He spoke plainly, without any emotion to his voice and no expression in his eyes. It was not sad, it was not angering, it wasn't happy, or exciting. It was just matter of fact. "Didn't have parents. To grow up, it was kill or be killed. I got good at it." Was that enough of an explanation? He shrugged, figuring if she wanted to try to get him to say more then she would do so.
He let her come closer, take a better look at his most prized skulls and only began to talk when she stopped moving, when she paused to look up at him from next to his bird necklace. His heart began to beat faster, but he answered more or less calmly.
"The one on my face was a Soquili... strangest one I had ever seen. Massive bird pelt stuck to 'im. Claws instead of hooves, a whip for a tail. Nearly killed me..." he trails off a bit and then adds, "But his wings were leather and skin, and it took a long time to take him apart." He looks over his shoulder a second, glancing at the skull over his rump. "Crocodile. Gave me some good scratches and scars. Very tough skin, too. But this one..." He dips his chin just the slightest to indicate the one around his neck, and grins playfully when he finishes, "... didn't become a pancake."

She nodded her time at each explanation, thinking quite a bit on the one adorning his. "Sounds to e like that one was some sort of Skinwalker. They are very nasty. I must say Im glad you managed to down it, before it got you.", she let a smile grace her face as she looked in his eyes with a hidden sadness. She had found buried memories within his words.
She shifted her eyes to the ground and thought of her own hunting skills. "My hunting skills are not great, but I manage. I learned from watching the Kalona around my family, though I tought myself how to survive from a young age. I grew up around my father more then my mother. I also have 2 sisters, but I've not seen them or any of my family in a long time. I crossed paths with my younger sister awhile back, but that's all it was...a short converging path amongst the trees. But I like my solitary life...", her words finally trailed off and her facial features returned to normal-void of any emotion.
In truth she felt a positive connection to Rainart. She was reminded that having company isn't always a bad thing. She also knew she could learn to better her hunting skills by just listening and watching his movements. "I think I could learn from you, with hunting.", she said returning her gaze to Rainart now. They could learn from each other, evolve together possibly. She gave another small smile as her stomach finally gave way to a growl of hunger.

Skinwalker. He had heard of those before and now that he thought about it, that was definitely what it must have been. A beast of a Soq, it had been, and he was lucky to have gotten out alive. But it had been so long ago... and almost just as long ago that he had last thought about it. It was not a pleasant memory. His mask was his one trophy that he wore as a reminder to himself how short life could really be. The others were proud moments of his life, prized kills, difficult ones that he wanted to remember.
When she told him of her own past he sensed a great weight, a sadness that she was trying very hard to hide and keep stored away from others. Perhaps this is what she had meant when she could see the questions in his eyes. Perhaps this is what it felt like to know something about someone without knowing why. His expression softened to one of something like compassion as she mentioned her family and her own experiences, and it lightened when she said she could learn from him.
"Maybe. Those light feet help. I work around my heavy ones," he smirked and lifted a hoof.

Ariadne smiled at his words. "you may have heavy feet, but you can still be light on them with practice, maybe it is something I can teach you.", she mused a bit picturing the rabbit pancake from earlier. She surveyed their surrounding and the close proximity from tree to tree would not be suitable for learning, in her opinion anyways.
"Would you like to travel somewhere more suitable for teaching. A slightly more open area may be ideal for both our teachings, at first anyways.", she smiled at the thought of the hunt and her stomach liked the thought as well as it let out a small growl for hunger.

He listened calmly, not quite believing that he could ever be light on his feet, but not saying anything to the contrary. She could, after all, at least try to teach him, he supposed.
He cast a glance at their current surroundings and nodded in agreement. The trees here were too close for what they intended to do. "Lead the way," he could of course have tried to teach her a few things about hunting here, but why make things more difficult if they didn't need to be?

Ariadne smiled and nodded and stepped closer to Rainart. "There is an area where the trees have a wider berth. There is also a waterfall with fresh water fish, it will be a good place for "light hooves" and a still heart."
Ariadne walked forward a bit and leaned against rainart's side and gave him a quick nuzzle(kiss) and walked to the east to train. "Let the hunt begin", she said with a smile at Rainart, excitement reflecting in her eyes.
She was forming a bond with the large male, but they didn't know how strong the bond would become in their teachings and leanings. Where the great hunt would take them would change their lives forever, but for the better or the worst has not yet been revealed......The new journey begins.
