A trio of teenagers nearly passed by the booth without any sort of incident, until one of them happened to catch sight of the fish.
"Oh god, those are so badass!"
The voice came from a boy dressed up as Mario. He stopped and ran to the booth like a kid and eyed the fish like how most children would eye puppy dogs in a window. "God, Ellie, you're better at this stuff! I pay, you play?"
The girl dressed as a biker rolled her eyes. "Dude, yer jus' gonna kill it by fergettin' t'feed it."
This hispanic soccer player patted her shoulder. "Eh, humor him, or we're not going to hear the end of this, chica."
With a slight groan, she nodded her head. "Fine, fine... let's get this sh*t over with!" She walked up and signaled to the students running the booth that she'd be giving it a shot.

-She inspected the flimsiness of the fish paper suspiciously. It'd better not be like those claw machines, often left so loose that there was no real way to win. Oh well, nothing to do but go ahead and try.
The paper and her hand dipped deep into the dark water.
Something touched her hand, startling her, and as she drew up the fish paper broke.
Frowning she tossed away the broken paper and reached for another.-

With the paper scoop in hand, the tomboy ducked down in front of the tank. "Seriously, what th'f*ck's in this water?" It looked disgusting, like nothing could live in it.
The blonde Mario grinned "It's probably chemicals or something to make those fish look so epic!"
"You know, I have to agree with Jared, Chica."
As the girl scooped in, she only had one thing to say. "You would, Zuniga!"

-She waited a moment, watching for the water to ripple from movement beneath it before she dipped the paper in again. As flimsy as it was, the higher up she caught the fish, the less likely the pressure of water would shatter it.
Ah ha!! As Aitana lifted the paper it remained intact, a fish unlike any regular 'goldfish' she'd ever seen perched onto. It looked more like the piranahas of her homeland, which was pretty darn cool! And it's rainbow sheen was quite magnificent too!-
"I win!" -She proclaimed with a proud grin to the booth keeper, pointing towards the bat tank.-
"I try to get him a friend with last try"

The scoop felt as if it had been a fishing lure for a moment in her hand, because it was tugged a bit by the nibbling of fish. She pulled her scoop out of the water, and found nothing (except a small section of paper chewed out).
"Awwwww...that sucks! Come on, try again, Ellie!"
Gold eyes were rolled. "I get two more tries anyways, dumbass!" Using the same scoop as before, she tried again.

-Crouching over the tank she went with the same strategy that she'd used before, searching and waiting for the ripple of a fish near the surface. She didn't really have any idea whether the fish all looked the same or different and the water was far too murky anyway to attempt for something 'different', she was just aiming for something.
The water rippled and her hand dipped in right behind it. Fin feathered her hand as she drew upward, trying to pull up quickly without shaking her hand over the strange sensation.
As the paper neared the surface another fish appeared, this one dark in color and with something on it's head. She was obviously impressed, letting out a happy whoop both at her double success and the badassery of her newest fish.-
"I win another" -She proclaimed, quickly handing it off to the booth keepers again before it could wriggle away and back into the waters. Would they go in the same tank or in different ones? She watched and waited for her prizes to be prepared, bobbing excitedly on her feet. These little guys were WAY cooler then any stuffed animal.-

"Oh god, it looks so disgusting!!" Zuniga leaned over to get a better look at the green fish, despite what he almost shouted.
"F*ck yeah!! I knew ya could do it Ellie!" Jared was grinning like crazy. "Oh dude, what should I name it?! Oh god, it has to be somethin' amazing!!"
"Dude, what sort of tank do ya want?" Ellie elbowed the blonde Mario in the side to bring him back to reality.
"Oh, right... um... the Bat tank is pretty bad a**."
Ellie was about to toss out the fish scoop when Jared seemed to retaliate.
"What?! No... you still have one more chance! I'd love to have a battle of the fish! Try again, seriously!!"
"You owe me somethin' after this. Ya seriously could be doin' this by yerself!" With a groan, she tried once more.

