princess tonight as she'd looked at the debutante ball.

The question brought forth a mild twitch of the lips, realizing only now as it was said how very appropriate her own costume was. How many times had she actually heard that little label. Aurora nodded a little both in answer and greeting.- "Hello Elegancia, you're looking lovely tonight as usual."

-Ah manners. Not that Aurora minded Elegancia, or was trying that hard. The two might have actually got along if they'd ever had the inclination to try.- "I've had a lot of practice lately at least. I helped to run the cake walk at the carnival."

-It seemed strange to see her alone now that Aurora thought about it. The other girl was most certainly the sort to travel with an entourage. Hmmm.- "Is your date off getting you a drink? Or are you waiting on some friends?"

"Oh, the cake walk! I did not have the pleasure of tasting one of your confections," Elegancia began to trail off as she thought about the carnival, "but I can imagine how lovely they must have been!" She lied, of course. Last she checked, Aurora's cooking wasn't anywhere near Elegancia's standards. But that was life, she supposed. Maybe Aurora would one day become a top chef.

A sore nerve was struck when Aurora asked about her date. Why did she have to assume that she came with someone? The truth was, Elegancia came alone-- but hopefully she'd find someone to mingle with. "No, no," she started with a grimace, "there's no date. I came alone. And yourself?" Elegancia looked over Aurora's shoulders in hopes of seeing a familiar (and welcome) face.

"There is alot of traffic." Xavier confirmed, then pulled his out his cellphone to hand it over to Tallulah. "Call him, maybe ? I've got my car, if he needs to be picked up." Sure, he'd never truly met the guy, and sure, he went to Hillsworth, but Xavier has 100% faith in Tallulah's judgment. He couldn't be so bad.

In the meanwhile, though... "Maybe we could check out the table ?" Trust Xavier to go right for the food. Expecially that cake. By gods, that cake. It was beautiful, and he wanted, no, he needed to eat it.

One could only wonder how he was as skinny as he was.

User Image ((Her hair is braided with fake snake heads attached at the ends, most hang down but a few actually stand up thanks to a little wire. Her mask is like the green one on the left bottom))

-Aitana's costume was perhaps at bit more, or rather less then the organizers had hoped for. It wasn't horribly obscene everything important was covered, but it certainly wasn't chaste either as seen by the few inches of butt check that peeked from the body suit. It was borderline to say the least, but was it enough to kick her out?

A few of the guards and adults had seemed to think over that possibility, pulling her away from the main line while they discussed. All the while Aitana stood, looking a mixture of dumbfounded and bored. She really didn't understand what exactly was going on, something to do with her costume. It was a very good costume she'd thought! The idea to make her hair into snakes had been inspired, and she was so surprised and thrilled when she spotted the 'clothing' that matched her hair and mask so well at that specialty store.

It was finally a gesture that clued her in, her chest puffing as she huffed loudly, the words both aggressive and thick with her accent.- "You think is too sexy!?"

"In Carnival at home the woman's chests can be bare even! I am covered, is not sexy. Is MEDUSA!" -Whether it was fear of causing a loud scene, or simply fear of offending the now obviously foreign student (and it eventually getting back to somehow get the school in trouble) the group relented letting the girl go. Aitana wasn't above shooting them a nasty look as she parted.

Her aggression and irritation was quickly sedated as she stepped into the ball room, eating up the decor with exhuberance. It was like stepping into a haunted mansion or castle. She was drawn quickly towards the towering cake and the smoking punch, batting at the swirling fog for a while with a grin.- "Heeh..."

---------------

"It was a lot more fun then I thought it would be." -She admitted shifting her weight slightly onto the staff that rest beside her. Though her companion might have been looking for an out Aurora seemed to be settling in to the conversation.- "I didn't get to see much of the rest of the carnival, only a few booths in my break times. Did you have a booth too? Or did you just go for recreation?"

