Where I live (Tokushima) is relatively close to Osaka, so Awa-ben is pretty close to Osaka-ben. Plus our TV channels mostly come from Osaka, so save for the formal Japanese I learned in class, I really don't hear "standard" Japanese. xd But I honestly don't always know what's purely Osaka-ben, and what's only Awa-ben, so maybe someone could help me?

Honma? - I know we got this from Osaka
Ikeru? - We use this instead of "daijoubu?"
Hona, or Honana - we use this like "ja, mata!"
Shaanainaa - Instead of "shikatta ga nai," or "shou ga nai"
Donaishitan? - sort of like "ikeru?" but I can tell it comes from standard "doushita?"

There's some more but I can't remember them off-hand.

Also, this website that I just found is pretty cool, and it's about Osaka-ben. A Course in Osaka-ben

Kansai-ben is what I speak with my friend from Kobe, Japan. It has a lot of roots in ancient Japanese I believe. 3nodding

The only book I've seen and own on kansai ben:

"Colloquial Kansai Japanese" by DC Palter, Kaoru Slotsve

This ones a Tuttle Language Library book so be careful; it was published in 1995 so colloquialisms *may* be a little outdated.

I bought mine from Kinokunia less than a year ago mad Maybe you could try that if you live near one. Japanese second hand bookstores may also be worth a try?

I have a wakayama kansai dialect ^-^; It's rather embarissing because it's just kinda...weird for someone who looks like a foreigner to have such a way of speaking that you hear mostly from old people.

But most people don't see the difference between that and the osaka dialect, so it's all good :]

There'll be tons of subdialects because every prefecture has its own dialect.

My dad's side of the family is from the Wakayama Kansai area! So my grandparents spoke with that dialect when they spoke. My dad speaks standard Japanese though, and doesn't want me to learn a dialect at all until I'm totally fluent in Hyojin (eh, how do you spell that >>). The only thing I know is Wakarahen and Wakaron (Same thing really, or so I was told), cause my grandpa taught that to me...

Kero-chan from CCS has a cute Osakan accent rofl heart

I second that
but I also love Tasuki's(fushigi yuugi) and Yuuhi's(Ayashi No CEREs)
but I'm confused which sub-dialect of Kansai they are speaking(Osaka-ben,Kyoto-ben,standard-kansai, fukui-ben, kumamoto-ben?)

I don't think Fukui-ben and Kumamoto-ben are part of that category but Fukui-ben does use Ookini

animes/anime character that use Kansai-ben
Kawachi Kyousuke from Yakitate! Japan,
Asahina Arumi and Imamiya Satoshi from Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi
Konno "Kitsune" Mitsune from Love Hina.
Kero-chan from CCS
Tasuki(fushigi yuugi)
Yuuhi(Ayashi no Ceres)

you can add Ichimaru Gin from Bleach to that list I think.

Out-dated colloquialisms are much fun. :3

I could just post a lot of the stuff from the book here, if anyone would like?
