Vance's focus wasn't wavering, as the boy even tilted side to side at one point to look at her hair as well. How interesting. Very interesting.

So they were here somewhere. Maybe he might see them if he stuck around longer. Vance decided he would put off choosing a dessert in favor of speaking with Seidh some more. Despite the girl being associated with dead people, his interest was still strong.

"Maybe the dead people need new batteries." Vance said suddenly. "Dad said cars have to get new batteries when they die. Do people have batteries? Maybe hearts are like batteries. If you gave the hearts a jump start like cars do with jumper cables, do you think the people would come back?"

Seidh couldn’t help but blink a bit more as she was apparently being studied. This little boy was intense like Fremere…but in a much different way. It seemed like the cakes were forgotten for now and while Akuja was probably expecting the small girl back in a relatively timely matter, but it was rude to walk away from a conversation, right?

The girl’s expression faltered a bit as the boy was suddenly off on a new tangent. A tangent she didn’t even want to try and explain to the boy…but it would be rude to ignore his questions, wouldn’t it? “Um…” The girl started, suddenly glancing around, hoping for…something? Akuja did explain to them a bit about death without scaring them, and that the people who were in the funeral home could not and would not come back to life. At the hospital it was possible, but not once they were at the funeral home.

She didn’t want to upset Vance though!

“…My mother says…sometimes that works…jump staring….people’s heart…batteries…sometimes…but um…At my mother’s work…they…can’t….”

They can't? Vance tilted his head slightly. But she worked with dead people. Why not have the right tools? "Maybe she doesn't have the right tools. Dad has extra jumper cables if she wants!" Vance said optimistically. He stopped short of his enthusiasm with a thoughtful hum. "Oh, but I shouldn't say that. They aren't my tools to give." Those poor dead people. "Just let your mom know those things are easy to get! They have stores that sell them."
Because to Vance, life was just that simple.

"Do you like video games? I do. But some of my friends don't, so I have to ask. What do you like to do?" Why Vance had so many questions was beyond comprehension.

Seidh waited a bit tensely, hoping she wouldn’t upset the boy with her answer and seemed relieved at his response. The small girl just nodded her head at Vance’s “helpful” suggestion and decided to not correct the little boy’s thoughts and idea. “…Alright.” She humored, “I shall make sure to tell my mother that.” If that’s what the boy wanted to believe, she was more than fine with keeping it that way.

Um…” Video games now, huh? “…I have seen some at the mall but…I haven’t really played them…They look fun though.” What did she like to do? “…I like to…rollerblade…read…draw…take care of my fish….what do you like to do?”

Vance fell into the white lie completely. His delusions were safe for the time being.

"They are fun!" Vance assured with a grin. He listened to the girl list off her hobbies. They sounded fun! He had seen people on rollerblades before. "I like swimming, and playing with toys, and drawing, and reading, and jumping and rolling and climbing and exploring." Ever the master of a run on sentence, the boy barely took a breath. He seemed very excited. "I love being outside. I only play video games when it's dark out or when it's raining."

Seidh was very relieved as Vance got off of the subject of dead people, car batteries and jumper cables as they verbally wandered into much safer territory. The small girl listened patiently and attentively to the boy with his run on sentences as he listed off what he liked to do. “I want to go swimming one day…” She commented softly, for she had seen that on television and that looked really fun! Akuja said there was an indoor swimming pool she would take them to one weekend and the small girl was looking forward to it immensely.

I like being outside too.” Seidh agreed and gave a nod of her head when the boy said he only played video games when he was outside or it was raining. “…I like the rain too.” Being outside while it was raining was equally fun.

"The rain is fun." Vance agreed, with a nod. "But I get all muddy and stuff, so Dad said he prefers that I stay inside if I can help it." He quoted, using his hands to imitate quotations. Donovan didn't mind if the boy wanted to play in the rain, but Vance always found ways to get incredibly muddy. Besides, too much of it could give you a cold, right?

Vance turned back to the cakes, pulling one out that had vanilla with strawberries. Mmm! "I'm gonna get this." He could practically taste it! "You getting pie?"

Seidh smiled a bit when Vance agreed that the rain was fun too, and the girl couldn’t help but giggle softly at the boy’s words and how he used air quotations. She didn’t go play in the mud when it was raining, she would just stand outside in the rain with an umbrella, or else under the porch with a cup of hot chocolate. She liked that a lot.

When the frog boy turned back to the desserts, she did as well watching as he pulled out a vanilla cake with strawberries on it. Darn. She couldn’t convert him to cake. Oh well. “Yes…I am going to get a few pies…” Seidh replied, going back over to the pies and getting a blackberry one and then a cherry one.

"A.. few?" Vance watched the girl as she moved, taking to pies from the shelf. What? No fair! How come she got two? Vance had been told to get only one treat... Though a cake would probably last a week, but that wasn't how Vance was thinking at that moment.

"Wooow..." He didn't even know if he liked pie, but seeing the girl get two made him want them now.
Fickle boy.

Donovan had finished much of his shopping quickly, since Vance wasn't around to detour him. He rounded the corner, and spotted his boy with a large cake, ogling a girl with two pies. He chuckled and shook his head. Made another friend, did he?
"Vance? Got what you wanted? Let's go bud."

Vance grinned at the sight of his dad, then looked back to Seidh. "I gotta go. Bye bye! Eat lots of pie!"

Yes.” Seidh replied as she held the two pies securely in her arms. “This is for the week after dinner.” She informed the boy helpfully. “It’s for my mother, brother and I.” Where as Vance got the cake for himself. Who was really the lucky one now? The small girl looked up upon the arrival of a parent that wasn’t her own. Oh…! This was Vance’s father? She blinked up at the man and then looked back to Vance. Guess this was good bye for now!

Good bye.” She replied and then gave a small nod of her head and a small smile. “Enjoy your cake.” After the boy had disappeared with his father, Seidh then took off to go find her mother and brother and safely deposit the pie goods into the cart.