-Aurora's surprise to the response to her question was for the most part hidden behind her crystiline mask, but her embarrasment was clear to read.- "I'm here by myself too"

"I was just thinking how fun it might be to pretend to be someone else tonight though. Meet a lot of new people." -Her eyes had traveled to the crowd as she spoke. It had always been painful obvious how few friends Aurora had. Few enemies, many aquantances, but few real friends. But then didn't they always say that a few close friends were worth more than a hoard of fairweather ones.-

Gloria wasn't into balls. At least, not the kind her invitation implied, but her grandfather had insisted (begged, pressed, threatened). She enjoyed a house party every now and again, but these kind of shin-digs implied a high-tier finesse that she had never been good at or comfortable with. Not that she didn't like schmoozing with other people, but you could only rub elbows long enough until it all started chafing. And Halloween? God, the only dressing up she liked to do was in the ring, so she was without much of a theme as she stepped into the room, dressed in a cocktail dress that could have doubled as a shirt with its length (lack thereof, rather), despite its plunging back, hair piled atop her head in a mess of waves and curls that caught in the beads of her mask. Her eyeshadow was dark, raccoon-esque, false lashes ending in speckled quail feathers; her lips were brighter than blood. Gloria blew a stray curl from her face and surveyed the floor with a quick sweep of her eyes before she made her way towards the punch bowl. This party was going to be a bust. Thank God she had pre-gamed just to take the edge off.

And it was that same alcohol that had her whirling around upon hearing a familiar voice-- or maybe it was the alcohol that made her smile instead of grimace (or worse, lose her temper). Either way, Gloria swept over towards the prissy girl in the blue dress with a stride that would set the catwalk on fire, and promptly dropped her arm around Elegancia's shoulder. The clutch that was meant to draw her in was more like a well-disguised headlock. Between her height and heels, Gloria was a whole ele taller than Ele.

"She lies," she said swiftly, a vicious smile splitting her mouth like a gash that she set on Aurora. "I'm her date."

She raised her brows, false-and-feathered lashes fluttering. Her fingernails, practically talons, stood out like shifting bruises on Elegancia's much paler skin; they pinched down. Hard.

If this were an online conversation, Elegancia would have spewed letter vomits and promptly blocked Gloria from her instant messenger. When had she last seen this hulking beast of a woman? It had been only a few weeks.

With the massive man-arm wrapped around her shoulders, Elegancia couldn't help but coyly smile at Aurora. "Oh, she wishes." She waved at Aurora, "now, if you'll excuse me-- us-- I'll be back momentarily." She attempted to walk away, but Gloria's Hulk headlock was too firm. So she guided the two off into the corner, Gloria's arm entwined her all the while.

"You know, you really smell awful. I know you're poor, but do you bathe?" Gloria opened her mouth to respond, to which Elegancia got a disgusting whiff of her alcoholy breath, "and brush your teeth, for that matter?" She fanned the air in front of her nose, then continued, "I know it would make you look oh-so-much better, but please do not go around telling people you're my date. If you're a lesbian, that's just fine and dandy... But I am not. Sorry to burst your little bubble."

That must have been why Gloria was so awful to her at the restaurant-- she was in a madly unrequited love with Elegancia!!

She didn't fight it when she was lead away, waving with her fingers after Aurora in departure, but halfway through point A and point B Gloria lost interest in Elegancia, arm slipping from her shoulder. When they stopped, her arms went akimbo in a pose that, if she was sober, would have been her 'impatient' stance, but seeing as she was [pleasantly] buzzed, she thought she looked more like Wonder Woman. Looking down at Elegancia, she laughed. A shame there weren't any tables nearby.

"Cute. Where do you pull these things from?" Gloria watched a man dressed in violet and an obscene amount of feathers wander by before she returned her gaze to the smaller girl. She wrinkled her nose, "How are you even here? Shouldn't you be out trick-or-treating?"

Adira arrived to the ball with little affair, lightly holding the arm of her father. Her gold and white ensemble fit in well with the black and white decor. She hadn't had any true costume in mind, other than wanting to wear the mask her father had brought her. Her hair was left long with little round golden clips strung throughout. Fairly soon after her arrival she said her farewells and departed to look for friends. Not only had she promised to meet Elegancia, but she also wanted tonight to be about fun and not business. It wasn't often that you took a night off of patrolling, fighting, and mayhem to attend a ball. Not only that, but Adira hadn't attended an overly extravagant event in some time, which always made the experience more enjoyable.

It didn't take her long to locate her powder blue companion, who was about as extravagant as herself. "Elegancia?" She came up behind the other girl, announcing herself politely. She didn't know the girl that her co-captain was talking to, but she didn't wish to be rude either. Even if it seemed that Ele was less than enthused with her current companion. "Excuse me for interrupting."

