Vashti glanced back and forth between Aheero and the woods around him. He nodded, recalling the wild dog's words. He spun around, playfully spotting every part of every tree. He looked back, expecting to see Aheero. This is not what he saw. Nothing but the land around him. Did he run away? That would be the obvious question, but why? His eyes darted from one direction to another. Where could he have gone? Why would he have left?
A test. The obvious answer. But this was a little extreme, right? "Aheero!" He called out, hoping the dog was still in earshot. "Aheero? Where did you go?" He had no idea what he was doing or what he could do. "If this is your idea of a joke, it isn't funny." He protested, stomping a paw for emphasis. "Is this about the whole wet blanket thing? 'Cause I'm sorry."
Vashti looked around, he couldn't even remember where they came from ... maybe the path to the north ... or the south ... east? west? He slowly headed in one direction before quickly changing his mind. He was truly lost ... this was great ...

Aheero watched in silence as the young Jumper wandered about aimlessly. He was panicking, it would pass. It had passed for Aheero, all that time ago, when he first found himself to be lost. And Vashti was not lost, not truly. If it grew dark, Aheero would lead him home. But he certainly hoped the youngster would be able to find his way back on his own.
Silent as a shadow, he followed Vashti, watchful and wary of any danger the younger dog might not realize in time. Just in case. But he knew, though most seemed to doubt, that Vashti had it within himself to succeed.
All that was left to do was set him on his paws and watch as he made his own path.