The scoop came back up with a giant hole in the middle and no fish.
"YOU WEREN'T EVEN TRYING!!!" Jared whined.
Rather than take his guff, the girl punched him in the arm. "Shut th'hell up and take yer damned fish you jackass!"
Zuniga laughed at the pair. "You two are a riot! That fish is pretty badass though. Name it well, Chico!"
Now done with the booth, the motorcycle chick began to lead the pack away from this booth. Seriously. If the night was like this the whole time, she'd definitely say this whole trip to the carnival wasn't worth it.

Tallulah had always thought goldfish scooping was a bit inhumane. They were kept in crowded little tanks all together and they wound up just eating the dead ones - clearly the only way to remedy this was to catch one and take it home and treat it properly for the rest of its short, fishy life.
"Hold this," she said, handing her spool of cotton candy to her pink eyed friend.
"Are you gonna try, Tallulah?" her friend asked, taking a bite out of the spool.
"You bet I am," replied Tallulah, stepping up to the counter. "I'd like to try, please."

Tallulah dipped her first net into the tank and wiggled it around with a look of great concentration. She knew there was a trick to this, she just wasn't sure what. After a few moments, she brought it up, fearing that the paper might fall apart.
Flopping in the center of the paper net was a dark, angry looking miniature piranha. They called that a goldfish? "Um, I think I've got something," she called to the booth attendant.
Oh, she definitely had something. "I'd like the pumpkin tank, please!"

Toki normally stayed away from places like this... bustling with people and making her feel rather irritable, grumpy. She was introverted most days and just... always pissed off others. Scooting through all the festivities, her eyes were captivated by one word... 'exotic'. Pink eyes drifted towards the...fish booth? Well.. Toki was a nature lover... and her apartment got lonely on the best of nights.
Eh what the hell, she could brave a crowd of teenagers for a moment while she tried... right?

Taking one of the flimsy scoops, she inspected it curiously.... paper? Are you serious this would break the second it touched the water!.
Mentally sighing (Already paid for the tries anyways) she dipped the scooper into the water...
...and somehow she managed to pull out a green looking toothy grining fish...thing. "Uhhm..." She looked at it a little more...contimplating. Oh wait it needs water to breath, right? "Bat tank!" She called out as she eyed the options.

Marveled at her sudden luck... she eyed her two other paddles. The paper looking just as flimsy she couldnt believe she caught that other fish... musta been one dumb fish, she would give it a appropriate name later.
Toki took yet another paddle and lowered it once again into the waters.....
Only to feel something bite her hand, and from shock she dropped the whole thing into the tank... to sink to its icky bottom, she was not fetching it. Pulling her hand out, she noticed the fresh wound on her hand. Oh yeah whomever took her finger was getting deep fried and served to the neighborhood cats.

Now irritated and wanting to go home with her new radioactive derp fish, she didnt want to waste the last paddle she had. With a final glare into the tank, DARING the little b*****d to bite again, she scooped the paddle down....
....and pulled out one of the gayest... Always i want to be with you... rainbow barf things she had EVER seen. She stared at it mouth agape for a few moments... Did fish even come IN this color? ".... Another Bat tank please."

It was plain statistical fact that almost every game in this joyous carnival was stacked for you to lose horribly, while looking like there was some amazing chance you might not. However, there were a few things that were a bit easier to manage if you weren't a total idiot, and Audrey Collins was (in her mind at least) the furthest thing than an idiot.
That, and she was fairly certain that a goldfish was the most interesting pet a busy person could have, and she wanted one.
Pulling the ever-present, if now rarely-used ribbon from the pocket of her sweater, Audrey bound her blue curls up into some sort of messy restraint at the back of her neck, pushing up sleeves and handing over her money to the attendant. If everything went the way she anticipated it would (when did it ever?), Elzo and Victoria could also have a fish!