"I'll thank you to pay attention to me when I am speaking to you," Elegancia spat, leering up at the amazon in front of her. "Did you hear what I said? I do not want you running around with your little crush on me and spreading awful rumors." Elegancia crossed her arms and waited for Gloria to string intelligent thoughts together.

She visibly did so.

"Oh, you and your insults. Don't forget that I've got you thrown out of one place before." She proceeded to throw a ringed finger up in Gloria's face (it was quite a distance), then continued, "I'll get you and your man body thrown out of here so fast if there's any funny business." Elegancia began to hope that there would be a Negaverse attack just to get Gloria's starseed.

It wouldn't be a loss.

Bell giggled a bit, "Lead the way!" Bell wasn't quite hungry yet, but she was more than happy in indulge his stomach. In the time they'd spent together, Bell had grown quite fond of Xavier. She enjoyed his company. She was content, save for when something even vaguely senshi-esque came up, or well,...came to mind. She couldn't help but wonder how much easier things would be if Xavier were also a senshi.

Ah. Irony.

Irony was such an amazing thing, indeed. Xavier didn't even have an inkling of a doubt that Bell was a senshi. She couldn't be, she simply couldn't !

He was completely oblivious as to what was happening further in the room. For now, only two things existed - Bell, and cake, oh my god glorious cake. He was more than willing to blame his increased appetite on the patrol he'd done earlier, and not the fact that he was an endless glutton when sweets came in the equation.

He wasn't worried at all about his cellphone - it was nice and safe in Tallulah's hands. It only made it more obvious that he trusted her a great deal.

"Do you want some ?" He asked her, as he was cutting a piece. That one would be hers if she wanted it - couldn't forget his manners ! - but if not, that bit of cake was allll his.

Bell was not entirely sure that such an ornate cake was meant to be eaten just yet. Even so, she wasn't hungry yet. She shook her head, "Mm, not right now."
Bell did make note on the other foods there in case she got hungry later. She was more of a pastry and fruits girl than a sugary sweet cake girl anyway.

Xavier was, for the most part, a 'is it edible ?' guy. Unless it was seafood. Or if it looked gross. There was to way to get him to eat something that looked gross.

That cake, thankfully, looked anything but gross, and so he happily tended to his little piece. At least he wasn't scarfing it down like his cat could scarf down her food. Not that would have been un-graceful.

"Hm..." He said in between two mouthfuls. People were starting to come in, mostly people he didn't know, beside Tallulah and his lovely company. "We could go hang out on the balcony ? Im sure Tal will find us again once we're done." She knew him too well not to. Too many people meant he would locate himself where there were the least people.

Hopefully Bell wouldn't ask him to dance. This would only end in disaster.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 31, 2010 5:43 pm

"Sounds like an idea to me," Bell nodded. The air that night was crisp, but not entirely unpleasant.

As for dancing, Xavier was safe. Bell wasn't the type to ask such - that was the boy's job. Bell was a total follower anyway. Or maybe that was just a bit of shyness. One wouldn't think an actress as being shy, but hey~

Saying 'do not' was the same as saying 'please do, and with gusto' to Gloria. She had never been so reputation conscious as the girl before her obviously was. No, Gloria had always preferred notoriety -- even if now it was only ever inside the ring. Outside, her antics had only ever gotten her sent to the principal's office when she was back in school; nothing to warrant a front page splash on some tabloid. She pressed her hands flat to her chest, adopting a look of desperation.

"But how can I even hope to contain my crush on you. I just want us to be together. I can't hide it any longer!" she gushed, voice climbing. Gloria dropped her hands after a moment, rolling her eyes. She guided Elegancia's finger from her face with one of her own, resisting the urge to grab it and snap it like fresh celery; she needed that energy to think.

"Don't flatter yourself, hon'," she drawled, sucking her words back into her mouth when their little two-person party was interrupted. Gloria's hands returned to her hips as she turned, regarding the girl in gold coolly (more like trying to get her gaze to focus so a little staring was expected), lips twisting at the corner. The smile wasn't unfriendly, just closed off.

"You're not interrupting anything at all. I was trying to get her--" she jutted a thumb out at Elegancia "-- to talk out all her hot air so I could ask for a truce. I'm Gloria."

She thrust her hand out, and though her attention kept long enough to receive a response from Adira, her eyes moved over to the punch table again.

"You girls want some punch?"
